Title: How to protect your token's
Post by: akirasendo17 on October 09, 2019, 09:31:13 AM
There are lots of people who shouted for help every time i open the forum lots of them are scammed, lost a key for their wallets and more,
here are some tips that you can do to avoid this kind of incidents
1. Keep your keys for wallets in a secure place where you can easily access but others can't
This is the number one rule of thumb for me keep it in a safe place that accessible by you but not to other people
2. Never share your passwords to anyone
Remember even the closes person to you can turn you down sometimes, and hit you really hard when you don't expect
its okay to trust people around you but there should be a distance or a position where in okay you can't know everything about me its
too personal.
3. If you keep your keys codes etc in your computer make sure you always have a backup a clone for the drive to be safe.
This is the last one for me but this should be at first procedure you should do first always keep your backup because we all know
you don't know when your computer encounter a problem specially windows , which a lot of users are using ,
there you go this are some simple steps that can be done i hope this can help you keep you codes and keys safe every time

If you are using a computer to keep a record of all the private keys of your coins then make sure to encrypt the text file with notepad++ and nppcrypt which will add one layer of protection.
Then you can even archive the file with another password and remove the extension of the file.
Also, make sure to make multiple copies of the file in different secondary storage devices.

I protect my tokens or wallets by avoiding phishing, you can do this by always checking the URL of the website before entering any sensitive details like private keys or if your tokens are stored on eth network always use metamask for PC and Trust wallet for android. Avoid clicking suspicious links on emails too. Still, the safest way is to have a hardware wallet.

I think the only way to protect tokens as much as possible is to use a hardware wallet: obviously it must support the tokens concerned.
The knowledge of information technology and the prudence of people are still below the minimum necessary levels.

the most important thing is that you don't recklessly access your wallet.
1. if you use a software wallet / WEB wallet
- before you want to access the wallet make sure the site is tagged, to avoid pishing sites.
2. if you use a hardware wallet
- like Terzor or Ledger Nano S for the security of your cryptoqurrwncy wallet.
I use a web wallet, and so far I have no problems in my wallet.

You have your point but when we say keep your keys in a secure place are you talking about offline place or online storage that you can store your keys securely?

Most of the reasons why others lost their funds or was scammed was because of their own negligence. Though there are other cases that were being brute force by hackers so we can't deny that this kind of cases are out of our reach.

But if you lost your funds because of phishing, trusting others that you only know online, giving your private keys to other people without thinking the consequences. These are all negligence of the owner.

How to protect our tokens is our own responsibility and our own initiative. Of course that pointer you shared are very helpful for everyone. I will just add something which is the presence of mind everytime we log in our account s and wallets to any sites and secure that the site is legal and not a phishing site.

These tips are helpful and necessary for us to do to get rid of scammers and thieves. However, it is still important for us to entrust our keys at least to our most trusted person for emergency purposes. We don't know what will happen in the future so there should be one person who could access it if something happens to us. Protecting our funds and wallets depends on us so we have to be responsible in handling and keeping it.

Thanks for sharing this  it more useful to  me   but i will advise people also write  down their  private keys and  keep  it at  safe place.  also  when you are  keeping your private keys on your computer  make sure  you will also  installed  premium anti-virus on your device.  Never used cracked software because most  of these cracked software are full of malware.  always use full version software and keep your software updated always..

and one more rule I will add - do not store keys on the computer at all, because they can be stolen. it is better to throw on a flash drive and put bitloker on it. then you can sleep peacefully without thinking about the leakage of information

I store all my private keys via an offline PC. I use the HDD of a PC I have never connected to the internet and a flash disk that is used offline. So I am getting 2 different offline backups.

Hardware wallet is safe when it's not infected with a viruses. Some strategies of hackers and phishing attackers made malwares that redirects your wallet to hackers portal. Even if you're using online wallet like metamask or other installed wallet, it's very important that accessing a computer must be protected with strong security software in order to provide secured protection.

Why not get a separate and cheap laptop to hold our tokens and keep the privately safe as well? As a safe practice, don't click everything on see on the web as phishing attacks is already on the rise just this year. And remember that once you are online there's that risk that's why I would rather put everything on a hardware (pc or laptop) that doesn't connect on the internet, just saying.

