Title: Where do you stake? Exchange or wallet?

Wallets were created for storing purpose, so if you are going to store your token or coin then pick the right wallet which gives you private keys.

Exchanges are meant for trading only, if you are going to use them for staking then you are in risk of losing funds.

Of course inside our own wallet, many things happened with the exchanges these years and more importantly they are a target of the hacker. The probability for them to screw you is bigger than holding it on your own, I do not have any trust left.
Remember what people said, you do not have the keys that mean you do not own the coins.

Where do you stake?

I prefer staking BNB on binance, which means staking at exchange is my option.

Exchanges are meant for trading only, if you are going to use them for staking then you are in risk of losing funds.
You’re wrong at this point, there’s a lot of exhange that give you bonuses or rewards for staking specific coins at their platform. And if staking at exchanges means a risk of losing funds, then there’s also risk for trading there. Risk can be found if there’s a risky situation made by the exchange. Ex : Th exchange has bad issues regarding trust. There’s few of them, but issue stays issue. But regarding funds, issue needs to be taken seriously.

Its always riskier to stake in exchanges. However I am staking my TRON in Binance. Till now it works for staking as well as all airdrops. But I do have bad experience as well with exchange staking. That exchanged is closed for ever now.

I prefer to keep it in a personal wallet like a hardware wallet or have a private key to access the assets that I have. there is no safe place, but we must be more careful in taking steps, I remember with the words of someone that evil never sleeps. Even what happened lately many crypto exchanges are hacked, especially in Korea. If you want to trade, prioritize looking for exchanges that have strong security and large volumes. Long-term hold is not recommended to store on the exchange, it is better to be stored in a personal wallet / hardware wallet.

I'm safer storing my assets in a personal wallet although there are in some exchanges but for the long term I have locked the assets in the wallet and the key has also been stored in a place was never reached for old age

Best answer is our wallet because we still have control but in exchanges no, sometimes system got error and we loss without can recover. Some exchanges already have stake program but if you keep in exchanges it will use to manipulate others members. So the right answer is wallet and I believe no one will stop you to stake in there.

Using an exchange is too risky, ofcourse there are big exchanges like Binance where you can stake. I prefer using a wallet and stake my alts because I have access to my private key.  On Big exchange you do not. The most important thing in cryptocurrency is your Private key.

it is advisable to keep and stake your coin in your wallet because you have full control over your wallet. just recently we heard about a hack and an exit scam attempt from upbit and idax, what will happen to your coin if the exchange that you choose to hold it goes wrong just like upbit and idax?
this is why you need to hold it in your wallet.

I think the safest exchange to stake on may be Coinbase but even then, I wouldn't put my whole stash into one pot on a centralized exchange ever. Another exchange that offeres a much wider staking option for on exchange staking is Binance.
I think the single best and safest option for staking would be in a wallet where you and only you have access to the private keys. An exchange, whether centralized or not, can still be hacked, jeopardizing your coins.

Well it is a simple question, if you are prioritizing your own safety then you must consider to stake them on your own wallet because you hold the private keys unlike exchange, the management holds it and if the exchange got hacked your funds will be stolen as well. And to take note that other teams runaway and do exit scam.

for simplicity, I prefer exchange. in my opinion as secure, our assets will not be stolen. risking our money on the exchange will make it easier for us if you will later buy coins or save them. while the wallet is for storing only.

Considering the simplies method and the safety of your asset then you must go on staking on your own wallet rather than staking on any exchange site, but I have some altcoin like xlm, algo & trx that I staking on Binance exchange site that I can get free altcoin every month not too large but this is okay for me.

I don't consider staking in centralized exchange for the safetiness of my coins. For storing my coins, I prefer to use hardware wallet; nothing else. In terms of using centralized exchanges, I tend to use it for the purpose of trading in which I'm always watching because it's more vulnerable from being stolen.

Users that stake their coins put them into a wallet that is connected to the blockchain.  By staking your cryptocurrencies you help to secure the blockchain and keep it going. We should stake in wallet because it can help the project.

