Title: Opinions on XRP for long term investment (BEGINNER)
Post by: jesse florian on October 25, 2019, 07:55:14 AM
I am going to invest $150 (Canadian) into some coins. My first post mentioned DigiByte, but now I'm curious about XRP upon research and considering that it's within the top 10 coins I think makes it safe. Considering that I'm a COMPLETE noob and venturing this at 18, I started with $100 but felt an extra $50 would not hurt but that's the max I'm going. I'm very well aware of the risks and know I could lose my money which is why $150 is my max because losing won't hurt me. I'm not investing to make a quick buck, I'm just extremely curious in this market.

I've been following XRP for the last week and the price value has gone up by 3.05%, I'm curious whether people wait or buy straight away while the price has gone up (considering its the 3rd ranked coin). Also wondering if this is a coin for long term investment. I still have a lot to learn before considering investment, but I do not want to wait too long in case the value goes up. I don't even know how to buy a coin... apart from that, I'm curious if anybody has more information that will be useful for my final decisions.

Individual traders/investors have different approach when it comes to buying a coin. XRP has been around for quite a while now and if you check their social media activities/news, you can see that they have been very active. You'll have to read more about XRP for you to determine whether it's a long term investment for you.

Find a reputable exchange like Binance or register on https://shapeshift.io/ for the quick buying on XRP but you should have a safe wallet when you are storing your XRP. I still don't trust this coin since they are centralized ones. Who knows there's someone now manipulating the price. Well, I saw there is a potential on this coin but not in the long term.

My top favorite coins right now as far as "Cheap Coins" would be XRP, TRX, an Link. I think with any of those coins you should be able to double or tripple your money in the next few months.  I also am interested in Energi coin. It seems to be catching alot of peoples attention as well.  But If I was to invest $150 in one coin I would invest it all in TRX.   Tether is switching over to it. I see it one day replacing Ethereum! Its faster cheaper an better!

I see. There are centralized exchanges out there that are newbie friendly like Binance. There are plenty of tutorial on how to use it but be sure to use the legit website.
Code:
https://www.binance.com/en

Take your time learning and not fall into FOMO (Fear of missing out). I have nothing against XRP or other major altcoins but there is no coin worth holding for long term more than BTC.

As Far as exchanges go I like Bittrex, Binance, and Kucoin. When it comes to purchasing Bitcoin I like to use Coinbase, or Coinmamma!

First thing you do is Buy Bitcoin then you can trade it for pretty much any of decent Altcoins on any of the exchanges. Pm if you need some links!

Every people have their own opinion regarding investing on cryptocurency if you ask me if ripple (xrp) is a good investment for long term and I will say YES it has a good potential to give you a good return in future but every project have their own weakneses or negativity if your purpose is to make a good return in the future its better to make a hard research and dont based on what people say to you.

In any exchange, the OP can make purchases of the most important and safe bitcoin exchanges, if your money is still in Canadian money it is difficult to trade,

The choice of XRP is very good no. 3 at Coinamarketcap so there is no clarity to hold it, buying now is also not a problem because the current price is low.

It is a complicated matter, especially with XRP. Many believe that it is centralized and that its value is controlled. Recently, its price suddenly started to grow, which is when its parent company quite coincidentally released a huge number of coins into circulation, supposedly for an interested investor, although many assume that it was to keep the price where it was at the time.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the fact that the coin is among top 10 does not mean that it will always be there, although in the case of BTC, ETH, and XRP, it IS a pretty safe bet that they will stay up for much longer than any other crypto.

It is good that you know to invest only an amount that you are comfortable with losing completely. However, if you check out XRP's performance overtime, you might decide that it is not the best choice. Whenever a price surge comes, XPR is late to the party, it only grows a little, and when it falls, it falls to its bottom price pretty quickly. I know that you said that you aren't after a quick buck, so if the money is not that important and you are simply interested in XRP, then go for it, by all means. However, if you do wish to see returns, XRP is a bit too controversial and kind of uncertain for my taste. It could be a good long-term investment, although I leave that to you.

As for when to buy, if you plan to hold for a long period (HODL) and not trade as soon as the price changes, you can pretty much invest whenever, it doesn't make a huge difference. If, on the other hand, you want to make some profit, you buy when it is cheap, and sell when the price grows, which you have probably figured out by yourself. Alternatively, there is margin trading, but i wouldn't recommend it since you yourself said that you are still new.

