Bitcoin dominance this year is very high this year, I wonder what is the basis of your statement. Even if it is beyond the reach of ordinary people but it doesn't mean that we cannot afford it.

We can buy whatever amount we like, it's not like we need to buy 1 bitcoin or more. We can choose how much we like to stock or it can be your saving if you have spare money then you can put it in bitcoin and few years from now, you can see how much is your savings worth.

We can say that Bitcoin is popular at times when its price goes up as was the case in late 2017 when Bitcoin was certainly front-page news in all media. It is a well-known thing that media shapes public opinion, so there is some truth in the fact that Bitcoin is less popular right now, except for those who understand that this is the right time to invest.

I personally have no doubt that history will repeat itself, and that Bitcoin will become popular at some point again. I agree that in some countries it is not easy to buy Bitcoin, in some, it is even forbidden. But what about all those people who still live without the internet? They have 0 chance to buy Bitcoin, or to even be a part of the digital age.

For everyone else, the saying goes, if there is a will for something, one can find a way to make it happen.

Bitcoin is still popular, Its not losing its popularity, people and other investors tend to go for other type of investment since its price suddenly drop after its pump since the last month. Those people are just waiting for the right time to invest again and once its price increases again, its to be sure that bitcoin will be the content of social media and many people will talk about it again.

Bitcoin is still popular and would still be popular even if coins popped out here and there. There's also the fact that Bakkt has recently reached an all time high trading volume, having a 796% increase of trades done. There's also the upcoming Q4 of the year where people are expecting bitcoin to reach around 10-15k so yup. Bitcoin is still popular, no lies there.

I won't totally concede to the believe here that bitcoin was popular in 2017 and that was why it got to the height it did back then. This is 2019, two years after, so I don't think so after we have had more adopters especially people that bought at the lowest  price early this year.

What I think happened this year is a correction of the unexplainable sky rocket of price in 2017 and not that people left the bitcoin space. We are just at the reasonable price of bitcoin that is leading us to more, stable and gradual highs.

Now its value is beyond the reach of ordinary people.
People can buy fractions of a bitcoin; like you don't need to buy one whole bar of gold if you wanted to hedge with gold.

But, nowadays, it seems that Bitcoin is losing its popularity.Because, not receiving validity in low income countries. It may be the main reason.
Bitcoin is a lot less popular than it was in 2017 because the bubble has popped, and a lot of clueless investors already pulled away their money with a bad taste in their mouth. Hype cycles are a thing with bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, hence why it's less popular today. It doesn't matter though; all that matters is long-term adoption.

Have you done a research to come out with a statement like that, have you look at this chart first before creating this thread
https://coinmarketcap.com/charts/ this is an irresponsible thread, posting without looking at the right stat, not because Bitcoin is not reaching your expectation you will say that it's losing it's popularity.

I disagree that bitcoins popularity is starting to fade. Actually I do believe that bitcoin is starting to gain more popularity all across the globe. There are even rumors that UNICEF is accepting bitcoins as a form of donation. Beggars accepting bitcoins as donations , even artists are now accepting bitcoin. There are already countries that are accepting taxes in form of bitcoin and companies accepting bitcoins as well as landlords  who are accepting bitcoin as payment for rent. If bitcoin really lose its popularity then there are lesser people who are now into bitcoin but its the other way around and that is reality.

Probably you mean bitcoin is silent right now but it doesn't mean bitcoin losing its popularity. Investors and traders are just being inactive because they might be waiting for the right time to come before they make a move. However, I gotta say that compared to the last year 2017 bitcoin is not that popular now probably because people are only there because it is a trend. Actually, there are some businesses that is now accepting bitcoin as payment so it basically means that bitcoin is still popular because a business will not invest in something that is not popular or no potential.

I think you need to set your mindset here, You always think of BTC as 1 full BTC.

Did you know that you can just start to invest or buy it as small portion and just continue to accumulate it overtime? And this is the reason why you think it's expensive in the first place, why not start like .01 BTC in the beginning and then if you have some extra money in your pocket you can buy small amount again? until you reach your goal of owning 1 BTC in your lifetime, sounds good?

I have to disagree with that. 1 BTC is higher now, but in the future could be much higher than your imagination. People need to convince themselves that you don't need to own an entire Bitcoin.. That is the sole reason why Satoshi Nakamoto created the sub-decimals. Recently I have given the following example on another thread in this forum: it is a fact that there are over 36 million millionaires in the world. If each one of them would want to buy 1 Bitcoin and hold it what would be the price of 1 BTC? Obviously at least $1M. But what if some of them want more Bitcoin and not just one, and take into consideration that 4M BTCs are lost. That would put us at a 17 million supply in circulation. What if countries around the world decide to add Bitcoin to the national reserves?

Hopefully you can see the potential in my model.

I tend to agree, bitcoin become more popular because more countries are starting to adapt and accept bitcoin in most of the countries these days. They are starting to prepare for more crypto projects and some are starting to accept a certain popular exchange in some country. This will show us that its way is clearer than it is before. We can see that the track where bitcoin is moving now is expanded where it can reach more people than before.

Compared to the time maybe late 2017 and early 2018 when the price of bitcoin reached at its highest, we can say indeed that it is not as popular and there is a decline of activities BUT this is not something negative for Bitcoin. In 2017, speculations abound for Bitcoin and although there is nothing wrong per se with that the thing is so much of something can make anything unbalanced and it was the same with Bitcoin. With lesser speculations, the better it can be for Bitcoin. Now, just because 1 Bitcoin seems to be now affordable it does not mean that anybody can not own Bitcoin since nobody will be refused to buy a portion of Bitcoin for some dollars.

