Title: CMC and coingecko

CMC and coingecko both very useful for us, i used to use both however i am confused why many coins and tokens not listing in CMC but listing in coingecko, not only coins and tokens but also many exchanges, is this because coingecko become more popular than CMC, or for something else.

Both are useful tools but CMC is more popular than Coingecko! Coingecko has something unique features like Exchange trust score, ICO review and many more but CMC only has token price chart, trading view and exchange rankings which also have in Coingecko! But CMC has some strong rules to get listed there where any coin/token project easily can get listed in Coingecko, that's why it has more coins listed than CMC! To me, this lot of token listing is a drawback in Coingecko!

I agree because way back 2017, almost everyday there is a new coin listed on CMC including shitcoins which I think the reason why CMC raise its standard for listing new coins. Coingecko is not new but competing with CMC's popularity is one of the possible reason why they accept new coin easily and one more thing is they want to get more traffic on their site due to the people searching for the new coin.

I access both of them to find the information of the coins that I have, and need to know for coins that are listed in the CMC list they have a special standard, because there are some coins that are not registered in CMC. so both of these sites have their respective standards

or for something else.
Coinmarket cap has certain criteria if your coin or token get listed on their site,so if any ICO failed to meet their requirement will not be available there but coingecko may have different cirteria to list.
Code:
“What is the criteria for a cryptocurrency to be listed on CoinMarketCap?

The criteria for a cryptocurrency to be listed is the following:

- Must be a cryptocurrency or a crypto token.
- Must be on a public exchange with an API that reports the last traded price and the last 24 hour trading volume.
- Must have a non-zero trading volume on at least one supported exchange so a price can be determined.
- For market cap ranking, an accurate circulating supply figure is required.

If you'd like to have a cryptocurrency listed and it meets all of the criteria, please fill out the request form

Market Cap isn't really the best thing too look out for if you are using it as basis in your trades, it's just market cap and it doesn't tell you about anything on a coin's price action. I would rather use a ticker to see what are the active movers in the market rather than just look for market cap movements. Also if your coins are not to be found in CMC I think you should consider this as a red flag that the token/crypto you are monitoring can be a shitcoin of course not counting the ones who just got launch as it will really take some time before you get listed in their website especially CMC.

It's not about popularity, it's about the requirements to be listed on Coinamarketcap.

CMC has many reqiurements that developers are unable to provide and therefore they are not welcome in the CMC. In Coingecko, the requirements are simple and even if the developer is just starting the ICO, they are welcome.

Title: Re: CMC and coingecko

Maybe the reason why coingecko has more listing because coinmarketcap is stricter to their rules before getting listed. And some of those that didn't passed that requirement on CMC, passed on coingecko. This isn't a big deal because a competitor can list as many as they want if the other side isn't listing because of their criteria that has been set. But imo, CMC is still the most popular price tracker for most of the cryptocurrencies and I think all crypto enthusiasts are aware of that.

both of these sites are very helpful for us to get information such as crypto price rates, market capitalization and another information related to the world of cryptocurrency traders, I personally am greatly helped by the existence of these two sites because I can easily check cryptocurrency prices in real time.
as long as both sites provide accurate and useful information for us, in my opinion, we don't need to compare the two sites, which is the best site.

I think coingecko gained more popularity during the time coin market cap have issues with fake tree data display on its website. So many projects prefer coingecko because of its advanced tool

Like for listing any coin I'm exchange have to follow listing rules. Coinmarketcap rules is harder than the coingecko and coinmarketcap is more popular than coingecko. After listed coinmarketcap all admin are happy. But I think problem is after listed CMC, still has chance to scam.

Both CoinMaretCap and CoinGecko have their own criteria. Some standard criteria are the same and some are different.
For more details about the different criteria, you can check the following link:

Coin Market Cap: based on two important things to be listed, listing criteria (can be seen at the link https://support.coinmarketcap.com/hc/en-us/articles/360034124351-Listings-Criteria) and also Methodology (information about Market Data and Cryptoasset Rank) which can be seen at the link https://support.coinmarketcap.com/hc/en-us/articles/360034116491-Market-Data-Cryptoasset-Rank.

