Title: What type of Cryptocurrency is used in the Deep Web for transactions?
Post by: DioBrandoCoin on November 13, 2019, 07:59:11 AM
I know that the deep web mainly uses cryptos as a means of transactions for people who want to buy things over there, but what type of cryptos are mainly used when making those transactions? It’s just a curious question I have in my mind.

BTC, XRP and ETH are the main currencies which most services and marketplaces are accepting, mainly due to their high usage rate plus the fact that they can easily be converted to cash which is what most of them would convert into for tainting the trail even harder. Not all marketplaces and services in the dark web are illegal though, as there are legal entities using .onion domains for visibility to other people who prefer such connection on privacy as well, so the notion that cryptos being used in the dark web is, IMO, not entirely true.

You'd think that the privacy-focused coins out there are most used in the deep/dark web. XMR, Dash, ZCash, BEAM, etc. are the ones that come to my mind, but I think people are changing those coins to BTC as fast as possible just due to the fact they are shitcoins.. Or they might be just using BTC in combination with mixing services.

Bitcoin is very commonly used in the dark web but due to the high transaction fees, some others prefer to use altcoins. Like Monero, Ethereum, Litecoin, Bitcoincash, and Dash. But Litecoin has emerged as the second-most popular cryptocurrency that being used in the Darkweb.

See this link, https://www.investopedia.com/news/litecoin-gains-ground-bitcoin-dark-web/

As we can see, Litecoin has gained 30% that has made transactions in the Darkweb aside from Bitcoin that mainly use.

From experience, I know that the deep web usually accepts mainly Bitcoin and even though it's quite ironic because there are privacy coins which would better fit their MO of privacy, Merchants there prefer to accept payments for goods and services in Bitcoin because it's more popular worldwide, Moreover let's face it, Bitcoin is as private as it gets when you want to transact with full anonymity, this was my experience years ago when I used it though, j don't know if other currencies are being accepted now but with the rate that ethereum acceptance is growing, I wouldn't be surprised if they are accepting it too now.

Point taken yet we can't blame the others if they connote dark web as illegal since mostly of what being sold there is shady and besides that's why they're down there hiding.
All the brokering transactions involving illegal drugs, weapons and any other illegal things you can think of can be bought there.

Moreover, bitcoin is still by far the most common use currency on the dark web. No wonder they portrait bitcoin as evil in the recent movie, Banking on Bitcoin.

I know that the deep web mainly uses cryptos as a means of transactions for people who want to buy things over there

I don't know much about the dark web, but it was interesting to read. It may seem a stupid question but maybe someone helps me to understand.
Theoretically, if a user wants to trade coins he earned in the dark web, would it be correct to hold it during the transaction in case if a user can't prove it was earned legal? Does this kind of action from trading platforms/exchange clear the whole market in anyways?

Bitcoin has always been a mode of payment in deepweb. I heard Bitcoin first with involvement to deepweb, which signifies its widespread use on activities there, however, since deepweb's anonimity, most activites conducted here are illegal. Which impacts Bitcoin's image to public and people have already associated Bitcoin with illegal acts, which is far from Bitcoin's original purpose.

I don't use deep web regular and didn't buy anything till now. sheenshane already posted an image which crypto most use in deep web.Actually It depends on site.Few site's only accept btc,ETH,LTC,XMR.But many sites accept top rated crypto.like BNB,NEO even I saw a site that accept dogecoins. Some sites only accept only bitcoin.People using bitcoin in dark web very less.Because of trx fee and trx time.

deep web people use a lot of different ways to transfer money and only a small part of it is going through cryptocurrencies. methods such as cash, gift cards, and even banks are common.
as for cryptocurrencies like everywhere else bitcoin is the first currency and then because of the demand for anonymity it is Monero and probably used even more than bitcoin.

