Anyone else seeing this pop-up message ^ ?

I am using Brave browser and it's my first time seeing this.

I checked their latest announcement and saw an update for android and about Uphold verification only.

Are you sure this was on bitcointalk.org? Isn't it bitcointalk.to or some other phishing?
Don't install. Maybe you should move this to meta.

Never saw this message

I'm 99.99% sure this is unrelated to BitcoinTalk. I'm also using Brave and haven't seen anything like this.

Did you allow the installation of this extension? Do you have anything else installed? Some malware make you install extensions or modify pages to show up ads or their custom contents.

It is bitcointalk.org

No, I blocked it.

I have other extensions installed (mostly wallets) but they're not new.

I'll reboot and see what happens.

Edit: After a minute or so, the message no longer shows up.

Are you using the built in crypto wallets on your brave browser?
Based on their latest update (http://malwaretips.com/threads/brave-browser-0-69-132.95408/), they've added a "dapp detection" which automatically suggests that pop up to users.

Though the problem with this is, basically bitcointalk.org isn't a dapp.

Dude. You should definitely click on allow. That would be the best wallet ever....... WTF?!?! Are you kidding me with this. If you think for one second that that is anything but a scam or phishing attempt, I worry about your sanity. Thanks for bringing this up though. Awareness and education are a scammer's worst enemies.

Thanks for this.
I remember setting up a brave wallet for the brave rewards before but never really used it.

They probably extended on crypto-related sites.

LOL. What a total joke.
This is one of the newest feature introduced in Brave browser and yet here you're, talking like it's been released for years  ::).

Well, let me rephrase what you've just said: "If you instantly clicked the allow button without checking/asking if it's safe, then you're insane."

They probably extended on crypto-related sites.

That's possible.
They must have included sites like bitcointalk to advertise their new product update. (or probably algo problem)

IMO, it's better to wait for some time before using it. New software updates often have a follow-up bug fixing in its early stage after the release.

I see this pop-up feature was released yesterday in 0.69.132 (https://malwaretips.com/threads/brave-browser-0-69-132.95408/), but not seeing it myself on this latest stable version.
Are you running the dev/nightly build of Brave rather than stable? It was merged back in July (https://github.com/brave/brave-core/pull/2678) by looks of it.

Likewise here, using Brave and not getting any pop up. Probably the pop-up will search for something that doesn't exist imo, ie not malicious.

Why the heck would Brave browsers add something like this?
I have it installed but it is not my first browser, and I this is the first time I see this pop-up stuff.

Maybe check your installed extensions, disable them all, and then try to surf again

@op add this to the main topic, otherwise ignorant comments will keep coming up, or close this thread.

It looks like Brave just shot himself in the foot with this latest update.

I have also been using Brave for some time now on one of my computers to keep up to date and to have a full understanding of what is happening in the browser market.
It is not without significance that Brave is considered to be the safest browser available today, so even more, I am not surprised to see all those comments from disgusted and surprised users who are accustomed to the complete lack of ads and exactly such popups in Brave, which additionally were blocked by default until a couple of days ago. This, not quite well thought out update, opened the gate needed for hackers.

I am curious is this a coincident or intentional action (for example, some bad actors) because it is hard to believe that Brave developers did not foresee such a finale for this update?