In the end, the best I can recommend is to read up on XRP some more, there are plenty of articles, price forecasts that show you its past performance as well, and alike. Then make your decision.

I admire you for considering investing at a very young age. Very few people at your age look into this venture but to tell you honestly, you should still look for some coin that you could invest that max of yours because I don't see XRP is on the good term of investing now. And the coin that I'm telling you to invest with is bitcoin. If you still don't know how to buy a coin, you should take a look at Binance and it's very user-friendly and you just have to follow step by step procedure on how to pay/deposit through their accepted method.

Compared to DigiByte, XRP is relatively safe. It never moves out of top 5 cryptocurrencies and widely used by people, looking at its current price I doubt it will go lower again unless we are seeing a massive dump on Bitcoin and at the same time a massive ban from many countries.

make sure to do deeper research about everything you want to invest from regulation, development on media by starting with CoinTelegraph
https://cointelegraph.com/tags/ripple

making a decision based on what other people say is a bad move, always learn it by yourself and figure out what you are looking for.

Stick to the long term "proven" coins like BTC, LTC, ETH, XMR. Realistically, at this point, you'd probably be better off trading even if you're only doing it over a few months.

If you ask as a newbie, is the XRP coin good and suitable for long-term hold. I will answer very well, XRP one of the potential
altcoins because it is on the top of 3 coinmarketcap. And also XRP has a large enough volume and is supported by many banks
in the world, this is a plus factor for XRP. Not to mention the cheap and fast transaction fees many users use XRP as a medium
for transferring funds between exchanges. So in conclusion, please do so if you want to invest in XRP.

XRP is a good choice I think it still has a good possibility that XRP will comeback when bitcoins price goes up because XRP is a good altcoin and it has a lot of support from other investors.

The only thing I didn't like about xrp is their investors manipulative actions. I noticed how xrp used to get pumped by some whales, I see it on some exchange volume and clearly an obvious manipulations. I dont totally hate it, but for pumping purposes, I can ride this coins for just some profits. But there are lots of other coins to choose from. You can search all which is good, use CMC tools to check out good tokens, even you're budget is small shouldn't waste it on some coins there.

People are still waiting for the buy zone and you should know about you must not trust anyone else and just do your research about that. Ripple can be considered as a long term investment think on its big liquidity has been giving more guarantee to the buyers. You can visit binance and start your own journey if you are looking for the deposit amount through use bitcoin and you can exchange your money to the some trusted service.

Shorting is a significant risk decision. Remember about the growth of altcoin depends on the bitcoin and you should analyze the bitcoin market before you wanna try to join in this market. In this case, you can start to learn about trading and try to take some indicators just like RSI as your consideration to determine where is the correct place to consider that as a buy zone.

This is an essential thing when you are wanna investing in the cryptocurrency.

I personally believe the future holds even greater things for XRP. they seem to have a clear vision of what their coin is and how to further increase its adoption within the financial space wherein they exist. Getting banks and other financial institutions to utilise their project is also a point of attraction for investors and therefore proves to be a better investment plan.take advantage of it

The foundation for XRP can tell that it is a good investment for future stake since first it was back by bank which gave's it a huge impact on it's natural ecosystem. But seriously guys even if we look on it as strong we should keep in our mind to put a safety net especially with our mind investment and we should learn how or when to stop and accumulate the gains since by holding for decades will possibly cause a huge loss.

XRP is a coin that is loved by many banks in developing countries such as JP Morgan, the purpose of XRP is sending money between countries and there are many people using XRP. I think XRP is one of the best investments.
In terms of technical analysis I see the predictions of crypto coin expert XRP he said will make a new ATH you can see here

Base in xrp's potential then for me this is good for an investment like the developer or team behind this can handle this even the crypto's market drops a lot like they still have many ways to develop this so that's why this grow then more another thing this is like fiat currency like xrp is related to bank business so this turn trusted and popular by this or like now
XRP is indeed a good investment.
Even after facing a serious controversy recently they still able to hold their position as top and popular altcoin in the market. Though, there are some investors that pulled-out their investment, we can still see a lot of investors stay at XRP.

Personally, I would stay well clear of XRP while it remains under scrutiny as a potential unregistered security.

Sure it has generated ridiculous returns in the past, and does have incredible potential as an interbank clearing currency. However, none of this potential will be realized until concerns that it might be a security are cleared up.

No major bank or institution is going to want to work with what could be an unlicensed security.

Think about it, these types of people wont even trade unregulated markets, hence why they're waiting for a Bitcoin ETF!

