Creating a new account would be the best choice for you if you don't like your username. Having multiple accounts is not prohibited.

Why don't you first change the email of this account to a random one, and then create the new account?

One has to contact theymos prior to donating in order to get a unique donation address as stated here (https://bitcointalk.org/donate.html). Also, this page shows a different BTC address than you posted.

Your account is almost brand new. Just go ahead and create a new account, there is no other practical way to change your username, exceptions can be made though.

I don't see anyone who can change their username or delete their accounts on this forum. I find that your account rank newbie, it's best that you create a new account, with the username you like.

Afaik donator (who have donated 10 btc) also can change their username. The difference only donator can't make custom title while VIP can.

I'm surprised how someone that just create a new account would simply want to change the username. Shouldn't he or she actually double or triple confirm before registering?

I do not advise this way, creating new account is not following the protocol that we have here on our forum. If you don't like your name, you don't have way to change it, you need to accept it and learn how to like it. Or else, why don't you try to donate for the development of this forum? I myself doesn't like my name but I learned how to like it, right now you can see me, still contributing for the development of our platform.

There is literally no issue in creating a new account in here. Many people have alt accounts (theymos included :)). There is a HUGE difference between having another account or changing accounts and cheating bounties, signature campaigns, farming trust/merit, etc with multiple accounts.

I think that's not possible? I saw some posts about the beginner's guide and see that one's account cannot be renamed.

There are only two scenarios that users can change their usernames:
- Donating 50 BTC to the forum donation fund, then change usernames.
- Asking for help from admins in very very special reasons, then waiting for replies and help. Months ago, I saw one user woke up after months or years (I do not remember precisely, honestly). That user asked for help to change that account's username to anything else that different than his/her real name. Then, hours or days later, that account's username changed to randomly one. That what I saw but as I said I did not remembered where I saw that case.

That is the only way. I don't think there's any way you can change your username in this forum. Besides, his rank is newbie, nothing worth treasuring here. That's my thought, if you have comments please let me know

Usually forums don't allow members to change due to database conflicts and also avoid identity confusion.

Only Theymos or the administrator or the admin of the forum can do that they an option in their admin panel that they can modify member's usrname, you did not specify why do you need to change your username if there was no history here that Theymos have changed anyone's name here

It’s very rare that a name change is granted other than buy resolting to some of the options stated on this thread (VIP, Donator).

He’s not on the list of VIPs nor Donators (https://bitcointalk.org/donate.html), so there was probably a reason that was strong enough for the change of name to occur. The name is not completely changed though, and I figure it maintains a high relationship to the original name.

I believe that you should immediately choose a nickname suitable for yourself so that you don’t think about it later.

Will your present username make you not to post a quality post in this forum or will it stop you from achieving your goal. Changing your username or not doesn't matter as far as you're here to contribute meaningfully

Trust me username doesn't matters on this forum I have seen the wierdest of names but no one cared about them unless your name is maybe Osama bin Laden or maybe Donald trump😂 I don't think paying 50BTC is a wise choice even if you have😂 or creating a new account too as that would also not be for any good so aim just at contributing on this forum than just Worrying about your username.

This 50 BTC donation for changing the name was way back in 2014 when bitcoin price was nothing. I think they need to revise this amount according to the btc price.
Just like sometimes people get their name changed in real world and get it updated on their passports / id, there should be an option here too.

I assume it is not a technical issue, and that the profile UserId (numeric) is what is used as a primary key in the underlying supportive forum database (and not the username itself). Being not a technical issue, what’s left is a logical reason. The one I can think of as plausible is that forum accounts here have a certain tie to finance. There are sellers, scammers, people you trust and people whom you distrust. Having people being able to change their username freely could easily lead to confusion as to whom you are dealing with. In a worst-case scenario, a trusted forum member could change his username, and have the old username taken by a scammer.

We both know that the forum moderator sometimes upgrades or change the forum rules base on users suggestion which will improve the forum security and I believed the username in the subject was changed right before the username restrictions (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5192391.20) occurred while changing of username was disabled due to scam (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3032057.msg31217575#msg31217575) but I think only Theymos change display name now.

What protocol? There is literally no rule prohibiting a member to create another account not unless the first account was banned in the forum (Check Rules #18 and 25 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0)). If this was against "protocol" then DarkStar (DarkStar_alt (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=862062)) and LoyceV (LoyceMobile (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1903546)) won't be having alt accounts here in the forum, it's simple as that since it would be against the rules you believe in. As long as the OP isn't ban evading he can create a new account with the username he likes multiple times without creating any issues in the forum.

Just create a new account if you don't like your username. You don't have many posts or much rank do it wouldn't matter if you start from new.

Beside, you said you wont be able to create a new account under same email. While that's correct, you can use xyz@googlemail.com if your original email is xyz@gmail.com. Google allows both of emails under same account. I don't know if it's against rules, so I'm sorry if it's. As far as I know, it's allowed to have multiple accounts (unless you use it for bounties, sig campaigns).

Better to create a fresh account with fresh details with the username your heart desires ;)