I have heard before that the deep web basically uses bitcoin to transact, but as the crypto world developed, most of them now use altcoin or other shitcoin like Eth, Dash and Monero between three coins. I think those who are far away on the web prefer to use Monero on the black market because coin privacy, traceability, and Monero transaction costs are generally relatively low, so far it has been estimated to have reached 34k crypto theft.

i think most people are answering this topic emotionally. the fact is we don't have any decent stats to say for sure all we can say is speculation and some small observation.
bitcoin used to popular a couple of years ago specially during Silk Road time. this is the time that many still mistakenly though bitcoin were anonymous. but as they became more aware of the reality and as some criminals were caught, everyone caught on to the fact that bitcoin is not anonymous so they went back to the methods they were using before bitcoin came alone.

the stats by investopedia doesn't look correct either specially as LTC is reported to have the highest percentage and monero the smallest! that doesn't even make sense as monero is the only decently anon coin that we have.
other coins such as ethereum and ripple aren't even considered currencies by anybody to be used for anything other than trading.

When compared to Bitcoin, Monero has been of greater interest to the people using cryptocurrency in the deep web transactions quite often. XMR is based on cryptonote technology and can be used as a completely anonymous currency while bitcoin is transparent and can be used to track on a wider sense. I was once visiting deep web regularly (way back in 2016) and majority of the dark websites have been using bitcoin back then. But after the 2018 pump on majority of the coins, monero, litecoin and dash are being used in a far majority while considering with bitcoin.

Stealth Addresses, Ring signatures and transactions are one of the well known tech which were adopted by monero to make the transactions between the users private and anonymous.

As we can see, Litecoin has gained 30% that has made transactions in the Darkweb aside from Bitcoin that mainly use.
Litecoin is more or less a popular fork of bitcoin with mining algorithms, confirmation times and total circulation being the only major difference between the two. Whereas Monero and Dash are far more different from bitcoin AFAIK. Not sure why Dark web users prefer using LTC instead of XMR  ???

@OP this topic fits better in Altcoin Discussion rather than Bitcoin Discussion

The dark web does intrigue me to be honest but I wouldn’t have any idea how to access it. Does anybody have any experience of it?

I presume you use Tor but what do you even search for, how do you access it?
Tor was initially created to protect USA communications but it has taken a far bigger picture than it has intended to be  :o You could access non-indexed web pages and more importantly the .onion URLs by staying anonymous. Your IP gets connected to a TOR entry Node which further connects to another middle relay node and thereby finally reaching the exit node. The exit node will contact server and get back to you with the desired information. While I was using TOR I was very much concerned about my privacy since any wrong doings or downloading malicious content from any of the non-indexed sites will get you into serious troubles of self-doxxing yourself. I own a raspberry pi and have Kali Linux installed with it and subsequently use TOR. Visiting hidden wiki will help you get started with accessing various hidden dark websites.

Well if you need to stay truly anonymous you could use TOR but accessing any of the hidden sites very often will get you into unnecessary troubles in future.

I thought the deeponion is also being used there. I'm not sure if there are merchants in out country that sells stuff in dark/deepweb right now but the last time I tried visiting there was none. There would be 3rd party escrow I guess or  smartcontract when making transaction I guess in deepweb. If LTC is mostly used in deepweb the fact that they don't have privacy feature, there would be no need for privacy coins why create one?

A lot of the people that care a lot about privacy are using DASH and XMR, since they are 100 percent the safer option compared to other coins that have a open ledger for transactions.

However, a lot of people don't know about them and are under the impression that they are shitcoins, so they will use BTC mostly since it provides a level of anonymity and also is much more convenient to use than other options, and usually since they are frequent users, it makes their lives a lot easier.

Maybe before the alts became popular and been tested to have low transaction fees and more effective in terms of security  and much privacy than bitcoin since transactions can be traced. I was once curious in deepweb but when someone told me that they can track my IP or location they can target me to hack back in College days so I never get curious again.