For CoinGecko, you can see it at the link https://www.coingecko.com/id/methodology.

In this case, at this time the CMC might probably have more stringent and higher criteria for listing coins/tokens/ exchanges on their list.
However, both CMC and CoinGecko provide very helpful information for us all.

During this time, I personally more often use CMC to check the feasibility or list of coins/tokens/ or exchange.

CMC used to list everything, but it became a metric scammers would use for legitimacy, so they had to change their rules to make being listed harder
They made it so certain requirements like daily volume had to be met before listing of a project.
This left a hole in the market where alot of coins wanted the legitimacy, but lacked the requirements to be listed on CMC, and so sites like Coingecko were born
Its that simple really. Which is better? who knows, as long as they both have the same accurate information, who cares you know?

So its possible that coins that are not listed in CMC could be in coingecko, I now see how they can be both useful. I just use CMC all the time when checking prices in the morning just when I wake up and somehow in the middle of the day til before I sleep. This is probably the reason why CMC ask so much for advertising on his site. Damn we all help them get richer everyday.

The fact that there are more coins/tokens and exchanges on coingecko doesn't necessarily mean coingecko is more popular than CMC. It's simply because CMC has more rigid protocols before listing any coin, they have a required trading volume threshold to meet for instance. It's easier to list a coin or exchange on coingecko than CMC.

No, CMC is almost most popular one. Less tokens/coins are listed on CMC because the conditions are a bit heavier. Look at the listing criteria of CMC: https://support.coinmarketcap.com/hc/en-us/articles/360034124351-Listings-Criteria

It will be more useful to use both. There are shortcomings, such as false volumes or listing scam projects, but this may not sometimes be caused by themselves.

You are right. CMC and Coingecko are very useful and have their respective advantages that stand out. Where we know indeed to be registered in CMC, must meet the terms and conditions set, you can see it in detail here (https://support.coinmarketcap.com/hc/en-us/articles/360034124351-Listings-Criteria). CMC shows the price movements accurately, precisely, and completely from all over the world, we can also compare the exchange rates of various exchanges of a coin or token to determine trading strategies. Because of its consistency and popularity as well as its accuracy, many make CMC an indicator of the success of a project if it is already registered there.

Because they don't have the same standard. Coinmarketcap is the oldest cryptocurrency encyclopedia. And I think it's more credible than coingecko. Coinmarketcap has a higher standard like the altcoins must be on at least 4-5 Exchanges in able to list them on the platform. They only list good altcoins and they make sure that the  altcoin they list is trustable. Coingecko can be paid by the I think.

That has been my experience as well, tho I do use both sites for information.

Because they don't have the same standard.
That's probably the best answer to op's question.  One might ask why Binance is so much easier to use than an exchange with an awful gui like southxchange...and the answer is that some people know what they're doing and how to make a better website than other people.  It's a difference of standards, interest, talent, and probably a whole host of other factors.

And honestly if coingecko disappeared overnight, I'd be completely fine just using coinmarketcap from then on.  Their site has pretty much all the info I usually look for.

It is always the most popular ones which has to be the harder to get into. It is not that coingecko is more popular than CMC it is just to be listed in CMC  you need to meet some criteria.
It is unlike in the past where being listed in CMC is an ordinary thing right now everytime I see new projects being listed on CMC they are celebrating it like how they celebrate if their project can get listed by popular exchange. However CMC and coingecko is just equally good in my opinion.

Both are very useful in either coingecko or CMC. both have the same good reputation, no differences are too conspicuous, it's just that CMC is more famous and liked. People prefer CMC because it's easier and more flexible. Coins that are registered in CMC must have a value, because before that they must carry out the verification stage / there must be a condition to be fulfilled. if in Coingecko it might be easier to register coins or tokens there, in fact too many shitcoins there.

many similar platforms other than CMC or Coingecko, such as the Coinness application in my opinion are also recommendations for use.

CMC and coingecko both very useful site for investor and bounty or airdrop participants, we know with our coin worth or not by visiting CMC and  coingecko to know have listed on exchange market or not and how much our coin price. I am only active use with CMC for checking with my altcoin assets from bounties campaign have listed on CMC or not, for coingecko I used some time when not find on CMC listed.