There are several ways that I am using to protect those wallets. First of all, I have a written backup phrases and secret keys for every wallet. And secondly, I am trying to spread my funds among different wallets and exchanges to reduce the risks.

If you are going to protect your coin without having to worry every time you got surfing the internet, use Linux system. Gauranteed that whatever you download online like movies, porn and images you are sure that there ain't no bugs, worms and rats that go along with it. Hackers are just waiting for signs that someone had gotten their trojan horse and they can then scan your files for info, could be your paypal account or crypto wallets/.

I always keep my private key in several hard disks, flashdisks, smartphones so that the crypto wallet is safer, if you store it in one computer at a time it will definitely get hacked or have a virus attack, but if it is double you can handle it and look at several other storage places.

We have different ways on how we can protect our cryptocurrencies and wallet. Until now my private key and my cryptocurrencies are still safe simply because I put my private key or my password in a folder and the folder has password where I am only one who knows it. Basically, having two types of wallet can also help to protect your cryptocurrencies. I have been using hardware wallet which is more secure and it is my main storage of my cryptocurrencies.

I just want to add that if you want to review your token balances for a specific address then just use a blockchain explorer like etherscan.io and insert just your public key or wallet address, with this you do not need to input your private key every time you want to check your balance. I'm just adding this because one of my friend was like this before until he learn that he can still see his balance without logging-in his private key.

This has been said many times, yet people still get predisposed to back and the likes, because it is not 100% safe, even without you letting out your security details to a third party. If you cannot afford a hardware wallet now, you can prepare towards that, perhaps, as soon as you start having enough fund that you do not wish to lose in your portfolio.

All of your advices that you have listed is very helpful and true because getting a back up, not sharing to anyone, and keeping your private keys in a secured place is the things that you should do for you not to get steal and hack. I also think that there are a lot of hackers nowadays, that is why having an online wallet is not that safe, even they have the greatest security features because if a great hacker could access to it your funds will be automatically gone.

the majority of helpful tips that are necessary have already been mentioned. :)
it is important to create wallets as good as possible offline. the data must never be allowed on the internet!
and of course ledger, trezor etc.
additionally use a passwordsafe and if necessary deposit a master password as backup with a family member you trust without restrictions. that was a short summary.

I think the most important tips among those 3 tips is tip number 2. In this industry we all don't know who we will going to trust except in ourselves because like you said even the most trustable man in industry will turn you down if talk about token and investment. So make your personal information secured and private specially if we talk about digital wallet, coins or investment.

The most common problem why their private keys got stolen is that they paste it on a phising websites my myetherwallet and other websites. And some uses it on some airdrops that requires private keys but be careful as most of the airdrops that asks for your private keys is a 100% scam and don't get fool on that.

It's better safe than to be sorry of course so only tell about your password to someone very close but if you don't have anyone else to trust, then don't. Trusting someone is difficult nowadays that even those related to you by blood can turn their backs to you. I prefer hard wallet but if you think soft wallets is more efficient for you, then follow your reference since both of them are secure in theory.

This happened even with those who are no longer newbies from this industry, people who's been easily tricked due to lack of knowledge or being greed to believe that airdrops or freebies are worthy to provide your private keys. This should be taking care, phishing sites and hackers are all together waiting for possible victims that is carelessly moving around this market.

Learning from hard mistakes can be avoided if you will plan well before doing anything, OP mentioned some of those important factors to consider but it's highly advice to deeply do your research for more available references to secure your assets.

I think the best way to project your tokens is by protecting your private keys first. And the best way to protect your private key is by saving on a flash drive where you can keep it offline. don't share your private keys with anyone and keep your flash drive in a hidden place where no one can find it easily.

Yes, passwords and private keys are most important when it comes to hacking or theft. Even unknowingly also we should not misplace it. The 2FA apply will also play important role keeping our accounts safe.
One more thing to add.
Phishing email. We have to be very careful and never should login to accounts via links provided in email.
Moreover to this, we should keep our investment in multiple wallets so that even if something goes wrong, our  remaing investment will be safe with other wallets.

Hardware wallet is safer to use than online wallet because we hold full control without a third party, but we have to really keep the private key elsewhere for more gated. Never click on a site that contains phishing because it can eliminate all your coins.