That is even more than I thought, will people continue to make exceptions for these two coins ?
We know that bitcoin is an anonymous, decentralized and un-centralized currency so most people will consider it to be a very useful currency and will leave other altcoin types to make transactions.
In my opinion, this is a useful adoption for bitcoin, its capacity as a currency is maximized on various types of transactions.

but as they became more aware of the reality and as some criminals were caught, everyone caught on to the fact that bitcoin is not anonymous so they went back to the methods they were using before bitcoin came alone.
I think there is a reason why bitcoin criminals can be found, and that cannot be separated from the rules that have been applied by the government for exchange. Bitcoin will remain anonymous as long as criminals do not convert them into fiat currency somewhere or exchanges that require users to complete KYC.

Wouldn't it make sense to use only the privacy coins on dark web ?
This is interesting data because i though people should have used XMR or other privacy coins more on dark web making it even to difficult to track the transactions.

I'm not entirely sure what are the tokens have been used in deep web since I got no access on it but thanks for this information. We all know that Bitcoin is hundred percent being use in this kind of transaction but make me wonder is why Litecoin? Probably because it has low transaction fees, faster processing compared to Bitcoin and can be stored in offline as well. Accoding to investopedia, way back 2017 Monero, Ethereum and Bitcoin are the token preferably use by folks in the deep web market, now is Litecoin, it seems the coins being used in this transaction are changing every year.

I feel like the use of cryptocurrency on the black market to do all the illegal transactions has played a big role in the bad idea and vision that many people have on it, especially from the media which creates movies and stories about hacking and breaking the law using bitcoin, it is true that on the black market you could use any of the top cryptos on the market to buy services and things that are shady to say the least, but you could do that using fiat and you will get away with it, in our current time every system could be abused and used for the wrong reasons so it makes no difference.

Its speculative that is why it is never suggested to have some transaction in deep web because you can't easily say people's true intention, it is the reason why some people ended up feeling remorse after making transaction within deep web because of losing their funds and assets. I'm actually curious about what is going on there but there is something about it thats makes me afraid maybe the thoughts and opinions of other people towards it. Well as far as I know they are usually using bitcoin.

Bitcoin is still very much the dark web‘s favorite cryptocurrency, but those looking to cover their tracks are slowly learning to use privacy-focused alternatives.

The main developments regarding this trend are on the Darknet markets, several of which also accept Monero, or in some cases exclusively trade in it.

It depends on whether you are engaged in legal or illegal business. If you are going to be involved in legal business, the receiver will not look for privacy. However, in illegal business untraceable coins are more preferred. Anyway, if you are a buyer, the seller will tell you how to pay.

If you're just talking about the marketplaces, Monero and Bitcoin are two of the more popular ones I've observed being used over the years surprisingly, and even though by logic it makes more sense to use Monero for its generally better security and anonymity, most places primarily accept Bitcoin and then other alts like Monero and Litecoin when possible, especially recently. Bitcoin still being so popular on these sites is probably at least a minor part of why mixers are still as popular as they currently are too, though there's also a large number of people who use mixers that just want to stay at least semi-anonymous.

I don't dive there but before it was bitcoin to be the top choice but when bitcoin is going mainstream it was changed to Monero because it's anonymity. There's still a lot of transaction that happens there which is paid through bitcoin because this is the most preferred coin of merchants there.

We now have an idea on what's the other altcoin that's also being preferred by most people there, I didn't expect that it's gonna be Litecoin.

I think anything can be used as long as there is an agreement between the seller and the buyer. But usually, what I see most sellers choose to accept bitcoin as payment. Some have received with ethereum. I only saw someone posting it because I haven't opened the deep web for a long time. But it will not change until now. Yes all returned to each person. Because buying and selling should not be too entangled.

I am also curious about it, so most of them are using litecoin instead of bitcoin and ethereum as I saw that only 9% are using ethereum. What in my mind when I saw this topic is that they should be using bch and ethereum.

But I never though dash and litecoin are the top 2 currencies of deep web transactions, I understand litecoin but dash is currently rank 22 in coinmarketcap so I am a little bit surprise by their choices of transactions.