No. CoinMarketCap is more popular compared to CoinGecko. but CoinGecko is getting popular nowadays because of the new features such as Exchange trust score and daily/weekly/monthly trading volumes. CoinMarketCap is strict on listing new coins that don't have enough trading volume and so on. For me, I started to enjoy CoinGecko these days more than CoinMarketCap, thus, every day I go to CoinGecko but I can't remember when last I visited CoinMarketCap, lol! :)

Coinmarketcap has become a reference for checking prices and token charts. CMC is more selective in entering tokens. Coingecko more tokens that enter because it's very easy to register there. Coingecko has a variety of features that are not owned by CMC such as ICO review, ICO score, Exchange Exchange and others. But still CMC is the main reference. CMC and Coingecko are very useful for checking tokens and current token prices, both of these platforms have their respective advantages.

A newly listed coin can easily list on coingecko, than  when compared to CMC. Sometimes, the coins might have listed ahead, most especially to create awareness about the token sale event. However, CMC has been in existence for a very long time, which is why they have strong rules guiding against  and for listing on their site.

I think CoinMarketCap is more useful even though Coingecko is trying to make the same platform as CoinMarketCap but currently the main point is still on CoinMarketCap, I am sure both of these platforms will compete and try to be the best because of these two platforms I can get information about the cryptocurrency that I'm looking for.

Yes both are serving a great need in this space and also the same need. The difference between the two is Coinmarketcap is hugely popular thus always overshadowing the other, but on the other hand the advantage coingecko have over Coinmarketcap is that, listing is easier. Therefore most projects finds it easy to list on coingecko thus getting more recognition and then listing on Coinmarketcap thereafter.

It's about what exchanges and volume they take into reference. For coins to be listed in coinmarketcap, it should be traded in at least two of medium sized exchange and has a good volume. Coinmarketcap also ranks exchanges. They are not only ranking coins, they have reference to many aspects of coins from their whitepaper to social links and historical data.
Coingecko is also very useful and has larger number of coins but I'm so used to CMC that I find it hassle on coingecko to find the info I'm looking for.

Coinmarketcap and coingecko may have different transaction limit terms and values in terms of listings. From what I know, coinmarketcap will start listing on its website if the average daily transaction value is at least $ 50k but there are also coins listed on coingecko that have daily transactions of more than $ 50k but not on coinmarketcap. Maybe this is related to the website policy

Some of CMC's data is also somewhat unreliable, though to be fair it's difficult to pull accurate numbers on volume and various other statistics for coins nowadays, especially when a lot of exchanges now fake volume and trading activity to get users to trade on their platforms.

It's also very possible some coins are just not listed on CMC and/or CoinGecko because the listing process on both sites seems to be somewhat long, and there needs to be a request sent to either of the sites in order for a coin to be listed. Nobody seems to have linked to this yet, but I've found CMC's exact requirements (click here for link) (https://support.coinmarketcap.com/hc/en-us/articles/360034124351-Listings-Criteria) for a coin or an exchange to be listed on the site.

I think a lot of people see the price of coins / tokens more precisely in Coinmarketcap, this very popular token chart has been widely used by traders to see prices, but sometimes many say that Coinmarketcap has a lot of volume manipulation so I ignored it.
My Coingecko is only to see coins that are not listed on Coinmarketcap because what I see on Coingecko is too many coins there, so I prefer the Coinmaketcap feature.

These are both token and coin tracker. It is not so strict on coingecko so some tokens and coins can be listed there. We all know that to be listed on CMC there are some requirement need to be met such as trading volume. Also, this isn't matter as long both tracker can give us right info and data regarding our watched tokens and coins. I like CMC more cause they have an app which is totally awesome and easy to use.

indeed currently many coins or tokens are registered at Coingecko and only a little coins are listed at CoinMarketcap, this is not because Coingecko is more popular than CMC but maybe it is difficult to register tokens on CMC. Both are very good and useful for crypto players to see which coins or tokens are good and potential. Honestly, I don't really care which comparison is more popular, because they have their own standard in entering tokens or coins. What I like is that they provide accurate, real-time info according to market conditions. If someone says CMC has too many fake volumes, I think it's a matter of exchange, not CMC, because CMC only shows the conditions according to market reality.

