MLB playoffs - do you bet it?

What is your thoughts given the scene is set now and the games have yet to be played

Who wins the playoff games?

My money is on Tampa and Milwaukee making it through, what do you guys think?

I Like the Rays, Yankees, Astros, Braves and Diamondbacks, any of these teams could very well make it!

As far as my final predictions for the Finals. I am going for the underdogs.

I would like to see Astros vs the Braves. With the Astros going all the way!

Astros are a great team. I made money off of betting them this year. Atleast we know now that it is playoff season the starters and best pitchers should be well rested. I think we are in for some good games.

I like the cardinals as well as they can sink some buckets but I would not bet them to win. If I bet cardinals I bet the over as they can score but the games are always to close for comfort!

I only will bet on MLB if I get a hot tip but I don’t follow this sport enough to get big

Agreed on the Astros. They have the best chance to be in the world series versus maybe the Yankees from the American league. However, I wish it would be the Dodgers versus the Yankees hehehe.

Been following MLB for the past 2 years but this year I'm just not feeling it. I have my bet on the Astros as they have put quite a show last year, same with the Rays but honestly, I'm entirely clueless on who beats who in this current season. If a tip is within my liking and favorable in terms of the lines and the odds, I would get them, particularly the Astros, even against big names such as the Yankees and Dodgers.

And since you have started this thread, it's best to put up some stats so we can follow it somewhat. ;)

Welp my first wild card team missed lol, let's see how the Ray's do.  Here is my breakdown of how I think this will play out:
AL:
Yanks win vs twins
Astros beat Ray's
Yanks beat Astros

NL:
Dodgers beat washington
Braves beat st Louis
Dodgers beat braves

Yanks win it all against dodgers

The braves vs st louis has been the game so far.  That was a hell of a comeback.  Playoff baseball is so different than the regular season.  Every pitch counts and could be the deciding factor.  My dough is on the yankees ML tonight, paxson has been a beast his last 10 starts

The American league championship series between the 2 teams will also certainly be tougher than the world series itself hehehe.

Quite possibly.  Houston vs yankees is what I want to see I think that would be a great series.  Hitting, pitching they have it all.

In the west dodgers all come down to game 5 and have to face off vs Strasburg for washington.  That would definately be a huge upset if dodgers lose the series.  Cant wait to watch that one tomorrow.

@wheelz1200. Another one, Tampa Bay has forced the Astros for a 5th game hehe. The Astros also had Justin Verlander on the mound. What an upset this might also be.

Every series is tied 2-2 except the Yankees.

It's been years since I last watch a MLB game. I used to watch the Yankees when Jeter was still with them.

Verlander or Cole from houston will be winning the cy young award.  And probably cody bellinger will win mvp over in the national league.  In the american trout will win it but the Angels suck, wasting away trout's prime years.

So yanks are in, and looks like st louis will be in.  Hopefully houston loses dont want to see the yanks have to play them....side note some dude put a $3m bet on houston to win the world series.  Payout is around 7 mil.  Dude is sweating his nuggets right now

@Bttzed03. I am a baseball casual hehehe. I only watch it more closely on the post season. The regular season is hard to follow because there are so many games.

Well they are getting the washington nationals.  Holy wow that was a crazy day of baseball.  I only hope tonight's game brings as much drama as last nights game.  The dodgers manager screwd that one up, why he kept Kelly in for 2 innings is way beyond me.  No reason to put clayton in the 8th inning either.  He had all of his relievers ready for only 6 outs needed.

@mich. Baseball is not similar to basketball or most other team sports, I reckon. The skeptical me thinks the news article is made to create some interest in the championship series which became unexciting when the Nationals won versus the Dodgers hehe.

The HOUSTON ASTROS will play at home vs NY YANKEES tonight and the oddsmakers sound like they expect HOUSTON to play WASHINGTON in the WS next
Since it will be very hard for NYY to win 2 games in a row on the Road in HOUSTON

I Love Baseball as well and I am a fan of New York Yankees, Well even though right now the lead is on Houston Astros and right now at game 6 before it starts I guess Yankees will make a huge comeback I really think that this Game 6 will be a bullpen fight and for Houston saving Gerrit Cole for Game 7 on the unexpected,

This is a tough call but I really love the Yankees and I think they had high leverage on Bullpen arm over Houston and even though Yankees are playing on the enemies turf and despite Astro's 60-21 record at home during the regular season  I think Yankees can manage this.

I reckon because the Nationals wins through their good rotation of their offense. However, the Astros have the best pitching rotation in MLB. They might not play as well, similar to what they did versus the Dodgers and the Cardinals.

Casual fan here as well, I love baseball but there are so many regular season games that if I wanted to follow my favourite team it will feel as if I had a second job, it seems the Astros are favoured to win the world series, but the Nationals are well rested, perhaps too well rested, and that could play a factor for good or bad, personally I always go for the underdog since I like a good story but fortunately for us the time we have to wait for the world series to begin is almost over.