I do that too for the only NEO token since binance is also distributing GAS. Though its not recommended to store on exchanges, its just that I wanna get it ready for disposal. Back when the price was $13 I bought some of it on June, it dropped but I kept it since I know I'd be receiving GAS. The beauty of haivng it there is that I can trade these NEO when it spike and buy back. I'd still just store NEO there but probably with ETH I'm going to stake using my wallet.

I put my Bitcoin in coinbase, the ERC 20 tokens I put in my IMTOKEN wallet application. Where my money depends on my investment strategy of long-term investment assets I will put them in the wallet I mentioned above. Short-term investments in just a few weeks or months I will put them on a wallet because maybe someone will pump up the price and I can sell them on time. Withdrawals and deposits will not be quick in the execution of the sell order.

I preferred using a wallet on my computer and i feel much safer and stsking is much in realtime i think which gives me more shares than staking on exchange and i cam encrypt my wallet and only do staking which is very secured cannot be hacked easily.

But the only problem using a wallet on pc is the confirmation when making a transaction and needs to fully synchronize on the server for app to go online.

Where do you stake?
I usually staking at exchange Binance because of its high profit. Although staking on an exchange would be a real risk, I think the Binance exchange will not be so bad as IDAX. Although it is the same country, I think Binance can still live because they have too large network and give China a higher GDP index every year.
Given all these factors, I think staking is still quite safe for large exchanges. Besides, the benefits are quite obvious when you will get interest rates higher than the bank to 6% a year.

If I personally risk it more in the form of a wallet than an exchange, because I am more confident in the security of the wallet than there is security on the exchange, although I also have risked it into the exchange, but that is only a little and not in the long run.

It is fine to stake with Binance as I know that they are more safe than other exchange and if someone hacked their exchange there is nothing to worry about because I know that they have insurance and can still pay the fund that I lost, as they are after their reputation too and not only blaming users that they shouldn't hold their assets on exchange which for me is not good.

you do wrong comparison, the comparison must be staking in exchange AND staking in wallet. NOT staking in exchange AND trading.
of course staking in wallet is safer than staking in exchange. many exchanges already being scam and stole investor money. the last incident was IDAX and upbit
Centralized exchange is very risky to safe our money, they can be scam anytime

I am not a fan of putting a huge funds in exchanges because some exchanges there are still passing hackers. so it give me a hard time to think that exchanges is still not the safest thing to hold our funds. as of now my wallet are not failing me to place my asset there. hoping that they improve more their securities to feel safe all users to their funds.

I haven't staked yet and I'm waiting for Eth's 2.0 staking which will be my best staked coins so far. And if that happens, of course as part of requirement I'll choose the eligible wallet that will be required by the devs.

Staking now made easier by the exchanges but I'll be careful with them.

the op's ask for staking a coin and not just simply storing a coin   . still you still have a plus point here because that is also what i think about . i think staking on a wallet or simply storing a coin on a wallet is more safer than putting it on any exchange because an exchange can collapse or hacked but wallets ?  you have a full control on your wallet as long as it gives you your private key's    . the only difference would be the rate's   . i think exchange has a gooder rate's compare to a wallet staking .

After losing my coins on Cryptopia, I only used exchange wallet for trading and never for storing, I am very careful in securing my private key and I don't want to rely upon to exchange when securing my coins, we have seen how they are targetted by hackers, if your wallet is not exposed you are not likely to be targetted, hackers are now very good, they will benefit more if they target exchange than wallets.

Anywhere you have the private keys of your wallet will be a safe place to store your coins, but most of the centralized exchange offers bonus when you stake a coin which means you are not in control of your funds you just trust the exchange reputation which may goes wrong any time.Exchange hacks over years are the proof why staking in an exchange is riskier.

