Title: If You Died Tomorrow, What Would Happen To Your Crypto?
Post by: Brybro27 on October 18, 2019, 05:04:43 PM
As more and more investors join this sector, a question everyone should be asking themselves is: "What happens to my crypto if I was to die unexpectedly soon?"

I understand the thought of this is depressing, but it is inevitable and the only thing that matters is whether you prepared for it or not. Most of us have enough money in this game to start preparing for this in order to prevent it from going to waste.

If you haven't planned around this, or even thought about it yet, I recommend investigating the few options below:

1) Include all your wallets and passwords/seeds in your will. Make sure you include instructions on how to access your funds as well as giving these to someone not familiar with crypto will be just as useless as not even including them in your will.

2) Along with the will, teach the closest person in your life how to access your funds. Whether this is your significant other, family member, or really close friend, make sure someone understands how to access a wallet and transfer/sell the funds. Just like how you should be researching projects before you invest in it, make sure you choose who you share your secrets with carefully.

3) Take a look at Safe Haven (https://safehaven.io/). Safe Haven is building an Inheritance Platform that will allow you to do everything above, but with a legal entity that understands crypto and will make sure your funds get in the right hands. Not only will you reassured that your funds are secured and inheritable, but you will also be increasing the adoption of crypto yourself, outside of just investing into it.

So no matter what you are invested in, if it is a large amount of money, I recommend you begin thinking about the future. Crypto is very complex and requires a lot of time to make it fully inheritable, so please make sure you take the appropriate safeguards and steps in doing this correctly.

I think those who wish to do the cryptocurrency will should try as much as possible to avoid letting this into the hand of third-parties. I would prefer having my cryptocurrency automatically transferred to my family once it's certain that I am dead. Peer-to-peer transaction is a very important ideal of cryptocurrency.

I told my parents and my girlfriend passwords and all the necessary things to gain access to cryptocurrencies if anything happened to me, hope that this will not happen, but it would be a big mistake not to think about it.
I know that some smart contract solution is a much more elegant solution, but they are not ready to have own wallets.  ;)

Unfortunately, my parents don't believe in crypto so I didn't even try to explain this to them. However, I'm trying to get my brother to at least understand it just in case the death reaper comes for me soon.

I know that some smart contract solution is a much more elegant solution, but they are not ready to have own wallets.  ;)

The cool part about Safe Haven is that you don't need to create different wallets or set anything up separately. Basically, you split your keys into pieces and you give one piece to your party and the other to the legal entity. So when the time comes, the party you setup will receive both pieces in order to access the funds.

At least, this is how I originally understood it. Haven't had too much time to digest all the technical details, but I'm following Safe Haven either way because I think this will be the most efficient and easiest way to transfer funds from myself to whoever I want them to be transferred too. This is a unique issue that affects everyone so it will be interesting to see how it is implemented.

I do not know much about Safe Haven but giving cryptocurrency to the third party is pretty dangerous, I think. Or how it works? There is no exact informations how it will work.
But as soon as possible we need to solve such questions to attract more people to invest into cryptocurrencies.  :)

if I die, maybe they will sell my investment for shipping my funeral costs. because I already have that plan before I even have crypto assets and also the worst possibility if I die tomorrow (I mean I've written a will about it)

so for me, this is not a serious problem. but not with other people,

It sounds dangerous, especially since this sector is completely filled with scams and fake projects these days. However, Safe Haven knows that this will be the biggest hurdle to overcome as they will need to earn everyone's trust before their Inheritance Platform will be used. That is why they founded the Trust Alliance Network and are partnering with real, and credible legal entities.

For more technical information on how the Inheritance will work, I recommend reading their Whitepaper (https://safehaven.io/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/SafeHaven_WhitePaper.pdf).

Sounds easy though. I will just include my personal note book that contains all my crypto activities in my will

We have pen and paper which can be a way to write them everything they need tonknow about your belonging. We should have flashdrive also which indicates in the letter where to find and how to unlock.
Me i have my laptop secured with password and my wife knows how to open it and how will he manage to get my wealth in crypto

It is easy. Everyone has this information already organized, or at least everyone should for their own recovery/usage. I just want to make sure everyone has a plan on sharing this information when they pass as our assets will be of no use locked in a wallet that no one knows about!

It takes a matter of minutes to cover yourself so just make sure you have a plan laid out.

Nobody from my friends or relatives has an opinion of how to use crypto currencies, so I would probably suggest that no one would have access to my crypto at the end. Hopefully, nothing happens, or I would probably start learning girlfriend how to use MEW.

I'd highly recommend against this! Just because none of your friends or relatives don't know anything about crypto doesn't mean that you should just let your investments go to waste! If anything, write an instructional guide and share it with your family. Tell them they don't need to know what to do know, but if the time comes, then they need to follow the instructions step-by-step in order to access your funds!

I am sure if someone dies with a crypto bag 99 percent chances are that his portfolio will be lost, because most people will not share their passwords and private keys while they are alive even with their close ones. I think in few more years when crypto adoption will increase only then their will be some services or platforms that may offer such services to transfer the portfolio to declared wallets in case of death of hodler.

i told myself the true. i will forget everything. i am the last son. Nobody cares about me. No girlfriend,  last son of the family, no job, nothing to write home about. so if i am gone. everything will go down the drain. in case i forget. My senior brothers Knows nothing about cryptocurrency. probably,  i am the only one that know everything about my account. my wallet, private keys and the rest.

I have been thinking about this for a long time. I have prepared it so that my cryptocurrency can be owned by my family one day if I die.. I have left a letter in my personal safe and it contains about where I keep my crypto coins, emails, and private keys.  I told my wife that "as long as I was alive no one could open my personal safe unless I died first"!!  I'm lucky.. my wife listens and wants to understand what I mean.

I completed the first steps you listed a long time ago, and I am ready for it. But I have no information about the third option you show. I do not have a long time to check the site, so we are already tired of dealing with scam projects, and I do not want new one. How reliable is this project? and apparently the services will be available in the coming days.

I did the number 2. After marriage, I introduced the world of crypto that I worked for 5 years to my wife. The goal is to be able to understand what I do for the needs of her life. If tomorrow I will die, then tonight I will make a notepad containing privatekey, login details to the exchanger with funds, how to buy and sell, and how to change to FIAT. Of course, with as much detail as possible.

certainly what will happen with the cryptocurrency that I have will be trapped in my wallet and exchange place that can only be accessed by me, it is a very fatal mistake, you should be able to have family members who have access to your cryptocurrency assets so that when you die wife or your child can try to access to a wallet that you have and can be used to increase economic conditions.

Very well said, why would you do it? well think about your sacrifices and effort just to earn it and you'll let it go? can't blame you since we have different perspective but you have to understand that somehow it is still valuable and worth it. Some of my family members doesn't have enough understanding about crypto, i'm lucky to have my brother who have a bit of knowledge and I know that he can help them to research and learn about it.

It would be better for your family to benefit from your earnings/investment, you can't bring your crypto in the afterlife.
That's why letting your family or loved ones about your currency will give you an assurance that it won't put to waste even after you die. We should let them experience the technology of crypto.