The full potential of Bitcoin remains to be in the future and 10 years of Bitcoin is a short period of time to see the things it can do and contribute in the history of mankind. Now, you seem to be a little discouraged with Bitcoin and can be because you read some negative comments and analysis not favorable to this cryptocurrency but I am telling you don't listen too much to them as these don't know what they are talking about.

You better go with people who are enthusiastic on Bitcoin because this is the way to the future and you surely do not want to be left behind eating nothing but dust after our car has left, right?

If you see bitcoin losing its popularity nowadays then I think you are only looking on a single tree and not on a whole forest.

I suggest spending time researching the progress of bitcoin adoption status in general.

Now its value is beyond the reach of ordinary people.

That's the beauty of BTC. You really don't have to literally buy a whole fraction of it. Don't believe in others that you need to buy the whole of it from the start to feel the profit. Yes, it makes sense but no need to push for that if anyone can't really afford it. Slowly, it can be achieved soon.

As days pass the bitcoin is gaining more popularity. Confirmation of the same is the increasing acceptance of bitcoin around the globe. Just because of its increased price we can't say bitcoin has lost its popularity. Any level of people can prefer buying as it has the denomination with which we can buy upon necessity. There is no compulsion that you need to buy a complete bitcoin.

If your comparing price to bitcoin's popularity, you are just incorrect and the only reason why the price might be going down is due to people not wanting to buy Bitcoins, which doesn't relate to popularity.

On the other hand, Bitcoin dominance is at an all time high due to the pretty big companies that are now investing into the currency, and it's more popular then ever before.

no he isnt comparing the price but he is only explain that bitcoin started low and end up high  . price is down not because people dont want to buy btc anymore but because some people are disposing some of thier bitcoins   . in conclusion  , bitcoin itself does not loose its popularity because we can still see that btc is still on the headline's   . btc's value is still high  ,  btc coin market cap is still high and btc is still the main crypto that is being accepted anywhere .

We may not notice is but Bitcoin is still popular until now. It might not be on the mainstream and not making a loud noise, it's actually reaching almost every part of the world. If the price is low, it doesn't mean that people are losing their interest towards it. Bitcoin doesn't have to be loud all the time as long as it's strikes higher each day.

I think Bitcoin will not lose popularity.
This time people is still playing in altcoin. So Bitcoin is moved aside for investment.

We know bitcoin price is get bearish, the price is low but only small people want buy it.
That is because some people wait the price get dip and have correction.

Popularity wanes over time when not a single exciting thing is happening within the ecosystem. Usually, bitcoin’s popularity soars whenever there’s substantial increase in pricing. At this point all eyes and ears, including the common folk and mainstream media would be pointed towards bitcoin. I understand your sentiment regarding bitcoin’s popularity hitting a plateau, but if you know the cyclical movement of bitcoin (which is still somewhat theoretical), you know that it’ll rise when the price starts rising.

How did you come up with this conclusion? No, Bitcoin isn't getting irrelevant. In fact, more and more people are gaining knowledge of cryptocurrencies by continuous adoption of different institutions and companies. The peak on 2017 was because of the hype, but even if the price and market is low nowadays, it does still strive and isn't going anywhere from what I can tell. In my experience, different apps related to commerce, online shopping, etc have already adopted BTC and it's gradually raising in number.

Bitcoin is always within the reach of everyone. I've just claimed 100 free Sats a minute ago from a gambling faucet.  ;D

I cannot understand why people are complaining of the rising price of Bitcoin when most of them do not even have the guts to buy a nice amount when the price is falling hard. And when the price is high, they are saying that it is too expensive for an ordinary person. Are you guys disciples of Peter Schiff, throwing mud at Bitcoin from all directions after not being able to buy it at a very cheap price?

And what exactly do you mean by "validity in low income countries"? Well, for what it means, Bitcoin does not need validity from any country.

Let's look at the charts of the popularity of bitcoin. The peak of popularity came in 2017 - the beginning of 2018, during the pump.
Most of the new arrivals came to earn money, realizing that it was not possible to earn money already in the first half of 2018, popularity began to fall because these people began to leave the market empty-handed.
But compared to the time before the 2017 pump, the current popularity of Bitcoin is higher, which means it has grown on the contrary.

You mean the developing countries? Well, some of them are already adopting cryptocurrency and some of them are on that way so for me the popularity of bitcoin is still the same and way beyond the previous volume. Bitcoin will never lose popularity because cryptocurrency is good for all of us and that is because of bitcoin.

First of all I don't think Bitcoin is losing popularity. It's just not that much of an ecstasy which it was a couple of years ago. People don't Eureka when they have one bitcoin. They don't brag about it instead just store it in their wallets and live lives peacefully. Most of the times you would see people with no crypto loudly shouting that bull run is here and all those stuff

Secondly, Bitcoin was intended to be a worldwide currency. Not just for the first world currency. Infact we don't even know from which country does the Inventor of Bitcoin belongs so It would be harsh to say that due to the inclusion of low income countries we have started receiving less interest in Bitcoin. Moreover who knows the found is from any third world country?

1 bitcoin is maybe beyond reach but you can buy it in decimals. When it was at $3,000 you probably said that and will said it again when it reaches $20,000 again soon.

Bitcoin is not losing its popularity. Instead it is becoming more popular. Bakkt was launched, Binance entered in the US and many more coming soon as halving is nearing to happen.

Low income countries don't represent the big volume of bitcoin users, investors and traders.

