Title: What do you make of heavily advertised/shilled crypto news sites?
Post by: Bttzed03 on November 25, 2019, 02:11:47 PM
I saw this post (https://archive.md/qeYxm) earlier basically asking for crypto news site promoters. It also explains why we see a lot of them heavily advertised in this forum. I understand that they do these things to generate traffic, earn from ads revenues and compete with bigger sites.

These are some of the crypto news sites that I usually see being posted by the same people or some newbies:
Code:
coinpedia
thecoinrepublic
beincrypto
azcoinnews

I think publish0x is also one of them.

It is a fact that many people still relies heavily on news they get from crypto news sites, most especially the newbies, when it comes to their investing/trading decision. As part of the crypto community and as one of the readers, are you not concerned with what these sites are doing? Would you still trust them knowing that they pay people to promote their articles?

On a side note, I think they should just run a signature campaign here

@mods I am not sure where to post this. I see them posted a lot either in altcoin or bitcoin discussion boards. Please move to more appropriate section.

The purpose of those websites is to inform people and to earn some crypto at the same time as by publish0x is a good idea. But generally speaking it is a waste of time, because those websites are mostly used for paid promotion and earning peanuts.

I mostly make nothing of them. Most of them are actually advertising not because the project concerned is great or something but because they are paid. So, hype unworthy projects just because of their own earnings and nothing more.

Can't blame them. If they are offering money to advertise their news site, then someone somewhere is getting paid for shilling it. It is all business. Just hope people won't fall for fake news and all

As long as the article published is not something that leads to scam, then that's normal. I will not trust if the website advertise some project like ICO or IEO or other things that require to make a deposit for example buying a mining contract

They will not do this because funds needed to run signature campaign more than the way they are doing now, because even if they say 200 euros a month number is only an estimated the actual number is far below that

Its about competition and money making since they do have ads on their pages. Why they are doing it here is because they found out having a good number of backlinks in the forum made them rank on google search results. SEO still is a big thing for them even when social media platforms already had won the game. Traffic to generate money is big considering this  crypto is a new industry, not all people are still here which is why the race to make money out of the newcomers in crypto had commenced.

And they see to it that they hire good content writers and SEO specialists and some bucks don't matter versus from what they could get.

No, I mean we knew in the first place that it's just pure hype so I'll just skip those and besides we have cointelegraph for daily dose of crypto news. Otherwise, some sub reddits channel do have great and amazing community. Don't settle for some BS.

What for? They're making good profit out of their backlinks and click funnel and trolling here is enough for them.

I agree with your opinion that they promote brand websites on this forum to get lots of backlinks. this is one of the SEO knowledge that they apply. So that many visitors come to their website. crypto forums like bitcointalk are the best places to promote their crypto websites. Their income can be from ads that they put on their website and also used to pay people to promote the website anywhere.

why would they run a sig campaign when they are already promoted by someone else  ? isnt that enough for them or what if they dont have enough budget to run thier own campaign  .

no problem on thier credibility for me as long as they are just a new's site or info site  and not a site that grabs money in return for something because i find it shady if they are poorly advertise   .

paying someone else to promote is normal and that is for them to gain visitors  .

The sad part is that if they join the army to spread the fake news like the articles that spread lately about Binance office in Shanghai. There isn't really a way for these new site to verify the things what is written by their authors unless they can provide sources and they got the info correctly.

I don't know either if these article sites are big companies like the Forbes so they could just be spinning articles from cointelegraph or big sites.

Beincrypto are hiring ambassador though and they offer 200€ per month.

Whenever I see people try to promote their project or service with no assured payment to the advertisers then I will get bad impressions rather than good.If they really care about their reputation and want to run their service for long term then they should pickt he right way as signature campaigns but referrals from newbie is just make them more untrustworthy.

I don't trust those sites and even the popular news crypto sites might be doing the same. But the difference of them is that they're already popular and known which is much easier for their advertisers to get their targeted readers.

There's also coinidol which can be found mostly on Press (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=77.0) and many more.

I like to receive news from cryptoapps downloaded in my appstore on mobile.
It is the best way to stay in touch with the most recent events.
Apps-aggregators are way better then usual sites, because mobile program may send you a push message. Also interface is very important feature for modern people.

they just want to increase traffic through a manual aggregator from every competent person. they also build a reputation, if they spread false news, then that will also affect their own blunders, I don't think everything is like that. They can run a signature here if they have the budget for it, but their marketing still focuses only on the quality of the team, website and articles.