This is shaping up to be an epic world series.  The starting pitching is top class.  Splitting hairs when picking between Houston's starting 3 or Washington's starting 3.  This series will all come down to which team will hit better with RISP.  The yankees missed key opportunities and sucked it up with RISP hitting.  I'd like to see washington win this WS, sorry Harper  :P

Yeah washington offered Bryce $300mil to stay and he declined to join the Phillies.  Phillies missed the playoffs and washington is now in the world series lel.  Anyway game 1 in the books and washington just beat Houston's ACE in Cole in Houston!! Houston definately has to be on its heels right now.  If washington wins game 2 it's almost lights out for houston

UPDATED Odds To Win The 2019 World Series

Looking like the nationals are going to win their first series.  To think this team was 12 games under .500 and now on the brink of the world series.  Good for them, hope they pull it off.  I think they need to wrap it up in washington if they want to win it.  If they have to go back to houston the pressure is going to start to mount

It was impressive to see such debacle after Verlander left and now the Astros have no other choice but to win game 3 otherwise it will be almost impossible to win the world series.


You were right RISP played a very important role especially during the second game, against such starting pitchers you need to take advantage of every opportunity that it comes and the Astros have been terrible at it, lets see if they take a different approach now the designated hitter rule will not be in effect.

I tend to think the national league benefits from the no dh games.  In the american league teams sign players just to be designated hitters and when they play in the national league those power guys either have to sit or the team has to make a defensive sacrifice and put them in the field.  Also the national league pitchers are used to batting whereas Houston's pitchers (besides Greinke) will be an automatic out.  Tough road ahead for houston

It might also be a good time to be a contrarian hehehe. The Astros have the players and was the favorite when the world series began.

This game right now appears that the Astros will win 1 in Washington, maybe 2 if drive continues.

It's looking like the Astros would even out the series if the Nats fail to make some runs just like the last game.

After the Astros got their first win on Washington, the odds for the series swung to 55-45 in favor of the Nats. If they tie this series odds would probably go back to where it started(-200~ for Astros and +300 for Nats). I hope Nats win one at home so the series could go to the distance because if they lose here it seems like Astros would close it out.

@wheelz1200. The Astros almost gave the game to the Nationals when the Astros' manager removed Jose Urquidy for James.

In any case, if the Astros win this game the next game will be the most decisive for this series. Gerrit Cole versus Max Scherzer rematch hehehe!

I predict it will be the Astros on game 6.

I begun the game on the 4th inning expecting a hard rematch for Gerrit Cole and Max Scherzer. I was disappointed to see the Nationals already gave 2 runs and a relief pitcher pitching. Astros on game 6 hehehe!

Ypu look to be right.  Wierd thing is the away team won every one of the games so far.  Astros definately are sitting good to take the series but anything can happen in 2 games.  I really hope washington wins game 6 so we can have a game 7.  I always love do or die games.  Go nats!

@wheelz1200. There would be a 50% chance of a game 7 only if the Astros and the Nationals were equals, more if the Nationals were stronger. However, the Astros have the best team. :(

In any case, Max Scherzer had back spasms and did not start game 5. I thought he was relieved before the 4th inning.

That's actually really good odds to lay on washington.  Tonight they go with Strasburg and have a real good chance of winning.  If they get to a game 7 it's really anyone's game as 1 game anything can happen.  I might have to take a hard look at that might be worth a punt.  Odds on houston are terrible considering Strasburg goes tonight against Verlander

Last time they won it was also with Strasburg as much as I want the series to reach game 7 I don't think the Astros would give them another chance I feel they've adapted well after their first 2 losses. Their head to head stats points to the Nats winning since they have a better record on the road. I agree the odds are terrible for the Astros' ML I might take the run line since the winning margin is always by more than 2 runs.

@wheelz1200. Also, everyone might forget that Justin Verlander is only 1 - 3 on the post season hehe.

In any case, I reckon the Nationals might not have lost game 5 if they used Strasburg as Max Scherzer's emergency replacement.

We all got our wish there will be a game 7, to be honest the series so far was not really exciting before game 6, the only close game was game 1 but the rest were very clear wins, but game 6 brought the series back to life, Strasburg pitched almost the whole game, Nationals came back from a 1-2 score with two home runs, the interference call was controversial, then we had a very long review of a play I thought it was impossible to review, and the ejection of manager Martinez added spice to the series, and I can only hope game 7 is as exciting as this game was.

I think this game is gonna be as good as last years finish.  My money would be on Scherzer and the washington nationals on this one.  Max is a big time pitcher that is perfect for this type of game.  And besides they are on the road so they have to win  ;D. Enjoy the game all!

I'm also on the Nationals for this game 7 both teams look the greatest when they're playing on the road and struggle at home. I don't get how the odds are this close though I was expecting a more favorable odds for the Astros since Scherzer is slightly injured or it's because there's too much money coming on the Nationals' side.

Edit : Those late runs by the Nats sealing the deal for this game.

Definitely a great game to end the season, we witnessed history unfolding as for the first time all games were won by the visiting team, Scherzer had problems during all the innings and despite allowing 2 runs he still limited the Astros and then Corbin and Hudson came to close the door and did not allow any more runs, Greinke on the other hand never really struggled until the 7th inning, which was the turning point of this game, and I wonder what would have happened if the manager did not got him out of the game that soon?

Congratulations to the Nationals and their fans, this is a World Series we will never forget.

What a game and what a series!  Amazingly all 7 games were won by the away team.  Maybe next hear teams want to tank a little to only barely get into the playoffs lol.  More money was definately on houston in this one and I thought more would come in on houston too.  They are generally a great home team.  Gonna lock this thread since the season is now done.