Maybe you just lack updates my friend.  ;D

I beg to disagree!  Bitcoin is more popular now than ever if we correlate it to the number of wallet users as per data from the graph below which shows that wallet users have increased by more than four folds in just a span of 3 years alone and this clearly shows that Bitcoin is indeed getting more popular as compared to previous years!

I do not agree with your statement on bitcoin losing popularity because it is still known by large number of people and many more new investors are gathering their interest in it.Although the huge investments have been not made this year but after the correction many investors will invest in it and price will surge once again. So don't spread any type of negativity around you. Btc will always remain the king of crypto in market.

My judgment may be because some people feel that for two years the price of bitcoin is unsatisfactory and they have waited too long for the price of bitcoin to rise so they sell it is their decision even though it is only a small profit or can only be a loss, they just feel worried because the movement is very slow and there is also for those who feel hesitant to buy bitcoin and but that does not mean it can reduce the popularity of bitcoin.
bitcoin remains the most popular coin in cryptocurrency and only takes time to prove or provide a satisfactory price value like 2017 or maybe more.

Bitcoin is not losing its popularity. Almost everyday there are news about adoption of bitcoin and cryotocurrency by different entities. Everyday new people are discovering the world of bitcoin, mostly becayse of their friends.
Just because the value is increasing, that doesn't necessarily mean that low income countries can't afford it. My country is part of a third world country yet crypto is being widely accepted here. And there are a lot of users engaging themselves with bitcoin.
As of now, there are more people getting into bitcoin than people leaving bitcoin.

I don’t believe so, IMO bitcoin is not losing popularity but it is the opposite. Yes, it is true that we are experiencing a continues drop in price and it seems that the price is consistent in the range from $8-$9k for days which may discourage investors but despite the drop in bitcoins popularity is still increasing. A lot of people nowadays know bitcoin or has interest in bitcoin, not only that quite a few companies or stores are also accepting bitcoin as a payment and I guess some other companies are now studying bitcoin and probably they will also accept bitcoin as another mode of payment.

The market valuation depends upon demand and supply and nothing else, when the market started there was not much demand and that was reflected in the price and with the limited number of coins it is bound to go higher when there are new investors in the market. Who is asking you to buy the entire bitcoin, it is divisible and you can even purchase coins as low as a few dollars and the transaction charges are really low.

Here is a proof (https://www.blockchain.com/btc/tx/904e374edcecc6f1e0d533eea3694891372124cdd9fd6d3adacacab9f2e93343) that i sent transaction with a fee of 0.00000247BTC as fees and got included in a block in 19 minutes. Any new excuses now  :P.

What came you to a conclusion that Bitcoin is not receiving validity in low income countries?  Bitcoin had been more popular then ever, with the government regulation and stuff,  Before it seems government are just ignoring Bitcoin but right now, its been a focus of discussion, the implementation, regulation or even banning and prohibition of the use of Bitcoin.  You see, Bitcoin had never been popular like this.  And it always possible to buy a portion of Bitcoin if one can't afford a whole one so your statement about Bitcoin value beyond the reach of ordinary one is moot.

No, it's not that Bitcoin is lossing popularity. If you're literally basing your statement to the current market condition or the price of btc today, you're wrong.
Maybe people who knew about Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency lost their patience and trust towards the technology, because the price usually going sideways.

How can people suddenly forget about Bitcoin when they rode the hype during the unprecedented rise of Bitcoin in 2017. Infact, the Bitcoin adoption is even continuing to expand.

So what you are trying to tell with his statement of bitcoin loosing its popularity, the market is volatile and it is not a new phenomenon, the market was like this from the start and hence it is not a big surprise for anyone who is trading in the market for a long time. If you look at the price of bitcoin even now it is around $8000 and you think that the popularity is loosing  ::).

I don't think so brcause bitcoin is very popular worldwide and it used as primary payment using the cryptocurrency.  And the demand ks very exclusive even new investors are wanting to buy bitcoin and make an investment.

And some people are investing to bitcoin because they know that the value will rise up every year and good for long term holding and most likely to increase the profit.

Not sure where OP get his idea since it's the opposite that we are seeing right now. Bitcoin still popular and being used as store assets maybe there are some who uses bitcoin for transacting online dealing with buying or paying but the most part of holders are using it as investment assets. For some who understand trading they manage to use it for pairing to alternative coins and make a decent profits. There's no issue with popularities it will continue to prosper in the long run the value will rise with more adoptions being held.

The weak hands are already out from bitcoin because they didn't get rich quick which demonstrates that they had no idea how bitcoin works and what drives the price up and down. Personally , I'm glad that only the true supporters of bitcoin are still in the game as there is less FUD on Bitcoin.

Just because the price is down ( still double the price since 3k on 2019$ ) doesn't mean that it lost its popularity because we see a lot of ATM's being deployed into world, foundations like UNICEF accepting Bitcoin And Ethereum deposits, mass-media slowly points its attention again into Bitcoin and so on ...just think positive and I'm sure you will see the truth about Bitcoin's power.

Bitcoin coins are increasing in popularity everyday. A lot of people are now interested in bitcoin and I don’t understand why you came up with the idea that bitcoin is decreasing in popularity. Anyways, with big companies trying to create their own coin and also promoting there coins, it made people came across bitcoin and it’s a great avenue for new investors to know bitcoin.

I appreciate your reply here. Yeah, obviously bitcoin popularity increasing everyday.

