This post just for fun, I am quite curious about "how did  you chosen bitcointalk username at the beginning of registrations? And why?"

For me I will share why I have chosen "Coolcryptovator" username for bitcointalk. Since I believe this forum is like a crypto academy so I wondered to create some username with crypto related. Then "Cryptovator" were came on my mind, but unfortunately this username has been taken by someone else. I could add some number with it (like 123) but it was quite annoying to me with username. So I  want to add something with "Cryptovator" except numerical. So I add "Cool" with it, because often I use this word on real life and online chat. It was become my habit to use "Cool" word everywhere. And that's how I have chosen my username "Coolcryptovator".

There is few interesting name on this forum. Sometimes I have been thinking how and why he chosen that username.

Back on High school I was a gamer and fond of palying CABAL ONLINE, and from that I came up with an In-Game name of cabalism, it was just that at first then later comes cabalism7, I really don't know where did that number came from instead on my first alias madruine7, then followed by cabalism13 in which the 13 is my Bitrthdate.

I've been using this name for a long time, its kinda unique. Although some users mistakenly pronounce it as CANNIBALISM LoL.

When I started getting interested in Bitcoin, I wanted to improve my privacy. So I used a random name generator to create "Loyce Valenzuela", only to find out much later "Loyce" is a female name.
But it grew on me, first because "Valenzuela" rolls nicely off the tongue, and now because "everyone" knows me as LoyceV.

Wanted something bleak yet fighty. Ended up sounding ghey and vehicular - don't care about cars, #nohomo.

Interesting topic.  I'm not sure when I first heard the phrases 'pearls before swine' but it was more than 20 years ago, because I had used it in casual conversation once that I remember back in 1999 or so.  It comes from the bible, tho I'm almost certain that's not how I came across it. 

The meaning of it is basically that you shouldn't waste your talents on people who are incapable of appreciating them, so one should not cast pearls (valuable things) before swine (idiots).  I have always had a liking for the phrase, so that's why I chose it as my username.

This username is my name at the internet but still contains my real name. Went i register to the forum i don't know the username will be my nickname forum, I thought we can set up a name forum at the profile.

You can if you have very convincing reasons. Without 50 BTC, you still can ask for change on your username. You know what? I knew that there is one user who get acceptance from admin to change his/ her username. More shockingly, that is a woke up user. Nevertheless, he/she has convincing reasons, because of the original username is highly correlated with his/her real names that used on other platforms. After years of inactive, he/she came back and ask for username change and privacy protection. Less than 24 hours or 2 days in maximum, that account username changed to a random one with randomly chosen letters and figures.

I only remembered about that user but I don't know which is that one because I did not bookmark it.

My biggest passion & hobby is Liverpool Football Club so with a total lack of imagination when I signed up in 2014 I just put LFC (as an abbreviation of the above) & Bitcoin together. It had to be something I’d remember so there we go, simple yet effective :D

I also used a random name generator and got the name TryHard, which was already in use in some of the websites I was registering at, so my friend told me to try "TryNinja" instead, since it has something to do (Try The Ninja) with a game we played at the time. :D

There are also some variations of that name I use on some other websites.

I didn't have a nickname dedicated to Bitcoin/cryptos and at the time of my inscription here, I didn't get any inspiration.
Halab is half of one of my nicknames I used during my MMO period.
My full nickname is Halab Hagar, which is a "wordplay" that in french gives "A la bagarre", which could be translated as "In the fight".
Halab Hagar didn't suit to the atmosphere of this forum, so I only chose Halab.

I just used my real name to register. My name is Umer Idrees so i just combine the both words and registered like a good boy.
The reason behind using the real name was that if there is ever KYC here, it will be easy for me to pass it.  :)

Back then I didn't really think seriously on the name. I clearly didn't imagine I'll still have same account on the same forum after more than 5 years. Now I'd clearly pick something which at least is not subject to copyright  ::)
NeuroticFish is the name of a band. A band from which I like the music (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqaDtCSPFyg) and also its name.

At the time of my registration here, i was totally new to bitcoin and crypto. For me Bitcoin was a great thing, it is still great for me though. I was too much excited and enthusiastic about bitcoins, and the name which i choose was from that love and inspiration from bitcoins.