Death is inevitable and whenever it can happen, we do not know when it will happen. And I personally only share about cryptocurrency to those closest to me and teach him a little about cryptocurrency so that he can later use it or he can access it, although now he can access it but I really believe in him, because he is the closest person to me for a long time.

This will be the bright idea if you are stocking huge amount of money in crypto currencies so your money will not be burned and the rest of your family can still use it.

But I'm sure that only few are doing this as others are confident that they can still live a long life. It will be best if they will consider this option as we cannot predict what will happen to us in every seconds that will come.

I already have a plan for my Cryptocurrencies when I'm gone but I have a suggestion for you guys. What if you write it on a single notebook and write all the stories like diaries with enough information to make the one that reads it fully understand the concepts of blockchain and cryptocurrencies. along with the pages of information also put everything there from the lists of exchanges accounts and passwords to the private keys. After that, bury it somewhere safe. Make a map of where you bury it and sometimes in your life, give them a clue about it, little by little. when you die at least they will have a lead on where you put your digital treasure.

Actually I haven't thinking what is the plan to settle my crypto assets after I'm pass away, until now my family and wife nothing know about cryptocurrency, everything is under my control, it's too hard to tell them what is that and how to use, currently maybe I don't have too much crypto assets and still young, I'm still haven't plan yet, let my crypto assets stone sinking into the sea if I'm suddenly died.

I hope Safehaven will have good success in their venture we need something like this in this industry and every country where Cryptocurrency is popular, should have a service like this to serve Crypto holders, it will make things easy for the holder and their heir.
Cryptocurrency can now be considered a growing asset and it should be inherited by the heir in a proper way and they should be educated on how Cryptocurrency works.

The best thing to do is to educate your family about Cryptocurrency and how it works, so in case anything happens to you, you know what your family is going to do with your Cryptocurrency, who knows one of the coin that you've thought is useless will suddenly hype a thousand times and you family is the one that will reap the fruit of your rewards.

Planning to do nr2 on the list, but as my closest people don't have any clue how the cryptocurrencies work, i feel like i need to write a lot for them to prevent from being scammed. I can already picture how they deliver privatekeys to some "expert" and get scammed. I might just leave my legder to safetybox on bank. Even if i don't trust banks with my money, one thing i trust them to do is keep the safety lockers safe.

If the truth is we don't know when we will die, in terms of the understanding that I read, you want to invest in cryptocurrency that you have can be used by your own family without a third person, I tell them that I will write on every worksheet along with private key so that one day my assets can be opened and used by my family without involving a third person

We don't know what will happen tomorrow, so I am not keeping a secret from my wife, she knows all my passwords especially in email where I do have back ups too for private keys, etc, so I am not worried that all my hodling will be gone for nothing, as I know it is secure any my family can benefit of it.

It is better to let someone knows your password rather than burying your hard earned crypto investment with yourself.

It is because of the deaths that we can see a huge number of abandoned wallets. We need to keep up with the progress and try to inform society. After all, this is a very important problem. Now you can leave a will with a notary or provide all the necessary information to your loved ones on various media. For example, a portable hard drive and attach to it step by step instructions.

There is no chance to trust my coins to an unknown and unproven solution like Safehaven.

I prefer to make my own preparation.
A small amount, kept on Exchanges most propably will vanish.
My closest people know how to operate with my Ledger.

"What happens to my crypto if I was to die unexpectedly soon?"

I am sure many of us have a plan if they die soon. Perhaps, they will give their crypto to a beloved person before they died.

Related to numbers 1 and 2, I think most of us already prepare for that, and they will give all their wallets and passwords/seeds at the right time. They already teach their beloved person how to use the crypto and tells about everything they know for that person.

3) Take a look at Safe Haven. Safe Haven is building an Inheritance Platform that will allow you to do everything above, but with a legal entity that understands crypto and will make sure your funds get in the right hands.

I don't know anything about that project. I instead choose the profitable crypto like bitcoin and the other altcoin list from the top 10 or 20 at the coinmarketcap as the investment. But I want bitcoin as the main investment, so if I died, the person who I choose could use all of my cryptos without a problem.

I will think of this when the right time comes. Well, they say that the right time is always now or today. I think this not apt at all times and circumstances. I have not yet thought of coming up with a will or a similar document because I am still young, very young, and full of life. It is true that the angel of death may come at anytime it wants but I will gladly just tell it to come back 4 decades later when I have prepared my crypto will.

Your crypto would stay where it is after your death but if you have precautionary measures so that your investment wouldn't go to waste, you can avoid the unfortunate of earning for nothing. We don't know what the future holds so we should be ready always, try securing an emergency password for your family members so that they can benefit on the thing that you worked for. Try finding an investment out of crypto also that has an insurance that all of your earnings could go to your family after your death.

No one could stay longer in this temporary world, much better if we prepare ourselves, so having an alternate person second to you is a very secure way for your asset to be spend by your loved ones who still lived. If you're married, you should open that confidentiality to your spouse, because crypto asset is encrypted and cannot be touched without our prescence.

There is no chance to trust my coins to an unknown and unproven solution like Safehaven.

I prefer to make my own preparation.
A small amount, kept on Exchanges most propably will vanish.
My closest people know how to operate with my Ledger.

Were on the same boat mate because you can't guarantee that this third-party will give your crypto wallet details to your beloved ones when they can cash-out it by themselves once they confirm that their customer died. A documented account details or a ledger is the best option that can be easily past to your closest friends or family members when something bad happen to you.

It is really important to be ready for our death especially for our cryptocurrencies, that is why if you didn't tell to anyone where did you store your private keys, password and hardware wallet to access on your crypto wallet, obviously all of your crypto will be stock for a long time and it could be gone. Good thing i told to my brother where i hid all of my private keys, and hardware wallet for him to know if i die, that is why all of my cryptocurrencies will be safe to him.

It's best to let someone cloae and someone you trust to learn about crypto and know how to access your wallet just in case something happens. Making a will just in case something happens is also a good way to secure that someone else in your family will make use of all your hard earned cryptocurrency. Haven't known of Safe Haven before but I guess it will be good to have a third party taking care of your assets aside of your attorney to assure that your cryptocurrencies are secured. Death is inevitable and it would be a waste if your family will not be able to atleast use your hard earned crypto in case of death.

Just like you that it is important to educate the family to be important, at least they know the basics of cryptocurrency to be able to provide such an introduction that nowadays the fact is that people do not know about cryptocurrency as an investment that is widely done but many families still do not understand

I gave them copies my backup phrase so they can access it when there is an emergency.

I have shared all my private keys with my partner so whatever happens, I'm confident that my earnings would surely go straight to my family. It's important that we're preparing for things that might happen in the future.

The very simple thing will happen after your death if you don't share your private keys and password with your wife or your parents, or someone who do you believe, since this cryptocurrency platform is not accountable to get back your thing if you lost your password so we should keep our valuable password both in the online and offline, I think it's not a difficult task for us to keep those very carefully, if you have a good amount of cryptocurrency including Bitcoin then it must carry a good amount of money after your death, So let's share our password to our credible person in case of any urgent situation. because we never know what will come to our life.