Bitcoin dominance is still up there when it comes to the CMC rankings but I think many who tried to cash in on the big boom at the end of 2017 have long gone. So only traders or those who are lucky enough to invest in very good projects that suddenly decide to moon, make it big in BTC NOW and the Miners and big Bagholders who leverage trade in the Bitcoin Futures market. For many of us smaller people, it is kind of too late to get on the Bandwagon where Bitcoin is concerned, unless, as I said, we make it big on a small-cap coin project and manage to convert it to Bitcoin.

I think you are wrong bitcoin doesn't lose it's popularity, even it's price started to decrease from $20,000 in the year of 2017 because bitcoin still is increasing it's popularity everyday that more people knows about bitcoin that there are some who gets interested to buy bitcoin and there are still some who don't. So there are possibilities that bitcoin would reach it's price again up to $20,000 just like in the year of 2017.

We might think that the value of bitcoin is getting low right now but do not worru about it.This is normally happening to those in market. Eventhough it loses popularity in many people, there are still using bitcoin and believing what it can do to people. Its not becoming "beyond" the reach of the ordinary people. You don't have to buy one whole coin to own bitcoin. You can always buy a fraction of the coins. 0.1 BTC, 0.01 BTC or even 0.00001 BTC. There is no difference. They all have a value. Your 0.0001 BTC can one day worth thousands of dollars. There is no such thing as you "can't" afford bitcoin.
If you still want to own one whole coin, there is always altcoins you can invest on.
If bitcoin is losing its popularity, why is it still on the top?

In recent years, the value of bitcoin increased by many times. People are now aware of it and started using it. But they have some unknown security fear which I think they don't need to have.
Bitcoin is too secure. It can be used by everybody having internet access. In incoming times,it becomes more popular. Its popularity can be increased if the government comes forward and accept bitcoin as legal currency.

I think u r right, but the reasons may differ. I think the crypto market is giving a lot more projects and uses for new coins, while btc is not so great now.

There are dapps, crypto games, and a lot of new things in the making, but btc is staying the same.

So, crypto-interested-people are less interested in btc as long as they are not only interested in trading.

it is not true , bitcoin is only gaining popularity as is shown , for example by the ever growing number of the addresses with coins , google search queries and many other things
if you can't buy a whole coin , because it is worth too much now , nothing prevents you from buying a share of it
you can spend whatever amount of money you wish , be it 100$ or 10.000$
low income countries are the most usual visitors at bitcoin faucets and the sites that provide income in bitcoins or any other crypto
on the contrary , high price and constant growth allows people from such countries collect coins and wait for the price to rise or sell them straight away and make their living
I know quite a few guys who are literally living on claiming freebies , faucets and airdrops
they say it is way above the income they would get were they working on a regular job where they live

I don't think it's because of the validity that makes bitcoin unpopular in some low-income countries. I am of the opinion that bitcoin is less popular in some low-income countries because the country's government cannot yet implement blockchain technology (which is used by bitcoin) in the country's economic system. because if you look at the facts, in recent years, the use of bitcoin in some countries has increased rapidly. even in 2019 there are a lot of news about the mass adoption of bitcoin by several large and well-known companies in the world. so I guess if you see the popularity of bitcoin declining just because the price of bitcoin goes down, I think that judgment is very inaccurate

This isn't true and just speculation. You are talking mostly about India and Chine I assume. Their ridiculous laws have nothing to do with the popularity of bitcoin and they are certainly not the only countries in the world.
I am not sure what you are on about.

As long as bitcoin dominates the whole crypto market, then it will not lost its popularity. And being the most profitable coin at this moment, its popularity will still grow even more. But for those who lived in countries without internet connection, it will be expected already that bitcoin is not popular to them since they cannot transact bitcoin without internet connection.

Yes as I was thinking there is nothing to credit what the OP says. Just pure speculation and basically making things up. I do not see the reasoning.

I think your vision is clouded, you seem like your the kind of person who because BTC hasn’t grown in the way you thought it would, that it can’t. Maybe you would say adoption might come earlier from such low-income countries, but i think The future of Bitcoin depend on countries like US & member state of the European Union and maybe China. It doesn't depends on countries like Afghanistan, Greece, Iran, Turkey, Venezuela, and most African countries.

Bitcoin is the best decentralized platform of trust in Cryptocurrency. the usability layers and network effects that develop which add to its core capabilities are amplifiers, while those that seek to offset Bitcoin's advantages will fade into irrelevance. i see no reason to doubt Bitcoin's objective and success even if it does not 'defeat' fiat in low-income countries.

The popularity of Bitcoin does not reflect on the prices alone. If there is a dump, there are more people selling. Or not even that, it may be that there are more Bitcoins sold than what was bought. A single person may be dumping 10 BTC while 9 other people are buying 1 BTC each. In this case, 9 are definitely higher than 1 but the 1 has dumped more than the total Bitcoins bought by the 9. That is it. That does not mean that there are more people leaving Bitcoin rather than people coming in and supporting Bitcoin.

This was I also noticed too, when bitcoin pumps up there are too many people adopting on it and start to invest as much as the can.
If they have an idea while the market hardly drops the price they will invest so that they can make a profit in the long run. But they wanted a short term investment and too late to jump in and accumulate numbers of bitcoin while it is in pumping up. They were losing interest when the price had a downtrend.

Th price always matter after those series of dumps occurred in bitcoin marketplace, we can't control those situations that may arise. Because of its popular image since it begun to have legit adoption in several countries around the world, most businesses were now starting to implement digital currency payment system that uses blockchain technology. It has made the transaction more efficient and fast without any sort of delays, in order that it could provide their customer satisfaction guaranteed.

Maybe it is not what to called losing of popularity but people lie low in using bitcoin because of low price. Bitcoin is not losing popularity but recognizes the uses and benefits from it as a currency.

