Title: What do you look for in a gaming platform? - Bojoko Article
Post by: Bojoko on October 01, 2019, 11:39:33 AM
Hello Community! Time for another Bojoko article about a very interesting topic.

How many of you think about the actual platform you are gambling on? How is the API (application programmin interface), is it better to play with mobile or desktop? These kind of questions and the changes that have been happening in the industry has been thought in a Bojoko.com article written by Graham A. Jarvis.

Please, find the whole article here: https://bojoko.com/stories/meeting-changing-igaming-player-demands/ (https://bojoko.com/stories/meeting-changing-igaming-player-demands/)

Interesting quote from the article:

2. Does bitcoin casinos have similar standards are regulated online casinos regarding API's?
3. Does the platform actually matter to you?

In my opinion, platform doesn't really matter as long as it is convenient and secure for gamblers to gamble to a certain casino. Most online casinos nowadays are accessible by mobile or desktop so gamblers can have a choice on what device that they will have to use when accessing the online casinos.

To be sincere I haven't really tried playing casino games on mobile as I have a rather slow phone, maybe because it's loaded with apps, so the platform doesn't run smoothly on it. So at your first question my answer would be that I prefer gambling on a desktop. Obviously on touchscreen's it is much more addictive for players as they can press the action button with their fingers and not with a click of a mouse so it is a more immersive experience.

Sorry no time to read the full article yet, but please let me give my opinion on this.
Platform doesn't matter to me. In my opinion, desktop games is more convenient to play but on mobile, we can play the games anywhere we want. Desktop games have no problem with data size, but mobile games do have problem with it because most people have limit data size. So both have pros and cons. There are already a lot of existing platforms that are available on desktop and mobile with same looks and performance btw.

Correct, for a gaming platform its best when it can be played out on both pc and mobile but there were games which arent possible to be played on a mobile phone thats why we do see
some categories but this isnt really a serious matter though and as i believe that majority of us do have their own pc on home and have their own smartphones.
It will just vary on when and where you do plan or do like to play on.

The main thing is security, after that it is seen that withdrawals are fast and that they do not retain transactions for a long time, although the platform does not matter much, it is always better to keep the style, sometimes it attracts much more an attractive platform.

For me playing use mobile or desktop is not so different even lately almost all of gambling sites can be access and played use mobile phone so this feature will became an common feature for the casinos but besides all of it the casinos should be provably fair, high security system, instant deposit or withdrawal and the platform doesn't too matter for me

Yeah, already quite many of you saying that the platform doesn't matter as long as it work, right? Luckily these days the mobile optimization is quite good.

Still have you seen any differences between blockchain or bitcoin casinos versus "normal casinos"?

You should predict the next trend to be in the winning position, because today`s casino market is quite big.

Desktop gaming is more applicable for me. This method is reacting quickly and avoid lags (my old android smartphone had a lot of it). I have some experience in bitcoin betting sites and it has really lower degree of protection. They couldn`t even provide 2FA and that`s made my choise to usual gambling site. Platform doesn`t really mean to me. They couldn`t even provide 2FA and that`s made my choice in favor of a regular site with fiat money. Platform doesn`t really mean to me.

thats impossible to predict if what new technology will become a hit . instead of wasting time brainstorming if what are new techs that will be a hit ,  why not make an improve platform of the current tech that we have right now.  that will be more possible imo. desktop and mobile have also have different specs . maybe your phone is low end and your pc is high end , thats why you feel that its best to gamble on pc.   but having a working platform that work on both pc and mobile are recomended nowadays

Being the person always on the go looking to kill time, I prefer mobile optimization on a gambling site, most especially on slots and roulettes. Sadly, I haven't come across a gambling site that does mobile optimization on these particular games that is fluidly smooth, or I haven't really checked hard enough. Next would be how fast the deposit/withdrawals are process. Usually that puts me off when the deposit needs to take a lot of confirms and the withdraws need to be approved first, for hours, before it gets processed.

Definitely UX and design as one of the most important stuff that nobody talks about. Sure I care if they are trustworthy, that is probably the most important, sure I look at the games and if there are tons of it then that is even better. Sure I do care about withdrawal fee and speed.

