Post by: peterson00011122 on October 21, 2019, 08:22:40 AM
Hello. I would like you to delete my account from the site. For personal reasons, I do not want to keep my account any longer. By law on personal data, I have the right to request the deletion of the account and all posts in the forum. Thanks in advance!

Here is an post about bitcointalk account deletation.  You can check this. Hope you will be clear.
Deleting accounts doesn't mess up any threads, like this thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=15911.0). It just changes to anonymous, with no profile information. Post stays intact.

As you can see here, I only change the username to "Anonymous" on request.

The pharmacist said here about the issue

Are you getting too paranoid here or what?

Anyhow, this question has been asked before, and apparently the answer is that the only thing you can do is delete all your posts yourself and change your password to something so complicated that no one is ever going to crack it--and then just walk away.  Mods aren't going to help you here.

Edit:  Just FYI I'm pro-vaccination.

hilariousandco's opinion

It's not possible. Just abandon it.

All of the users have anonymous usernames are very old users. I think Theymos no longer accept such requests.
Here is the forum rule regarding changing the username:

Q: I want to change my forum username. What should I do?
A: You can either donate 50 BTC to become a VIP (https://bitcointalk.org/donate.html) or PM theymos asking to change your username (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=pm;sa=send;u=35) (although he rarely accepts such requests nowadays).

On top of that, there's the About privacy (https://bitcointalk.org/privacy.php) page, in which, under the first table regarding retention, you will clearly see "You cannot delete your account."

Also, the forum is under US jurisdiction, not EU jurisdiction. Under US law, there is no GDPR (the law on personal data).

However, it seems that the account will more likely be banned rather than deleted...

By law on personal data, I have the right to request the deletion of the account and all posts in the forum.

Good luck with that. Theymos' position towards the GDPR is quite clear:

Quote from: theymos
I intend to ignore all stupidity coming out of the EUSSR.

(I can't quote directly to the post, so it's here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1902503.msg18991383#msg18991383)).

Also, the forum is under US jurisdiction, not EU jurisdiction. Under US law, there is no GDPR (the law on personal data).
The GDPR is "global" and in the same way the US has countries around the world cooperate with them due to treaties, the US does as well for other countries and organizations etc.

Having said that,
1. He has to be a EU resident and would need to prove that first before I would do anything.
2. Scrap #1 because as far as I know, this forum does not "target" any one but instead they find it all on their own. And so, GDPR probably doesn't apply
3. Scrap #1 because, unless he did business with the forum, I doubt GDPR would apply either.

Also, even IF Theymos decided to attempt to adhere, companies are allowed to retain information for some length of time. I'm sure the argument could be made that, in the OPs case since he carried out business on the forum, the info needs to be retained for X years in case law enforcement came a calling and/or for liability reasons.

The problem with GDPR is that there's going to need to be a lot of different legal cases before everyone really knows what the hell they need to do because it's crap.

it is too late for you since you attracted everyone's attention and now people have copied all your posts.  Note to all the people that pointed out OP is not going to be able get the account deleted. You posted clear information for the next scammer on how to get rid of info on his or hers post.