STAY AWAY, or risk losing all your cash. But expect a huge price jump if XRP is cleared of being a security.

being 18 i think still be a good age to start thinking of making money out of crypto, you are lucky to have started today than doing it while you are 25. XRP is good. its the only coin i find very creepy that it stick itself on top while i know nothing about lol but sure almost all exchanges are adding it. you are in the right time as well since crypto has finally been stabilizing since the ling winter season. since you are in the long term investment, you might find it better to buy the cheap ones. cheaper than XRP but are also on top of the rank.

It is a good decision to start trading at an early age. He can learn a lot since an 18-year-old has broad thinking which is easy for them to understand when they have their interest in it. XRP is a good altcoin even if it is a centralized coin, if he can follow the flow of the market, he can make good earnings.

Your choice for investing in XRP is really a good thing.
I won't say that's its a good coin simply because it has been listed among the top but because it has been striving for years now. Coins like that can stay long term.
Saw from the above discussion that you don't have an exchange yet, many suggested Binance. It is a good exchange.
But please do not leave your coin in the exchange (infact in any exchange). Find a way to secure it offline.

DGB and XRP have their own interests. XRP is more trusted and it is safer as it is the top 3 coin in the CMC. It has big volume every 24 hours and of course, if you are going to be a trader, this coin is really amazing for daily trading. But, it commonly doesn't have a high increase as the other coins do.
If you are willing to make bigger profits for investment, I think that Digibyte is better.

I'm not a fan of XRP so I would suggest to you to look for other cryptocurrencies in the market. There is a lot of cryptocurrency in the market that is even better than XRP. Bitcoin is one of the best cryptocurrency to invest in, it pumps from below 8k to above 9k usd in just a few days so I think that is what you should consider in terms of investing so you can grow your capital faster.

I'm not an advisor or some kind like that. But, I think your choice for XRP is good. Apart from the fact that XRP is among the top 5 Coinmarketcap, it also has the potential to become even bigger in the long run. If you want to feel the benefits, I think you should take the long-term method. Because you have stated that you will not hurt when your money is lost. Most importantly you have done a series of research, belief in your choices.

You don't need to worry about price growth that happens with XRP and don't have to look at prices every 5 minutes. You just need to calm down and let your money work by itself. XRP has very good potential in the future, both in terms of development and technically he has. All you have to do is not just observe the price on the market, but follow the news that they spread regularly because it can be important news that greatly affects your assets. You don't need to worry if one day your assets have decreased 3% within 1 week, it is a natural thing, the market has its own way of manipulating our minds. So you need to be patient, because it can go up as much as 14% in the next week according to the good news they have.

xrp is good enough to invest because the trust they have now is big enough, plus I see an opportunity if you invest in the near future because it looks like the pump trend has started, I hope this is a pump trend and not back to the down trend

If you intend to buy XRP, it would be good to let it fall and buy when down. XRP is a good coin for day trading as it has lower fees and faster transactions as compared to other popular coins. Though it once rose above $1.25, it's highly unlikely for it to achieve that anytime soon. Buying below 25 cents and selling above 30 would be a good strategy at the moment.

XRP can move to the right track if they progress well on their platform. Ive been watching the chart for xrp and clearly it will surpass eth sooner if eth doesn't improve well. So I guess youre budget for investment is well suited for XRP considering its price is still low.

Ive bagged some xrp already. If bull run arrive only these three coins will progress, btc, eth and xrp.
Bitcoin is moving now and with that those solid projects in terms of fiat are also gaining goo value, it's not that hard to entrust your fiat investment with crypto coins that have good support from communities, being the 3rd crytpo from CMC makes this project got a good chance to bring huge value in terms of fiat conversions. XRP for long term investment, xrp price are regular not much drastical change and a can say its xrp more likely stable. But if btc had a huge pump xrp can also get a gain. As it is now, when BTC experienced a drastic increase of 30% in 24 hours, XRP also experienced a 10% increase in effect.
xrp is good enough for investment, usually they get more profit when btc is in a pump trend like you said. so I think xrp can indeed be a good investment reference, with prices that are still affordable and price movements that I say are interesting

Firstly, I like OP mindset and orientation. Good for you to know the inherent risk involved in your decision to invest in cryptos. Though with a small capital, I would rather invest in a promising low cap coin (riskier though). But it's also a good idea (less risk) to invest in big cap coins like xrp.