All wallets are of course vulnerable to being hacked but all security is returned to the wallet owner if we can store the security key properly from any wallet it will be safe to use, and at this time I am still using a wallet from ethereum to store erc20 token assets but for other assets like xlm and tokens other than erc then I prefer to use a wallet of each coin for storage.
For staking coins it would take the risk of having a very large one I would rather not use that option.

too risky if staking coins in an exchange wallet.
it is better to store coins in your own wallet that you can store your private key, many variants of options for the wallet you want to use, depending on the type and needs. atomic wallet is also good, can store private keys.

Stay away from exchanges. Wallets will be your best choice to keep your money safer in every respect.
Now I only participate in staking on the gate Io exchange. sometimes there appear very promising coins for staking. It happens that there is ethereum staking at 10 percent per month. and now I participate in the staking of SERO COIN and will receive 50 percent of the frozen coins for 90 days
WOW. Is not 50% too much for 90 days? While others are 7-10% per year, this is suspicious. I have done some research about Sero, but I have not seen any major problems with complaints apart from bounty hunters. Volume is also around 6 million bucks, but I still recommend you to be careful.

I am not too worried about the staking coins method on popular exchanges, I can quickly sell at the best price at that time if it has passed the monthly unlock period.

For some other PoS coins, they have an unobtrusive exchange and reputation, but still profitable, this is where personal wallets are needed to prevent the worst possible, just a little complicated in synchronizing data and transaction models.

An offer that big would look like its going to end like a scam. This project if I remember did n IEO on gate exchange, it quickly gain after it but slowly dumped as well. Maybe because of this 50% growth too.

Staking ETH later might just be a good idea too unless there will be a pool like this one that might cause the dump. Better avoid staking on exchange and the tokens that allow exchange staking.

For longterm storage of token I prefer a wallet that I have access to its private keys. Anything can happen in a year for an exchange especially in this era where exchange COO can just run away with its staff, so what happens to my coin. Exchange and coin project team can have misunderstanding and delist such project, exchange is not a reliable position for any coin for longterm staking. Top exchanges are more reliable but 3-6 month is the best I can go on them

It seems to me that you should not trust the wallet that stores your keys, it’s not known where, because they may fall into the hands of just as unknown and your funds will go in an unknown direction, because there have already been so many different situations where people have stolen funds from the wallet and there were not return, I think it's better to resort to hardware wallets. I use ledger and there is no limit to my joy, as this is the best you could think of for a cryptocurrency.

I think before binance everything did made sense to keep it on your own wallet and stake, or something like a virtual pc VPS type of deal where you can keep it (with protections and backups of course) but after binance I started to feel like maybe the best way to keep your money could be binance?

I am not really entirely sure and I haven't moved my money there just yet but I feel like binance is such a huge place that they could not only help you get faster payments on your staking (the amounts are same but bigger amount gets paid faster so when all of us combined we get the same money but faster and smaller instead of bigger and longer) but also might start on masternodes as well.

For example, one dash masternode was around 1000 dash if I am not wrong which is not something everyone can do, but if 1000 people get together it becomes much easier.

Obviously staking in compatible wallets with good reputation is safer than staking on centralised exchanges comparatively. However, some coins do not have personal wallet support for staking especially  on mobile, and you know most people make use of mobile devices presently, hence people tend to use supported exchanges in this situation.

Never ever trust exchanges to stake. Firstly you will never know if the taking some off the top since there is compounding interest. Secondly, there is the possibility the exchange will run an exit strategy or something happens and they go offline you lose everything. If you do not have the privatekey with you in your wallet then you do not own the coins. The privatekey is with the exchange and you are at their mercy.
There only reason people use exchanges is mostly for staking with masternodes since they are very expensive.

Both, some exchanges do not support particular tokens, or exchanges are just trustless. The majority of my coins is placed on different wallets, but I am also holding stacking coins on exchanges like Binance or Huobi.

What are you talking about? It certainly is not trustless.

As technology is evolving, exchanges has become one of the easiest and fastest way to stake coin and earn profit. So if you are holding any such POS cryptocurrencies, then I think you should know how to start earning dividends by staking them in the right wallets as another option.