In general, content on the deep web (including the dark web) contains the following:

Selling weapons without a license
Child pornography
Selling malware, pirated software and hacking instructions
Selling illegal drugs
Sell stolen credit card information and user accounts
Selling fake documents and currency
Recruit killer
Gambling
Money laundering
Interior exchange

Bitcoin still is the primary crypto payments in dark webs. Bitcoin mixers can still be used in particular countries if it isn't illegal to them but some crypto coins are also used like litecoin and xmr. And I've heard this before, i forgot where i read it here in the forum. Since Monero has a strong privacy content and features, it was the most widely used crypto coin payments in dark web.

Yeah, no doubt that bitcoin still reign as the top crypto being used in the deep web because cyber criminals still thinks that it is (psuedo)anonymous. And according to Chainalysis, Bitcoin Criminals Set to Spend $1 Billion on Dark Web This Year (https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-07-01/bitcoin-criminals-set-to-spend-1-billion-on-dark-web-this-year).

And that's why up to this day, governments around the world are still taking a hard line stance against Bitcoin because of this data and I think criminals will still used it even though there's privacy coins such as Monero.

One of the recent study put bitcoin on the top spot. Deepweb is already a heaven for anonymity and bitcoin just adds up to that. Bitcoin is readily accepted in almost all of the sites accepting payments.
Monero comes in the second, the most used privacy focused coin. Monero is specially popular with illegal drug traders.

I can not say for sure that this one is being used on the deep web. I used to surf the deep web a long time ago, but I have never traded with anyone. In fact, i think most of the useful ones can be used. In the past, only Bitcoin was reliable, but now the market is much larger. There are other choices to choose from.

Bitcoin used to be the top choice but the deepweb terrain has changed a lot ever since it is proven that Bitcoin's privacy is not comparable to the likes of Monero and other coins that are focused mainly on privacy features. And then since the crypto world is getting bigger with a lot of other coins that offer lower fees and faster transactions, there seems to be no more monopoly of coins used in the deepweb.

While you are correct here that these are most used and also not all the deep web are illegal, I think OP was looking for the specific answer to the illegal one which uses mostly BTC, XMR and sometimes DASH too. I don't have much idea on these although but I am pretty sure that BTC & XMR are the most used. There are so many privacy coin like XMR, DASH, ONION, PIVX etc which ensure private transaction but not each of the coins are not accepted because of the liquidity problem.

AFAIK,they will accept bitcoin on most sites because I visited many darkweb sites and found bitcoin as the payment option.I never found any altcoins for payment method since I am not using darkweb much, just google will be enough for me.

all I know is bitcoin and privacy coins like Monero that are commonly used there. but there are some people who say DASH, XRP and ethereum are also often used. but honestly I'm a little doubtful about that.

bitcoin was the first choice for transactions on the deepweb. but after popular menero, XMR was number one.

if this crypto is an anonymous transaction, I think all crypto in all types of coins can be used for transactions there. only the contact address is written there and our name will not appear there, and the only recorded in the blockchain ledger is our address and our transaction. it is enough to conduct transactions there, because clearly crypto is different from credit cards or accounts. but I suggest never to carry out illegal or negative transactions using crypto so that the government does not increasingly prohibit its circulation.

There are BTC and Monero, but majority of transactions on the deep web are done using Bitcoin because it is widely used. some marketplaces could try to shift over but it would be a big risk since they could loose all there customers who would rather only pay in Bitcoin. however, IP addresses are displayed and recorded by full nodes clients during transactions and anonymity is one of the primary concern for deep web users. thereby, I believe Monero is a popular alternative that anyone can trust. Right now, it is a tool in the privacy arsenal and it's far and away the best we've got in terms of financial privacy. Not only that, but it's improving all the time.

bitcoin is the most commonly used, but there are also people who use monero (XMR). XMR has recently become popular since bitcoin transaction fees are quite expensive. XMR is an alternative choice for those who are in the deepweb.

I do not really know because I have never done transactions on the deep web, I am too afraid to enter the deep web (dangerous). I've ever read, Monero [XMR] is the most widely used for transactions in there because it is private and untraceable.

