Title: Can blockchain infrastructure be used in healthcare?
Post by: TaliskerDarkStorm on November 13, 2019, 07:32:13 PM
Some steps have been taken to use blockchain technology to store, protect, and make patient data decentralized.

Because in most hospitals around the world, patient data can be easily manipulated, and some people manage this data and benefit from it.

Do you think it's right to store patient data on the blockchain? Is it safer and more privacy-oriented?

Blockchain has the power to bring out a massive breakthrough in the healthcare ecosystem as it can easily bring specific changes in the healthcare management of the patient. With the aid of this technology, the power will come back to people’s hands. Meaning that individuals will be responsible for handling their own records thus, getting the overall control of their own data.

The technology holds the ability to successfully improve patient care quality while maintaining the funds at a reasonable rate. All the challenges and hindrances that occur in multiple level authentication can be eliminated through blockchain. With the increasing adoption rate, Blockchain has made its way to the healthcare sector. Even in its beginning stage, the technology is being positively accepted by people in the healthcare ecosystem.

The comprehensive vision for blockchain to disrupt the healthcare sector in the coming times would be to resolve issues that afflict the current system. Imagine a healthcare system where all the information is easily accessible by doctors, patients and pharmacists at any given time. Blockchain allows the creation and sharing of a single common database of health information.

This will certainly be a breakthrough in science, since it will be easier for scientists to draw some conclusions based on the huge data collected around the globe that will be stored on the blockchain. And then I think everyone understands that on the basis of these data they will be able to invent various medicines and so on. But all the medical ICOs that entered the market in 2018 could not achieve any results, but maybe we will see this in the future. I think all the members of this forum have heard about such projects as Shivom and medchain, now there is no news from them.

I believe that blockchain should be used in medicine, and the fact that it is already being implemented in some hospitals is amazing. the education system in all countries of the world should also do the same

Blockchain technology is highly compatible in every sector of the economy , health inclusive. There have been several medical and health projects, most especially those that deal with data collection, that have integrated some useful and innovative ideas on blockchain. It can also aid research on health and healthcare.

Blockchain technology is nothing but the decentralized ledgers so yes its better to store data in bloakchain than centralized nodes so there will be no chance for manipulation if it has more number of nodes.

Actually, blockchain technology can be implemented in many sectors. And about the healthcare, actually, there are several projects of healthcare based on blockchain technology and create a certain cryptocurrency.
The implementation itself can be in their system, administrative, financial, or even other types of blockchain utility. Of course, a real use case system will be worthier.

Blockchain has the power, capacity and potential to be implemented on any platform, sector, system and/or Industry, all that is needed is the team piloting the idea, Implementation or development to have the adequate knowledge and experience to carryout such feat. There have been many healthcare platforms based on blockchain but sadly most if not all always encounter one issue or the other. I don't think I can count upto 3 which is really standing. Nevertheless, if the team is capable they can launch a healthcare platform on blockchain, but let it be unique from what is known.

Well im pretty sure that if the blockchain is stored inside the hospital’s computer it is the same as centralized blockchain and can still be manipulated different if the blockchain is stored across different hospital in the country then it will be hard to manipulate. If I’m not mistaken there are some project that are working on creating the blockchain for medical purpose but now the news from them are never heard of. Maybe the implementation is still hard for now.

It can easily be tracked so its a good idea for a healthcare to use blockchain technology. Every business have their own system and server to input data, some of those are not safe at all so if a hospital saw the importance of blockchain technology they might start now to adopt. Healthcare consist of so many transactions and if its with blockchain then we can see a faster transactions to claim our benefits.

It could be with some possibility that if the patient data can be published very good if using blockchain.
Now the blockchain is already widely used as in China to be a national digital currency and in the U.S. for their airforce so I am sure it is very able once for them the adoption of such technology.

It can't right now because the blockchain itself still needs more research to be used in various sections like healthcare. So many icos have been doing it and that's a non-sense idea. When it will be related to store the data of the patients and then side chain itself is enough to do that.
People are talking about speculation about the usefulness of blockchain for the health care industry but they don't think about when it will happen while we are not yet finished to use blockchain in the economic system which can be considered as the easiest section for blockchain implementation.
The pre-assumption looks good when you are imagining blockchain as something that simple can be implemented or combined with various things but when it comes to the real implementation and here we go, we will see the difficult time to do that.

ill give that a read, thx.
imo healthcare is one of the best possible use cases for blockchain possible, speed and transparency, all in one. i think its fine, the data can still be there yet private
I have seen a few projects start work in this area, none seem to be still around tho, not sure if regulation or what killed them :(
It must be a major hurdle tho, as we havent seen it completed yet even when other major services like banks ARE completing blockchain services... : /

Yes that is truly correct mate we can't stop the new technology continue to grow up adoption by the business to make easy ways for the data system.

Which is very compatible to implement securities using blockchain system. Blockchain adoptions helps many sectors of the economy it's a matter
how the company or institutions being ready to adopt and start embracing the system for the betterment of their company/department.