Once Bitcoin started to skyrocketed to the moon you may change your perspective. Classic treatment of people never change, people will only approach you if they need something or if you are giving them benefits, but if not, then you'll be treated like you don't exist anymore, and that's what's happening in bitcoin right now. People always misunderstand the part of bitcoin when it's in bearish market, the do panic selling and think of it as an advantage of not lossing their profits but it's the opposite.

They lose their profits because their interest on bitcoin is not enough to stick with it in the long run, the only thing they know is if falls down, it will just keep on falling.

Bitcoin popularity has really not changed and we are feeling this way because we are actually using 2017 to judge it which we need to understand that bitcoin in 2017, in 2017, the market maker came into the market and they were the ones that made the market look so high by causing fomo buy and it was this fomo buy that attracted the interest of people, but because it was artificially created, it could not really stand that much, and anything that is fake will definitely loose it at the end.

It is really this way that bitcoin is meant to grow, slow and steady increase. Most dump that I have seen this year has really not been as much as it was in 2017, and after the little short dump, the market grows back to where it ought to grow to, so the popularity is really still dear mate and we will get more as time goes on.

They lose their profits because their interest on bitcoin is not enough to stick with it in the long run, the only thing they know is if falls down, it will just keep on falling.
I don't think it's all that bad honestly speaking. I remember a lot of people who were making fun of the panic sellers around $17k, then $15k, then $10k and so on---would they have held they would be slaughtered all the way to $3k.

Those who told people to hodl and actually did so suffered a lot last year. People can say they don't care about a 85% drop, but that's nonsense.... if you could have avoided sitting out an 85% drop you would do it in an instant.

In a nutshell: panic sellers were the winners of 2018 while hodlers were the losers.

You are wrong, by looking at the short term price, you cannot tell the real progress of BTC.
Instead, look more on its fundamentals and its long term price trends so you will see the reality.

The fact that BTC was dead many times and its value now at over $8K, this tells people are still investing on it.

Actually if you do some research there's a lot of factors you can see that would tell you how strong bitcoin is, the trading volume alone would tell something positive to us that people are still trusting on it.

one big news is that BAKKT bitcoin futures was launch, and that's a big company adopting into BTC.
And some good news relating to it, https://www.ccn.com/bakkt-bitcoin-futures-volume-soars-800-percent/

Losing popularity? I don't think bitcoin is losing poularity but in fact it is actually expanding many governments are regulating and accepting bitcoin as form of payment, many blockchain start ups are had been opened and currently expanding and some huge companies are now accepting bitcoin so, there's no reason why bitcoin is losing poularity.

What exactly are the reasons why you think that Bitcoin is losing its popularity. You need to provide us with facts to support this your claims. You can't just make claims without having any thing to back your assumptions.

This is a exactly my point.  People just create post on this forum without having any tangiable reasons or evidences to confirm the things they share here. Bitcoin for the past two has seen a rapid growth in its market economy which shows that it is constantly growing.  Bitcoin is all over the internet and news platforms..
It hurts that we are to face all these topics again and again. Some people always ask in negative ways like Bitcoin scamming, dying, losing popularity and so on. But they never spend time researching before posting topics.
Where Bitcoin is getting attention over the world, even USA  president talked about Bitcoin, world-famous giant companies like Facebook, Samsung, Telegram endorsing the crypto industry, there are still some people for asking these questions!

Bitcoin has over the years gotten popular. It keeps getting popular with every year, for instance Bitcoin popularity in 2012 and 2017 is not the same, this goes for 2019 too. I don't know what makes you think it's losing its popularity. More and more people are even getting into Bitcoin in most of these 3rd world countries, seeing it as alternative means of income.

The popularity of Bitcoin is not measured by low-income countries' acceptance but rather measured by huge influx of new adopters join the bitcoin community, mostly come from first-world countries that hold the biggest volume of bitcoin trading market. Those countries have the biggest role to make market movements or in other words; manipulate the market to pump or dump it.

Popularity is a different thing. It generally rises when Bitcoin price is high and it falls when Bitcoin price is low. Besides, I think Bitcoin has increased its popularity compared to the last year. Because 2018 was a terrible year for Bitcoin and it is in a way better condition in this year.

where are you getting that idea? here are a few metrics that disagree.

a study published last december showed the number of crypto users roughly doubled in the first 3 quarters of 2018: https://cointelegraph.com/news/number-of-crypto-users-nearly-doubled-in-2018-study-says

the number of blockchain wallet users has consistently risen every quarter for the last few years: https://www.statista.com/statistics/647374/worldwide-blockchain-wallet-users/

there is also data showing increasing adoption in the developing world: https://www.newsbtc.com/2019/10/02/bitcoin-use-growing/

Will you justify your statement? In my point of view, it's not base only on a lower price even though the price has it's volatility we cannot determine the popularity is decreasing. Bitcoin continues growing even price decline some accumulating to buy more. Nonetheless, bitcoin is more valuable than any other crypto and adoption is growing.

I support with you this.
With the fact that volatility remains and even getting stronger, it doesn't mean that it lost its popularity nor to see people never get interested in it.
Bitcoin will surely be popular and even more popular as we are in the massive adoption. However, its price really matters in terms of popularity, if we remember last 2017 when crypto surge high, everyone's is mostly talking about crypto investment and I believe almost everyone heard about this but it slows down slightly when bullish gets over.

There is a reason behind this and that is the lack of investora. Some of the investors maybe pulling out their investment in bitcoin because of the price are still going down. It will become popular again once they feature it on news.