For the cryptocurrencies used in the deep web, you don't need a rocket scientist to come and tell you that at least five to ten of the top cryptocurrencies on the crypto market are widely accepted on the deep web for transactions. To get more information regarding the crypto coins used on the deep web, trying browsing through the deep web, that will help clear all the doubts in your mind..

I've never actually been on the dark web and don't plan to, but I've read a lot about cryptocurrency use there on bitcointalk.  Silk Road was famous for accepting bitcoin and I think btc still remains the dominant currency for dark markets.

I agree that you would expect coins with more privacy features to be used, regardless of the legality of what's being purchased and I'm not sure why coins like monero and dash aren't very popular on the deep web.  They can still be converted to cash but maybe not as easily as bitcoin can be...?

As in October this year  U.S. and Korean authorities busted child porn criminal, they use Bitcoin as payment method.
It drive me crazy that bitcoin gets associated with that bullshit and that the association gets reported in the media as if bitcoin was the culprit, which it clearly isn't.

I also thought Onion is made for that but as per their website stated "Important Note: We do not use referral links or receive payments from any darkweb market" , I thought before as it is advertised as an anonymous cryptocurrency which all crypto should be apparently no longer these day but onion also says that they allows to privately send high-speed transactions.  There might be different alts uses this days by different transactions in darkweb like ltc,eth and etc. depending on fees.

even there are many better privacy coins, but bitcoin is still the most for this case

Bitcoin is transparent crypto that has all the transaction recorded in the blockchain and still being used for dark web anyway although the majority of transaction might just be a legal transaction and minority of them is illegal but I do support if there's initiative from the government to fight against any illegal activities even if it involves Bitcoin so that it may reduce the usage of bitcoin for illegal transaction. The exponential growth of the bitcoin transaction in $ might somehow correlate with the fact that bitcoin price has spiked up significantly compared to in 2012 but well I don't have so much data to speak of it anyway.

See this link, https://www.investopedia.com/news/litecoin-gains-ground-bitcoin-dark-web/
https://i.imgur.com/PGlnPzj.jpg

As we can see, Litecoin has gained 30% that has made transactions in the Darkweb aside from Bitcoin that mainly use.
Nice analysis here, I learnt from it. I used to think mainly Bitcoin and Monero are mostly used for dark web operations, until I saw this point of view. How come LTC takes 30% of transactions by vendors on the darkweb? I thought privacy coins could have been more suitable for this purpose, well Monero and DASH are widely used too.

The dominance of Bitcoin is the reason why it is used widely in dark web. The anonymous altcoins also share the most used places in crypto transactions of Deep Web but the lack of transparency opens a hole in the underground which is main stage for entering another side of online world. The XMR, ZCASH are main payment gateway of the anonymous crypto transactions afaik.
Usage of crypto currencies in the dark web and deep web is free choice of hackers. Why am I just talking about hackers, because only they are smart enough to hide their digital marks efficiently. Bitcoin is the most expensive asset. It is also the best one when it comes to providing anonymity so it naturally becomes the first choice of hidden webs. Staying anonymous is most important for survival at such places.

The liquidity that's available is maybe one of reason why bitcoin is chosen and the fact that almost all people in the world know atleast ever heard of bitcoin that making it easy for them without the need of further explaining. I only hope that bitcoin is not being misused by some scumbag to do something illegal because that'd simply destroy the image of bitcoin although those people are only really small portion of bitcoin users. Those privacy coins also contribute to facilitates transaction I mean we actually dont really need true anonimity if we dont deal something illegal and I could imagine why many exchanges start to ban privacy coin.

we can say that bitcoin is the first digital currency and has the highest value. It is also not very easy to track its transactions and find the owners. People who deal in dark and deep web are definitely like the common users of internet. They are the tech geeks and all of them chase money. It is only about money in that world. Anyone that want to purchase anything or make use of the deep web will make use of the privacy coin more because they are the ones that can really give full privacy protection aside the other top coins that are decentralized like bitcoin, which anyone can also use the chip mixer if they don’t want the transaction seen at all to the public for them to even try tracing it.