Most people keep their tokens in an exchange's wallets that is why they got hacked, when they keep it in a wallet then it is impossible for the hacker to get into the wallets.People should also avoid entering into the cloning sites while looking for the exchanges which is the strategy used by hacker to steal our funds.

Keeping private keys on the Computer is not safe too! You have to compress and lock it to be 100% safe. Because Computer hack is not a big deal for hackers. Personally, I wrote down my phrase codes in a paper and kept a very safe place. I never took a photo of my phrase codes, never wrote the private keys on my phone or PC and never enter online! So, now I feel totally safe!

To secure your funds, I would suggest everyone buy a Ledger hardware wallet! The price is very cheap. If you can't bear the present price of Ledger/Trezor hardware then wait for the Black Friday when the price will be 50% down than now and buy it!

It is always best to use Ledger/Trezor rather than any kind of wallet so far. Well there are other hardware wallets or even paper wallets but Ledger and Trezor have always been the two most trusted in terms of security and safety of coins. There is no need to risk on hot wallets when you can afford to buy even the cheapest Ledger. In terms of saving seed and PIN, it is better to go back to the old note and pen technique rather than on soft copies which could still be accessed online.

so far, what i have done is store my coins in hardware wallet, ledger nano s. This thing is very safe. Unlike storing in a wallet exchange that can someday be hacked or bankrupt. With hardware wallet, we can easily access it anytime. Certainly with mnemonic or private key that only we know. Long-term investing becomes safer.

Its easy to keep your private keys or recovery seeds safe even if you are sharing your computer with friends and family, use winzip or winrar to compress the folder you keep all your keys in and you should consider adding security password to the compress folder, use a very strong password and you are good to go

Make sure you have a basic protection for you laptop or computer, never visit any random sites and the best practice is to hold your tokens or coins in a separate hardware wallet or a pen drive and not in a computer which is online, have a paid antivirus software and never use any cracked software or download anything from other sources.

Using hardware wallet is indeed the safest wallet to use, having a default 2FA and a private key that will surely protect you to any hackers. Since it is not accessed through online and you have a physical device which you can track and protect on your own, compared on using online wallets or any application wallet where you have a small percentage of being worry since you cant access it all the time unless you have your comouter or mobile device.

In 99 percent of cases, no hacking occurs, a person simply somehow, which, as a rule, does not remember, compromises his keys, and then writes on the fiction forum about the fact that his wallet was hacked. In the world of blockchain, you cannot hack into something that is not accessible. Your system or device may be hacked, but the fact that you stored your private keys on it is your fault.

First of all, you need to understand that under the influence of deception, new users who do not have experience are caught. Fraudsters take advantage of this and they managed to snatch the biggest jackpot in 2017 when cryptocurrency gained worldwide popularity. Our task, and this forum in particular, is to provide newcomers with information to reduce the risk of scam for new arrivals. Unfortunately, not all newcomers go ahead for knowledge, and therefore fall into scam.

so far, what i have done is store my coins in hardware wallet, ledger nano s. This thing is very safe. Unlike storing in a wallet exchange that can someday be hacked or bankrupt. With hardware wallet, we can easily access it anytime. Certainly with mnemonic or private key that only we know. Long-term investing becomes safer.

In 99 percent of cases, no hacking occurs, a person simply somehow, which, as a rule, does not remember, compromises his keys, and then writes on the fiction forum about the fact that his wallet was hacked. In the world of blockchain, you cannot hack into something that is not accessible. Your system or device may be hacked, but the fact that you stored your private keys on it is your fault.

well said if you keep your find out the correct place where other people's cannot access your private key. That is the best place for your security I don't think anyone can hack the any cryptocurrency wallet.
Some of the valid providers for centralised and have access on your wallet private key apart from this there is no problem for us.

The brilliant way how to use Ethereum wallet safely is storing the private key in a MetaMask application and access to your Etherum and ERC-20 tokens through this app, hackers will not see your private key  :).
And the another positive thing is that MetaMask allows you to send cryptocurrencies with lowest possible fees.  :)

This is the last one for me but this should be at first procedure you should do first always keep your backup because we all know
you don't know when your computer encounter a problem specially windows , which a lot of users are using ,
there you go this are some simple steps that can be done i hope this can help you keep you codes and keys safe every time

i agree with your words above
but, sometimes people click a phising link and put their private key ,
and if that happend people must move all their assets from that wallet to a new wallet
anyway in my opinion the best way to protect our tokens in by hold it in hardware wallet my friend

That is actually one of the main reason why their wallet has been intruded by hackers, especially when they receive an email regarding a certain site where they might put their private keys, just like before, fake myetherwallet has been created and many crypto users are affected. Luckily for those who is saving myetherwallet in their bookmark they are not become a victim of it.

