Title: Survey: At What Price would you stop investing more money into Bitcoin ??? Post by: HardFacts on December 02, 2019, 03:52:47 PM At what price would you guys stop putting SIGNIFICANT amounts of additional money into purchasing Bitcoin ??? I am not talking about small investments that you do not care about losing, but stop investing significant amounts of your financial assets that you can not afford to lose.
I am NOT asking if you believe Bitcoin will go down to these prices !!! I know you guys will say the prices will never get that low, and that you would never sell your bitcoin.. . OK we understand that 😁 BUT, any rational, intelligent investor will have a price point at which they would stop putting significant additional amounts of money into a particular investment. Think it over carefully and give us your best, most honest answer. Title: Re: Survey: At What Price would you stop investing more money into Bitcoin ??? Post by: mk4 on December 02, 2019, 04:09:54 PM It doesn't actually have something to do with the price. It mostly depends on the fundamentals. Is bitcoin still being built on? Is it really still being developed? And a lot more. If the answer is yes, and bitcoin is still fundamentally the same but with a significantly lower price(like the ones you listed), then hell yea I'm going to buy more.

When I say this I do acknowledge that few whales can effect bitcoin prices, but that’s only temporarily in the long run due to its strong fundamentals it always bounces back. Hence i would never stop investing in bitcoins even if it touches $0.01, rather I would put everything I have because I would yet believe it could bounce back and generate good returns for me. I can't imagine if that dump really happen.
Title: Re: Survey: At What Price would you stop investing more money into Bitcoin ??? Post by: bitvalak on December 02, 2019, 05:05:31 PM It depends on what price you bought, each person will have their perspective. Most traders will make a cutloss when prices fall more than 60% of the initial purchase price, because that is the lowest point of the price is too difficult to go up again.
But there are some people who have other strategies such as averaging that make it possible to buy again at a cheaper price. Once/if BTC ever gets back to three digits price again, I'll start reevaluating my view on BTC. There must be wrong if that ever happens again lol. But as you said, it's very unlikely. If things stay the same (development, acceptance, etc) and the price somehow tanks to three digits price I would still buy it, probably with an even bigger amount.I am NOT asking if you believe Bitcoin will go down to these prices !!! Post by: dothebeats on December 02, 2019, 05:38:42 PM Price is secondary to any interest I have for bitcoin.
I mainly check whether there are still developments being rolled into the said coin, otherwise it's rather a futile effort to support it if we're just going to talk about pricing and nothing more. I've started supporting the coin and buying it in hopes of using it sooner or later; profits only came second to my interest when I realized that people are buying this to make money. Nothing changed to my views, I'm still interested on the central ethos of bitcoin even though I know I can make more money off of it--well it helped me start a business but still. Seeing that there aren't any active developments towards its adoption to the masses, I have since halted buying even though the price is somewhat tempting to take on. Anyway, beyond $30,000 perhaps is quite unreasonable for me to go on and buy bitcoin as it would probably break the bank. I'll stay on the active side of supporting it though, even if I won't be doing any buys any time soon. Title: Re: Survey: At What Price would you stop investing more money into Bitcoin ??? Post by: Harlot on December 02, 2019, 05:49:35 PM At the prices you have given it actually becomes more attractive to buy Bitcoin as this is what I can say a perfect opportunity looks like for any trader/investor in the market. I think the only time for any investor who is smart enough to stop buying Bitcoin is when it has already pump or it's gradually going up since this is the worst time to participate in any profit taking if you don't have any margin of safety, when prices are going up it only means that traders are already set to sell/offload some of their positions for profit taking and you on the receiving end would just double the risk of not gaining anything.