I registered in the forum long back when i got involved in BTCitcoin but was not able to remember the password and never posted anything as far as i remember and i just removed the R and ended up using eaLiTy when i registered again because new projects were posting the contents here and hence i thought it was time to register again in this forum and after that i am here :).

Assman and tittyman were already taken - so went with T(itty)Man instead

I've been using DireWolf for a long time, but I took a break from it when a friend of mine coined another for me.  Since DireWolf is often taken, I added the "M14" to make it unique.

There is nothing special with my username  :-[. "Khaled" It is my last name and as it was already taken, I added the date of my birth 01/11

I started mining with GPUs at the end of 2013 when Bitcoin already had ASICs so the stuff I could mine profitably was mainly some Scrypt altcoins including Doge.

My user name is nothing special either and glad to see that some used their real names as the user name, i have used my real name and while registering i was not thinking much and if i had the opportunity again i would have changed that.

My username is my real name. I always write my name as A.k. Amit unless there is a need to write it in full.

But I really didn't want to have this username here when I signed up in this forum on my first visit on 24th Feb 2016. I actually didn't know at that time that I can have my username in TitleCase or UPPERCASE or something like Bitcoin World (with space) or in a fancy way. I thought that it should be in lowercase with no spaces and special characters, the same as elsewhere in most sites at that time and it was very common.

Since this is for fun only, I wonder why it isnt int the offtopic board?
Anyways my name diced90 was actually the common password I used for many gambling portals. I have changed my password a long time ago so you need not try to hack me. Besides no one knows my email haha.

Interesting question. When I joined Bitcointalk, I was struggling to choose my username. I wanted to have cool username which would be easy to remember. But I didn't wanted to use my nickname which I use on other forums, because I wanted some privacy and I wanted to separate my crypto activities from my other hobbies.
I decided to use "LTU", what is abbrevation of my country Lithuania. I wanted to show that there is some crypto enthusiasts from my country. And then I just added "btc" to my nickname. But some people here call me just LTU. I don't use this username anywhere else, except few other crypto forums.
But if I would sign up on Bitcointalk now, I'm not sure that I would pick same nickname.

"Leo" from "Leopold von Sacher-Masoch", whom Masochism is named after. The preceeding "O" and "E" are the sounds I make whilst participant in said masochism in Foxpup's dungeon. The palindrone effect just rounds it all off nicely.

Or maybe it's because my real name is Leo (or is it?), and I just wanted to cause maximum annoyance to anyone who has to type my name out by hand.

CryptopreneurBrainboss: I'm popular know as brainboss among my peer then after my involvement in bitcoin back in 2015 after I started advocating for my peers to invest in the technology, I got referred to as a Cryptopreneur. Since most of those which I introduced were my friends and they already know me as Brainboss the name CryptopreneurBrainboss was then introduced when we're discussing issues relating to cryptocurrency but on a normal day, I still get referred to as Brainboss.

Fast forward to 2017, when I got to know about the forum after I picked interest in increasing my knowledge on the technology plus earning additional income that doesn't involve me investing personal funds, I decide to go with the username CryptopreneurBrainboss since I was already used to been referred to by that nickname when I'm associating with fellow like-minded cryptocurrency enthusiast (discussing cryptocurrency).

The recovery team did this, but they change a name with a random name. Since he will not use the account anymore, the recovery team accept his request to change the username and locked the account.

Actually the truth is far less profound. I've been using this name online ever since "being online" meant racking up a huge phone bill with a 56k modem. The fact that I can speak of such things demonstrates that I am obviously no longer a pup, but names are sticky.

is, the word acro itself means is pointed, first or high, or something like that. I've been using this username for 11 years now. I first

Choosing username to use in any website that I registered on is very hard to be honest as a gamer. It took me around 1-2 hours to think of my IGN in different games I played.

The first part is just useless :D. How did I choose my username. The Brand of the Mouse I'm using right now :D

I was working on a script (coding/python) for a client at the time. One of the comments on the script had the word initiate in it, and since I was work on a script, hence the name Initscri was born.

Really means nothing more than that.

First part of my username is similar to my real name and also have interesting meaning in Hebrew language 😁
91 is connected with 1991 very important year in my life and life changing experience I had.

My life is familiar with the words of YOSHIE, my country used to be invaded by Japan, a lot of where I live, of Japanese descent, some live in Indonesia, Singapore and some return to Japan.