The best measure to prevent hacking is the lack of any information about your assets. If you are not talking about your cryptocurrencies in real or virtual life, most likely no one will even try to hack your wallets or accounts.
Of course, basic precautions should be.
yeah, i think that's a good idea.
indeed to prevent someone interested in our wallets, do not tell someone about the assets we have.
sometimes because the information we provide makes someone interested in finding out more about us.

indeed simple but in my opinion that's the most important part to prevent someone from hacking the contents of our wallet.

The best way if you are using online wallet is to bookmark the wallet to avoid getting phishing and to keep your private key secured. If you want to secure your finds, better to put it in a hardware wallet than storing it in an online wallet. That way you can wnsure that your private keys are safe and to create a duplicate hard copy of your codes and access.

That's true, by saving the wallet to your bookmarks, you dont need to click for the links that was sent to you via email or even those posted link in social media or in any site that were crypto related. It helps us to prevent to become a victim of phising. Also use a hardware wallet as possible to assure the safety of your tokens/coins.

checking links on the web may have to be needed all the time because phishing is now starting to openly attack asset owners and phishing is good at making the web almost 100% similar to the original web so it can avoid phishing when we open the wallet

You need to use a reliable wallet to protect your tokens there. In ethereum blockchain, use the wallet that doesn't require private key every time you want to use. Metemask for example, it doesn't use private key to send the tokens, but using browser extension, much safer than myetherwallet i think.

Hardware wallets are safe if you are ready to have it. Generally I think we should keep our private keys safe and never disclose it to anyone not even your closest pal. Also if you must protect your protect your tokens you should be mindful of sites you click so as not to get hacked. There should be a back up of your private key.

Right, the solution to securing assets in a wallet is to use a hardware wallet, because the hardware wallet is very functional for asset security, I also want to have it for a long time, only for now I don't have the capital to buy it, but I will still try to get a hardware wallet.

Hardware wallets are little tricker to use. Moreover, hardware wallets are subject to various exposures which could ruin the data within. So better stick with soft copies of private keys. I would suggest to rather write private keys on paper and keep it in safer place.

I dont find it tricky to use, its user friendly for me. Hardware wallet has its own instructions and if you cant understand it, you can use google to learn how to use it. Its east to use and its more safe than using any online wallet to store cryptocurrency. When it comes to private keys, you can use google drive, it is safe and secured with 2FA verification.

It is usually a keylogger that can collect the data and the computer injected malware has an authorization for infection which can change the typed crypto address when the user wants to send funds to another crypto wallet. For avoiding phishing double-checking the crypto address before sending the funds is a necessary to step for protecting the both privacy and security.

Create an account on computers that are not connected to the internet used offline wallet apps. keep your Private key carefully. Avoid unnecessary logins.
This will prevent anything to happen inside your hard machine, without any connections from the internet your wallet is safe. Old ways but still usable to anyone who wanted to stay safe with limited budget. You don't need to buy a hardware wallet to store your assets. it just an old computer everything will be safe enough.

Hard wallet is the choice for many people to secure their assets. In my opinion the most important thing is to protect the seed word or private key and not spread it to other parties. In addition, always be careful when visiting websites that we don't know yet

For protecting the crypto assets listening to the security experts, understanding the working mechanism and having an investment plan will help the investors to get rid of the crypto scammers. I never open the links from the crypto exchange related sites, even if the mail header has an official title I double-check the source of mail address with contacting the support team before opening the attached file on the mentioned mail.

Remember even the closes person to you can turn you down sometimes, and hit you really hard when you don't expect
its okay to trust people around you but there should be a distance or a position where in okay you can't know everything about me its

We can easily protect our funds if we know what we are doing, many people losing their tokens because they do not know what they are doing. Having a lot of knowledge and information can help us to do the right things in order to not lose our funds.