Don't use them as a banchmark for you to start investing on altcoin. Just choose an exchange as a banchmark such as binance, OKEx and etc. Because it will show you the potentional or not of the coin.

Even, I ever read an information in the past that the cmc was manipulating the movement price. At that time, the price of some coins were increased a lot but in the fact such on some exchange their price weren't increased, be carefull of it.

Well personally I know Coinmarketcap since it had 4 coins listed on the website and look where it's now, with hundreds of coins and tokens listed there. They for sure got rich with the website as the traffic they have is really above normal and its increasing with every day because as soon as they list a new project, every holder will check its price there.

Coingecko its a new website but it has a lot of new features besides just checking the price , volume , charts , social media and exchanges as there you can also see some technical details.

I find Coingecko more accurate and useful than CMC. This is just my personally view but whenever I check the price of something, Coingecko is more accurate to exchange pricing. Also, Coingecko has a price checker/calculator where you can check the price of your asset in different kinds of currencies depending on how much you put. It's so convenient in my opinion. Not only that, Coingecko list tokens/coins far easier than CMC so I think that's the main reason why devs prefer listing to Coingecko first.

You are very right CMC and Coingecko are very helpful when we are in the process of predicting the price of a token or coin, if told to choose between CMC and Coingeko I will choose both, because of the two sites complement each other. The thing I often see there is researching the price of coins / tokens in the market and for graphic information problems I think CMC is more familiar to me, but that goes back to taste again. And one more information provided by CMC and Coingeko is accurate.

You can see if CMC is still superior compared with coingecko

https://www.similarweb.com/website/coinmarketcap.com#overview

https://www.similarweb.com/website/coingecko.com#overview

The total traffic overview from coingecko is 3x less compared with CMC. That means CMC is more popular compared with coingecko and again coingecko uses a different method about the coin listing process.

So many crap coins are getting deleted from CMC due to the various reasons, but coingecko is still counting it. It looks like coingecko is never erased the scam coin from the list and it keeps count all of the tokens since bitcoin has created.

The first thing to know is that both plays the same role, but CMC looks more advanced which is why people prefer using it all the time. Also, the reason most coins gets listed on coingecko before CMC is that, it's easy to list in coingecko without unnecessary charges, restrictions etc. That's why most coins gets listed on coingecko at first, gain momentum then move to CMC.

CMC remains popular than Coingecko because their coin listings are in CMC there are several conditions. And all I know should have a specific volume of markets and listings of at least 2 exchanges or more.

Coinmarketcap is not listing a coin, it's the developer's move if they want to list it in Coinmarketcap and Coingecko, they also have guidelines before they can get in, so it's possible, that developers prefer Coingecko,  or CMC are rejecting some coins they want to be listed, so it's not about the number of coins listed it's on the criteria that both markets have set up.

I would have to go with Coinmarketcap. Old school wins it for me. I do think that most devs prefer Coingecko to CMC because of listing procedures. CMC has been known to be a little bit tight when selecting the coins/tokens they list; maybe, that isn't the case for Coingecko  hence the large number of coins there and exchanges as well. They are both accurate in the prices of tokens so I can go with any one of them but I'll have to be nostalgic and stick to where it all started from, CMC!

CMC and coingecko both very useful for us, i used to use both however i am confused why many coins and tokens not listing in CMC but listing in coingecko, not only coins and tokens but also many exchanges, is this because coingecko become more popular than CMC, or for something else.

Both website are great and offers live updated price of the coin/token.
As a user of both website, i can confirm that coingecko load faster than CMC and i guess that could be one of the reason people visit it.

Quote
many coins and tokens not listing in CMC but listing in coingecko
CMC charges fees while coingecko offers free listing.

both of these sites are good and I use both. because some tokens have not been registered at CMC but already registered at Coingecko. the difference also doesn't look that big when the market has a movement. both of these sites are very helpful for finding daily trading assets that I do. especially for the list of exchanges that release tokens or coins that I trade.
indeed both are very useful for traders but that can provide a powerful influence on cryptocurrency price movements at the exchange place I think is coin marketcap because many coins are listed there and it seems that what is often visited by traders is coinmarketcap.

