So I was only 2 weeks (14 activity) away from becoming Hero Member when theymos introduced merit system. It was like someone reset my downloading progress from 99% to 50%.  :D

Then came the giant leap of inactivity due to some personal reasons and real-life commitments for most of the part of 2018 and early 2019. Then in second quarter of 2019, I once again started giving time to Bitcointalk and earned like 40-50 merits in some short span. That motivated me to believe that I still got some posting quality left in me. And then 10th Anniversary Contest happened and it changed the due course of everything! After reading the thread, the idea of custom btctalk cards spring immediately in my mind and here I am : 160 merits on two btctalk cards posts combined.

I would like to thank everyone who liked the idea and gave their valuable merits to me and been instrumental in my journey to become Hero Member.

So what's next:

It would be wrong if I don't acknowledge that I made some good fortune during late 2017 boom. There was a time when grands were floating in my bank account almost every week alone from my Twitter account marketing. All this was possible due to one name - Bitcointalk.

So now it's my duty to give back something to bitcoin community. So here is my course of plan for coming days:
 

• Development of Indian Board. I would like to acknowledge Heisenberg_Hunter who is doing his best for the upliftment of Indian Board. He united us all Indians on forum on Telegram and now his becoming of Merit Source is cherry on the top. I will try to write some informative threads in Indian section which will serve as guide for existing and future bitcoin users on various issues.
• Lately I am occupying myself with coding skills. Now the time has come that I use these skills to develop something valuable for Bitcoin Community. My first try would be to make open-source free payment gateway (merchants tool) ending fee charging tyranny of businesses like Bitpay. Many more to go thereafter.
• I have been contacted by various investors recently who want to collaborate for gambling site with me. But I am very cautious on this one because Gambling Business is no joke. However, my recent potential partnership with Vod supersedes the gambling site idea if we both reach to any consensus on our potential idea.

Well! Congratulations Bro! me too I'm working hard to follow the steps of the hard working members here. Although our way of ranking up is different, the aim to help others is the same. When they first introduce the merit system, I feel like becoming a Full Member is next to impossible. Thanks to our old members who are willing to help Newly contributors, we managed to ranked up and at the same time, helped some newbies to understand some basic things about this community and other important things about blockchain technology.

That sounds cool. You have done it. Congrats. It's easy to rank up to be honest. I have reached full member earlier and now very close to the Senior Member rank. If someone put some effort, it's very easy.

IIRC, I had seen one/two of your threads in Indian board, and some great explanation on taxation. I really enjoyed your thread. Heisenberg_Hunter is a great guy for our local board. If you and other members contribute, we will get an active Indian board.

Big congrats on you new status I see this as a motivation to others that believes this heights can not be achieved or that it's for them. Hope I too can pick out one or more things from your success well it's not about anyone right now it's about you more strength to you as you move on to the next

When theymos introduced it, I was still out there and didn't know this forum.  :)
I joined bitcointalk on April 2018, It means after the merit system has been already applied. But I think there is no problem with this system.
Just enjoy the challenges, keep the dream to rank up, and keep positive contributions to the forum.

Great job on the rank up. There are few members of this forum who are not shitposters and worthy of being merited to higher ranks but dont get that much attention from merit sources but its good to see that you have put in some good effort in giving something back to the community - your card topic and now you got a fine reward in the form of the next rank.

I can understand your delight at this because I was also getting stagnant on earning some last few merits to reach a self-made Senior rank but managed to reach that too last month.

It is really a challenge, a good one, when you get to see other users ranking up, you're surely going to challenge yourself to follow in their footsteps, except of course you do not have any goals on the forum, or you're not a good poster, but if you're not any of that you'll love to pick up the challenge and see how you can also earn merits, to see how long it'll take to get to a higher rank.

The merit introduction challenges users to do better on the forum. Congratulations webtricks on being the newest hero member, and also thanks for this thread to motivate and encourage more users.

Congratulations, for the ranking that you get now, with some of your brilliant ideas, everything you can go through easily is certainly not free from creative and conducive ideas.

Only one more rank to reach (Lagendary), I'm sure you can definitely achieve it, by giving a few more ideas in this forum.

You've finally made it and now you are a Hero rank member. I know what is the feeling that we achieve a new rank since the merit system was introduced by @theymos. This serves us as a challenge and a barrier as well, BUT you have been passed because you deserved it and through your previous work (anniversary card) that contributes to the forum.