Your point you pointed out is very very correct on how to protect your token's, because no person can be trusted by showing the third party your private keys, mostly myetherwallet.com, and it can be change if your quick sensible enough from fishing. Hence is good to saved it alone and have a back up.

Thanks for this enlightment, i would make the necessary research about this and see how i can stay off the hook from these hackers. I also encourage we having separate computers that we make some transactions on. For instance ever since i got hacked, i have moved my private keys from my online pc and have got a new one where i save them. Also i use this new one to send funds and nothing else in crypto activities.

Hardware wallet are pretty solid. State of the art kinda security. They are efficient but owning one doesn't make you invincible to attacks ( Be it physical threats or human errors or hack attempts). Hardware wallets does the heavy lifting and thoroughly secures your assets but you've an important role to play in all of these. First, You shouldn't advertise your crypto worth to anybody. It's completely inadvisable ( It's like flashing off your dick anyway).

Next, Make sure you properly safeguard your recovery phase. Don't lose them else you might be locking everyone including yourself from accessing your coins.

Very interesting. First, you advise you to keep your keys in a safe place (that is, not on the computer), and then there is advice about the keys on the device.
You have amused me. In fact, very typical tips, of which a huge amount on the forum.
Security is remoteness. Keep private users on paper, or on a computer without access to the Internet or anywhere else where access is limited as much as possible.

To protect your crypto assets you need to get a wallet with a trusted secuirty tools . make sure you save your private keys in a safe place. do not reveal yoyr private key . if you are to use a password avoid using a password that is easy to predict . also , try to avoid phising links , dont click links that lead to your wallets expecially from sites you are not sure of.

Protecting your crypto assets is a simple one. Get personal wallets for all your funds and back them up with double layered passwords. Avoiding leaving your funds on exchanges, also, avoid phishing sites. Doing these you are some percent secured.

Although many suggest keeping tokens on hard wallets, for me keeping top exchanges like binance or okex is the safest thing, they are equipped with all security features including identity verification so that it is easier to recover if there is a problem.

This is just apt. This is digital time but it is unsafe to keep your wallet private keys in the Google cloud or any online safe, especially when you are prone to being hacked. The best way to keep your wallet private keys is to do so in analogy. Write somewhere and keep it safe. You can code it in case you fear someone might see it.

Better not to do it. What I mean is don't store your passwords or private keys on computers. If you mostly download everything using that computer better stop. Re-write your passphrase, private keys or seeds and keep it that it's unreachable by a stranger or even a relative. Another tip, don't be too boastful with your crypto profits.
Never brag it on internet.

Better to keep your phrase , private key in a safe folder or you can also keep it in a notepad and make sure that you only can access your account nad make a secured password within the application that you stored your private key and phrase. Those who have been hacked their wallet is themselves to blame , maybe they gave the wrong wallet address instead only the address they gave their own private key.

unfortunately you also have to be careful with natural disasters or fires, my friend has experienced it, the key phrase is stored on paper and at that time there was a fire at his home,
unfortunately, because my friend went out, so he didn't have time to save his property, especially the key phrase, this could be a lesson, we actually have to save our key phrases online and offline, just in case,

good information, a little extra from me. in addition to negligence, lack of safety factors also causes loss of balance in the wallet.
I suggest to use a double security be it email, and other accounts.
then do not ever open a strange web, or that you have never opened before, even if forced to open it make sure the web is safe, you will see the connection in the upper left corner if you open it through chrome, the last if you use a public computer make sure you log out and delete your history , to anticipate theft.

To protect your token safety is sell your coin and withdraw your bitcoin or altcoin become cash money and put in on the bank, its one way how to protect your coin, or other thing you can save your token with new exchange wallet and never joined any ICO or airdrop, use offline hard ware wallet for access to new your coin, its the best thing for safety your token.

Indeed there's a lot of cases now saying they got scammed or they lost it that's why we should always secure our accounts and keys. Since we're in the digital era, it's more prone to such things since it's easier for people to find ways to scam other people. Make sure not to disclose your passwords with anyone especially when you don't trust that person. Also another precaution is to avoid using public internet cafes when accessing your account. It's more risky and vulnerable for theft and hacks. It's better to use your own pc, laptop, or phone.