However, these kinds of stuff are talked by everyone and everywhere, I care about something extra, the UX and the design, it has to be better than their competitions, since it is design we can't say one is better and the other is worse unless the difference is super clear, but at the end of the day all I care is myself and I want to have UX that is easy to use and nice to look at since I would be looking at it for hours. I like stake for that sense, their website is easy to use and quite good to look at.

1. Do you prefer my mobile gaming or desktop in online casinos? Why?
2. Does bitcoin casinos have similar standards are regulated online casinos regarding API's?
3. Does the platform actually matter to you?

1. If there is a mobile casino version, then I will try it because so far there is no such casino. I myself prefer cellular optimization because it is more effective and easier to use, of course, it will also be faster in accessing. I am sure if you develop it, there will be many gamblers here trying out your platform.
2. For standards I think it depends on platform itself, the most important thing is not detrimental to player or developer.
3. Important!

I think no API is needed when you visit website via browser from your smartphone, API is needed for mobile applications (I think that's how it works there).
To be fair it doesn't matter much whether I play from mobile or from computer, mobile is comfortable when I lay in bed and computer is comfortable on another times. Btw for playing slots, poker and etc, of course computer is better experience but for playing dice, just lay and use your smartphone is awesome.
Platform really matters, for example for me website's interface plays a huge role too because when I enter on website, I have to feel comfortable too (Nothing to talk about support and trustworthiness, that's must to have).

It's not a big problem that some games are not playable in mobile devices. When the game you want to play can't be played on mobile device then just play other games that are available to play on mobile before using desktop. I think there are some casinos that they have app for everyone to play their games using mobile where you can't play the game by using mobile browser.

personally i dont use and wont use any mobile functions on any website, i sit behind a series of computers and not on a mobile phone, so that would not be a priority for me but  a well coded and protected .
safty first
then obviously if the games are of my choice and how they work!
then if the trust is there in you website.

I actually a mobile gambling app and it is convenient. For me the interface of the app is really important because it makes people want to play. And the withdrawal and registration should be instant and hassle free because some other site sometimes takes a lot of confirmation and there are some delay when withdrawing funds.

I think the article should have more information about cryptocurrencies being used for gambling online, not a couple of sentences. Now let's turn to the questions. I prefer desktop versions over mobile gambling. It seems safer for me when it's my laptop rather than an app on my smartphone, partially because a website is something you access but don't download. It's also just easier to navigate on a laptop for me. As for the platform, the most important thing for me is to know that the casino can be trusted. Then goes a user-friendly interface and a range of games. Finally, it's nice to see good animation.

Many people are interested about what are the other things we can do here in bitcoin. Some developers create some platform about gaming that is gambling on it.We are full of some gadgets that we can use all throughout playing some gambling games its either desktop form or mobile form. We all can say that we are here for fun and play money games in order for us to get some extra income.

It depends on each others opinions as well but I believe platform is needed to make first impression good enough for players to stay. Because mostly they tend to create their game through same platform instead of mobile. Mobile is hard for doing things but it is more simpler than a platform meanwhile in some platform you might find this complicated but of course easier to do more things

Its a mixed bag for me op. Sometimes, I have a better experience with gambling on my mobile(No lag, faster animations etc) while some other times I find it easier to enjoy gambling on my home desktop.

The primary feature that I look for in a gambling site is its popularity followed by its house edge, provably fair mechanisms, UI design and customer service. Choosing sites based on these factors have always led me to legit sites over the years.

Well, I'd prefer gambling on mobile platform. I usually lose interest in a gambling website if the website is not mobile-friendly nor have mobile app games. So I care alot about mobile-friendly games for the sake of mobility. I can't seat in front of my computer for a long time gambling. I'd prefer to be able to move around, spending alot of time on productive things and gamble  once in awhile on my phone while using my time well

We can all talk here about how we like this and that and what not but in the end wouldn't we all agree that what makes a casino great is the owners?

I mean one thing that makes the casinos so good is the owners and that hasn't changed in centuries. If you have a casino either actually brick and mortar or online or crypto, it doesn't change the fact that casino owners who do not scam anyone, who is not even a bit of shady, just runs the casino legally and genuinely like how it should be run, then they will get bigger and bigger like how many many successful gambling houses are already doing in crypto space.

