The Bitcoin forum is 10 years old! (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5203697.0) hours ago, and the 10 th anniversary art contest (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5193860.0) closed too. Here is the last post of theymos in the art contest: Thanks to everyone who submitted art! I was blown away by both the number of submissions and the number of really good submissions!
I'm not sure that I'll be able to decide on winners today as I'd planned, though I'll try to do it within days. I want to carefully review about 300 of the best submissions. My current expectation is that as many as 100 people will receive some BTC, but a few will receive much more than the others.
For the badges, I think that I'm going to collect the top ~50 most-merited submissions and let the community vote on the winners from among them. But I'm not going to think much about the exact framework of this until I've determined the BTC winners.

I joined the contest with two sparsely initiatives so I am curious that which rank I have (only in terms of merits). I used data source from LoyceV: All posts in Bitcointalk.org's 10th anniversary art contest sorted by Merit. (http://10yearbitcointalk.tk/). Firstly I do it for myself, and now I publish statistics for all you guys. From my criteria 4 (see at the bottom of this post), I stay at the rank 212 (beyond the top 100), with 27 received merits in total. :)
ABSTRACT(1) 673 artists received at least 1 merit. (2) 50% of 673 artists received above or below 11 merits (the median - p50), while 50% of 673 artists have total earned merits in the range from 3 to 41 (the interquartile range, p25 - p75). (3) Minimum and maximum are 1 and 354 respectively. (4) Miminum and maximum of the number of submissions are 1 and 12. 68% of merited artists (473) have only one submission. (5) 4 sets of criteria used (see at the bottom). I would like to use the criteria 4 (rankid4). Results are for fun because Art can not be judged blindly by received merits.

Indicators for each set will be used in orders. For example: with Criteria 4: The first indicator used is total received merits (summerits), in descending orders. Then if 2 users have same summerits, the second indicator (nsubmissions) will be used with ascending orders. That is total number of submissions by each user. The less nsubmission one has, he/she will get higher ranks. The same for third indicator (nsenders), the total meriters of each artirst. I was curious what the merit statistics were like with users who only submitted one submission to the art contest. Seems with the very small data set that I was working with which was ~100 users, around 50% of them submitted more than 1 submission. The highest amount of merit received in this data set was 313, and the lowest 49. My observations is users were updating their art multiple times through the thread, and were collecting more merit for the same piece which have not been included in this data set. Although, I think theymos was aware of this, and seemed to skip over most if not all the updates so his judgement based on total amount of merit per person will still work. In conclusion, it definitely paid off to submit multiple submissions to the contest (as long as they were of high quality).

Update:Now, I sort artists out based on three indicators: - Total received merits (summerits)
- Number of submissions (nsubmissions)
- Number of merit senders (nsenders)
Criteria:- Total received merits will be used first to sort artists out descendinly. - Next, if 2 artists have same total received merits, the next indicator will be used - that is number of submissions. The higher nsenders one has, the higher rank s(he) will get. Because as I said, I think more decentralization is better. But the criteria is for fun, Art can not be judged on statistics. No, from what I can gather from theymos' post he will be rewarding users with uneven amounts of Bitcoin. Although, he has estimated around 100 users will recieve some undetermined amount of Bitcoin with those that are considered the better submissions of the bunch getting far more Bitcoin.

yeah right, around 100 works of art will be chosen and will get a BTC prize, but some will receive more. Maybe the intended rank will receive more BTC than the other lower ranks. I think what he meant was 100 users will received some btc. Theymos mentioned on the rules: - I will distribute at total of at least 1 BTC to the art submissions which I personally like the best, completely subjectively. I might give out more if there are a lot of good submissions. As it turns out that he was overwhelm by the submissions of many members. So the prizes shouldn't be like that of 0.01btc for those 100 users. Some will received bigger than others based on my understanding of what he said in the last page of the art contest thread.

Maybe the intended rank will receive more BTC than the other lower ranks.
I have no idea what you mean by, the intended rank, but the contest is purely based on the creativity and execution of the presented art not the rank of the users involved. Hence the contest was opened to every member of the forum.

I think a combination of summerits, nsubmissions and nsenders is the best. The top winners should be the best, with best art. I think they belong to the top 10 - 20 of winners. So, gathering the top 50 posts according to theymos' merit, and his only. We could get a better idea of who's in the running for badges before theymos posts in a few days time.
It was my understanding that he would be nominating entries for badges based on merit from all users: - Between 1 and 20 (depending on number of submissions) people will receive art contest recognition badges: https://bitcointalk.org/Themes/custom1/images/badges/artcontest.png, based mainly on community consensus of who had the best art. In judging consensus, I will be substantially but not entirely influenced by the total amount of merit your art received. For the badges, I think that I'm going to collect the top ~50 most-merited submissions and let the community vote on the winners from among them. But I'm not going to think much about the exact framework of this until I've determined the BTC winners.

iit'd be nice if more than 20 artists received the artist badge since there are so many good submissions, maybe there's some flexbility to make it a higher number?

No that's not how the 1Btc will be distributed. There were a few entries who will receive more than the others. Maybe a handful among the hundred good entries. Wow ... I just opened this thread. apparently there have been many calculations from several members. and made a ranking too. it seems like this really helped the jury to review the 10th aniversary art contest. can't wait to see the results of the jury. :) :)

Oh!!! I wish I hadn’t seen this. Why are you doing statistics? To upset other participants? For example, I was very disappointed that someone spent the day drawing a picture, took a lot of photos and got 80 points, but I did not have time to do photo sessions; I did my work for 20 days.

Many valuable calculations are presented here by some valuable members of this forum. But I don't know how much it will granted by theymos. Because he says it will only depend on his own or something like that. here. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5193860.msg52793373#msg52793373)
Anyway, I want to mention some points here.
1. Not all of those who received the most merit at the Contest submitted an equal art [ some are submitted only one and some are 1-13]. So the one who received more merit by submitting less art would be the first in my opinion.
2. Members who received the most merit by Theymos: Theymos usually gave more merits on the first art, so if someone submits better art after the 1st one but theymos did not give more merits on the second time [ theymos said this here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5202603.msg53150773#msg53150773) ]. But it is true that what is subsequently submitted is a really good quality art. And I think it may be already marked by theymos. So only it can't be the winner which art received the 50 merits from theymos , even one less merited art also can be a winner.

Let's give more time to Theymos to check all the entries, because choosing the best 100 art is not easy and he must consider everything. Well, I'm just happy that we already received the first prize of the contest and that is the merit, whoever wins on this contest and get the BTC really deserve it. So again congratulations to all the participants and happy 10th! :)

I think he will have his own schedule. The fact that theymos did not announce the result now is a very good sign for worthy participants of the competition, which means that he studies all the work more carefully ;)

Note: All figures above took at 2019-11-23_Sat_06.07h (Amsterdam time) Stats include theymos' sent merits but there are discrepancies between total sent merits in my dataset and the figure given by theymos (due to time lags between two dataset (mine - that I took from LoyceV scrapped data) and theymos').

In the 20417 merit are included theymos' 9991? Or the 20417 are only from the forum users (thus, with theymos' 9991, the grand total would be 30408)?

Just want to say that this activity is truly amazing. This is one of the reasons why the forum keeps on soaring. Theymos and the admin are always on top of the game. Always giving reason why we need to stay in this forum.
Saw the entries and you can say that there are really artists in this forum alone. Maybe most of them are undervalued artists in real life. At least their works have been noticed here. Congratulations to all the winners! ;D