YOSHIE, a name in my family, means: (beautiful river), comes from the name of my grandmother, who came from Japan, and now died a long time ago, Honestly.

When I was in the Bitcointalk Forum, I saw in the Forum too many animal names, the universe etc, lying.

Then it crossed my mind why I, not only gave my surname here that had been lost to commemorate him, what else the bitcointalk forum was created by Japanese.

I used to be a WarRock player ^{[an online FPS game, played one of its local versions]}, top 3 ^{[not in terms of skills, only my rank]} to be exact ^{[late 2007 to 2010ish]} and this was my name back then ^{[taken from my whole name]}.

For me is a nickname I use on a game I played long time ago (LineageII) and I also used it on here just because it was available, I really didn't thought about it very much back in the days. At the origins: I took my name and englished it a bit to fit better in the online space where the predominant language is English.

I put zero effort or thought into mine. I typed the first thing that occurred to me. At least I don't use it anywhere else.

If I'd known what a fixture I'd become I would've preferred to have spent some time thinking it over. Perhaps PinkPanties or Big Glenda.

My name on the forum is inspired by a true Roman soldier, centurion Lucius Vorenus (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vorenus_and_Pullo) who was a member of the famous XI Legion (Legio undecima Claudia) formed by Julius Caesar to invade Gallia in 58 BC. My user name is a meme that is well known in my native, sashi can be defined as When a Mallu ends up being the loser in a situation, he describes himself as Sasi and Rajavu means king. One of my friend advised me to invest in bitcoin back in 2012 but that time i did not take that seriously as i was busy with other things and when i saw that the market got traction i understood i lost the opportunity to invest when the price was really low and hence i came up with the username :D.

I really enjoyed reading on their explanation about choosing a username upon registration.
Thinking a good username is hard to think, IMO and it took an hour for me to think.

From my 2 lovely sisters, because I'm the youngest sibling among them all- they love me and care with me.

Frankly, when I joined here I had no knowledge of crypto, even about this site. I chose a name without thinking about anything. Since it is not possible to change the username, I could not change the name later.

But it was really for fun, and I'd be glad to share how I chose my username. First, when I learned about the forum, I was confused about which username to choose, so I just left, not wanting to be in a rush. After that day, I was just going through countless usernames in my mind, but none were interesting to me. After remembering the Avengers movie name "Dr. Strange," I took interest in the name Dr. Bitcoin Strange." I can't tell why I chose that name, but I guess it was just cool to me and because I love Bitcoin as well.

Everyone in this forum wants to keep himself completely hidden while maintaining his privacy.  So it's a common thing that no one wants to use their real name and because of that choosing a name becomes a lot of thought. I follow everything around me first and then no one has a short name that I like very much.  And add something crypto related to it to create a custom name and use it. like My country has a currency system of coins as well as paper money. And when I registered this account I had many coins and I named my account Coin.  But since coin is not my own name it is the name of a currency system so I add erer to it and create a name of my own as coinerer  :D

When I first registered here back in 2020 I did not take my username seriously or thought too much about it, so I simple went with a variation of a name that some friends have used to refer to me before. A silly variation.

I also wanted to have a username which could be short and without numbers in it.
After creating this account I realized it was a good idea to go with a short name, since it makes it easier to recall, in my opinion.  :)

Depend on personal or individual when choosing their Bitcointalk username, some of people used their real names and adopted it in Bitcointalk name after seeing several user here have familiar, but some user not use their real name for Bitcointalk account. I used my real name but include number because have available or created by some one else with my real name, possibility in Bitcointalk forum have the other person having the same real name with me.

Seems under 40% of user Bitcointalk account use their real name here, we can see many user put the name of color, street names based on several user from my country.

When I wanted to signed up I had difficulty in picking up a name since I was looking for a username that's unrelated to my real name to give me complete anonymity. Finally, I settled for sokani which simply means joy. I got the name from a movie I watched "the hate you give". The major cast is Starr who has two other brothers, seven and sokani. Sokani is last child, he's always happy, playful and putting smiles on people's faces around him. Actually, I picked the name because I think we have somuch in common.