I have been using CMC from a those days when it had very few coins listed over their and I think both CMC and Coingecko have similar functionality but Coingecko is relatively new compared to CMC but Coingecko has some advance features like filters and categories which are not available in CMC which gives Coingecko an upper hand now.

Both of these same platforms have their respective advantages. I love both. from the beginning I plunged into the world of cryptocurrency I used CMC as a benchmark to view and monitor coin prices in real time. Then I found Coingecko which is almost the same as CMC but has a review feature for ICO and many tokens in Coingecko compared to CMC. Both have their own rules for getting into a list. I use both, because it really helps me.

Despite the fact that Coingecko has some attractive features with wonderful theme and layout CMC is still most popular one even though it's not that accurate as it seems.

~snip~ CMC has some strong rules to get listed there where any coin/token project easily can get listed in Coingecko, that's why it has more coins listed than CMC! To me, this lot of token listing is a drawback in Coingecko!

Exactly CMC raised their standard that's why they don't list any coin easily.

In my opinion CoinGecko shows trade volumes more adequately. Most volume on CoinMarketCap are fake and wash trading.
There are also more coins listed on the CoinGecko.

If exchanges manipulates their trading volume then how coinmarket cap can be responsible for it,we have to look for the trading volumes is fake or its just the actual value by entering into the exchange, don't conclude anything by looking at websites like coinmarketcap or coingecko.

Coinmarketcap is more popular, but it already has a competitor, which is coingecko, although there are other coin market watch sites. If care is not taken C!C might lose its relevance and the option that will be considered more will be coingecko. It is more accessible and informative.

CMC don't wanna let some not useful coin to be listed in their platforms, so expect it to be fewer than coingecko. In addition, I do trust both of these but I used to be in CMC than coingecko for safe purposes I guess or for validation of my thoughts whether the coin is shit or not. Maybe you soon be realizing how reliable CMC than coingecko although they are both good.

In my opinion, Coingecko is not as popular as CMC but Coingecko shows its quality. As far as I know there are a lot of projects that spend money to be listed on CMC even though those projects are quite bad. Coingecko is limited to that, so I think it is better than CMC.

With regards to their interface, popularity and utility. All I can say is that, they are both addressing the needs of the people. They are helping us to know what are the coins fluctuating in a real time. I believe that they are just both equal in terms of giving services to the people yet CMC is the first one that made this and there are coins only found in CMC and vice versa.

The more popular it gets the more demand it received and same thing goes for the exchange aswell and when there. By that they could just make the listing price ridiculoudly high by simply takong advantage of the overflowing demands. I remember the old days where listing coin into such platform is as easy as getting into a dex exchange nowadays their number one source of income are from the advertisement and listing fee so I can see why they are setting such ridiculous fee.

Personally, I use both. If I need to find out the price of a coin that is not at the cmc, I always go to coinge.

CG seems to me to be a much more honest site than the CMC, but I absolutely dislike the design, it is too simple, too primitive.
I can’t find fault with such a useful and extensive functionality that CG provides, I don’t like the design at all, therefore most often I use the CMC to view prices and graphs.

Not entirely true as they are also listing tokens that are trading on tier 2 or 3 exchanges. But I guess it is a safe bet to assume they are focusing more on the bigger "names" and  the ones that are listed on premium exchanges, true. But then again, being listed on CMC takes some time even if you are a mid-sized project.

Coingecko is relatively a new services whereas coinmarketcap is serving crypto community for years and as they are paid services there is only limited coins/tokens are being listed on coinmarketcap. But, not sure about coingecko whether they are listing after a fee or simply listing all the coins and token so that they may get familiarize among crypto users (usually all the services are started as a free one and once they get decent traffic then they do turn as paid services).

If you are using these things only for reference purposes then you will be fine. I am seeing some people are going to invest blindly on top 20 or 50 coins of coinmarketcap but I am sure that they are the ones who not aware of manipulated listing on coinmarketcap. Also, coinmarketcap was accused for manipulated exchange volumes.