For privacy coins, I think that Monero is still the most active one, people use Monero a lot for this purpose and that is why when it comes to the king of privacy coin, it is Monero, but I think that in the future, the government might want to go after some of these privacy coins when the regulation starts and coins like Monero and the rest may really go into extinction leaving us with ones that can regulate.

The deep web is the most anonymous and private part of the web. Identities are hidden there more than anywhere else because the transactions could involve the most illegal transactions in the world. Maybe there are other cryptos being used but I am not surprised that these coins are being used because there are the huge names in this industry which is enough for people to trust using it. The answer was: "There isn't enough volume, dude :)"
This was the moment I realized how huge the deep web markets are. They actually need the BTC's volume to be sustainable, and ETH's volume is not nearly enough for them   :o

The popular ones. I have read alot about such stuff but I am not pretty sure about the deepest reason why they use it as a mean for transaction. They use bitcoin, maybe because way back then bitcoin is the most reliable one due to the fact that it was the very first one created, and because of that reliability that it offers made people under the surface net made more interested on using bitcoin as a their mode of payment.

A normal person would say the stupidest thing on the deep web. 70% to launch crime, 20% a hotbed of fraud and stupid things, and 10% as a learning medium. what I know is that they primarily accept transactions using Bitcoin, ETH, LTC and Monero. Monero is more interested because it was developed initially focused on privacy.

In my opinion, XRP, ETH and BTC are common currencies used as a means of transaction for everyone.

Most likely do transactions with a coin major, perhaps like. BTC, ETH, XRP etc, who knows.

like if you don't know it you can see a reply from some people before. here he attaches a site that discusses the use of crypto currencies there

See this link, https://www.investopedia.com/news/litecoin-gains-ground-bitcoin-dark-web/
https://i.imgur.com/PGlnPzj.jpg

As we can see, Litecoin has gained 30% that has made transactions in the Darkweb aside from Bitcoin that mainly use.
You need to read the replies that are already there before giving a reply

Interesting to see Dash battling with Litecoin on the dark web.
It does seem to correspond with the transaction numbers on their network : https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/transactions-ltc-dash-xmr.html#6m
(Monero transactions are included to demonstrate that Monero is simply not that much used during this bear market in comparison to other networks, it seems to be failing its primary use case)

Transactions conducted at Deep WEB are mostly transactions that are against the law, such as the purchase of illegal firearms, cannabis, methamphetamine, human trafficking and many others. Bitcoin is the choice to make transactions more secure and anonymous. Transaction users will not be tracked because it is indeed anonymous. Bitcoin is the most common coin and is most often used for payment on the Deep WEB.

I know that the deep web mainly uses cryptos as a means of transactions for people who want to buy things over there, but what type of cryptos are mainly used when making those transactions? It’s just a curious question I have in my mind.

I have never used or seen where some one use deepweb before but as per the information about what deepweb is capable of i think its better for deepweb users to use privacy coins for anything they want to buy on the deep web

I think the most commonly used by people in deep web is bitcoin because alot of people when hearing cryptocurrency and anonymous transaction is only "bitcoin" the commonly known in cryptocurrency in my opinion.

actually there are quite a lot of anonymous coins, and I think using bitcoin on the deepweb site might increase transaction fees. and I saw some previous answers that said that there were waiting for transactions on Monero, eth, bitcoincash, dash and litecoin

Any crypto coin that is decentralized and anonymous, including Bitcoin. Some users are also using mixers in order to fully block someone from tracing the private/exclusive transaction. This is the reason why a lot of mixers are currently existing and being watched by the government at the same time. On the other hand, I don't think they can stop them in making anymous transactions since there are a lot of alternatives also.

Bitcoin rules most of the market. The reason is it being the first crypto currency and then highly decentralized with huge profits in return. The amounts asked are also big ones. Most of the forums and chat rooms ask 5 bitcoins to become the VIP member of them. Ethereum comes at second but to be very honest, I have not seen xrp being used in deep-web. It appears on surface web more due to centralized nature.