The people who go into casino world for some reason are usually scammers, which is why there is a ton of bad casinos, the few ones who are legit and run by decent business people always become the best ones out there since they are not screwing their customers.

It is convenient to use a Mobile based platform as you can play on the go. But, to me platform does not matter as long as they are safe and secure.

I have tried playing a few of these websites on the Mobile platform and found that not all of them are optimized for different screen sizes. Most of them have display issues on smartphones. A lot of work still needs to be done.

1. Do you prefer my mobile gaming or desktop in online casinos? Why?

I would prefer both mobile and desktop version of the online gambling site. Sometimes i am on travel, and if i can access the gambling site through my mobile app, it will be really helpful. Although i can play through browser on mobile but it is not user friendly.

2. Does bitcoin casinos have similar standards are regulated online casinos regarding API's?

Any third party API which is created should pass through the standards so that there is no risk involve in them.

3. Does the platform actually matter to you?
Does not matter. The thing which matter me the most is the security , credibility and the simplicity of the site.

1. Do you prefer my mobile gaming or desktop in online casinos? Why?

3. Does the platform actually matter to you?

1 I prefer desktop online casinos while I am doing my stuff online it's good to include it to my multitasking, it's my breather from my work online
3 Yes, of course, some platform has an edge compared to the other, I like gaming or gambling site with build-in chat and daily contest like Onehash has, the server should be fast and there is no lag, but one big attraction is when the platform has many games on it.

There is a great advantage when you are using websites and desktop in online gambling. It has a widescreen compared to mobile apps. Why you are wanted to make app version for your gambling site, mobile phone now can use google chrome and it is easily to browse. When it comes online gambling I didn't use app to gamble(looks like unsafe).

I do prefer on using up desktop or pc when i do gamble and as said you can able to multi-task but somewhat the cons is you are on stationary
unlike when you are on a mobile you can bring out anywhere you do go as long you do have the connection. Application isnt really that harmful
as long its trusted or you do see positive feedback into its download source.Just be careful and always search up.

(1) I prefer to play on desktop since I have been spending most of my time at home, nonetheless I'm on somewhere far and so portability is the key for entertainment.
(2) Basically they have the same ( or almost)  API because they are both casino or gambling site.
(3) Of course it does! especially when it has a lot to offer than other some gambling platforms or what we called the edge of their platform.
The security features also is one of my preferences, If it is google it is better.

I definitely prefer PC as well, mobile just feels to small, it all depends on the mobile you have of course but in the end how big can a phone really get? I understand there are some huge ones but none of them are even comparable to computers hence they will always be the small ones.

When I am gambling I want to make sure everything is set properly exactly the way I feel comfortable and without that I feel like I might do something wrong, which is why I try to use computers whenever I can. It is just a way for me to see it in a bigger screen, if I got the chance and didn't felt lazy I would totally plug it into my big TV as well to make sure I can see everything even bigger :D. All joking aside it just feels a lot more smooth on computers versus mobile phones, plus my phone sucks and a very old model.

I prefer mobile gaming as I, 90% of the time, use my mobile and barely use my PC.

Sorry, but I didn't understand what you mean!

3. Does the platform actually matter to you?
Of course it matters. To me, the most important is that it has be secure and user-friendly.

Ilmobile just feels to small, it all depends on the mobile you have of course but in the end how big can a phone really get?
I believe it depends on the game design itself. I have a low resolution mobile and some games work just fine.

Here are my two satoshi:

1.Prefer desktop gambling , since I gamble often and prefer to be able to keep a few tabs open and switch when needed
without a need to make sure my browser won't lag if I open an extra tab or try to set an autobet
2.Not a developer , but it seems like they have differences
bitcoin casinos allow and even stimulate the bots usage , while regulated casinos rarely use them at all
3.It surely does matter , I will not gamble serious money somewhere new or not trusted
maximum <100$ to try it out

Good answers guys! Seems like to most of you it's only security and smoothness what matters, not really the platform which it is running on. And this is completely understandable. Normal gamers shouldn't be thinking about API's or anything like that, they should be thinking about safety and entertainment value.
