The installation file should have overwritten old files thus adding -rescan shouldn't be needed. Bitcoin Core and your wallet location should be the same as before the upgrade. You can continue using your shortcut and do not need to rescan. Are you running into any trouble or is this more of a generic question ? So yeah, that's one kind of an extra step OP needs to take before continuing with the upgrade. Title: Re: Upgrade to 018.1 Post by: Dabs on September 27, 2019, 02:57:59 PM I personally just shutdown the wallet, grab the zip file, extract the binaries, and copy them over to my bitcoin folder. When I launch the wallet, it's upgraded. You can use the same shortcuts too.
Issues will only happen if upgrading from a much older version, but if you have the wallet file, it's the same as resyncing from scratch; you'll just download the entire blockchain again. |