And that is why we need to buy more while it is notmpopulsr becase the price could increase once it become in demand again.

maybe right now yes.. we can feel that the popularity of Bitcoin is diminishing, based on a search on Google we can find that people who want to know what Bitcoin is and cryptocurrency is reduced for this year if compared to the end of 2017 ago (https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=2017-10-01%202019-10-14&q=bitcoin)..  most likely in the year 2021, the popularity of Bitcoin will again rise sharply, 2021 is a year where many experts predict Bitcoin will be Bullish.

It's not losing popularity it's just become common to all of us here when we keep seeing things on a daily basis it's become common, one example is Mcdonald, it used to be so popular and talk of the town until every corner has an outlet, it stopped being the talk of the town because people have become used to seeing it, we are just moving in a natural way.

As you can see bitcoin become more valuable especially in the year 2017 where the highest peak bitcoin is around 20000$. I think you are wrong as of today bitcoin becomes more popular and as you can see many industries are now accepting in their payment. Lastly, I know there are some countries that started to accept and legalize bitcoin so basically it will never lose its popularity.

Bitcoin is still popular and lots of services and alternate payment method using it. There is no way that it will lose the popularity since it is still trending as the best investment and first cryptocurrency that is decentralized.

Maybe some psrt of the other country has no use of bitcoin since they maybe ban and the popularity may decreased in that country.

I doubt that's the case, nor do I actually believe bitcoin is losing popularity.  It's easy to think that when the price has gone down a little, but compare it's price now to what it was even in 2015.  It's at least 20 times higher.

Now, as regards those 'low income countries' you mentioned I would say bitcoin is just as popular in them as it is in wealthier countries.  Take a look at how many people from countries in Africa and Asia and S. America who are taking part in campaigns and bounties.  Look at how popular bitcoin is in the Philippines.  All of those countries strongly contribute to bitcoin's continued existence.  I would posit that they especially are necessary for bitcoin to survive, not the rich countries.

Bitcoin has not lost its popularity, maybe for some people who are still unfamiliar or do not understand anything with this technology they do not realize if investing in bitcoin when cheap can provide benefits in the future if the investment they make is a long-term investment
they will realize after the price of bitcoin surges like 2017 and of course many are disappointed because they did not take advantage of the opportunity to buy bitcoin when prices are still low

projects that have sprung up, this is proof that bitcoin are not losing popularity. But since the price is still far from the time of 2017,
it makes the foundation people say that bitcoin is losing popularity. But in reality it's not like that, there are still many investors who believe
in bitcoin. You can see several large volume exchanges bitcoin is still quite high.

Anyone can buy at least some units of Bitcoin, because one coin consists of 100 million satoshi. As for the popularity of Bitcoin, its level mainly rises during bullish rallies. The main reason for this is that most people, one way or another interested in blockchain technology, want to make money on it. They are not interested in what opportunities Bitcoin provides, its technical characteristics. These aspects of Bitcoin are interesting only to developers and a small group of enthusiasts.

It is beneficial for a new trader as well who is facing problems in the stock market. This technique depends upon commodity prices or currency pairs and their increase/decrease. Of course every opinion is valuable and has the right to exist. But you shouldn't think in such a pessimistic way. May be comparing with the 2017 year the interest to Bitcoin and cryptocurrency became lower, but it is not losing its popularity at all. It depends on the region may be or exact country. But in case you look on this question more globally you will find out that it is still popular, even very popular. And the interest sometimes falling a little down, but after is rising again. There is some opportunities or services in the Internet with the help of wich you can check the level of the interest or google searching for the concrete topic, for example Bitcoin. There you even can see the popularity in different countries all over the world, the rating of the topic Bitcoin in different regions of the concrete countries. Of course these data may be not very precise, but you are able to make some approximate conclusions. And interesting fact that the most demanded topics are Bitcoin and Bitcoin price.

I hope they find good insight into bitcoin and become more popular when another country introduces Bitcoin as a great help to our economic growth. Probably there is a conclusion. Maybe it's due to its value since the value of bitcoin now is so low the reason why there are only a few people who are attracted to invest on it and I think in order to regain it's popularity much better to double or triple it's price to attract more people to invest in order for them to be able to earn big profit.

I believed when the next halving comes it will gain again much more popularity and people will adopt again and hoping they will gain profit but the fact they are too late, they cant jump in when the price is high.

It's not losing popularities but the opposite instead, more countries are starting to be curios about this currency they are trying to gain control
by placing rules to have jurisdictions, to those who are not yet being open to this system they are tagging bitcoin as something as illegal. But
to those who already have good outlook to this system, innovations is more welcome and adding this new currency is their to work out.

Bitcoin is an online currency.  Even if started with a lower price.  Now its value is beyond the reach of ordinary people. But, nowadays, it seems that Bitcoin is losing its popularity.Because, not receiving validity in low income countries. It may be the main reason.

In this regards, if certain countries are not providing their support for the bitcoin, still, bitcoin is at a massive development in its adoption to most of the countries. That's why I am not agreeing about bitcoin losing popularity. Sooner or later, if the government acknowledge bitcoin for low income countries, that chances are favorable that it will further become popular and adopted widely, right now they just need time to consider things that crypto can affect them.

