Title: buying mining hardware from Sesterce.com
Post by: EscTel on November 26, 2019, 02:59:17 PM
I came across https://www.sesterce.com/mining mining hardware and found many used miners in good condition and at reasonable rates there. The only problem is there are many good and bad reviews about the website.
There are bitcointalk.org threads where I saw the originator saying the problem is resolved but I saw many people giving good and bad reviews about the site.
Is there anyone who had a deal with them and can share his honest opinion?

You can check this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5154455.0 and decide for yourself if its worth the risk to try on.

Be careful about buying mining hardware to an unknown site like sesterce. Actually never heard on this but this is already being discussed here many times about this website it seems they only get positive answer from newbie which is obvious alt accounts and obvious they use alt accounts to give fake reviews.

If you want to buy brand-new mining hardware without a risk go buy directly to the manufacturers the price is not far to the 2nd hand miner or if you want to buy used miners the only safe way to buy them is to buy on Amazon or Alibaba and use Paypal as payment so that you can dispute the transaction if the seller is scammer.

I've also bought miners from sites like eBay where buyer protection's (extremely) strong and you're able to dispute transactions pretty easily and win most of the time without having to provide a ton of evidence in case things go wrong like when something's not as advertised. As long as you're checking your hardware as soon as you get it especially in the case of used miners from eBay, you shouldn't have any problems.

Another option you can try for used and new miners is to transact through the Computer Hardware section (click for direct link) (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=75.0) and transact with escrow. I've been buying and selling things through these forums for years with few issues, and a reputable escrower should keep you safe.

I wouldn't buy from them. What miner are you looking for? There are loads of better options that don't seem to have selectively ripped people off or sent out used looking gear. I always suggest starting off at the manufacturer, then authorized distributors. I also suggest checking out the forum for what you want. Marketplace->Goods->Computer Hardware (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=75.0) is a good place to post WTB, or look for someone selling. There are also a few brokers there that can help source larger purchases.

I get that companies have to start somewhere, but if they've already had to re brand that's a terrible sign.

There are bitcointalk.org threads where I saw the originator saying the problem is resolved but I saw many people giving good and bad reviews about the site.
Yeah unfortunately there are no details how it was resolved, but I tend to give far more weight to the negative reviews a company has received when I look into them. Keep up your due diligence and don't rush into something.

Who are you fooling around? It's easy to detect both the control of the account by the same person. Old & shady tactics from Sesterce.

ICOs are almost over now, its now time for IEOs. Are you launching your platform in the form of IEO?

This platform is just another crypto exchange or has other features also? There are so many exchanges already in the market, rolling out another won't be of much use.

Don't say it's a coincidence that both of you post in the same thread always.

SESTERCE = SCAM

If you are considering buying mining equipment, it would be best to buy directly from a reputable manufacturer. Mining is a very slim margin business and paying a markup from a retailer is going to make it less likely you will turn a profit.

There is also the issue that it is very difficult to determine a websites reputation because of fake reviews. To my knowledge, there are not any reputable mining retailers.

DYOR before placing the order. These days competitors are very active to give negative feedback about other companies.

I came across such a situation once. The best way to deal this is to place a small order, if it gets through you can order more. There are sites that are genuine and are selling products at cheaper rates then the original vendors.

You can find this article about sesterce useful

You are describing a very good method on how to get scammed for small amounts.

So you are basically interested buying some second hand mining rig from a website because of their price but the thing is a lot of members posted that this website is a scam and the problem with second hand miners being bought online is you will just double your risk of getting something that might not be working in the first place. If I were you I'll just buy second hand mining rigs on people near to me where at least I have the chance of trying out the rigs first if it is working, if you really do wanna buy something online go to sites like ebay and see trusted sellers where I can buy from them this will give you assurance that the item you will receive is working when you receive it or is not fake.

Actually, how to get scammed for large amounts. I have seen quite some scam sites in the past that actually delivered what they promised on the lower valued products/services that they offered, to then disappear when people make a second much larger purchase because trust was gained when the site delivered as promised initially.

It's a tactic scammers on all levels apply. I'm pretty sure that you have heard of mostly gypsy scammers playing some kind of game with tourists where they allow them to win the first few low value bets and have plenty of confidence, to then cheat and win back the money they lost plus a whole lot more.

personally I have never heard of even trying to buy on this site you mentioned..  my advice, don't be haphazard buy mining equipment.  one of my friends had a bad experience about buying mining equipment on an untrusted site.  it's better to buy mining equipment at an online shopping site that already has a good reputation such as Newegg, Amazon, eBay or Alibaba.

I started following sesterce through a scammed acquisition thread. My encounter with them is regarding an issue with my Antminer T17. Though not their customer they still assisted me in resolving the issue.
With fingers crossed. I ordered an Antminer B7 from them and here is what I have got.

How is your feedback about these items? Are they working fine or just a scam?

My new baby ANT MINER S9 SE

Please don't tag me as sesterce rep. Just showing my collection.
You may have been fortunate but other people were not. There were lots of scam accusations and complaints from different individuals here. There can never be any smoke without fire hence the tags... To warn people to be careful when dealing with them. Deal with them at your own risk.