This also a good way of introducing and helping this industry to have a wider range of scope for the business.

Of course! Blockchain technology can be definitely be applied to the healthcare industry and there has been a couple of projects before tackling this kinds of issues in healthcare and aiming to solve it through the use of blockchain tech.

But unfortunately, these projects suddenly gone inactive, maybe they have succumbed due to the crypto winter of 2018 that we've experienced or maybe some did an exit scam. :)

I am thinking how would it work. I am not a fan of storing a huge amount of data in the public ledger, but i think that zero knowledge proof could benefit that area a lot because there is a lot of sensitive information in healthcare that needs proof but i myself for example don't like when one doctor can look up my whole embarassing medical history.

For me blockchain can only be used as a means of processing data and some asset of some hospital. But improving one's health care is I dont think so. I already see some healthcare projects that bloom before but I can't see them now, meaning their purpose wasn't achieved?

Can anyone give me a platform that is literally used in health system? I just wondering if they're project is still  been active and if hospital establishment has been relying to them.

Blockchain technology can be used in any sector, from financial, business, healthcare, education, and anything that contains data and information. If blockchain technology will be implemented in healtcare, datas will be more accessible and secured which will be even more convenient for everyone. Individuals will be responsible for securing their healthcaren information.

previously I had followed the Bounty which had an innovative goal About patient data that was integrated with blockchain. But the project that was developed seems not successful. This innovation is good and beneficial for prospective patients. Existing data on the blockchain can be directly integrated and specialist doctors can immediately find out about the illnesses suffered by patients. So all data about the history of the disease and others have been stored. If this project is developed again it will make the World Health more advanced and faster in handling patients.

Yes it is not a new thing that blockchain is used in healthcare. There are those who have preceded it, such as medicalchain, cryptotec, coinhealth and others.
I strongly agree if patients can see their own health data anytime anywhere. This can also be a reference for other patients suffering from the same disease so that treatment can be done with the same.
Storing data on the blockchain is also safer than on paper which can be damaged at any time or on digital files such as ms. words or excel that can be affected by a virus.

Yes, it is very possible. In fact, the blockchain technology is currently being in use by many healthcare providers in various ways. There are also countless of crypto projects whose focus is the healthcare niche. The healthcare niche is the focus of such projects as Docademic, Medicalchain, Medichain, Mediccoin, Medibloc, and many more.

I guess it is not only right but better for a patient's data to be stored in blockchain. That would protect its privacy and security even more.

I think you are talking about Patientory, which emerged in 2017 in this same field of patient's data! I believe there were two other projects with the same intention but I forgot their names! One of the projects were even promoted by John Mcafee. But none of these projects survived for even a year!

Now frankly tell me, will you buy a webspace by paying through tokens to store your medical data on a third party company server just for the sake of maintaining a record? You probably already have files placed at your wardrobe with the physical medical data stored in it that you had provided to your medical insurance company for claiming the amount? Isn't it? Speak to your insurance company and see if they are willing to accept digital records for claims settlement. I am sure, you would hear "NO"!

These kind of initiatives wouldn't survive if patients have to pay money to store the data. Instead, global medicine conglomerates and medical insurance companies have to come forward to create a global infrastructure where the data can flow freely whenever authenticated by the owner of the data! Without involving these parties, such kind of initiative will not survive in today's world!

One of the characteristics of blockchain technology is being public and broadcasted, does that mean that patient's information and profile would be public as well? In my opinion, there are ways to secure privacy since blockchain has the capability to make a record anonymous, it is applicable to patients information to utilize the blockchain technology. In fact, this in kind of transition is already been implemented by IBM. We can look at this Article (https://www.ibm.com/blockchain/solutions/identity)

Majority of people believe blockchain technology make and broadcast transaction public which is not. However, patient medical record will be lock away from the public ledger and only the person or parties with the right smart keys or authentication code will have access to patient medical details.

Although, crypto currency showcase blockchain to the world while blockchain also showcase crypto either but if a government endorsed blockchain that doesn't mean they will appreciate crypto currency (an example is China which appreciate blockchain but still detest bitcoin).

Blockchain technology should be able to provide solutions for health infrastructure. With safer and integrated data, the healthcare industry can use blockchain technology to keep patient data confidential but can be accessed by all hospitals in need. This will be useful for health research and for patients themselves because with complete and safe data, the chances of patients being given the right treatment are greater

Of course blockchain technology is very applicable to technology in the field of health, especially regarding the safety of each patient's data. As we know this Blockchain is the most advanced technology in the world that is very possible to protect the identity of each user's blockchain. With a blockchain network that is applied to a data management system at a health agency for the safety of information of each patient this is a good thing. And I don't think patient data can be manipulated anymore.

A well-prepared article congratulations.
I think that blockchain should be used in all areas of digital data — health, education, e-commerce, e-sports, internet, social media, and more.
Because the decentralized structure of the blockchain will make all of this data more private, and it will also make them secure.
In this way, we will avoid the pressure of third-party companies and will not allow them to market our data.
We will prevent not only third-party companies but also governments from accessing and changing our private data