My o my, this post is most basic recipe for a disaster. Whatever you do, don't follow it's advice.
Placing your keys online? You cant be serious about this, google spreadsheet belongs to google, zero privacy is quarantined.
And this part about wife... cuckery. I could understand some arguments about kids and bank vault waiting for them but this, in modern day and age, is a pure risk, that have the potential to ruin a guy in the instance of divorce.
As of right now, my stuff goes with me, in to the hole (coins get buried) or fire, they will literally get burned  ;D
More to that, you all should be thanking me for having this stance, that's real altruism.

Death can come at any time, but this thought is very far away. I once made an investment, where there was a death point and the transfer of investment rights in the investment ownership guarantee letter. Indeed in cryptocurrency there is no guarantee of ownership rights and arrangements such as transfer. Although this needs to be done so that your crypto is not locked without anyone knowing, but it is rather strange to think about this.

it is not something strange in my opinion it is an anticipation of the risk in investing in crypto currencies because we also do not know the prediction of the development of crypto currencies and assets that we have must have someone who can access them and of course the person we really trust and everything can happen

Yeah, you can't deceive death but all one can do is to be prepared for it. Since most of the people want their future, their family's future to be secured, so it's better to make your family or your closest ones aware of all your investments in the crypto, your accounts, passwords previously before the death so that they could manage them after you and that can help them to sustain life else all your money would be lost...

If you answer the question in essence, then personally in my case all my work and the cryptocurrency that I saved will disappear without a trace in the event of my death.  It is today such a situation that there is no such person in my family who can understand the activities that I do.  But it would be correct to write a will, and this needs to be done at the moment for every person, regardless of what he does, but in cases with cryptocurrency users, you need not only a will, but also conduct some training for the person to whom you will bequeath your cryptocurrency assets.  In addition, if the will shows where your funds are stored, then one way or another, the person who receives everything under the will will be forced to understand and study this issue in order to use cryptocurrency assets.

I think we just had a similar thread floating around here somewhere.  Anyway, I’ve told family members about my interest in crypto and also that I’ve written down passwords and seed phrases in a notebook that I keep secured.  Not that big of a deal since I don’t have enough crypto in total to make anybody even close to wealthy.

As I said in that other thread, individuals with very large amounts of bitcoin or alts ought to have a will made up so there’s no mistaking who gets what and how to access it.  I don’t think anybody should own significant amounts of crypto without putting into place a plan.  That’s irresponsible and short sighted.  We’re all going to die at some point and nobody knows when that’s going to be, so planning is important.

I've entrusted a few people close to me with one of several keys that can be combined to unlock a multisignature wallet with a part of my funds I've set aside purely in the case that I were to die, and I've also left the locations and coordinates of a few cold wallets I've got and basic instructions on how to use those cold wallets (in various forms, paper wallets and hardware etc). I still keep the majority of my coins on my personal cold wallet and those coins are likely going to be lost in the event that I die, but that's for in the case someone decides to take my coins early.

There's really no perfect solution to this. Simplest thing is that your coins go with you when you die.

In 2017-2018 I thought about this one way I think we should teach families (brothers, sisters, cousins, etc.) that can be trusted and teach them how to access our wallets and also teach them to sell the assets we have, and I don't trust close friend because he could have actually just taken our assets but to avoid this maybe I could make an agreement as well and maybe also make a legal statement first and notify our family.

This is worth giving a though, death is inevitable, if your crypto wallet is secretly accessible to you only it may go useless after you. Your current crypto profile may be worth nothing but if it contains lot of crypto coins which may increase in future giving good return. It is very important to give access to some very close friend or family members of yours to access your wallet . I think the best way is to teach your spouse or any person you trust the most to access your wallet when you are not there.

I have been here for about a year, on the other hand I started teaching my brother to know the crypto industry and how to store assets in one place. from there I don't worry if I die tomorrow because my sister is the first person I tell about my wallet.

Hmm.. good for you. I don't have such a luxury, because I don't trust anyone with my coins. It was my husband who introduced me to the world of cryptocurrency back in 2014. I haven't shared my backup or private keys even with him. Sharing them with siblings is also out of question. I don't trust them 100% as well. For now, I am the only one who can access my coins. If something happens to me, then $30,000 worth of coins will be lost. But that's the way it is going to be. Don't have any other option right now.

Well, be careful and prepared. Storing private keys in paper format is not difficult, but you need to know who can be trusted, and this also applies to notaries, lawyers or other.
We say that it may be useful to leave a set of instructions to a notary, indicating the place where "documents" are stored without specifying what it is.

Always be in the positive side, You have to specify those information without giving any idea if what are those due to the possibilities that even those types of services can harm your assets. Thinking about making it more legal and allowing your store assets be in the right hands after something wrong happens to you.

Let everything be in the right position. Dying can't be stop, planning ahead is a must not to let your assets turned to nothing after.

Well.. for my part I have taken a printout of all the private keys to my Bitcoin wallets and the hard copy is with my parents. They don't know anything about Bitcoins, and therefore I think that my coins are safe. But this is not a 100% safe method. Always there is a chance of a robbery occuring at home and these backup sheets stolen. And once the coins are moved from the wallet, there is no method to get them back. I think this is a major issue facing the cryptocurrency users as of now.

And this is why I am thinking about purchasing a hardware wallet. It is easier to keep secure backups with hardware wallets. And if something happens to me, then my relatives will be able to access the hardware wallet (provided that I am keeping my PIN number somewhere secure). But the advantage with hardware wallet is that it makes your coins more susceptible to government seizure or confiscation. If we keep our coins in online wallets, then there is no such risk.

The answer to the question is a bit obvious, it would remain in your wallet, ofcourse, unless, there are other people who knows about private infos of your wallet in order for them to take over of your holdings. Your holdings won't vanish just because the wallet is no longer active, as far as I know. So basically it does depend to the person if he would let other people know about his investments in crypto if ever he would die someday just to be prepared and for investments to not be wasted.

Basically, if the owner dies and his wallet was left inactive, the supply of circulating crypto will decreased. Unless he trusted it to someone else and continue using cryptocurrency as his heir, which is better so someone can benefit from the earned crypto than letting it to put to waste and become inactive forever.

I understand that the tokens would stay in your wallet. That is obvious. The whole meaning of this post was to hopefully get people to start thinking about taking the necessary steps in order to secure their investments beyond their life. Whether it is sharing your keys and passwords with a close one, or planning to utilize Safe Haven in the near-future, something should be planned out so your investments don't get wasted.

Bitcoin and other crypto is must be taboo in their mind, and they might thought bitcoin is something that used in crime or something like money laundring.
But it's okay, we can tell them and prove them that bitcoin and cryptocurrency is the future.
Awkward moment when i tell them about crypto and bitcoin, in television appear some people who scammed other people with investment scheme. And about ransomware which get famous because attack a lot of computer in the world, they ask bitcoin as payment right?  ;D When that happen, i only tell my parents if bitcoiin is like money, it can be used to any transaction.