Yeah, XRP is worth to invest with your money. XRP did good job for years and compete with top altcoins out there. Actually it's a must invest altcoin these days. Bank support for cryptocurrency is very unique. So when XRP is created, it's very unimaginable. And now XRP is one of the major Coins. Also it has the best scalability when it come transactions among the other major coins. It has its ups and downs but still survive. So for me it a must have coin.

XRP in itself has a great potential in the fintech space and has already started to gain grounds by aligning with financial institutions to get them to become adopters of the XRP project all in the guise of enabling an easier, safer and immutable transaction void of trust by both parties involved. That had given the XRP more step ahead of its peers and that I can say is a point to consider when an investor wants to invest, but more important is an investor's research. So, also do your own research.

XRP/Ripple is centralised. It's against Bitcoin's and other coins mission and vision. Why would you like to invest in a coin that is basically managed by others? Even Ripple, the company itself is selling their coins all the time when there is a slight bull on the price of Ripple. The most trustable investment from fiat to cryptocurrencies (in my opinion, that is) is just Bitcoin and Ethereum for the time being and potentially, forever.

Coin XRP is one of the coins that is bail for long-term investments, because given the price of XRP at the end of the year 2017 ever climbed to $3.5, I think the price of XRP would go up again. If you buy now also good if you're playing long-term investments.

Not bad for long term investments, traders and holders would simply have that mindset xrp will reach a promising value. With patience and dedication on the method of growing our holdings, we can sustain once we're doing it practically. Xrp price will increase at smaller percentage everyday, you won't notice someday it has achieved the best selling price.

Seeking for opinions to the others here and also to those persons who have a enough experience on investing for long term is the best idea you've done. For now I also suggest to invest in xrp because xrp is a good ripple in which it may stable sometimes but if it pumps up then it would be huge and the graph of the xrp is like following the graph of bitcoin and ethereum, and xrp is one of the top 3 currencies so better if you will invest here.

Very good attitude - if you're interested in the market and have seen a few coins you're willing to spend time on, the best way of actually doing this is investing (a little) in them. XRP might be controversial, but as a counterweight to BTC etc. it's definintely worth a look. ROI-wise it's all hard to predict as the valuations in these markets still depend on speculation to 95%, but it makes sense to place a few bets on projects that you feel are *actually* solving a problem.

Ripple (XRP) is much better if set as a long term investment rather than on a short term. It is one of the consistently top altcoins. It has been ranked third over all for a long time. In fact, it has snatched away the second rank from Ethereum several times. If you buy XRP, you must be ready for a longer HODLing period. Do not buy XRP if you want a quick gain. HODL XRP until it reaches around 2$. That is very possible. The stronger bull run will give that to XRP.

You would not be saying this if you have invested into ripple during the last quarter of 2017 as it reached over $3 then straight away reduced to under 50 cents due to the increased supply and bearish market,  since then it has not reach $1. It's not about what people feel it's about the fact and reviews from those who had already invested. Ripple is a good coin for short term investment during bullrun but not sure about long term.

Patience will be tested when you use this coin for your investment, XRP which been around for some time already gave decent benefits to those investors who entrust their money with this project. XRP being inside the top 10 inside CMC are workable in  long term investment process, since value also rising when Bitcoin having it's rally you can hold some XRP and wait for the price to rise back till it reached the last time high or better if it's much higher and meet new ATH.

Buying when prices go up is one wrong concept. When prices go down it's a good start to start, with the crypto market where there is a dump there must be a pump, both of them alternating. As a trader or investment you have to know what the floor value is and how much the month is worth.

XRP is a coin that is widely discussed beside btc, eth, bnb and USDT. So the XRP market has a controversial market, as a form of investment I recommend always watching that market.

3% increase for crypto is not uncommon, minimum increase of crypto 30% and above as happened in bitcoin a few days ago,
if the market is bullish, any coins you buy provided that the top 10 rankings in the CMC will have good potential for the future,
so don't wait long if you really want to invest, XRP is the right choice of many cryptocurrency that has good potential for long-term investment.

XRP is one of the cryptos in the market having good reputation for long term investment. I am actually holding a little amount of it along with other cryptos but I have no plans of letting go of it right now despite of the market situation. I do believe that it would be able to recover someday. Some are not into ripple but in my opinion, if we are talking about long term investments, it should be on the list of options despite of the contriversies it is facing with regards to decentralization.

I think it is much worth it if you invest in XRP because it is cheaper and it is worth to invest your money to it in a long term because it has a potential to have a better value in the near future. Honestly, i also hold a small amount of XRP in my wallet and other altcoins like ETH, BCH, BNB and other coins that are worth to hold because it could go to the moon some day or next year.