For me, bitcoin is not losing its popularity may be in a different country. But in my state, bitcoin is becoming well-known because a huge company announced that they would be accepting bitcoin as a payment and vice versa. Also, before that, some schools advertise that they will be accepting bitcoin as payment for tuition fees. Some ppl leave bitcoin because they can't profit well because of the price rate, but I'm sure if bitcoin is almost legal to your country I'm sure that even bitcoin's price rate decrease you will continue using it. :)

Maybe you right with bitcoin losing popularity with very lower price today, for October bitcoin never back to raise higher price and still down with $8 where last month bitcoin above $10k, will become bad thing for bitcoin losing popularity and give bad for altcoin price? lets give best for bitcoin can raise to higher price again and we need to get much profit with bitcoin investment for long time because only bitcoin become profitable investment.

It isn't that it is losing popularity. It is that when it goes up in price then people talk about it because it is doing well. When it isn't then people don't talk about it. Only true belivers stay around during the drops. They know it is only temporary and won't last long, they look ahead in years time not like most other people who only focus on the present.

People in low-income countries can't use the currency due to the artificial fee market created by Blockstream. But not worries.

There are many alternatives coming along which will solve this problem like Bitcoin Cash which is fully aligned with the original vision.

First of all the decrease of price of bitcoin doesn't really corresponds that bitcoin isn't popular, its just that there were only few transactions or trading of bitcoins are taking place. We all know that cryptos was extremely volatile that is why we should not be amazed if its price drops in a single time for its normal. What we can do is to support bitcoin as it takes the journey in the crypto world.

I don't believe that OP did the right statement, Bitcoin never been losing its popularity but instead, it gaining more. Only the price steps down but it actually never been dump too dip. Sorry, I don't think so. The decline in Bitcoin prices cannot be attributed to its popularity. We know that most of the reasons for current declines are caused by whales or big traders. They are likely to manipulate prices on the market. The issues of rejection from various countries have already appeared from the beginning, it was already happening for many years. So, I don't think it contributes big impact on Bitcoin's popularity.

Bitcoin still dominance and not lost popularity until today, look at market how many percent dominance bitcoin than altcoin, last day I checked about 66% dominance bitcoin than altcoin and look bitcoin still not lost popularity, better if you keep invest with bitcoin and stop heard bad news talking about bitcoin have lost popularity and make price will be down, keep focus on your bitcoin as investment assets.

When bitcoin lower price absolutely lost popularity of bitcoin, depend with bitcoin price to get popular of bitcoin. Last first bitcoin launching to public no one know and interested with bitcoin, after bitcoin price pump to higher price not only person but also company want to adopt bitcoin as investment and digital payment. The popularity of bitcoin can not only be determined by the validity of a country. We all also know that bitcoin is a fairly controversial innovation, has certain plus and minus that is used as a consideration to be accepted or not by a country. Although not yet accepted globally, bitcoin is quite openly accepted by the world although not completely, due to certain binding rules, which are adapted to each country to protect its economic sovereignty.
On the contrary, I would argue that the popularity of bitcoin or we call it cryptocurrency is increasing. Moreover, one giant social media with such a large and influential community plans to make its own cryptocurrency. This indirectly introduces cryptocurrency to a larger community, inevitably they will also learn it until eventually, it will definitely relate to bitcoin. Is not it?

that bitcoin is still the star in the world of cryptocurrency. One of them is almost in all exchanges shows that bitcoin
is still dominant compared to other coins. It shows that bitcoin is still popular and is still becoming the best. Because

This coin's dominance keeps sailing high each year and now it also had gained a great wider acceptance all across the globe with many of the huge companies accepting it. So, I don't find any reason for bitcoin to lose its charm...

Apparently, Facebook will have huge problems with Libra, not only on the path to implementing its project, but also with real partners who already at this stage refuse to cooperate.  But with regard to Bitcoin, not everything is as unambiguous as it seems in fact, because there are difficulties and real potential, but these difficulties must and can be overcome.  If, for example, you get rid of poor scalability, then a large business in any case should be interested in large-scale Bitcoin transactions.

Government are egoist, they are eradicating all of the things that gets on their way that they can't handle. Fiat is their slave, and so we are (if we use fiat), it is true that they banned bitcoin because they can't control it, however with fiat, they could do all things they want from it, they can burn it or remove its price whenever they want to, they are also the one who gives value to fiat because they have the power to do so.

Bitcoin is beyond their limit, banning it won't' stop bitcoin, and that is what annoys them.

You can check it here https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=today%201-m&gprop=news&q=bitcoin you can hover on per region and you'll see that Bitcoin still holds the number 1 search term in that region in Canada, China Russia, and other countries.

I don't think the decrease on btc's price is the reason why OP make such statement, I think the countries which ban bitcoin or any form of crypto. Okay! Let's assume that a certain country refuse to adopt btc, for me it remains popular because they knew about it in the first place — they are aware of such thing. Am I right? :D Less adoption doesn't necessarily mean less popularity.

Well firstly, I don't think you should look at the popularity of something off Google Trends. It isn't a good indicator of how many people use it, what transactions are there, etc, it's just how many people Google something which might not be the best data.

I'd actually argue the different thing - Bitcoin adoption in those smaller countries, like South Africa and other African countries have been extremely important and they are probably one of the main countries/continents that utilise Bitcoin and other crypto-currencies.

Many things cause the price of bitcoin to fluctuate. For example, market demand, news and more. I am of the opinion that the current high price of bitcoin is the influence of bitcoin popularity. From 2009 to 2019 now, the level of popularity of bitcoin continues to increase and it can be seen from many countries that have adopted this as a payment system in various outlets. The fall in the price of bitcoin does not prove that its popularity has fallen.
In trading, news will affect prices very quickly. Is it because of the fall in prices can be expressed as a decrease in popularity ? I don't think so, but if the number of bitcoin holders drops dramatically in large numbers, then I think that is an indication that the popularity of bitcoin has fallen.