You could be accused of necroposting since you brought up a post from 2019. I was surprised when I saw this topic since several more similar ones were created after it, and it's rather strange that you were interested in this one.
But our people are indifferent, they don't care when it was created, as you can see, there are its successors. Including me. ;D

People on the forum are not much concerned about fun threads anymore; it seems they are more concerned about accumulating bitcoin and preparing for another Bitcoin ATH because the last pump was massive. I have been practicing Aikido (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aikido), a Japanese martial art, for several years now. The term Aikido refers to the martial art itself, and the suffix ka(家, -ka) indicates that someone practices it. This is how I came up with my forum username.

As an Aikidoka, I have received training in Aikido's principles, techniques, and philosophy, and my level of skill and expertise in the martial art is recognized. Aikido plays a significant role in my life as it helps me relax and utilize my inner body energy, making me feel better both inside and outside of the gym. I am thankful that the username was available for me to use when I signed up for the forum.

In this movie a corrupt roman leader named Tiberius kills his father and blinds his only little brother (publius) and later also plans to kill him. To save the child (lil brother), a good general (maybe centurion, I don't know his rank :P) named Lucius takes the child and flees to the famous silk road....to be continue...

Not sure whether the movie was history accurate but the story was something like that. I'm not a history person!  :(

Mine is quite obvious to a lot of people. It’s pretty unoriginal and I’d probably choose something else if I started again but I was stuck on what to choose as a username.

I am a big Liverpool FC fan and I love Bitcoin so LFC_Bitcoin seemed a good idea.

Mine is Daniel, and as you know we African are very religious people and most of the names over here are bible relate. Daniel is the name given and for some reason taught to make it unique as Danny is basically what everyone calls me and as for the number additions, it was just an extra layer added.

My username I a typo.
Should have been Filippine (capital F, single L). Instead is fillipone (small f, double l).
Should have been Filippo (Italian for Philip) One, and actually my first messages were signed F1.
F1 is actually a lot of cringe.

My username is a variation of Haggar, one of the characters from Final Fight, a video game that many of you probably know. I must admit that when I registered on the forum I didn't check to see if Mike Haggar (original name) was available, as I've always liked this variation better.

Who knows, I might see Cody Travers or a user named Guy on the forum one day :o

Also, I detect some suspecting alt accounts by merely reading the usernames, some usernames are so unserious to the point that you can't think it twice. That's by the way though.

Mine was constructed based on my initial intention of bringing helpful and extra earning means to the forum but decided to abandon it due to the sentiment I met here.

My username was one of the hardest choice I had to make in this forum, I tried some other usernames back then but it wasn't accepted or it already existed, so I decided to use the name Churchill even though I never understood where the inspiration came from but I just decided to use it and weird thing is I've never really had an encounter with the name before so I'm also surprised to see myself answer the name.

Unfortunately, Churchill already existed so I added any random alphabet to see if it would get accepted and lucky VV was added to the name that's how I got the name and I'm really loving the name already.

Back in 2011, when I was high school student, I loved playing Cabal Online. Also that time Cabal Online was very popular in my country. At that time in Cabal Online one of the strongest players IGN (in-game name) is xLays, was Storm Bringer Title (Procyon). The Bringer title in Cabal grants the ability to send chat messages that appear in all channels.
And that's the very simple reason why I idolized him, and because of that, I chose the username xLays to remember him.

I would never have guessed! Google indeed confirms it's quite obvious, but in my mind it looked more like LTC than anything else.

My username has nothing special in it, and there is no interesting story behind it. It was just that I was feeling pretty low and depressed because of a few things that had happened in my life at that time, and I was feeling very lonely at some point, I had the realization that it was only me with me, and I had to do everything alone in this world if I want to make my life better. Others might be on your side, but not forever, not even the family.

So, when I was joining the forum, I just thought of the word "Alone", since I couldn't create the account with that word only, I had to add "055" with it, which was just a random number I thought of at that moment. Hence, the username, "Alone055".