Mainly Bitcoin. Monero s gaining traction. Bitcoin have most widespread ecosystem so people can acquire it easiest. They are not worried to being traced, since they believe law enforcement will not go after people buying weed, but will go after bigger fishes. Reality is that they will go after them to help them get bigger fishes.

There are also other anonymous currencies like Deep Onion, Zcash but these may not be as popular as other cryptocurrencies.  The fact that Bitcoin and Moreno are popular and long-standing cryptocurrencies so I'm not surprised they are used a lot on the deep web.

Its interesting to read previous responses in this topic as I have been out of loop with the whole "dark market" scene for the past couple of years. Back in the golden days of Agora and Silk Road, BTC was still the main player on the street, but now I am noticing that a hefty number of them have changed to Monero, a move that is not surprising at all.

my guess is that people there are considering the liquidity of certain coins to minimze the value fluctuation thus chosen Bitcoin which has known to be the most adopted coin and have the biggest liquidity while in the other hand monero is anonymous though the liquidity is just sufficient. But, I always wonder whether those people in the deep web are making their own altcoin aswell since the deployment is quite simple if using an already existing smart contract platform. That actually makes sense and have the possibility since making their own currency that is not know to the public could lead to lesser attention.

In the past when cryptocurrency was still unknown and there was only bitcoin, deep web transactions only used bitcoin as a means of payment between sellers and buyers on the deep web. What they sell are illegal goods that are against the law. To overcome the tracking of users, the payment is using bitcoin. But now payments can be made with several altcoins such as ethereum, doge, XRP and other altcoins. It is very dangerous to enter the deep web if you are just a beginner.

It's true that deepwed is commonly uses cryptocurrency to make transactions to buy things that you can only get from deepweb. The cryptocurrency that they used to make transactions are bitcoin, ETH, XRP, and so on because these coins is popular and it has a good value.

Honestly, it is also the reason where my friend started to know about bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies through the used of deepweb, which he knows that he can earn money from investing to it.

If you look closely, they already have their own coin, the Deep Onion.  This cryptocurrency project is supported by many coders but also cannot escape the exchange manipulation.  Although the liquidity of this crypto is not good, it is technically very anonymous.

Deep web is the legal part and things you can buy from there are available on surface web too. It is dark web that is a bit different, a place where all the dark buying and selling takes place. Definitely, not something to visit or even think about. Crypto currencies are decentralized and this is the major reason why these are used there. But the value also matters. Bitcoin is used the most due to its worth.

I think in using deep web transactions and for buying online transaction we always used bitcoin or eth because all we know that those coin are the most popular and most progressive coin here in crypto world so people always trust and comfortable to use those coin in online transaction or even in short or long term investment.

That's would be Bitcoin owing to its prominent nature, although ETH is used to owing to its faster transaction rate. But that doesn't mean other cryptocurrencies aren't used, it all depends on the website and their preferences, then on you the customer and the coin you can lay your hands on or the cryptocurrency which is readily available to you at the moment.

In the deep web, it's mostly bitcoin that is used but it all just basically depends on the merchant, who remembers the silk road scandal? It was mostly bitcoin but we have to admit that times has changed and some alts are being used these days like ethereum but Bitcoin is still the dominant cryptocurrency there because it's much easier to convert to cash in many countries in the world than any other Cryptocurrency.

Those of them that are serious with privacy will be making use of coins like Monero and Zcash since those coins provide more privacy than most other cryptocurrencies there is. But Bitcoin is more popular and a lot of people make use of Bitcoin than any other coin there is, I hardly see anyone mention anything if not Bitcoin and sometimes Ethereum. So the main coins they will be using there is Bitcoin and Etheruem, and those that have Monero and Zcash will also like to do transactions with it.

So, when it comes to which coins are more popular, you have Bitcoin and the Ethereum, and when it comes to privacy you have Monero and Zcash. If there is any other, then I'm not aware of it.

Bitcoin is the most used cryptocurrency in the world but when it comes to the deep web and darknet site the crypto people used mostly are Monero with the inclusion of other privacy coins. Although, we have a situation where people use bitcoin but the payment is done through genuine tumbler site or wasabi wallet.