Both, I have some coins in wallets, official wallets, and I have some tokens from different exchanges, they are sitting there and generating some income over the time. Staking is a good way for generating passive income, its hard to start, to invest in first coins, to set up everything, but after that you do nothing and money is coming.

If you are conscious to the tokens security then you wouldn't think of staking your tokens in the exchanges as its just suppose to be where you trade. Some people may really wanna do store the coins on the exchange but these are the type of people who might just dump the coins later on when opportunity is there like if the coin is pumped.

Exchanges are meant for trading only, if you are going to use them for staking then you are in risk of losing funds.
That is true, but man I had better luck staking just a small amount of pivx on kucoin than I did in the pivx staking wallet.  Didn't do it for long, tho because I'm very aware of the risk of keeping crypto on an exchange.  Kucoin is a good exchange, but that doesn't mean I would trust them not to get hacked or to pull some kind of exit scam.  It seems like that has happened to most of the exchanges that have ever existed thus far.  That's sad.

So I would have to vote for keeping your staking coins in a staking wallet and *not* on an exchange, especially if you have a lot of coins or if they're worth a lot of money.  It was okay for me to play around with pivx because it wasn't worth much but if I had even $50 or more I would have kept it in my own wallet.

After losing my coins on Cryptopia, I only used exchange wallet for trading and never for storing
And they were a big exchange and a reputable one at that.  That's my point.  You just can't tell whether the exchange that you're putting your faith in is going to disappear overnight.

Personally, I am not a fan of staking and this is because of the penchant for projects to be increasingly unstable. CEOs and project team members can have disagreements that will hamper the project and whatever staking plans you have engaged in. It's a risk I am not willing to take personally.

Majorly depends on how the project is designed but it most cases that I have tried like that of veil privacy coin. Staking is done in the Veil wallet. All you need do is leave the wallet open. Generally, it's relative to platform in most cases besides wallets are safer too

Considering the safety of your coins and the simplicity of staking process, do you stake in centralized exchanges or you consider using crypto wallets that supports staking like imtoken, trust and atomic wallet.

Where do you stake?
Some wallets allow you to stake but mostly if the wallet is just for storing purposes then its not possible for that to happen. I don’t stake always because of the value is too low and it might put my coin on risk, centralized exchange is safe to stake especially if its a good one. You have to choose the best for staking and make sure that its worth the risk.

Me, I will think twice before to stake and I will choose the best and the most trusted exchange like Binance, And I don't know yet what wallet can start an staking. We can use google to search if what is the safest exchange. Beware to all scam exchange like IDAX. Simple technique and clean modus of exit scam exchange. take care of your funds people.

Of course people here have already read the news about the two exchanges that were hacked recently, IDAX and Upbit, now with the recent hacking, will you still consider storing your coins to exchanges, people never learn that exchange wallet are only for trading, if you are holding for long term get a cold wallet or a ledger, or keep your private key the safest place you've had.

It depends on the coins that my stake is listed on whether or not the exchange is good because an exchange that I don't like will not do it there. The imToken wallet only supports stake for tokens so I don't use it because I only stake on coins. So I prefer to stake in exchange

80% of my stake are held by local exchanger. although some opinions say it's dangerous, but believe me, I've lost a lot of assets in several online wallets. so because of this, I chose to keep the assets that I have at a local exchanger, and have a clear office. but, I'm thinking of storing it on the hardwallet in the future.

I stake my coin on exchange market and not save on wallet, I think there are not possible for staking coin on wallet. You have many exchange market support and available for staking coin like Binance, Upbit, Bittrex and you can stake your coin with Kucoin exchange wallet, look which one coin have stable price and give bigger allocation for staking every month.