I have already told someone dear to me regarding my crypto, so if ever anything happens to me, she can use my crypto savings in any way she wants. I know she can use it in a good way because I really trust her so much.
I also divided my crypto so my family can get half of my crypto investment.

As more and more investors join this sector, a question everyone should be asking themselves is: "What happens to my crypto if I was to die unexpectedly soon?"
I haven't told any of my relatives about my stuff about bitcoin and my portfolio specially my account. Age gap were the means of why I do find difficult telling something about crypto community. Aside from this even my brother itself doesn't even have any care about crypto currency itself I am just the one who are interested in this.

This is good if the beneficiary were knowledgeable about cryptocurrency otherwise it would just go to waste. In my case, I do not have any, as much as I wanted my relatives would be the best choice. Besides choosing strangers were suspicious specially if they were bunch of greedy people in behind.

I don't need to worry about it s my sister knows all my passwords in email, my private keys, so I know that if I will die now, my earnings, investments will not be buried together with me. I know that someone can access on it, so it is really better that someone you trusted knows about your password and everything.

We pray for long life, however, my wife knows I am into cryptocurrency, I will soon induct her into it when I can buy her a laptop and a new phone, so she knows where I keep all my password. It's important we have a trustee not just for death's sake, tomorrow might be a different day.

I think TrustVerse and Digipulse is a similar platform. But as for me, I wouldn't trust my crypto to any 3rd party services. The best thing to do is, while you're still alive and kicking, make sure to teach and share your knowledge to the people you trust; people you wish to inherit your cryptocurrencies when you die. Teach them how to access your cryptocurrencies, how to effectively safeguard it, use it and possibly profit from it. Then, that's the time you can make a will about it. This way, not only they will surely inherit your cryptocurrencies, but they will also have full knowledge of what to do with it.

From how to trade, in the platform, to withdraw it from the wallet, and deposit it going to fiat something like that.

Guys, go research and get term life insurance. 10 years maybe. For about $30 per month, your beneficiary will get $500k. More or less. This way, if I die and there was no plan in place to transfer the crypto, they still get something.

Forget Safe Haven, I already wrote down all information regarding my bitcoin and altcoins wallets, even some of the cryptocurrency exchanges that I usually traded altcoins on a notepad and save it on my personal "private" flash drive in case if I die without notice. It is a very bad idea to store some crypto without writing down the wallet information, anything can happen in this life.

My loved one I live with is knowledgeable about cryptography. So I'm sure that if something happens to me, he knows where my passwords and private keys are and he can get my funds in the event of my death. It is very important that someone from your family was aware of this, so you need to tell them about crypto.

Bequeathed crypto that we have, a good idea but it's kind of terrible to imagine it. I have a friend who has cryptocurrency and trader, at that moment he suddenly died. Before his death, he told his family's a password and private key to open the crypto fund, with the help of our community successfully taking the funds and giving them to his family. I think cases like this are rare, but nevertheless you should really think of this will.

I think that if you have entered this market, you should instruct your relatives how to get the property the easiest way because the incident may happen unexpectedly so many precautions should be taken. n my opinion should include specific details about the private key, 2FA, the exchange you are using so that your loved one can easily get it without major obstacles. I have been preparing this for a long time so if anything happens to me my relatives don't need to worry about the property.

Does it mean that you're going to sell all your crypto holdings and turn it into fiat so that you will be assured that your crypto profits are secured with the bank? don't do that.
You should talk to the closest person that you want to give those holdings as your last will. Because if it's on the bank and nobody claims it, the bank will just simply claim it and take the money if your account becomes dormant.

My partner knows everything about my investment and private keys, so if im gone he can access everything I left.

At first its a bit hard for him to understand crypto since he is not techie and rarely use computer but he did his best because its for the future of our kids.

Before you dead you have save your crypto account data in your computer, you can give data to your family where you can trust him. Without giving data to your family when you dead all bitcoin and altcoin assets in your wallet gone without get cash out, will be forever in your wallet without no one can take your bitcoin and altcoin assets for your data.

That's funny. But seriously writing all keys, and emails, is very nice the only problem here is how they can grasp all the procedures in handling those asset. Yes there is an instruction but if youre not really into thing like crypto then it will take time. I suggest that write also in the note, a referral or recommendation to someone you know very close that knows crypto as well. He can help in cashing out those funds for them.

I even occasionally start teaching crypto to my family so that tomorrow my grandchildren will not be surprised to know cryptoqurrency in the future.

Do not leave it to people to understand. Leave them exact instructions step by step.

When they do not understand all of them even their passwords and private keys are not understand.
So for the anticipation, we have to draw our assets or teach them how to use the crypto itself.

Safehaven service or similar service is right in targetting this industry, imagine there are millions of people investing in Cryptocurrency and majority of them had a portfolio consists of coins that will have chance in the market in the future, maybe not now, but imagine if these coins are lost because the holders did not know how to properly give this to his loved ones, when his time has come, so there should be a company or companies that should manage this for the family of the holders.

I wonder if there will be something like insurance companies in online crypto will do such task. In Life Insurance your beneficiaries will get some amount depending on your chosen plan when you die, but since crypto is decentralized I wonder if there will be business or blockchain project that will do this which is seems to have a potential.

Putting the keys of your wallets in your will is the only way I know to safely pass your properties from this industry to your love ones when you die. It is good to have a plan in case anything happens. It is indeed vital to also teach those persons how to use and handle your wallets. It is even better to teach them about this industry and encourage them to participate as well. It can be good bonding time as well as long as you explain to him/her the risks that every move in this industry bares.

Including the wallets a well as instructions on the will is a sound plan. One's life is short and pale but it doesn't ends there. Passing your wallet to someone else is like passing a legacy and to continue the dream that you might not meet. I know it is sad, but it doesn't mean the dream won't happen.

This is a solid point , and something to think about.
The problem is that young people dont think of such things , only older people think of the possibilty of passing away.

I for example have not shared my keys to noone.

Also I know that there was few projects which were working with this problem and somehow were trying to solve it.

I like how you worded this. I don't know if everyone looks at it the same way, but for me as well, investing in crypto at this point is more about investing in a project and adoption. I'm not looking for quick returns; rather, I'm looking for long term development and adoption. I'm only invested in the projects that I believe will make an impact in this sector and in the world.

So when we talk about making our crypto assets inheritable, for me as well, this means passing on my dream of increasing crypto's adoption and supporting the projects that I'm committed too.

Ideally, you should create step-by-step instructions for your loved ones so that in case of your death they could gain access to your cryptocurrency.
This instruction can be executed together with the will and transferred for storage to the appropriate authorities or to your lawyer. A simple envelope with unknown contents along with a will.

But death will surely come whether we accept it or not. Let's talk about fate crypto that I hold until now if I die. If I will
make a plan related to this with make all important notes about privacy in one file, then I save it on a flash drive. Save
The flash drive is in a safe place and is known to those we care about. So when we die all inheritance The crypto is all there.

