Title: My second birthday in forum. A retrospective view.
Post by: TheBeardedBaby on November 07, 2019, 02:29:05 PM
Two year ago on this date I opened this account and it changed my life.
Sounds like a cliché, right. Well, It might sound like one but it is the truth.

I never thought that:

I will be so obsessed with the forum.
I will meet so many cool people here, amazing.
I can touch the history of bitcoin.
Be part of the whole new world.

Thank you guys, all of you!

730 day later quick stats.

161 topic stated.
3088+1 posts.
1287 merit earned.
630 merit send.
Been on the DT and DT2.
Helped more than 30 members to rank up (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5176193.0)
Reported almost 5000 posts. (https://i.imgur.com/nslO54n.png)
Still fighting the spam.  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4720640.0)
Just a few more activity from the Legendary (self-made)

Everything is possible, when merit system came in place many were skeptical that it won't be possible to rank up, but soon we gonna enter the time when brand new accounts registered at the time of the merit will start ranking up to legendarily. I can't wait to see how many people will rank up. Time will show.

To all the newbies out there. It's not hard to rank up, it just takes time. Be honest and you will succeed.

I never thought that:

I will be so obsessed with the forum.
This is the one I can most relate to--I'm on the forum a ridiculous number of hours a day, not necessarily posting or doing heavy reading, but I'm always checking for new threads and stuff.  I was enamored with bitcointalk even when I was a lurker here, because there was always something going on, some drama or new scam or whatever.

OP, do you remember what rank you were when the merit system was introduced?  You registered just a couple of months beforehand, so you must have ranked up to Hero member from almost scratch.  That's impressive, but I'm not surprised--you make good posts and have been a great member of the forum from what I've seen.  Props to you.

Thank you TP, of course I remember, I was a member back then I had a 10 airdroped merit and 1 sMerit.
The funny thing is that I've mined some bitcoin back in 2013 with my ooold AMD card, but I never crossed the forum back then.
I remember when the bitcoin came in the local news in 2009, my friend said that time, hey we can try to buy some digital money now we were joking about it. I whish i knew... :)

I also spend a lot of time here mostly looking for spam, it's very relaxing.

All your achievement is the sign of your hard work mate. Its the only thing which is really important for newbies. If you can achieve all these milestone just in 2 years then definitely you will get more in the future. I think you forgot to mention about your green trust (+4) and IMO its another great achievement too.

It's not hard to rank up, it just takes time. Be honest and you will succeed.
Completely agree with you. Newbies should follow the path of honesty to get the taste of success.

This. The obsession takes away all of us. Like people legit joined the forum back in the day to make a few pennies out of the signature campaigns and they never left. Infact, they will still stay and contribute if signature campaigns stop. TBH, the forum would be so boring without all the drama that takes place here on a daily basis.

Lastly, Happy CakeDay mate, you're one year older. :(

Happy second forum birthday bro. What you have achieved in 2 year really takes a huge sort of efforts and dedication around here that too in a very less time.

Keep up the good work. Good luck fighting scams.

Btw, really ? Which country you are talking about ? ???

I know it was 2009 because I quit my Job early in 2010 and before I quit, my friend and colleague came to me (at work) and said that he read in the news somewhere that the new digital money are on the way, same like the torrent system, I don't remember really what I said back then, but I wasn't so impressed by the news that time.
I'll ask him if he can dig up this article, it was something small and short one he showed me. All happen in Norway.

@iasenko, you know what?
You created your account only one day before I created mine.

Today, I told about my 2nd anniversary here. See (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5169623.msg53070879#msg53070879).

I want to take advantage of your thread and your 2nd anniversary thread to say thanks to you and your very early threads in 2018 and 2019, that inspired me that I can rank up with the merit system and new rank requirements. I impressed with your total log-in time to learn within your very early months in the forum. From your threads and your adventure, I knew I can do it so I have never stopped dreaming and improving myself. Together, we have been self-made Hero members.

I don't say we are at same class of users but having same rank and completely self-made makes lot of sense already.

Congratulations, @iasenko!