Does the trust wallet have a staking program? as far as I can see most of the staking programs launched by exchange platform projects such as BCNEX, Beaxy etc.,
there is one application that I know of that is Waves, in that application has a leasing feature, just like the staking program

Of course inside our own wallet, many things happened with the exchanges these years and more importantly they are a target of the hacker. The probability for them to screw you is bigger than holding it on your own, I do not have any trust left.
Remember what people said, you do not have the keys that mean you do not own the coins.
Exactly that’s why I encourage people to store their coins in wallets that they have access to their private keys. You only use exchanges to trade cryptocurrencies and not to use it as storage. There are news of people who lost their money in exchanges and they can’t do anything about it which is quiet sad and infuriating. Also, if you want to trade then better pick trusted exchange. If you want to be more secure you can buy a cold wallet.

I used to stake using my wallet but it was hard to keep it all up to date when you have more than 2 different altcoins.

There are services that I'm testing like staked.us and mycointainer.com which allow you to stack multiple coins at the same time.
The downside is centralization but the upside is they are updating everything for you.

There are even other coins that I keep in other exchanges besides the exchanges I mentioned above. And for some bitcoin stored in my wallet because I will not sell it for a long time. Later I will send it to the trading market if the price is good and rises.

I don't see a difference between the two. It's all about your personal preference. But I think it's better to stake in the exchange. But I may be mistaken in this view.
It makes more sense to choose which cryptocurrency gives the most interest on an annual basis, and you can follow the recommendation of your invested cryptocurrency.

so far safe with an exchange wallet, I mean for a truly credible exchange. Staking events are also frequently updated along with other promotional programs. so I can do 3 options at once, trading, staking, and investing (IEO, etc.), my funds are not too much, but I can maximize one option at a time with additional profit derived from other options.

Honestly, if you want to do staking on the Exchange it is rather risky because we do not have full control of the wallet and there is a possibility of being hacked. Therefore you should be able to consider and have a trustworthy Exchange in this case, Binance can be one of the best choices. Me either, the fate of your assets should be in your hands, placing your assets and stake it inside the exchange might face a big risk once the
exchange being attack by the hackers, everything will be taken away from your hands whenever the business disclose information about the
issues, unlike hen you are staking your assets inside your trusted wallets you are in-charge to anything that ill harmed your investment.

It depends on your goal. If you are going to stake for long term as a form of passive income then you should store your cryptocurrency or tokens inside a wallet, a secured wallet, so you will have nothing to worry about. On the other hand, it is a good idea to stake your cryptocurrencies inside an exchange if you are just aiming for short term gains.

While when you stake in private wallets there is a risk that you forget about that and you will loose your cryptocurrencies, especially when you holding more low market cap staking coins.

Considering the simplies method and the safety of your asset then you must go on staking on your own wallet rather than staking on any exchange site, but I have some altcoin like xlm, algo & trx that I staking on Binance exchange site that I can get free altcoin every month not too large but this is okay for me.
Wallets and exchanges both are safe for keeping assets as long as the holder is a smart person. First of all, he should choose a renowned, trustworthy exchange or wallet that is supported by million of users. Binance can be trusted blindly as it also takes responsibility of compromise. The user must be careful with his credentials. As it is said that, the weakest link in security is human because he can be fooled.

Considering the safety of your coins and the simplicity of staking process, do you stake in centralized exchanges or you consider using crypto wallets that supports staking like imtoken, trust and atomic wallet.

Where do you stake?

With the rate which exchange are closing and running with people's funds, I think that staking in exchange will be at a very big risk so I personally and will always use wallets

I am keeping my assets mostly at Binance, because I trade them everyday, every minute. As a wallet, I am using Atomic Wallet if I want to hold something like BNB or BEP2 tokens. Other than that I prefer using MyEtherWallet to store my ERC-20 tokens. I think they are enough.

well if you have your own laptop or desktop it is better to stake on your own wallet
its not a good idea to leave and trust some new platform
there a possibility that you will lose all your coin instead of earning small amount of stake

Don't really trust exchanges to hold my tokens there constantly, prefer other ways, which I can control. THe risks are too high, witnessed some sad cases during my crypto life :)