When I join a forum, I usually choose a username that comes from a movie, game, or book I like. After spending 10–15 minutes trying to find a name that hasn’t already been taken, I gave up and simply used a name generator to come up with this username.
The downside of this name generator approach is that I never really liked my username as the name "Rikafip" doesn’t mean anything to me.  :P

Hah, you are not the only one as I saw other members referring to me as "Rikaflip" as well. And I don't blame them as that name makes more sense than mine.  :P

I didn't encounter any difficulty figuring out what name I'd use as my bitcointalk username during registration, my friends already gave me a nickname 'zoom', so the moment I made up my mind to join the forum, I knew that would be my identity. One thing i find interesting about my username is that it somehow reminds me that crypto is quickly taking over the world of finance. The word 'zoom' means to move quickly and that's what crypto is doing ;D

My friends gave me the name zoomic because of my speed during sport races. It was originally 'zoom', but I added the surfix 'ic' to make it sound more unique and different from every other kinds of zooms. I like how it sounds and looks, very short, simple and unique.

I guess we subconsciously place the 'f'for complete sounding.


Well in picking Ambatman, I just used the name that came to my head first and because I never really liked Batman.

And the account was created on a whim so didn't really place emphasis.

Tbh, I thought about it, to ask for a name change but I don't it would accepted as I don't really have a good reason for such request. And who knows, maybe I would even miss it if I change it.

I don't think theymos is that hard on people over here, maybe if you request for a change of name he would definitely do that. You are reputable enough to request for a change of name in the forum. However, my name came as something very differential from others, thinking about privacy as my real name are all local names which is far too long to have here. Putting down my names doesn't abide the rules of anonymity where bitcoin talks about privacy and decentralizations.

The first day I had about the Bitcointalk, they said I need to create an so insert username, I was thinking which username I will choose that will they very okay and always they remembered for without forget and I’m a MTN agent so i decide to choose AYOBA.

AYOBA is a free message from MTN app that allowed every users to share and received messages without contact; that’s I choose to use it as my username then use the name I’m bearing at home.

Because as it that the name I’m bearing at home it will they very obvious to this forum, that’s is the purpose of using AYOBA as my Bitcointalk username.

And I though that was your real life name or surname, same like some people think I registered as a young boy born in '98  8)

I think it's interesting that some of the legendary OG forum members used their real names as bitcointalk usernames, for example Hal Finney registered ad Hal with his real photo, and Greg Maxwell registered as gmaxwell.

Who knows, maybe Rikafip becomes a popular name in Croatia.  ;D

Or Laszlo Hanyecz. I think at the time they created their accounts (I guess) none of them expected for bitcoin to become what it is now. At least not in such a short timeframe.

I got my username name from my family ( Different patterns) although I have 2 games in my phone, Ludo and table tennis, I have older sister, also have a younger sister and brother  both of them like to play games whenever I drop my phone, they would grab it and playing games with my phone without my concept, nonstop until battery runs down, and it always make me upset whenever I see my phone is down I knew it them, so I always change the pattern of unlock my phone, my Older sister frequently use  my phone, anytime I changed  pattern I share it with her because she use my phone often, if my younger ones realise I change pattern again they will go and ask my sister because them know I will tell her, one day, my younger brother played a game with phone I collected it and change pattern again, so when my sister carry my phone to use, she tried to unlock it but not, she's called me,,mr Different pattern come and unlock your phone I want to use it, my younger siblings started calling me mr Different patterns too, that's how I got my username, I decided to use it as forum username.

My username is a combination of the vicinity I lived at the time I stumbled on this forum (late 2016) and needed to create my account in 2017. It was one of the easiest decisions I made. I wanted here to be a memory for me and so I did two things. One was to wait until my birthday to create the account and secondly I picked two communities where I resided then and formed them into a single word.

Till date, I smile whenever I remember all that.

Mine was gotten from a friend of mine, back then in school we used to call her Lizzy meanwhile her real name is Elizabeth, we used Lizzy as the short form. One day the dress she wore was too beautiful on her, the next thing that came out from my mouth was Sexylizzy, since that day we forget her real name and started call her Lizzy, just to remember her because we was so close I decided to use the name as my username when I was registering on the Forum.

In last few years we have too much talk about Generals in our country as many are blaming them for problems but still they are controlling all things without any problem just because they are powerful and no one able to challenge them I decided I can't be General in our country.
My friend refer me this forum as I was looking for something new as I have registration page I decided I could be General here for Bitcoin community I have done this. ;)

When I heard about Bitcoin newly, most of the seminars I used to attend then they usually asked this question, who is the creator of Bitcoin? And because people weren't this familiar with the name of Satoshi Nakamoto in my countryside and until the event that I won a prize for getting the name correctly. Therefore, as a remembrance and my passion for Bitcoin and the creator, Satoshi. I decided to include the suffix “Toshi” in the username I chose during my registration, and that brought me to Franctoshi.