I don't believe it is a draw back because many tokens are listed on exchanges but unfortunately, traders that own theses coins are unaware that the token in their possession are trading.
The CMC offers token investors a chance to have an overview of the price chart, volumes and exchange listing of the tokens in their wallet. tokens and coins don't create volumes and daily trades if we all hodl our tokens expect when TRADING is taking place on an exchange.
i personally prefer coingecko because it contain much coins/tokens.

That two web crypto listing is not competing whether where is good or legit projects. they list projects that need to be spread, because they are most popular and most visited web place that most of crypto projects want to give their information to every crypto users. I use that two platform to know which projects had the potential and interesting. although they have different features and services, we still have the choice to know more about the project they list and dyor for adding more information and own safety.

Both of them are platforms that have the same use, it's just that for coin gecko added with an ICO / IEO review. So Coingecko also adds token data on its site, even junk tokens also exist. In short coingecko is the full version if you want to find a list of token information.

If you are using these things only for reference purposes then you will be fine. I am seeing some people are going to invest blindly on top 20 or 50 coins of coinmarketcap but I am sure that they are the ones who not aware of manipulated listing on coinmarketcap. Also, coinmarketcap was accused for manipulated exchange volumes.
indeed such cases have occurred and are likely to continue to recur, but they are always quickly overcome by dev cmc to neutralize trust again. CMC has very high traffic and a simple layout, so it's not too heavy to access.

Coingecko, cryptocompare etc., offer something more complete, especially new coins, but websites tend to require heavy loading. I once checked Coingecko to look for new altcoins, the information provided was complete, but it was often too late for updates and a lot of information had expired, including coins being removed from the market.

CMC remains the most popular crypto price tracking website. The reason coingecko happens to have more coins, tokens and exchange when compared to CMC is because of the criteria needed to get listed on CMC. For example, CMC requires a project to be listed on more than one exchange with real liquidity before being considered for listing. Coingecko, has taken off those unnecessary bottlenecks thereby making it easier for projects to get listed on coingecko. Both CMC and coingecko are very reliable when tracking price of  coins and tokens. For me both are of same calibre.

For coin tracking i give CMC 100/100 mark, but the absence of new coins make me use others like coingecko or cryptocompare, CMC also have the best interface, no webiste heavy loading and they keep adding and updating info everytime

I believe the reason for this is because the two bodies (Coin gecko and Coin Market Cap) have different teams with different priorities. What qualifies a coin or exchange to be list on coin gé kò May mean nothing to CMC.

CMC is always rated better than Coingecko. However, Coingecko has listed a lot of coins and has more details than CMC. Although CMC is more popular than Coingecko, besides displaying details about currencies, trading platforms, it also evaluates ICO and IEO projects.

I like both but I am more used to CMC. CMC is becoming strict on listing coins nowadays. They require developers to provide more information and a minimum traded volume. CMC is feeling the never ending launching of coins where many of them are unnecessary, the reason they implemented the new standard in listing new coins and exchanges.

Coingecko is getting more popular but I think CMC is still the more popular. I do not know how both sites can generate big profit but at present CMC is already an official sponsor of Beitar Jerusalem Football Club in the Israeli major league. Here is a picture as a proof.

Coingecko may have an open function for various projects that can be registered free of charge there, this can provide good information about new projects. Coinmarketcap has their own conditions for those who want to be registered on their platform, this is a benchmark for a good project.

Just because CMC is the first marketcap site and that has made CMC become popular among the crypto users.

CMC is rather strict in their listing therefore there are plenty of projects that were not listed there compare to coingecko as coingecko is not that strict in requirements.

CMC is more popular compare to coingecko but coingecko is doing their best also to serve the customers and the audience. What I would like to see in the future is that, I am hoping that coingecko will become more strict in their requirements also, so the shit projects cannot market their projects easily and only the genuine projects will remain.

I am not very familiar with Coingecko but in the other hand, Coinmarketcap started here in bitcointalk with a thread. During its start I remember them receiving many advertisements from investment scams. They finally left bitcointalk when  they are receiving negative trusts but that time they were already very popular in the whole crypto space. At present I don't see scam advertisements anymore. Coinmarketcap is becoming big and rich and they are also careful with its reputation.