Hey OP, you got great points here, first, you are right that we should try and include our coin in our will, but the reason why we may not really get attention of people on this is because we have too many young people that are in their early 30s and 40s in this cryptocurrency market, and none of them really do plan for death because they feel that they are young and forgetting the fact that death is not a respecter of anyone, most people that usually do pay attention to will are the ones from above 60s, but this will be great way to pass on our cryptocurrency to our beloved ones when we die.

Another point that I could grasp from your write up is that we should just ensure that we make some of our loved ones have the secret pass to our crypto which would have been a really nice idea also, but in this corruptworld that everyone is an enemy, people would even kill you before your time to have access to it. So trusting someone now is really not that easy.

Nothing big gonna happen, because all that I've as bitcoin is the earnings out of the cryptotalk campaign. This will be taken by the yobit exchange as the payment is credited to the yobit account. Myself trying to buy and hold for the future, but I was unable to bear the expenses of the family and then spend on buying a little as investment for the future.
There is something you should do because you can't predict when you will pass away so you should secure every profit you already earned to be used by your family when you are gone. Maybe create some file and you should include to that file every important information about your account, your wallet, your account that is being used for you to earn. So that they can use it when you are gone. And the money will circulate and not being stocked forever. Maybe you should teach also at least one of your family on how to manage crypto and also how to earn money in cryptocurrency, market maybe pump anytime soon.

I have no idea...
at this time there are some people who know where I keep privatkey from my personal wallet. When I die, maybe they will use my crypto coins. it's certain that the coins won't disappear because I'm dead. there will be people who will use it later.

If anything should happened, I think that will be the end of all my crypto assets cos none of family member or friend ever believed or support me in crypto. Each time I raised the issue on how crypto works, they keep discouraging me to forget about it and do something good.

Actually this is something that I keep thinking about all this time, but I have planned to prepare all my data and compile it into 1 file, and I also write how to access the file completely. That's all I save into some secondary storage such as 2x flashdisk, 2x CD, and also 1x hard drive (this is to prevent if one of the others is damaged). Then after that I put it in a box, and I told my family not to open this box before I died.

If I die tomorrow, what will happen to my altcoin?
I have private data backups in my brother's email. maybe he will be responsible when I die later. but I also doubt, he understands about this. because he doesn't really understand crypto. so maybe I will give a brief knowledge about crypto just in case if one day I die suddenly.

You should teach them before that day came we all not know when will be our last day and if you have large crypto balance all of them will be wasted for nothing if you will not teach them how to recover your funds.
You can make a note providing all your key if something bad happen they know what to do.

Being prepared for this is especially necessary now as we grow older and develop unforeseen illnesses. This is what I thought, so I made some instructions on how to get my crypto wealth and get it in the hands of my son and wife. But my wife didn't know this because I knew he would be angry with me, So when I die in this world I will leave it and my wife will discover this at the right time.

Wao, this is a mind blowing question. The fact is, a lot of people die without people having or knowing their Crypto assets/investments. As long as privacy is necessary on the Crypto, someone still needs to have access to your Crypto investments. For me, my sister and my husband knows or have access to my passwords. Should anything happens, they will definitely have access to them (my investments)

Lol. Apparently no one gives this a thought, out of superstition or just plain oversight. I think it's proper we have a cryptocurrency book or diary where we can write sensitive things which will be stored in a safe place at home or maybe treasure Bank.

Yes, cryptocurrency is quite difficult to understand. But over time, I believe that there will be a lot of training courses about blockchain and cryptocurrency, and many educational institutions will also talk about it. So the society will develop and be formed. But take care of your personal funds will still not be superfluous, so that your family could use them in case of something.

Before you died have prepare your bitcoin account save to your trusted family, you can save and give them bitcoin data now and teach him how to use and sell bitcoin assets before waiting you died, we don't know when we die and what happen for us at the future, keep ready is better before late and we can't take bitcoin assets anymore if we died without talk to our family.

to understand and use cryptocurrency there is no need for special training and or a subject at any institution, basic knowledge just to use and transact with crypto can be done easily for now because there are many articles and others that discuss this and are easy to understand. so to prepare and anticipate if you die by leaving these crypto assets, then just enough to give them basic knowledge of how to use and transact and not have to bother about special training or whatever it is

This could be a good problem for big investor. For me I will set up a family member as a nominee. Then I will write down all steps how to open or how to use even will write authentication code if exchange used. Then all I will put in bank account, this is the plan to me.

Great thing, will do that too, I trust my family, so I am entrusting everything with my sibling, I let her know my password in my laptop, and in my email, telling her that whenever something happens to me then she can access to it, I know how much she values me, so I know I can trust her a lot.

Besides sharing our personal info, let's make sure that they know how to access it a well, so I told her about everything, she's still teenager and time will come she will be able to do this crypto world too soon.

I always guide my family on how to trade in this market and open a separate account for them. I think any money I make in this market they know and can withdraw at any time if I have a problem. In my opinion this issue needs to be decided as soon as you enter this market and if you hold a large asset in the crypto market then your relatives must be the first to know. Of course I will teach them how to trade in the crypto market every month and make more specific videos if I am free.

I already discussed how crypto works, how to open a wallet and how to familiarize the coins I have held. I don’t entrust my crypto assets with a third party or organization for security purposes. Better we have a plan like this as we cannot foretell what will happen tomorrow.

Yes, I agree with your point, regarding crypto assets, it is better to give it to the closest person or someone we love, be it our parents or siblings and it is important to tell about how to access the wallet / how to transact with crypto ,. I personally do not have plans to share my crypto assets with third parties, even though it is guaranteed to be safe but it is far more risky. on the one hand I had anticipated this before death would pick me up later.

And we don't have any way to be sure about these guarantees as well. It would sound logical to just have the private keys and information to someone that you fully trust. If you don't have any, to some charitable institution that has a pretty good reputation. I wouldn't want to take all my crypto assets with me after i'm gone and i'd prefer to have either my loved ones or people who are in need to benefit from it.

i think such approaches as safe haven is doing is really great. i haven't thought of any usable alternative to such a service yet.
i still find a way to manage the data transfer, but there must also be people who help the members with the processing. :)
only access data alone is not enough. so there would certainly be a market for these services here.

Since this is an investment and can become a good inheritance to all your children, you should make it a point to create a method where you can transfer this to all your heirs easily and they should understand how this thing works in the first place, your pointers are all good but educating your heirs about your investment is still the best option.

At the moment, I can say that my cryptocurrency, in case of my death tomorrow, will remain inaccessible to my relatives. The reason is simple.
I have not yet prepared for this event, I have not created instructions for my family, and I do not know when I will do it.

After all, it’s difficult to think about death and prepare for something like this, it is equivalent to writing a will, it is difficult psychologically when you are still alive and full of energy.
However, I believe that everyone should take on this responsibility and create instructions for their near and dear ones. So that in case of your death, they can use your cryptocurrency.

