Title: Your favorite Youtube channels about finance and economics?
Post by: davis196 on September 26, 2019, 11:42:58 AM
My favorite youtube channels about finance and economics are:
1.Graham Stephan-Real estate,financial advise,saving,making money(nothing about crypto).
2.Economy Explained-It's more about macroeconomics and why some countries are wealthier than others.

Which ones are your favorite Youtube channels about economics and finance?

When I lurk in YouTube, I just watch my subscribed favorite vlogger. But with this, maybe I'm going to watch those channels you have mentioned. I've always wanted to learn about finance and other related topics. I'll make time to watch these. The channel of Graham Stephen sounds interesting to me. It's already on top of my list. ;D

Dan Lok and few videos of The Rich Dad channel(Robert Kiyosaki's youtube channel) for me with finance.

I think it would be a good idea if you can compile all of these suggestions on your original post so that those who are interested in economics and finance youtube channels can browse it easily through that list.

I haven't watched any of those channels that were mentioned above, I'll watch them as I want to grow my knowledge about economics and finance.

Both confirmed can be useful food for thought.

My recommendation:
Alessio Rastani (trading) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnJjRjmthxPCoQaAL44tR6g
Standford Graduate School of Business https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGwuxdEeCf0TIA2RbPOj-8g

Sometimes it is good to review the basics:
Crash course https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCX6b17PVsYBQ0ip5gyeme-Q

Careful about Youtube videos since it can be a propaganda tool for uninformed. You should keep DYOR mentality intact while listening, reading, or watching any new information.

I don't have much of a favorite youtube channel in this segment (I am more of a book reader when it comes to economics), but one thing I can say after a while of watching some of the more popular channels, it's better to avoid those who are offering courses, memberships, guides and whatnot, because all they care about is to make you pay for them without actually making much sense in the end.

Some interesting (non crypto) titles for starters that I enjoyed reading;

Economics in one lesson by Henry Hazlitt
What has government done to our money by Murray N. Rothbard

Especially the one from Rothbard is quite an interesting one to read, because it perfectly describes the problems that we are still dealing with today, and that after decades of progress on so many fronts. It makes you aware and sad at the same time that literally nothing has changed on a fundamental level. It also makes you appreciate Bitcoin more. :)

Same as you, i'm not familiar with them. Looking forward to check it because I know that it can help me to increase my understanding and I can learn something new that can help me when I encounter some problems in the future. It can help us especially mainly newbies because some of them are still bewildered or confused. Its a unique way of learning and I think it is also fun.

I like to read information about economics from books and see the analytics of some experienced economists, in the economic television channels as CNBC.
The information provided by these experts may be false, but when you listen to the discussions you will see how they think.
As for the YouTube channels, this is my list:

 - Stanford Graduate School of Business  (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGwuxdEeCf0TIA2RbPOj-8g)
 - Marginal Revolution University (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnkEhPBMZcEO0QGu51fDFDg)
 - All Microeconomics Playlists - ACDC Econ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swnoF533C_c)
 - misesmedia (https://www.youtube.com/user/misesmedia/playlists)

This is good information and I will look at the YouTube channel you mentioned. Actually I don't have a favorite YouTube channel about the economy and finance. I prefer 3 times a week to go to a bookstore like Gramedia shop. There I tried to read the book of Economics and the statement because of the various books there.

In my opinion, reading many books, of course, will add to our knowledge. In addition, the industry is always in touch with money and can then change the community economy.

I do not often follow economic growth through the YouTube channel, financial news on the CNBC channel is the most recommended because it preaches the economy officially from trusted sources. I only frequently update information by reading on popular and trusted news sites.

I'll have to look up the former, but the latter....isn't he one of the precious metals permabulls, along with guys like Schiff and Kiyosaki?  I've seen a hell of a lot of nonsense videos about metals, especially around 2011 when prices were peaking.  They never tell you to sell; it's always buy, buy buy.

And I don't really frequent Youtube for finance videos, though I have watched a ton of them about bitcoin and other cryptos.  I like Philipma1957's channel a lot, where you can see all of his mining adventures.  That's the only one I've subscribed to.  As with the precious metals crowd, there's a ton of idiocy in the crypto videos.  There was one where a guy claimed you could stake PIVX on a Ledger.  My eyeballs just about popped out of my head--and he said it with a straight face.

I've always wanted to learn about finance and other related topics.
Just some friendly advice: there's only so much you can learn by watching a Youtube video, and you sometimes don't know whether the person is even qualified to be speaking about finance topics.  As I said, there's a lot of misinformation out there and I would suggest taking a course at a university if possible.  I learned a lot about corporate finance and economics when I was in school.

I suggest Khanacademy and Jacob Clifford. Sal Khan is extremely good at explaining macroeconomic concepts, issues relating to the GFC, and just gaining a general understanding of economics. Jacob Clifford seems better at microeconomics.

I wouldn't go to sources such as Peter Schiff, Maloney etc. for actual educational content, because they have a vested interest in getting you to buy silver/gold.

Especially Schiff, who has a track record of being a gold bug. And that's definitely not always a good thing.

My favorites are,

1) The Crypto Lark — a channel which focuses on the news or any kind of discussions about crypto.
2) Dan Lok — he was a Chinese tycoon expert in ecery aspect of business ranging from how to close a deal up to ways on effective selling of goods. You can learn many things about him and rhe good thing is he explain what he is saying thoroughly.

Myself too the same, I prefer watching in my native language. In English we've got more channels to broadcast information related to cryptocurrencies. Earlier I was using those channels, and after a hard search found a channel where explanations were made on my own native language. Right now it has got very small number of subscribers around 18k.

It would never occur to me to use Youtube for this purpose and I find it really weird that it's seen as more 'with it' and 'happening' by the kids out there.

Video is a hopeless medium for imparting the information you seek compared to the written word. Good for entertainment of course.

Your favorite Youtube channels about finance and economics?

I watch Keiser Report https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQmW1ZcPKiAZ2ZP_3naA1kA/videos  He is a bit crazy so you have to not take it totally serious, but it is still nice to watch.

I have subscribed many youtubers about finance and trading before, but these two are the most substantial in my opinion.

Alessio Rastani - he may not be the best but I like the way he explains about trading analysis and good mentor, he is involved in stocks and bitcoin trading.
Dan Lok - a good business influencer, motivational speaker and hes stories are very inspiring.