I have used both sites for checking the daily turnover and volumes for the major altcoin pairs but the CMC information is more reliable. The requirements for listing the token in CMC are not simple and the $100k daily volume altcoins can apply for listing in this site. The Coingecko has more choices and the simple, smooth user interface attracts the traders too.

Different from Coingecko which is just as limited as purchase like their price reader blog before listing and there is any price they could have registered there. More to the giving of information to what project we check it.

Coinmarketcap requires an asset to be listed in at least two exchanges and have liquidity before listing whereas Coingecko list any asset, regardless of this so that's why you'll find more assets on the latter and it is a valuable resource especially for newly released projects that don't yet have multiple exchange listings

CMC has stronger parameters in order to be listed on their website than coingecko and whether you like this or not will depend on your preferences, some may like to see a smaller number of coins and to see only the best coins that we have in the market.

Yes, another advantage for coingecko is that many erc20 tokens can be checked even though the market is not yet popular, so we can see and check all the tokens we get from the bounty. Indeed. There's people who choose to check from this two platform before investing, they checked the coin movement while knowing deep inside
that this actions can be manipulated inside the exchange. Though with news and speculations that spreading around there's chances that some
timing will work and have the chance to earn.

this is an advantage of coinmarketcap, in coingekco data does not yet exist, both are equally good, and it is able to facilitate investors and even traders

For me, coinmarket is much more reputable and quality than coingecko. I always use coinmarket to observe the market and track altcoins. The information coinmarket brings is always accurate and fast, and now at coinmarket there is no longer a fake volume situation.

In terms of trust we can't tell which one is more trusted but I believe there are a lot of people who are using CMC compared the coingecko.
Some coins are not listed in CMC can be seen in coingecko and that is good as they provide more information.

as you can see in the comparison.

Indeed, coins and tokens registered with Coingecko are more numerous than Coinmarketcap, but from the market value of the cryptocurrency market cap, there is no big difference. In my opinion, this indicates that many altcoins are not actively traded or might die.

Coinmarketcap and coingecko are both good CMC is more popular but I guess coingecko is more accurate in terms of exchanges. Their Top 10 list is more convincing than CMC. I  guess CMC is really dependent on API's even if it is just a fake volume. In the previous month, a new exchange has launched and it reaches the top 1 on cmc without a doubt a fake volume but later on, I guess CMC adjusted it.

It won't be easy for coins to be in CMC. CMC is a convincing basic reference for crypto users, so when a coin is in CMC the coin is already qualified to be in CMC in terms of volume, exchange, and others. so I think that's the problem why there aren't many coins in CMC but they are already in Coingecko

So in reality there are more than 6K of cryptocurrency in the world and not just the once that are listed in CMC. CMC is known to delist the coins that has no volume in the market. They were protecting thier reputation when doing this because the ydon't wanna shill coins that could investors may blame them all because they list the token. The investors assumed that because a project is listed, its legit and not scam.

True, but I personally visit CMC more often than Coingecko to see token and coin information and exchanges, because in my opinion CMC is more complete in presenting information and more accurate in updating information.

Yes, another advantage for coingecko is that many erc20 tokens can be checked even though the market is not yet popular, so we can see and check all the tokens we get from the bounty. Coinmarketcap is more to coins that have a large trading volume, then it will appear there. both are equally good, and have their own advantages.
What is the point in listing a coin that is not even listed in any exchange, not sure what their policies are but both these sites will list the coins if you pay them well, since i am not into the shit tons of projects i really do not care about the thousands of coins as there are plenty of worthless coins and for you to check the tokens in your wallet you can just go to your ETH wallet explorer and verify that.

as we know that CMC and Coingecko are sites that can help us to find out coins, volume and prices. especially with the CMC site one of the trusted sites and displays a comprehensive coin list. I personally also use both of these sites to find out about coins.

Last few years coinmarketcap is only one site everyone used because when there are no other way to know about any single coin price also exchange list. Now Coingecko is gradually popular because it’s very useful when showing accurate and real volume which can't coinmarketcap. I think 95% volumes are fake in according to CMC strategy. I am using coingecko to  avoid fake volume.

