Title: phoenix/poclbm miner via bitcoind service
Post by: 100%digital on November 15, 2011, 04:13:16 PM
Hello All,

when using the phoenix miner via ubuntu(...pretty sure this makes no difference -regarding OS selection) my clients will connect to my local bitcoind server (via RPC) and the Phoenix miner will report connected and MHASH speed... but shares will not increase or reject. However, my second machine running POCLBM (via windows) it will also connect and show MHASH speeds, but it also shows shares accepted (and returns a checksum hash)...

when i was participating via a pool my Phoenix miner would also display shares accepted/rejected, but since moving to bitcoind server (solo) it does not...

any suggestions/experience with this is most appreciated,

regards,

J

...oh after I solve blocks I plan to use my BTC to purchase hard core drugs and hookers, any suggestion(s)/experiences in this area is also appreciated.

there are no 'shares' in solo mining. If you're mining against local bitcoind, miner will report only valid block back to bitcoind. So you should expect 'accepted/rejected' once per... say... a year.

many thanx for your reply slush,

only reason why i ask (regarding share completed output) is because poclbm does report back with shares completed, whereas phoenix does not -it just reports its current hash rate.

I do understand the concepts behind pool'd mining and how they leverage "shares" to distribute effort amongst there're users, just funny/strange that one client reports this and the other does not????
