Post by: Baofeng on November 14, 2019, 03:38:29 AM
Code:
 Scammers Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4jjv482f6eDZ-SLgP5afcg

According to this report (https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/youtube-bitcoin-videos-pushing-predator-info-stealing-trojan/) that channel purportedly promoting so called tools to generate a private key for a bitcoin addresses. Meaning newbies can be attracted because all they have to go is to download it and hunt for addresses that has bitcoin in it.

But instead what you gonna get is a malware called
Code:
 Crypto World.zip

Quote
"The file being offered is called Crypto World.zip and when extracted contains a setup.exe file, which includes a password-protected ZIP file containing the Predator the Thief executable.  This setup.exe file currently has 1/71 detections on VirusTotal."

Once running, Predator the Thief will communicate with the malware's command and control server to download further components, other malware, and to send information back to the attackers.

Predator Network Traffic

This Trojan can steal a variety of information and passwords from a computer, including copying the victim's clipboard, recording over the webcam, and stealing files from the victim.

Thanks for the awareness @Baofeng and that Frost is really awesome to find that malware. Just a fair advice if the apps aren't that from a secure site or legit sources example on YouTube then better scan it first to VirusTotal.

I am just hope ng those viewers haven't download and executed that file because if they did then they better change all of their passwords especially those who are deemed important to them. I don't know if there are really tools for generating private keys or if it's really true but I guess that's not the case.

Done reporting. What worries me though is that the owner might engage bots to spam likes and fake comments, luring ignorant users to fall victim in their own greed.

A good trick from the fraudsters, but fortunately there hasnt been a case of loss caused by the fraud attempt. This vidio will only encourage people who intend to steal other peoples assets by gennerate private key from the destination bitcoin address. But the result is that criminals or thieves have been cheated by fraudsters.
In my oppinion, People who want to steal other peoples assets are thieves or criminals, but the method presented in the video will only make the thief lose stolen assets or stored assets. LOL
Thank you for share useful news to us today.

This channel contains only 341 users and there might be same fake users too but since they have a malware script with them, they can spread in many ways including social media, twitter etc. We should be extra careful with our computers if our wallets exists on our computer.

This is common among the scammers they will spam the comments section to lure some newbies. even though the app they offered is fake, they can still execute some codes to get our information on our computer. I need to tell my fellow countrymen about this channel because nowadays there are a lot of our people are learning how to earn bitcoins, I'm afraid that they might fall into this scam.

Reported the channel as well. It's been two days and youtube hasn't acted on it yet.

After the fake youtube giveaways, this is the scammers next trick probably because youtube is so slow in taking down these videos/channels.

Reported the channel and it's good thing that there's a warning like this since many people are still lured by youtubers to try their promoted contents, We need to be vigilant since we are dealing money here and we must be aware on the scamming, hacking and other fooling techniques used by those scumbags so that we will not fall as there victim. And also this should serve as warning to the newbies that not to download anything which is not familiar to them since the risk to get compromised is to high.

You would be stupid to use any executable files on your computer that you randomly download from the Internet.  ::)  I use the bootable Tails operating system to play around with things like this, because it acts like a kind of sandbox for suspicious files.

After I played around with it, I just reboot the computer and everything that was installed is gone, because it boots a new "clean" operating system every time you reboot.  ;D

This operating system is also very small, so you are able disable the internal harddrive and then boot from a memory stick with the Tails OS.

It's going to take a really greedy and delusional person to actually fall for these types of scams but report it anyway. While the channel is still up, leave downvotes on the scammers videos to hopefully make people think twice. The videos still has more likes than dislikes.

Thank you for collecting Youtube channels from scammers. I probably miss your Warning topics so please next times when you make new threads, can you spend seconds to leave a reply in my topic: Scammers on Youtube. Just downvoted the videos and it looks like the channel is intended for hacking and bypassing scripts.
It just awful to think that people will fall for this is also greedy and have dirty plans while it turned out that he will gonna be the one to fall for the trap. A quick karma, instead!

Anyway, thanks for the heads up here.

Isn't that intended to steal peoples bitcoin? I feel nothing for people who download a tool used to steal. They idiots anyway since they the ones who will have their bitcoins stolen while they try to steal from someone else. Brilliant.  :D

I love how at the end of the video it shows an account with 160 bitcoin. Yes because stealing over half a million dollars takes just 10 minutes and all you need to do is download some random app online. Hilarious.
They also go into a lot of detail which amazes me. Imagine going into that much detail showing people how to do something which is basically doing nothing or just faked or it is that method they use that you actually steal from yourself following their instructions.

Even some of the so-called newbie internet guy in today's generation will understand that the whole video content and instruction there is sh*t.

If there's still someone who will fall on that, I don't know what to think about them. And yeah, as you said, only those greedy and delusional people will fall on these.

Reported the video as well. I can't believe the channel has over a year of existence by now.

I've checked the channel and although there's 300+ subs it's worrying that there are newbies that will believe in those videos.

I'll warn others too with this thread, thanks for sharing this.

Scamming would still be on the high side as more and more users get acquainted to the space. Most people's opinions  when it comes to making money is usually fueled by greed and it that pursuit, They get blindly and are unable to see red flags even if it's directly in front of them. I've been safe from some scam attempts thanks to the reminder that if:

This is good effort to inform newbies here on this forum but still its not enough as many newbies in crypto world still going to check channels like this and scammed we have to do some more effort and try to spread on social media as well as this could be more helpful and many members could be safed from this scam.

Such channels are quite frequent. Some low-effort videos, promoted with keywording to come up with specific queries and then the sketchiest software would be promoted to be downloaded. Thanks for putting effort to report them and notify the community. Usually a few reports are enough to take them down, but youtube can take a while to take action.

Still good that it only gathers 300+ subs within a year since it was created.

And for that 300+ subs, I'm sure majority of it was fake unique subs or being organized by the owner. Maybe accounts from friends, families, self accounts.

Reported the channel and I'm expecting Youtube will remove them now one of these days.

Exactly it is a well-done effort made by op.

As long as we're spreading information like this which is helpful to everybody and doing our part, we're good. If others won't be able to receive this kind of alert, it's not our fault though.

I'm also reporting this one, people who views it coming from this thread should also report this channel, the more the better and Youtube will validate that this is indeed a risky channel, the victims and potentials victim are likely newbies, who are attractive to such tools.
I encounter this tool where I have to deposit first to verify my address, before they share me Bitcoin, which I find very illogical.

Reported this channel to youtube, hopefully it will be banned. If this channel continues to grow it is likely that many new people will be scammed.
As more and more scams appear in the cryptocurrency community, we need to join hands to detect and destroy them from the very beginning.