This is not what is meant by protecting our altcoin, which is clear we ourselves must choose which wallet is good for us to use to store our digital assets from the bounty or purchase. we certainly do not want to get losses from investment or other results that are very detrimental to us

Thanks for your suggestion, I must said that never believe anyone even it's your closer friends, if not you never know that when the closer friends will stolen your crypto assets. Furthermore, don't screenshot or save the seed on computer while connecting the internet, make sure computer is virus free. Anyway, you can use usb drive to backup our wallet dat file, create a hidden partition in usb drivers and safe all the private file inside.

Although many suggest keeping tokens on hard wallets, for me keeping top exchanges like binance or okex is the safest thing, they are equipped with all security features including identity verification so that it is easier to recover if there is a problem.

Not your key, not your money. It all depends on the amount of money.
I would never deposit more than 10k $ at an exchange.
In the history I saw to many bad things with big exchanges, I trust not a single one.

I don't have many coins or other large portfolios, I only have a few tokens from the bounty campaign so I only rely on metamask and MEW wallets. the rest depends on the portfolio you have, if you have lots of coins or valuable coins. I recommend using a hardware wallet to make it safer.

this information is very helpful, I've done it. storing private keys in a secure manner is something that needs to be done. other than that, I'm also not interested in giving my password to other people, that's a dangerous thing. I prefer to send tokens directly. in the matter of storing private keys, I would certainly back up in a safe place like a hard disk, and so on. Yeah, but another safe way is to store it on the hardwallet

In my own way I keep my private key to my hard drive then I'm not connecting my device in any public connection because we all know that hackers are always in there. I do not click any suspicious link because for sure it was a trap and every time i'll make transaction on my MEW I always clear my browser history and clear cache to avoid seeing what I'm doing because I have a relatives which is also using my personal computer.

Been few years that i try to brute force it, no result as i remember adding a lot of special caractere.

Otherwise, the benefit effect will be minimal. It is no secret that many security questions can be found on the forum using the search. I would advise everyone to do so, and only then ask questions if they remain.

I do discourage people a lot about using online wallet because no matter how hard you try, as far as you are connected to the internet at all times, I think online wallet are at a very risk of being hacked no matter how hard you try to secure it when it comes to internet, hackers are very good at it and some of them do go for the training specially, although some hacker turned bad but they were never trained to actually use it for illegal thing which I believe that some of them even do swear an oath, but even at that I have seen some terrible ones turn against the oath, so the best way to still keep one's wallet secured to just strictly make use of hardware wallet, that is the only guarantee that we can get we will not be very much attacked.

You must always be careful when using crypto wallets, Minor negligence can harm you and even you will lose all crypto assets in your wallet. The security of your crypto assets is entirely your responsibility, so try to improve the security of your wallet, so it is not easily hacked by people who are not responsible.

private key is indeed a primary key that must be secured and should be stored in a place that does not have an internet connection and must be careful when accessing your wallet, don't forget to backup the data if necessary for the security of your wallet.

The thing is that a lot of us lives a care free life when it comes to keeping our cryptocurrency, before I paid attention to securing my wallet more with a very strong password, and activating all those necessary security tools like 2fa factor, I had really been reading lots of suggestions from people about keeping your key, and not until after some months it came on me that I have really not done as they have said because it has never happened to me before, but the thing is that, we should never wait till it happens to us before we start thinking of how to now secure the wallet, because before then, the damage may have been too much for us to bear, which could even make us to quite the cryptocurrency market complete if we don’t take care.

Hardwares are more advisable for long hold coins/tokens. Because the ease of access is usually a problem for me. I prefer a well backed up imtoken 2 or Trust Wallet with access to my finger print such that even if I loose the phone, someone can't crack my password. These mobile wallets are among the safest too if you observe basic safety precautions

I think the best way to protect your tokens is by using the hardware wallet, the wallet that is completely off-the-grid. Both bitcoin and altcoins wallets often get hacked for using insecure secure networks. So the best to stay safe by using the offline hardware wallet or save your private key on the offline drive.

Much better if your private key is not on your personal computer, just only use it if need arise. Just leave some funds on your exchanges for daily trading, and keep all tokens on your hardware wallet, that way you are not always/frequently retrieving your funds on your hardware wallet.