The idea is a very good one because it will going to help you to remember her whenever you look at your username. However, my own username was the name that my dad normally called me when I was very small. He used to call me City then, so when I was trying to register in Bitcointalk forum I was a little bit confused about the name I would used, so on the process I now remember the name that my dad do call so I decided to add hunter34 to make it more lengthy.

At first I thought the name you used was a name of somebody like a father of somebody, what I'm trying to say is that the name of the person is maegbu while you are the Mpa that's father of Maegbu, like putting them together Mpamaegbu, I don't know if you get what I said. That was what I said before deleting it, hope you're ok for seeing it now ;D.

I think that most users choose their username that is somehow related to crypto. It is logical, because they register on a bitcoin forum. But I went the other way. When I registered, I did not relate myself to the crypto world at all, it seemed distant, complicated and incomprehensible to me. I was not sure that I would stay here for long, because I have no technical training, and I felt quite an outsider in this community for a long time. I have a philosophical education, and I read a lot of literature. My nickname directly refers to this philosophical and literary work and to my feeling in the forum community at first.

I am so used to the word "Perfect" while making speaking and discussing with friends in real life to an extent most of them observed that when I speak I don't skip to use the word Perfect, at some point many of them began calling me perfectbaby as nickname so I got used to it and started including perfect to some of online registration and the rest till i had to come across this forum and i created account with the name Perfectbaby. But I wonder why it's that hard or difficult to change name without a good reason to change names.

It doesn't mean anything special. "Let's get down to business". ;D I thought of Eminem's lyric. I didn't think much about it when I picked this username. I thought I could do business here, and Bitcoin always seemed to me to be about money, especially "new money".
At this point, Bitcoin has become much more than just a payment method. It has become one of the most robust investment instruments. When I became a member, I didn't think I would be here for 10 years, but here we are. ;D

Oh, ok. Yeah, I understood what you meant there. However, that's not how that moniker was formed or what it means, far from it. I won't even allow my kids call me Mpa. That's old school, kind of; I'm a modern man 😏. BTW, what happens to Nna-anyi if articulating the modern "Dad" would be too heavy for them to use?

When I was placing my step on this forum, I had no intention  ??? to put my username like this, but when I thought, let's put a name that will remind me of my past. So that's why I kept my username GbitG.

GbitG is an abbreviation letter that stands for "Get Back into the Groove" Behind this username I have an identity hidden ::). Because when I was criticized in my family for not becoming anything, I decided in my heart that I would be successful and become a person. I will make my own identity. So that's why I kept GbitG as my username...  :)

Mine was from Anime called One Piece (https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/One_Piece_Wiki), the PX (Pacifist), it should be an N number after the "PX-" since there are many of them. Then a movie was released, and a new "PX" was made, which was the Film Z movie, and that's where the "PX-Z" comes from or the "Shiro Kuma." I guess who knows the anime will know this username tooo, I'm just a fan of the anime :)

Hold on, it seems like you don't like the Mpa, no need to imagine how local it may sound because I think that's old school style of calling you a father, don't worry it doesn't make you look old, is just for the time been and your children will love it, well I'm just saying because I saw you as one of the oldest person when I first joined the Forum, like an elder 😁. I almost thought your dad called you the username you're using now, the hunter got me scared for a minute like habe you hunted a whole City on your own before 😁? Well the name City is really a unique one because no one is using or answering that name and no matter what you can never forget that name CITY till you get old because it came from your father and I also believe you'd be very proud of answering that name.

This is not only a funny question but also a strange question. Everyone's story of choosing a name is different but I don't know how many will share their true story here. This is a decentralized forum where everyone prefers to keep everyone anonymous so everyone uses pseudonyms.
My username is a short form of something special, which is very dear to me at least.

It is actually a shorthand for the full name through which I can stay connected to the decentralized forum and identify ourselves. I think most people do that or they can use the name of a favorite pet or a favorite place. To be honest, I decided to use my real name when I registered my account but my friend suggested it. My username ID has a lot of similarities to my real name.