Well if you die unexpectedly before you can give anyone your wallet information or any other way to obtain your BTC, then it is essentially lost forever. I was thinking of Cutting my 24 seed in half. I keep half, and then I cut the 12 words in half and give six words to two different family members. That way, they would have to work together and still come find my third piece of the key. And If I have 12 words to both of them, they could collude against me and take it all. This way, they have to wait til I die before they can rummage through my belongings.

Funny as it may sound, the truth is that if many die, their asset will be gone and not transferred, this is because the first rule about wallet is keeping it safe and not disclosing it to a third party. It might surprise you that the one person who knows it might not be careful using your private keys, so, many people will only give out their private keys when they know they are about to die.

Well, if I die tomorrow, there in nothing I won't worry about, yes, I don't have much holdings of Bitcoin, and my wife knows my passwords so it is fine, aside from that I do have insurance so that will secure them, I also have some sort of savings, at least they will not worry too much and have small business for my wife to take care of too, if I die tomorrow, I may not as rich as I would like to be, but at least I gave security to my wife and kids that they won't worry too much for their daily life.

Knowing the password and your private keys by our love ones like what OP had mentioned is the first step we need to do, for our cryptocurrency not go to waste. However, the whole point of what OP posted is that we need to be more broad and considerate by doing that, in short, we have to teach them how to use it properly for them to take all the benefits from cryptocurrency in the long run.

By just knowing your passwords and private keys, it will just took a week or even a day (worst case scenario) and they already sold it all, the coins you hold for a very long time, in a very cheap price.

There is an option to make crypto-weighing. Only there are problems, as a rule a will is on average, or even at an older age. And if this happened at a young age and this is an accident. Then all the savings remain on the wallets. There is also data on thousands of bitcoin wallets. I do not say the owners have died. There is a fact about wallets with currency, and that it will remain so.

Wow, you think so far ... I salute you

okay, first of course we never tell our privacy in the crypto world to people close to us including our own families. so, everything in the crypto world, they don't know. the first point shows that after we die, our assets in the crypto market remain intact, unless someone can open them.

then if we are given the opportunity before we really die to say the last message to the family, consider it as inheritance and leave all these assets to the family. even more difficult if our family does not know how to use or enter the crypto market  ;D

clear, our assets will remain safe

I have filled each site with email and password. So it will not be too complicated for my heir if I have already left this world. Even though they don't understand crypto, at least they will just have to ask questions because my friend is also in the same field as me.

And of course the answer is the coins will be lost forever since the owner of said bitcoin or altcoin is dead and only he/she can only access it this is why you should secure your bitcoins just in case that your fate is already sealed what i mean sealed is you are dying from illness

That is the right step, we really should like that tell our families that we have valuable assets
on a smartphone or laptop so that if we die then our family can take our assets. I personally have also told my family about the Crypto assets that I have.
It is like if we have gold or diamond or any other valuable, what will be we doing with it? Obviously, share it with our family members. Similarly, digital assets should also be shared with them. After all, they are the people whom we struggle for and earn money. They deserve to know about our owning. There are people in history who buried assets somewhere and died. No one has discovered them yet. Same is the case with digital assets.

This is something that people should address, because we can never be sure of our lives, if we are investing and hodling Cryptocurrency, it is just right that we know how to transfer this to our heirs, like we transfer our properties and cash to our heirs, we can create a documents that will detail everything about our inheritances, a video can help and of course you need a ledger to to keep your coins.

I have been thinking about this for some time, while I do not have enough coins to consider myself wealthy in any way, in the case something happened to me I would like that my family can get my money, but I have not decided for the appropriate method to do so since I do not think it is a good idea to share that information in your will since your lawyer could always steal your coins from you if he happens to read carefully what it is written there.

This is actually an interesting question as it delves deep into the usage of cryptocurrencies as an inheritance asset. Although the problem with it is that, no company/organization has created such institution wherein it considers the inheritance aspect when the owner dies leaving his/her valuable BTCs (or any cryptocurrencies) remain at his/her private wallet.

I think the best solution would be to inform your relatives or loved-ones about your private wallet and try to teach them the basics of everything. Always be ready with a contingency plan!

Like what I recommended above, it is advisable that you tell your close relatives or immediate family about the existence of your private wallet and the funds inside it. Anything can happen at the spur of the moment and leaving your precious assets without anyone owning it would be a total waste.

That is true. If the information of bitcoin and altcoins is not shared with anyone by the owner before his death, that asset will be lost. It is similar to what happens in real world with physical assets. If I have a huge amount of gold which no one knows about and I have buried it at a place which only I know, after my death that will be lost because one even knew it was there at the first place.

yes both are similar cases, not telling about your assets will be useless if you die, but i think that the crypto users are wise enough to deal with this problem, they must write the passwords of their wallets in their personal diaries and also it is very rare cases that only one member of the family know about the crypto, usually in a family atleast two or three persons must know about it, so i think it is not a big problem for majority.

i ever think about it. when we die, no one can access our asset and its really harmful for our family, maybe we give it to them little by little but if we die it will be useful for them.
for me, tell about bitcoin to your family or close friend (trustful) is great. tell them how to access, transfer, trade it, all of basic about it. so when something happen, our asset still useful for our family

This is a crucial question to be honest. I wouldn't think to die though, like you ask.. I would like my cryptocurrency to be with my partner though we trust eachother and have access to my private key . This is the best thing to do . I use to ask the same question that how would your cryptocurrency assets end if you die. Unfortunately I won't want to keep my assets to third party.

I hope i will not die tomorrow because I want to earn more in crypto and help some funds from my brother in school and I have more bills need to pay.
But we cannot tell yet on what happen on us tomorrow or another day, So we must be ready for that or where to send our holdings in crypto or else teach them how to earn in crypto so they can get money while i'm not in this world.

And for me I send to my family and its a big help for them. And I hope they remember me when I'm gone in this world ;D

If you died tomorrow without disclosing or writing down your wallet information to any of your family members you died with your coins. Without a login password to your wallet or private key, no one will have access to your bitcoins or altcoins. thus, it is very important to keep your wallet information somewhere people can find if you die without notice.

And this question was very actual in 2017, not now, when everything is too dumped. Hope this will change in 2020...

You are lucky to have someone which you can share that information and be completely sure he is not going to steal your money, but for the rest of us we have no option but to try other ways to give our coins in a secure way to our family members in the case something happened to us, I still not have figured out a way to do this but I am sure in the future services could appear that will help us with this and if this is not the case I know that in the future the community will help us to figure out a solution to this.

This could be a good problem for big investor. For me I will set up a family member as a nominee. Then I will write down all steps how to open or how to use even will write authentication code if exchange used. Then all I will put in bank account, this is the plan to me.
Have you done it now? this indeed becomes a dilemma, if we do not write a will to someone in order to access our wallet. this also can erode little by little the supply of bitcoin in the market later. I think we should prepare it immediately so that our assets do not stop
Some people are so selfish that they will rather allow their money to wroth in the wallet or bank than allow anyone to gain access to it even while they are gone, especially the younger ones that have not married or start having children, because if not, at every stage of one's life, one should have a next of kin, and the next of kin should be the one to have access to the cryptocurrency money.

