Title: Cointelegraph main facebook page was closed or deleted?
Post by: jets567 on October 12, 2019, 09:25:30 AM
It is on my end or did Cointelegraph-[EN] facebook page actually got closed or deleted? I've been reading a lot of news from this page for a long time and recently I discover that it was not showing any post on my newsfeed and when I tried to search the page, the only thing I can see is the other language version of the page. Not so sure if I was blocked though I've never comment on any of their posts.

Can anyone access the Cointelegraph facebook page? here is their official facebook link: https://www.facebook.com/cointelegraph which I got from their Twitter page https://twitter.com/cointelegraph

Edit: I just want to update you that Cointelegraph Facebook page [EN] https://www.facebook.com/pg/cointelegraph/ is now back and accessible (October 25,2019) so I'm locking this thread to avoid spam in the future.

I am also unable to access the Cointelegraph Facebook page for me It is not important. One social media that is often used is Twitter, so Twitter can still be accessed and I can still see information from Cointelegraph.

Maybe that main page they have was closed temporarily. I also see that their espaņol page was still active so it means that you were not blocked.

I doubt the facebook page blocked you. The page is not working at my end too but the Twitter page works fine.
I guess you have to go through their tweets. Maybe they already Twitted went wrong with their Facebook page.

Until now they haven't indicated any problem with their facebook page. I think that they are not aware of it or they do but they don't want to announce and disclose the reason why the page is cannot be found.

Not on the end of facebook but it's them that has taken action.

Well I usually read news on Cointelegraph through my mobile and I rarely open my Twitter account but anyway thanks for your suggestion.

I think they didn't blocked me on their page since other can't access it too and upon checking on their recent Tweets, I didn't see any news regarding their facebook page that went down.

It's blocked from my part too. Probably some temporary block from Facebook.
I suppose this will be solved, probably someone or some people reported it for any silly reason.
It will be back when the owners of this page contact Facebook to resolve this problem.

When I clicked on the Facebook link you provided in the OP, it says it is not available as of the moment. There must be something wrong with its Facebook's page. I do not follow cointelegraph's news update through Facebook anyway. The twitter is still working pretty well. I am updating myself with crypto news through twitter. Cointelegraph is one of the news sites I am following for the latest updates.

It does happen when a fact checker sees a news site is spreading fake news and I guess the competitor reported them. This could just be a suspension as facebook will just warn those facebook page for several times before they will really close down for good it continues to violate.

Now I'm not sure if cointelegraph is really speeading fake news but what I'm saying is what probably had happen or it could be the cointelegraph deleted it.

Don't jump into some conclusion, there might be some huge update with their page. If there is bad news their twitter page will tell us about it. when there is nothing on the other social media page the don't worry maybe it's just some technical problem about their page and will think about it. I was waiting for their post about the SEC decision on Telegram TON. I wonder what's wrong, thankfully it's not just me, the problem is there page.

They have all of their other languages Facebook pages intact. The operator of the default English page might have messed up with the settings to make it a private one or they are experiencing some troubles with the facebook as it's been quite a time but they haven't solved the issue yet. Their language pages and twitter are updating the news as usual.

Two things they made it private or they have reported and Facebook take it down, Cointelegraph should make a formal announcement on what happen to their account, you can place 2 or more admins on a page I don't think all of them agreed to take down the page, it's either Facebook or they agreed to make it private for now while they are updating the page, they need Facebook page it's a good source of traffic for any online company.

Changing it into a private page could be the case since they didn't make any announcement from their end, aside from Cointelegraph facebook the other social media handle are very active so it's a bit weird that they didn't notice  the issue on their own facebook page. I'm reading a lot news regarding crypto via facebook which is why I'm aware when Cointelegraph disappear on my news feed.

Probably. Most of the time these media sites are just publishing news that will benefit them and will go to lengthy to attract traffic. They will publish without even confirming the information they got to verify the truth. Since facebook is involve in cryptocurrency, maybe its time to really have FACT CHECKER for this industry.

Facebook is taking every report seriously and if they are posting a lot of fake news to create FUDS in the market and many reported it Facebook will likely take it down, but we need to really know the real score, this is a huge media site and they need their Facebook page for their followers who are active on Facebook.

It may be the beginning of a new dispute, I think with the coming of Libra, many new things we are going to see in the coming days, Facebook will take another step for the promotional purpose of Libra, and I think it's not an exception issue because if you want to enter this market then you have to beat your opponent first and then you could make your way, so if Facebook could block then it's not a surprising issue for me. I think Facebook has started already taken many steps in order to make it is way clear so they will do whatever they can for their own purpose. in the future, Facebook will bring more monitoring issues on the cryptocurrency system for sure.

since nobody can access that page, there is a good chance that Facebook itself closed down this page because it was a "cryptocurrency" news site related thing which contained a lot of crypto-related topics which was banned on facebook a while ago. they might have gotten mad that their shitcoin is being banned worldwide and started banning crypto related pages :D

I think being a cryptocurrency news page is not the issue here because I can still access Coindesk facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/coindesk/) and as far I remember only crypto advertisement was banned on facebook not the pages who are related to cryptocurrency.

its news page and not a crypto currency so i dont think there is a reason for facebook to close it.
I  been checking if there are news regarding the problem of thier fb page and upon cheking  i dont see any and there is no announcement given by cointelegraph about what happen.
