Title: SpaceX Starship Mk1 Exploded on the Test Stand
Post by: BADecker on November 22, 2019, 08:31:04 PM
Do you think this might have been an inside job? Like some of the Blue Origin people sabatoged it?

Starship MK-1 appears to have blown its top off during a pressure test today. My guess... this will be a good time for @spacex to move onto their next, more refined and higher quality versions (MK-2/3) instead of reparing MK-1. @elonmusk, any chance you’ll just move onto MK-3?

It happens. All you have to do is play the Kerbal Space Program fanfare and move along.

But please, don't employ such violent words as "exploded". Everyone in the field knows the proper term to refer to these events, is: "Rapid Unplanned Disassembly (https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/rapid_unplanned_disassembly)". It is a tradition in the industry...

On the other hand this was simply a small scale testing prototype. I'd say it fulfilled its role...

What better way to get rid of it, and collect on the insurance, too.