As an inspiration to others, to motivate and encourage them. Just keep it up and there's nothing impossible if we work hard.

It almost happened to me before I attained Legendary rank, but I lucked out.  I don't think I would have been too disappointed, since I've never been a forum rank hound but I did want to get to the final rank anyway and I'm glad I didn't have to extend my wait.

OP, congratulations on becoming a Hero member.  I'll keep an eye on your posts and see if there are any worth meriting, which I'm sure there will be.  You've got enough activity such that you might rank up to Legendary if you had the merits today, so at least that part is nearly over with.  As long as you keep posting relatively frequently, you ought to get there in a reasonable amount of time. 

And again, good job on the anniversary cards.

You earned it and you deserved to enjoy every bit of excitement. I have seen a lot of success stories here and it goes me pleasure to see it again and again.

When the merit system first introduced here many people actually thought that the system will fail and people will misuse the system but it turned out that it indeed worked (I am not denying the little misuse we see around but that's acceptable in my opinion.)

I see users are now putting their efforts to contribute in the forum. They are coming up with ideas and sharing it with good constructive posts. Without merit may be we would not see them at all.

What you did is actually cool mate. I like the btctalk card that you've made and seems everyone else too. The idea is attractive, I saw some already using it as their avatar here and telegram as well.

Congrats for being a Hero member now. What you experience is almost same with mine. 1 week left before ranking up to Full Member rank then suddenly merit system implemented. At first, I thought I would be stuck on being a member but I just keep posting quality and helpful to this forum especially on my local group then I attain this rank.

Anyway, congrats again, this is a high achievement you've deserved.

Count me on this one, 1 week more before i become a full member and the new system has come but I fully accept the fact that I have to work very hard just to achieve my goal and now I’m a FM soon to become Sr. member. Congrats to you OP this is the result of your hard work and I know this forum help us in so many ways. About the gambling thingy, it's not that hard to manage once you get the hang of it. All you need is of course the hot/ cold wallets, a dedicated team of staffs/ mods and with your existing marketing tools, and the site will be up and running in no time.

High Risk, High Return. If I were you, I'd love to give it a shot.

It's been a very difficult and a lot of Full of joy to rank up since launching the merit system. Ranking up the ranks is especially difficult for the members of the Central Position because they dream of high rank but can't make it. And they are tied in the middle and looking up to the sky when to rank up. I too was close to the Hero Member when the merit system was launched. But I have yet to become a Hero Member. I hope one day I can be at your prayers. Especially, The Bitcointalk 10th Aniversary Contest has given me a lot of help to earn some merit, especially thanks to theymos and everyone who has given me merit and support.

I don't have a clue at which rank I'd be today if the Merit system hadn't been introduced, but to be frank, I haven't really felt unhappy about the fact that I didn't rank up automatically. It really feels like ages since the Merit introduction. I do remember that the whining in the Meta boards at that time was horribly annoying.

Looking at myself, if I'm totally honest, I believe that my devotion to the forum has only evolved in a positive way, thanks to the Merit system. No doubt the quality of my posts has gone up, because you think twice before posting just anything - but also because of the fact that my knowledge has expanded thanks to the posts of the many other members on the forum. At the same time, I've become more severe for shitposters, because I'm also trying to be more severe for my own posts.

Before I had my doubts about merit system and felt it's unfair to the new members on the forum.
It's obvious that before merits it was much more easy to achieve high ranks in the forum, simple based on the activity and quality was less important 
When I read your opinions  here I feel I was wrong.
Merits system improveda quality on this forum and new members trying their best to write quality and good posts.
Congratulation to all new members for their hard work and accomplishment.

This reminds me of myself, but I was left with 2 less activity for the rank of Hero... :'(

I think getting merit will be very difficult and even impossible to move up in rank.

You are able to develop your potential coding skills for something new in this forum. it was extraordinary.

For now and beyond, I want to learn to make a useful post for this forum and for all members.

Good thing you are on that rank when the merit start to be implemented but still that's a long winded journey for you to reach it to this rank and I congratulate you for that. Reaching a goal makes you more in a high morale mood just keep continue keeping up the good work, it's better not to complain rather work for it. I am nearing to be a Sr. too and I am an evidence as well that merit system really works fine.