Coingecko is provide more accurate date, volume than Coinmarketcap. Coingecko is listing a lot of cryptocurrency even which some are not listed in CMC i think it’s a good side. CMC didn’t delist scam exchanges and scam tokens likes idax.pro exists scam in the previous week. Both of exchanges features are a lot of difference. P2PB2B,Exrates is top ranking exchanges in CMC but you can check coingecko.

Coinmarketcap a nice helper. However, Coinmarketcap can also be fake. Somehow the scammers are leaking in there. It doesn't make much sense to get information from a single source. It makes sense to get information from more than one source.

The calculation that already used by both are different but CMC looks used the crap method to calculate the daily volume trade, those crap exchange sites placed at bottom on coingecko. based on my experience and coingecko is much more credible compared with CMC. i don't why but CMC looks a very crap Mcap site right now. It looks like CMC is getting paid for manipulate the data. lol

They have both been very useful to crypto users for so long already.
Though someone should not rely the accuracy of the data, still they are good reference points and it comes in handy.
They are those sites that I always check into if I need immediate data for a specific coin or project.
It is like your starting point and then if you want to study more of the project, you can check the links that come with it.

Yes, those were like starters to the cryptocurrency network. Most of the cryptocurrency users prefer this to be the reference point to analyse and invest. Personally whenever I brief someone about cryptocurrency I used to show them the websites coinmarketcap and coingecko, on seeing such a big list of cryptocurrencies people will gain trust on it and gets much more interest to know more.

It saddens my heart badly if the tokens I have is not listed on CMC. CMC helps me to monitor their price, circulating supply and to know their rank. When tokens is not listed on CMC, I find it hard to trade on them easily. I do assume they are just a flop if they're not listed on CMC yet

CMC is a bigger network of cryptocommunities than coingecko. I dont use coingecko for monitoring coins or tokens only CMC but I already see their UI design and features. Almost same, the only advantage of coingecko is you can actually see a lot than CMC cause of their easy application.

Coingecko is newer and fresher than CMC, it serves us more modern UI and their google SEO is also nice when we search coin price on google sometimes coingecko is surpassing CMC in the list. So i think coingecko is the biggest rival for CMC and also it serves many features.

Both Coinmarketcap and Coingecko are good resource tools that i believe every crypto enthusiasts rely on to check the stats of any cryptocurrency. The difference that i have noted among the two is that Coinmarketcap only lists cryptocurrencies that are being traded on at least two exchanges but coingecko list any coin which has been launched into this space. I don't really know what metrics that coingecko really uses, anybody cares to share with me?

In short, coingecko is more comprehensive while CMC stick to their old format and they will delist the coins if it's also delisted in exchanges that resulted to not passing the requirements of at least traded in two exchanges.

CMC is the first in the space, so it has gain a lot of users compared to coingecko but coingecko is such a great alternative which from time to time we can check if we can't find a particular information in CMC.

To my knowledge, if a token and coin are attached to a coin market, the owner of the coin must pay the coin market to be registered and must have at least two exchanges for the coin.
If that is clear friends, because what you say is a minimum requirement that must be met by the project or token in order to be registered
in CMC and Coingecko.

It is true, that is the minimum requirement for the requirements that must be met by the project. however, if a project has good prospects they will definitely glance at some large exchanges. so that the objectives of the project itself will be achieved.

Coinmarket cap only list coins that comply on their requirements that's why CMC listing coins is hard for coins that did start early all thier development.  While coingecko listing are so very easy and even coins or tokens that already listed in exchanges you can still search this in Coingecko.

Well, both are good in their own ways but CMC looks more advanced than its counterpart. The reason is this, CMC has more tools and services which makes users feel free to use it. Also, to list on CMC be it coins or tokens or exchanges there are certain pre-requistes to meet and once achieved they will be listed. But same isn't like in coingecko as listing is quite easy and which is why most upcoming projects always list there first before moving to CMC. Thus you can see that even when listed on coingecko, projects will still strive to list on CMC because it offers more exposure and it is still well renowned..