The best way to really keep a token safe is for one to really make use of a hardware wallet, they are the safest now, wallet like Nano ledger has been in existence for a very long period of time, and none of them has ever failed any of their users as they are quite very difficult to get hacked, and the only way that such wallet can get hacked is when the owner is loosed with it and allow it to get to the hand of the hacker directly.

Another way I feel is also safe to keep one's key from hackers is also to use a paper wallet, with paper wallet, you can decide to keep your codes in a safe and secret place that will ever be difficult for anybody to see it. One cannot trust friends with paper wallet the way cryptocurrency has been exposed to everyone now.

Yes, I agree that you represent all the major parts of how to protect tokens. Back to yourself, the key to privacy is the important thing that must be maintained, it is access to save the hard work that has been done, so it is wise if you have it

Keep it safe in the eyes of anyone, hardware wallet will help you to be more protected as long as you will not share any information and you will avoid using your system online.

Protecting your assets needs you to make more extra effort in finding ways to add security not just to relied with what is available but to extend to find more ideas.

It's not that people don't know about hardware wallet but most of the people having a hard time obtaining one. The price is quite high for most of people not to mention that the majority of people using crypto still being dominated by people who just owns few bucks in their wallet. People are still in early stage of using cryptos except the experienced whales. Also people coming from less developed country usually need to import these hardware wallet and face the hard time dealing with the taxation so basically not viable solution for worldwide users.

agree with your opinion because it is very important and avoid to surf on sites that we do not know to avoid theft of our wallet and the safest store in our external devices that have key access or code that only we know because security is our own

It is very easy to keep your coins safe, just don't do anything wrong. You will be exposed to any kind of hacking only if you do something wrong. So I think the spirit of this thread is wrong. We should talk about Don'ts instead of Do's.
Just don't expose your private keys in any compromised situation and your money is safe. No need to set 2FA, encryptions, buy hardware and other bla bla. Make sure to access wallet in secure condition and no one can touch your money.

1. Keep your keys for wallets in a secure place where you can easily access but others can't

There could be some times in which people are giving phishing links that will download a virus and then steal information from you. So beware. This is why people does not recommend putting your private key onto your mails.

2. Never share your passwords to anyone
Remember even the closes person to you can turn you down sometimes, and hit you really hard when you don't expect

You're right this is somehow should be considered. Nobody knows your death this is why you should consider telling this to your close ones.

3. If you keep your keys codes etc in your computer make sure you always have a backup a clone for the drive to be safe.
Make sure to hide it on a folder and to a folder and to another folder for security.

Keep safe everyone! The only person that can protect yourselves is just YOU!

If you are holding a huge amount of different altcoins, i suggest to make a wallet for each of them even if they use the same blockchain and store the privatekeys on different USB or ledger (if you're rich) so if ever one of your wallet get hacked then they can't get all your funds, easy as pie :)

There are several ways to protect your token from scammers or hackers, or from yourself by losing it.
I always save my wallet information such as addresses, private keys, in some files and password it.
To prevent phishing, we need to careful about the link in the email we received, and the website we use to open wallet.

Terrible idea, you are trusting a third party with your coins, if you are going to do that then hold fiat and store it in your bank and hope they do not take that money away from you, when it comes to crypto there are many different solutions but all of them must revolve around the same concept, you should be the only one that stores your coins and knows your private keys, if you do not do that then you will always rely on a third party and how trusted they can be with your money.

Agree, it's better to keep it in our own place that is not connected to the internet such as on an external hard drive or using a hardwallet. Using third-party storage is very vulnerable and in my opinion keeping private on the internet is a dangerous thing for the security of the coins we store.

Hard wallet is a good idea but there are risks as well because it has to be kept in a safe place wherein nobody else should have access to it as if someone just misplaces it by mistake then it will be a big issue and moreover there are higher chances of losing it. I still prefer storing it online but it should be stored somewhere which is not prone to be hacked or lost like draft folder of your email and trustable cloud storage as not all the third party application lacks security.

That is the common thing that has been done by other newbies.
They tend to store their funds in an exchange wallet which is not advisable. Instead of storing it in a wallet or in a hardware wallet which is much safer, they choose to store it somewhere that is too risky. Investment should not be treated the same as how we hold our trading altcoins.