In cryptocurrency, naming next of kin is really not enough because they might not know since nobody will inform them unlike banks that will call, no one controls cryptocurrency which makes it very important that one should do a will down so that the lawyers can read the will to the next of kin in order to have all the detail needed to access the wallet.

it reminds me how important it is to make special records for people we trust who will manage all the assets we have after we die. After this I will prepare everything, even this account will become one inheritance as well and continue to become a bounty hunter. safehaven can be an option as a legacy platform, just using safehaven can all be done easily and falls to the right person.

That's sad to hear, you don't have even siblings that you can trust with your fund too? As per me, I managed to share my credentials to my daughter, as my wife can't fully understand technology, he just know how to browse internet, liking facebook status, but when you say searching things out, she doesn't know well even turning on of our computer unlike my daughter who at young age wanted to learn trading.

One of the largest advantages of a crypto wallet while you’re still alive is that no one can get into it. This isn’t so great once you’re dead.

To get into a crypto account, you’ll need a private key. A private key is an unchangeable password, which is generated when you create a new cryptocurrency wallet. Each wallet uses a string of random characters called a public key visible to anyone, as an address for sending and receiving the cryptocurrency. A separate private key allows the owner access to the wallet’s contents.

So, the process should be simple after you die – just make sure that someone gets a copy of the private key. In practice it’s simple, but it isn’t always safe or viable.

I guess you could cut up your password and put it in separate trusts, numbering the parts. Though, make sure each person knows about this plan to stop it from getting too complicated.

I believe that the best solution in this situation is a hardware wallet, because there are 12 words that can restore access, you just need to give the words to the person who will gain access to your funds in case of your death. But this person really needs to be reliable, because he can restore access before your death and steal all your savings)

In as much as I detest involving third parties with my crypto holdings, the point here is that when you are gone and nobody knows your private key or mnemonic phrase or keystore, automatically your crypto holdings are lost forever. The project mentioned "safe haven" has a unique aim, even though I doubt if anyone has actually used their platform for this purpose (personally I'm skeptical too).

With the way I set mine up, if anything were to happen to me, my wife would be able to access all my funds and if anything were to happen to her simultaneously, then I guess it would just stay dormant in my wallet, thanks very much, I would take a look at Safe Haven and see if it's a viable option, it's amazing to see how far Cryptocurrency has come, I am sure that if a project like this existed and they deliver on their promises, so many bitcoin wouldn't have been lost.

Sometimes I still think about actions like this, if we have given important data now to people we trust, can they provide guarantees for it? Then what do you mean by the person you trust is your family or your friends? I prefer to give it in the form of objects that can only be opened when I have died.

Why not instruct your loved ones to use it? Since withdrawing money from the market usually does not take much time and only requires a little knowledge, they can do it. I never trust others so I will never guide them because the risk is too great and if they are greedy, they will definitely take all your assets. In my opinion you should guide your parents right now or make a detailed video tutorial for them to understand.

This is an extraordinary question, very unthinkable before because it is too preoccupied with crypto and all of its games. And the thing that you are asking about does indeed happen in essence there isn't any human being who can live forever. Ok, then what about crypto assets if we die later on?
In this case I strongly agree with your suggestion:

2) Along with the will, teach the closest person in your life how to access your funds. Whether this is your significant other, family member, or really close friend, make sure someone understands how to access a wallet and transfer/sell the funds. Just like how you should be researching projects before you invest in it, make sure you choose who you share your secrets with carefully.

The point is we make money by investing with crypto is to generate profits that later for who else if not the people closest to us, I strongly agree to introduce, teach, and socialize about crypto to those closest to us. And if we die later, those closest to us such as wives, siblings, children because they already know about crypto surely they will not be confused to save or secure and utilize our assets that have been left dead. At least we have ever made a letter or note containing official data relating to crypto. Except for those who are involved in crypto, but so far they don't have a reliable asset.

This is not a new topic, people discussed the same thing before. I learned about that years ago, you need to have private keys
if you wish to own coins. What will happen with private keys when I die? Well in that case my wife will take external hard drive and
there she will find a folder with private keys.
I'm thinking to write them all in a notebook and to have private keys on two places, just in case! You never know what can happen
it's on us to keep private keys safe.

My wealth in crypto is not as great as that of others and I have a small amount of different coins which I hope will increase in price as time goes by. So I figured out the way in case I ever leave this world, my cousin already knows my private keys and other important things left in crypto and the cyber world. And when I lose my only cousin's job is to open the box where private keys, passwords and more are written on paper, as well as my important documents and who will be given a part of my wealth.

You have to make an agreement where your cousin gets 20% of shares, etc. If not, then he can do things that are not appropriate, this must be done if indeed your coins succeed with altseason with a fantastic increase, sometimes we don't must trust anyone outside our small family. I am also worried about matters relating to crypto inheritance, but agreements must be made clearly if it must involve others, if necessary with a religious agreement.

by providing a key wallet to a trusted person, then the amount of supply of coins on the market will not be reduced. this will be a problem if the supply of coins is limited, of course it will inflate the price if there is over demand. and it could be that the supply will run out if more and more coins become treasures

You should at least trust your family and friends too, in times of need whether good or bad for sure they will be the one who will help you, so I don't have any reason at all to not trust them, in fact everything that I am doing is for them, every knowledge that I have, little by little I am sharing it to my friends and siblings as I want them to be part of cyrpto success too and for them to be able to have good source of income too.

How come you can give your data when you die tomorrow before giving now? did you think when you die some thing bad happen to you and have chance to give your bitcoin wallet account to your family? before some thing bad happen with you better give your important data of bitcoin wallet with your trusted friend or family, give all wallet for them.
I believe you misunderstand the above guy because what he said is that there are several people which is already aware of his password and where he kept is private information not that he's going to give the information out when something bad happen which he may not have the chance to do so.
Nevertheless, I don't support the part of giving out your wallet information to friend where you can actually give to someone within your family.

The down side of crypto is that there is no way to recover coins if you lose keys or lose the person. Best thing to keep your investment alive after your death is to pass keys/passwords to your next of kin asap. Everyone on this forums should spread this to create awareness.

You have to be advanced in order to do this, in short, always expect that you are not going to wake up tomorrow and do have a family meeting regarding about this will of yours, to pass your knowledge and private keys to your family, what I mean of family is your wide, and kids, not your other relative that could only act like they care but their plan is to steal it from your real family.

Sometimes I still think about actions like this, if we have given important data now to people we trust, can they provide guarantees for it? Then what do you mean by the person you trust is your family or your friends? I prefer to give it in the form of objects that can only be opened when I have died.
No one is going to give you a guarantee about saving your coins so don’t give your information about your crypto to anyone. People now a day do not trustworthy so abstain sharing your KYC with anyone. Everyone is going to die one day so yeah it’s important to have someone who can take your coins after your death but better trust only your close ones.

Death can come at any time, my sister also knows crypto, and we use one PC so there are no secrets, I give all the information to my sister so that if I die tomorrow or now then my crypto is not lost.