The truth is that majority of these coin still relies on bitcoin to increase and I think without bitcoin gaining full strength of bull run, we just should not expect anything from these coins like ripple to reach that value, which I think it is a dream that may never come true, the last time ripple reached $4 was because altcoins market was new to bull run then, which their bull run was artificially created, and the ignorance of people made them to start pumping money into altcoins, including project that are even not trust worthy, but ever since people have been wise about altcoins now, do you see much people pump money into altcoin market except bitcoin? and if bitcoin rise is to affect coin like ripple, it will only be climbing by little percentage which makes me conclude that before ripple can get to $3.5, it will need bitcoin to reach like $100k.

The only advice I can give you right now is that if you have to ask for opinions about projects to invest in on Bitcointalk forum from a bunch of strangers, then you want to lose your money, as an investor, one of the first things you have to learn is how to DYOR and I know it's not the shortcut everybody is looking for, but it produces positive results.

If you want to invest in XRP with long term, it's a very precise choice. Given that XRP never rose its price to $2.5 at the end of 2017, I suppose if long-term investments in XRP are very suitable.

Isn't that it doesn't wanted to rise but the price is affected also by demand and market cap. The supply of xrp is no doubt so huge. Seeing it at 1$ is already a good deal, maybe if they can be listed to every market like btc then they can caught up well with price. But yeah, if there is a good altcoin to buy now is xrp cause it is stable and slowly rising.

That is a good choice especially that you are still a newbie, investing in top 5 is the safest route for to lessen the risk of your investment.

150$ investment is a good start for a newbie especially that you already know the risk but what I can suggest is Eth then hold it for a long term. You can just visit your investment weekly/monthly and dispose your investment once it can hit x5 or more base on your target selling price.

If you want to quickly do the short term method. do not stick with just one coin, can choose coins with large volumes and do Scalpinng HIT and RUN. it's better, if fixed on XRP you can use the mid term and longterm methods. My friend, it is not every coin that you see at the top market that you should pay attention to, and you know that we still have people that are faking lots of volume because of the money they have to do so. Looking at ripple, I count this project amongst the projects that are faking their volume and I will really not put y complete trust in them because they could dump so hard at any time since they don’t have many people that are using them even if they have real use case.

if I were you as a beginner, I would rather prefer to just put that money into a project that I am very sure of, then once you are confidence about your first investment, then you can start gambling with every other investment and be risking your money, but as a starter, please put your investment first in bitcoin alone, because it would be a sad thing for you to lose that $150 to a project that you cannot guarantee for future which I really don’t see with xrp.

Nice choose with Ripple or XRP but you must waiting little long time with Ripple coin investing because price of ripple never have growing up suddenly, always price up slowly with take two weeks or three weeks for Ripple raise to higher price, if you want get much profit faster with $150 you can invest with ethereum or you can invest with coin have lower price under $0,1 like you invest with tron and doge coin.

If I were you, investing in the long term is not mandatory just by expecting extraordinary things from coins that are indeed the top coins in exchangers. Many coins have more active potential that can benefit you for a long time. Indeed XRP including expensive coins. Don't you see the potential for XRP price drops? speaking of rising prices for XRP is a promising hope but behind that there is a big enough risk for the sustainability of your money. Why not try TRON, low priced coins but in my opinion more potential than XRP.

I used to criticize XRP for being a centralized coin, even at that, it is one of the best coins doing so well on CMC, most especially that it is at the third position, which it has been maintaining for long and posing as a rivalry to ethereum. I also feel secured investing in it. At least, to a larger extent, it is good if one invests in it.

Xrp is a good coin, although the price is very heavy to go up. But for long-term investment, I recommend this coin.  Many people consider this coin is a bad coin for investment, because this is a coin that is planned to be made for global payment instruments.  So many predict that Xrp will not have a high price.  But for me it is not, Xrp is a good coin and also has the opportunity to be highly valued.

I can see that the XRP fanboys have unleashed a new wave of propaganda in favor of that coin. But the basics for Ripple remain as bad as ever. First of all, the handful of promoters hold close to 80% of all the XRP in existence. They have dumped some amount during the last few years, but they are unable to sell most of their coins because of the low liquidity associated with XRP. In case this coin goes up in value, then you can expect them to dump huge amounts on various exchanges. Under such circumstances, I would argue that XRP is a coin that is least suitable for long term investment.