We are the only one who supports it and also the investors who are the big factor why some projects are becoming successful.

they only postpone adopting regulations that are still being developed internally, developed countries even take an open stance. imagine if bitcoin was passed at this time would be in conflict with fiat and create confusion for many new people. Single transaction system via blockchain is also not ready to be accepted globally, this will damage the banking system such as clearing etc. the right title in my opinion "delaying popularity"

What is the validity you mean here because most of the low and third world countries trying to adopt blockchain technology as well as cryptocurrency for their government.
Reason is it will give better exposure for them in the international business market.
Fact is cryptocurrencies are getting popular in all the places including third world countries.
Everyone is welcome here, everyone has a chance to adopt the system in fact, Bitcoin's popularity keeps growing especially in the 3rd world country. Badly it was, they only know the name but not really engaging in it because they don't have the capacity to invest with cause of their financial capabilities and as well as their economic system.

Bitcoin is an online currency.  Even if started with a lower price.  Now its value is beyond the reach of ordinary people. But, nowadays, it seems that Bitcoin is losing its popularity.Because, not receiving validity in low income countries. It may be the main reason.

In my opinion, Bitcoin is not losing its popularity now. On the contrary, I think that Bitcoin adoption is getting to a better level in progress of time. We can't say it is losing popularity just because the search numbers of Bitcoin on Google is changing.
The popularity of bitcoin is already spread out around the world and not just bitcoin but many cryptocurrency already made on the headlines of many country. I don’t support the word not popular anymore because bitcoin is still new and the adoption on every country is just about to start so stay calm because we are still young.

Although Bitcoin is losing popularity as you said, Bitcoin will continue to spread his wings throughout the world step by step. I don't think that now Bitcoin has lost his popularity, many whales still want to buy Bitcoin.
I don't believe that OP did the right statement, Bitcoin never been losing its popularity but instead, it gaining more. Only the price steps down but it actually never been dump too dip. The name Bitcoin still soaring high, in fact, many establishments accept Bitcoin which I believe this could be a start for huge crypto adoption and helping to promote Bitcoin as another mode of payment.
Bitcoin losing popularity is impossible because bitcoin still have many investor, if losing popularity maybe many investor will left bitcoin and join with other digital currencies investment, bitcoin still the top digital currency have potential on higher price, maybe wait the time when bitcoin back to higher price. Many people keep trust with bitcoin and save money with bitcoin as investment assets.

I don't know where they are getting this information, Bitcoin's use is actually increasing rapidly, the price is not indication that people are losing interest, actually we are becoming more popular as the number of users increasing and that some government would like to regulate it and they are studying how to impose tax on it.

I think that popularity is lost among those who bought Bitcoin for 15-20000 dollars. But we really see how many new people come to the cryptocurrency market. The overall popularity of Bitcoin is definitely growing!

I think bitcoin is still the most valuable coin in the cryptocurrency market and hasn't lost its popularity. Current price declines are common because price fluctuations are normal in any market. If we look at history that bitcoin prices start at 0 and reach the highest price at $ 20k, I think bitcoin is still a valuable asset

Maybe I still believe that bitcoin is very popular and many believe and want to invest their money to invest there.
the popularity of bitcoin is quite sure it has nothing to do with the state of a low or high income country.
because bitcoin is still trustworthy and even still a very promising investment.

What do you mean by "low-income countries"? If third-world countries is what you are talking about, I don't think it is a reason why bitcoin is losing popularity. Here in the Philippines, some universities already offer a course about blockchain technology. Some business also starts to adopt bitcoin as one of the payment. I don't even believe that bitcoin is losing popularity now because it has a big potential in our future technology.

You can only say that bitcoins was on a decrease in popularity if there is a drastic change in bitcoin users worldwide and you should be backed up with statistics. If you are observing the current condition of bitcoin were as of now maybe you can tell if it is declining in popularity. Moreover, not all "low income country" you are saying were against implementing bitcoins if you search for countries accepting it.

I don't think so the popularity of the bitcoin losing this year, because now bitcoin is still famous for every country even not all people know about the bitcoin but they still a lot of citizens of every country know about the bitcoin. It will become more popular if thw price become higher this year so we can help to the bitcoin by spreading it to our relatives who are willing to invest and  the effect of that is it will rise plus more famous.

I am not so sure: my close friend is an unregistered bitcoin (BTConly) ATM operator serving poor neighborhood and they are seeing increased pressure villagers empty out ATMs. To keep it in perspective those ATM had advanced counterfeit detection bill mechanism that handles up to 500 bills and it is guaranteed to be filled every day which were confirmed by random night time visit.

Had BTClost its popularity, why would people still buy it from ATM? please enlighten me.

Bitcoin is still the most popular cryptocurrency today and that wouldn't change easily. Even though its price fell down a lot on the past few months, we cannot still deny the fact that the price is still very high compared to other coins. It was the pioneer currency and I don't think it will lose its popularity even in the next decades. We need to be optimistic if we are investing in bitcoin, we should not conclude anything that would harm other people's investment, instead we should spread positivity and hope about it.

I think so because as well all I know bitcoin coins are expensive especially to those poor countries. They can't afford to invest in it the reason why there are only a few people who are interested to invest in it in poor countries. Yes, there are many establishments now adopting crypto and the technology behind crypto also. In this case, many people will probably know about bitcoin because of the usage of it and how you become to gain profit if you are investing in it. Losing popularity is impossible to happen.

I think bitcoin will still show its worth and will cost more than 25,000, but of course how soon it will happen I don’t know, for now I’m just monitoring news and the rates of different coins on neironix