Before you die better give your bitcoin account to your trusted family or friend, we don't know some thing bad happen to us because every time we faced with big risk, we have give bitcoin account to trusted family and ask him to keep and safe our data without hacked by other people, you will disappointed without give to your family because when you die your bitcoin keep on your wallet forever.

That's why we should always share our information with our partners and it will help them to protect the coins after our death. We should always educate one of the people in our family so that we are not going to lose anything, that's why I am educating my wife what every the coin I hold in the wallets.

this is like the saying, available umbrella before it rains.
so I mean, before I joined the crypto industry, I learned about blokchain technology, including the basics for accessing the crypto wallet. on the other hand I began to teach these basic things to my brother. I trusted them, so that if death came to pick me up, I would not worry about losing assets in my wallet.

very interesting question on this topic, some people have not realized that when death fetches their assets will disappear,
this is like the news that I have read before, when people have large amounts of bitcoin then that person dies finally no one knows his private key and finally missing,
this is a lesson of course and I'm glad this topic was discussed

I have taken the backups of my Bitcoin wallet, but I haven't shared them with anyone. No one in my family understands the concept of cryptocurrency and there is no one among my friend circle whom I could trust 100%. I guess it is better to keep it that way. If I share my backup with someone, then there is always a chance that my wallet will get hacked and coins will get stolen.

Sometimes we don't think about it and it can happen to us anytime. And I personally agree with the second option that you provide to teach people closest to me about what cryptocurrency is and how to access and do various things in cryptocurrency because for me if we only leave notes in a will but the people closest to us do not understand what cryptocurrency is and how to access it, it will only be in vain.

That is a very sensitive topic as not many people actually see themselves dying anytime soon. But it is good to take necessary precautions as it will give your close family additional funds to handle your burial with. Safe haven is a cool project for this. As for me, I will leave clues and instructions that my family can find which will lead them to my crypto assets

We all share our secrets with someone, so why not sharing our keys with those people too. Lost of key is equal to murder of coin. These assets are very precious and a good planning should be done regarding them, which must cover all scenarios. The developers need to take this problem into account too. So far, only the customers are making efforts in this regard. I am pretty sure they can come up with a better solution.

That is probably a good idea, creating a video they can use to claim your coins seems to be a good option especially if you tell them they should not watch the video until something happens to you, the disadvantage is that this solution will not last long as the technology is always improving and the video formats change so if you record your message now and you do not update it after a few decades it could be possible there will not device available that could play your video.

Yeah, it's a sensitive subject. We cant know for sure what will happen to us tomorrow and therefore this is a very topical issue now. It will be very disappointing if in the event of any tragedy your family will be left without the means to exist simply because they dont know how to use this money.

This topic is very sad, and I do not even want to think about death. Young people do not have time to think about this problem, because they are constantly busy, not even all older people think about it without feeling their age, because the soul does not age. Although you need to be pragmatic and take care of everything in advance. I have such a person who brought me to the crypto world and knows all my crypto data.

But, we have seen many cases where the brothers robbed and broke away for property, so could you really trust your brother? Won´t your brother exchange you for a property? Cryptocurrencies should be automatically transfered to brother´s wallet after some time of inactivity, like 1 year. That will solve many problems in your fraternal relationship.

If anything young people should be the ones that pay even more attention to this, old people being aware of their mortality take precautions about this kind of thing, but as you say those that are young never think about it because they think they have a lot of time before they have to struggle with those difficult questions, and if something happens to them then they are not prepared and it is always important to be ready to leave your assets to your loved ones no matter how small those assets could be.

You raised a very important topic.  During life, a person thinks little about cryptocurrency inheritance.  I am interested.  A limited amount of BTC will be issued.  What will happen to the coins that, due to the death of the owner of the wallet, will be permanently lost?  Many lose their keys to wallets.  Time will pass and the number of lost BTC will increase.
Regarding SAFE HAVEN, you need to analyze what conditions they offer.

I am sure there are some crypto users who have left their investment assets without giving a copy of the private key to the person they trust so that the money invested just disappears because no one knows the privacy key they have. indeed it is highly recommended to write a will about investing in crypto to be given to the most trusted family members so that the money we invest can be made as an inheritance by the beneficiary that we have chosen before death approaches us

This is very unfortunate, because there are many early adopters that probably never told their family about what they were doing on the Internet and how many bitcoins they had, so it is very likely that in the case something happened to them their family members will have no way to recover those coins and that is a real tragedy because even if at that point you cannot enjoy those coins I'm pretty sure that you will like for your family to do it and they will be unable to do so.

I think those who wish to do the cryptocurrency will should try as much as possible to avoid letting this into the hand of third-parties. I would prefer having my cryptocurrency automatically transferred to my family once it's certain that I am dead. Peer-to-peer transaction is a very important ideal of cryptocurrency.

totally agree.

me personally . I have a map attached to my will and testament to a location where i buried my keys and all details to obtain my laughable "not a lot" amount of crypto. It might not make them wealthy but i think the family doing the treasure hunt together could be fun .A way to not be so sad during the mourning process. The map looks like an old pirates treasure map. With clues and the whole pirate themed experience

Moving away from that, if I am incapiatated today, I won't worry much because my wife knows about all my crypto dealing as I have most of my recovery phrases and private keys hidden away in my diary

If anything should ever happen, I think it will be the end of all my crypto assets. I remember when my phone had serious issue unexpectedly that I can't even operate on it for a second. Which the only solution then is to get my phone formatted. I lost all my crypto assets as a newbie cos I didn't write down my private keys. In other words death can come unexpectedly when we lest expect. Telling our close friend or family about our private keys will help, things can go wrong within a second when we lest expect

I am not going to give away my hard-earned tokens to someone, to be honest. Instead of choosing random people, or someone who has giant technology information with quantum power can hack my system, I will give the private key written paper to my wife.

I took  a shower and gave this Safe Haven a second thought....

Not your keys = not your bitcoin

Let me present a situation.

I tell my family don't worry if something happens to me contact Safe Haven or whatever their process is. So i have been storing all my BTC with Safe Haven and even doubling down for years. 10 years pass and i pass. My family goes to collect from Safe Haven only to find out they did an exit or got hacked and your keys have been gone for years.. Your family did not just lose you they lost the security you had planned for them. You could have bought life insurance . I have no problems with Safe Haven project. I just think its a risk not needed

My short answer HECK NO

Teach your loved ones about Crypto. Teach them how to take it over after you go to the big blockchain in the SKY

if that means everyone thinks that a quantum computer can hack a wallet easily?
this will be a serious problem for the cryptocurrency, if that happens the cryptocurrency will not be as attractive now, it might die

When we die of course we will lose all of our assets in cryptocurrency and I personally haven't thought about things to teach people closest to me about cryptocurrency and how it is cryptocurrency, sometimes I also think about things to teach my closest people to understand about cryptocurrency but for now I have not taught it because I once told him about this and he was not interested.

maybe all of my assets will be lost, because until now I have not notified someone of my wallet key. therefore I am looking for someone who I can inherit my assets, of course the person is from my immediate family, so that the assets that I have can still be able to improve the family economy