I have experience that I feel I have kept all the private key assets that I use in a safe place, but when I was traveling suddenly my assets in one of my wallets in myetherwallet lost, which I remembered that I only ever did log in at one of the exchange places that log in using a private key, my mistake is to directly use the wallet with the assets that I have without making another new wallet for the transaction.
I also do not use any separate wallet only for transactions. Do you think this is a safer way to store your money? I don’t understand how this can help you.

There are lots of techniques you should consider to protect your own tokens on threats that might happen. First, you should protect the private keys that is the most important thing for you to access the wallet you are using. Second is that you should be aware on the website you are using because there are lots of website that is created to hack personal accounts/wallet, so be aware of that. Third is that you should have an storage in which you are the only one who knows the important data of your wallet or account. We should protect all that is important to us for us to earn and be successful, so never share it to anyone even if it is your best friend or what.

so far I think the safest is in the hardware wallet, it's quite simple and only prepares about $ 50 to buy at an online store. that's my way that is quite easy in saying, just enough to prepare a little money to secure all the assets that I hold. to minimize unwanted events, I keep my hardware wallet in a safe.

I lost also my token when i go to ethereum market that idex i deposited my token there i thought its safe to put the token there for a long time.
But sad to say when i check my token theres a trasaction that they withdraw all my token i feel sad because its almost $300 if i sell it.
it is already was discussed a hundred thousand times at this forum that on exchanges it is worth storing only the money that you trade. the remaining money is best transferred to a cold wallet
It is likely we will have this discussion many more times, every day there are new people coming to this market and yet they do not know the minimum requirements to store their coins safely, while I can understand why they could keep their coins at an exchange for some time, after reading a bit more about how cryptocurrencies work they should immediately create their own wallet and transfer their coins there otherwise their coins will be at a constant risk.

Buying a wallet like nano and trezor is better done if most of our assets use the ERC-20 platform because the security has been very guaranteed for me during using it 2 years. previously only used myetherwallet and my wallet was hacked. frustrating me because all my assets were stolen by them

Phishing is a method that is often used by hackers to steal our coins on the wall. To avoid this, I think we should be wary of emails sent by others to our emails and not clicking on suspicious links. In addition, always storing and not sharing private keys with other parties is a way to secure our wallet from hackers

by investing in crypto we will definitely have experience and one of them is the problem of security of our assets I personally have also lost my tokens but with that we will be more vigilant and will not repeat the mistakes we make in investing learning from mistakes to get best experience going forward

phishing scams are the most famous way where newbies lost most of their coins and tokens, i do not expect anyone to fall victim for scammers asking people for private keys because its called private and not to be shared with anyone

I don't trust the person who sent the email and must fill out the form, and one of the conditions in that form is to enter privatekey. Always bookmark websites that i trust to avoid phishing and always be careful when you want to input your privatekey or seed

I agree with you. I also like that, do not share private keys to anyone, do not carelessly access with private keys, backup wallet and avoid phishing. sometimes wallets are hacked because they are not careful about phishing websites

If you are holding a significant amount of cryptocurrencies, the best option for you is storing it in a hardware wallet. It is currently the safest option for storing crypto. In case you just have 100$ in ETH, it is okay to keep it in Metamask.

Better doing this than regret once you fall into scam sites. Keeping your assets always needs to work with every statistic that can possibly
harmed your tokens. If you  feel any doubts with things that you need to process online best not to do anything. Keeping being safe instead
of risking the possibilities of getting harmed. Be selective and if you have enough money and you store high value tokens, having a hardware
wallet is very needed to lessen the risk.

security must be done when accessing the wallet and I believe that, you have provided references by bookmarking because sometimes mistakes when accessing the wallet are not checking the website. and the last way for security is to back up data when needed

Agree with what you have said about how to secure tokens.
besides what you said there must be a very priority so as not to be fooled so that the tokens turn to someone else.
- Don't open a link from an email without you knowing whether the email is safe and you know it.
- if possible what we often open for bookmarks so as not to open from google, because many addresses are almost the same to deceive.
- do not forget to use anti-virus that can be trusted and quality.

I do not know how many times I have read in the forum about a member being hacked and when he reveals the amount of money that he lost and how he was storing such a huge amount of money in an online wallet the first thing I think is why he did not bought a hardware wallet, hardware wallets are relatively inexpensive and once you got your money in one you know it is safe and there is now way for hackers to get to your funds no matter what they do.