I can only answer that question once we already in the exact situation, the decision time. We can't just say I will stop buying here, here, here, here or I won't stop, etc. because the situation today is far different from what will happen in the future. Let's say today, I will admit I will stop buying at $20,000+ but what if when that time comes, with good progress in my financial status, I can afford to buy on that price level, surely I will buy. It really depends on crypto market status, my own financial status, and many other factors. Title: Re: Survey: At What Price would you stop investing more money into Bitcoin ??? Title: Re: Survey: At What Price would you stop investing more money into Bitcoin ??? Post by: livingfree on December 02, 2019, 06:04:20 PM It's more of an opinion by everyone and there's no best answer to your question. Bitcoin can be bought at any prices and that's one of the best reason why anyone can look into different price as their best price.
$1,000,000 could be the price that others might stop but this price could be the triggering and exciting price for the new comers because they can see that it's getting more expensive. Title: Re: Survey: At What Price would you stop investing more money into Bitcoin ??? Post by: oktana on December 02, 2019, 07:11:21 PM $ 3000 is a psychological limit, I'm sure it can't be below that.
Panic does not only occur due to sales conditions, but can also apply vice versa, because many people are also very concerned about the continuity of aspects of market development. Many holders also keep the price of altcoin, and if the btc goes back to $ 100 it will be very worrying, no matter how cruel the fundamentals are, it will not make any significant changes that make the btc fall even further. But everyone has its own limits and sometimes pressure is too hard. I never really thought about my limits but I guess that might be 200$. Title: Re: Survey: At What Price would you stop investing more money into Bitcoin ??? Post by: gentlemand on December 02, 2019, 07:43:48 PM $ 3000 is a psychological limit, I'm sure it can't be below that. People said the same back in the day of it being 'impossible' for the price to fall below the ATH of previous bubbles. That meant $266 for April 2013 though calling that a bubble in itself was pushing it. Then it managed $160 in 2015. There is no psychological limit. There'll be bots botting and traders who only scalp and don't care about the headline price as long as the movements make them money. They decide the price rather more than the sweating kiddies who haven't bought or sold for several years. If enough people do run screaming then the chances are another crop will be along at a lower price. They'll be hardened to stuff like this and will probably sell at the top of the next bubble. Never ever try to do a trade that goes "buy high and sell higher" as you are kissing your money good bye for no reason. At least if you have bought and accumulate it at the bottom you get the chance to ride and observe the prices when it pumps, your only problem that you will face is your own greed. Don't think this is going to happen again though.
Price isn't really relevant for me though, I don't buy a lot of crypto-currencies and I am mostly in it for the long game, as I"m not going to selling off my crypto until BTC either hits 100,000, or I have financial emergencies. Title: Re: Survey: At What Price would you stop investing more money into Bitcoin ??? Post by: Pearls Before Swine on December 02, 2019, 08:05:15 PM This question assumes I'm still pumping money into bitcoin, which isn't the case to begin with. But if bitcoin dropped to a valuation as low as $1000 or so, I'd know there was trouble and that it might be a good idea to reevaluate my position (which is not large anyway).
Even if bitcoin plummeted to $3000 it would be obvious something is wrong either with bitcoin itself or with sentiment toward it, and that damage might be irreparable. If it got as low as $500 or even lower, there would probably be serious problems in the global economy and it not only might be prudent to stop investing in bitcoin but to start stocking up on food, seeds, land, and other survival items. I don't think any of that is going to happen, tho. The way I see it, bitcoin could drop as low as $5000 but I doubt it would go past that, as there's a lot of support even above that price and enough people support bitcoin that there would probably be panic buying. And 2020 is going to be a stellar year for bitcoin, mark my words. Title: Re: Survey: At What Price would you stop investing more money into Bitcoin ??? Bitcoin going to 100 would mean everybody who joined in 2017 and past that has probably left the space. This would be a sign that the coin is dying and maybe just maybe if it made a double bottom at 100 and started a big rally we could say that it's still alive but most people would trade that like a dead cat bounce at that point. Title: Re: Survey: At What Price would you stop investing more money into Bitcoin ??? Post by: buwaytress on December 03, 2019, 10:08:18 AM For now, probably at 5x ATH.
To make it clear, I don't actually buy Bitcoin. Never have. Every satoshi I have is earned. I'm a freelancer, I charge in crypto, and as of 2018 I virtually no longer have any Paypal clients -- which was the old fiat alternative I used. But what I can't spend in Bitcoin I am forced to liquidate for fiat to pay bills, etc. But I try to save as much as possible -- that's what I guess is my effective buy. But if BTC goes to 20k again and on the way up, I'd probably be selling progressively more of my BTC earned then. NOT from my holdings but from earnings. Effectively, I'll stop buying once we're at $100k, as that's what I believe the next ATH could be once 20k is broken. Undoubtedly, according to experts' forecasts, the price of Bitcoin will indeed grow significantly higher than the level that we observed in 2017. But in order for Bitcoin to grow in price, you need to have real prerequisites for increasing its popularity in society and attracting large-scale attention from investors. In addition, it is important that Bitcoin will be used in practice, and not as a means of payment, but as a means to carry out large-scale transactions between large companies. In any case, the more expensive Bitcoin is, the less the purchasing power of small cryptocurrency users will be.Title: Re: Survey: At What Price would you stop investing more money into Bitcoin ??? Since we are the ones to dedicate what bitcoin will be for in the future, Sure, even I could buy a bunch of bitcoin at $ 0.01 and not care what happens... I know some people will always show their support for bitcoin, which is exactly why I asked where people would stop investing SIGNIFICANT amounts of money into additional bitcoin, money they could not afford to write off or lose... Post by: xiboothrezi on December 04, 2019, 10:58:38 PM Basically, the benchmark is based on chart analysis, not based on a certain price without a clear basis. No matter how low the price, if there is no opportunity and good hope to go up, it is useless, and vice versa, if the chart shows a positive development then use that opportunity well.

@HardFacts you’ll be surprised but people will put their life savings in bitcoins if it touches $0.01 again, because unlike other assets bitcoin cannot be manipulated and controlled. Although that's impossible to reach bitcoin that low even at $100 it will hit again and soar up to million that's for sure unless there will be a coin that would replace bitcoin. What do you think of that?Title: Re: Survey: At What Price would you stop investing more money into Bitcoin ??? Post by: fullhdpixel on December 07, 2019, 04:52:38 PM For me, it all depends. If the market looks like there is a chance it's still going to get back on top then I might continue to invest. But judging from the current situation of the market, I would say that I will stop investing in Bitcoin if the price drops to around $1000. And another thing I check is the price I invested at - if my list is getting much then I have to sell my assets and stop adding more to it.
And of course you're right – anyone who is an investor is supposed to have a target, like where they call it a stop, and that should be determined by how much risk you can afford to take. This seems very reasonable... If I had a reason to believe Bitcoin was gong up by a significant amount, I would absolutely buy a bunch of it. The same goes for the downside, if I believed evidence indicated Bitcoin was going to fall, I would sell rather than ride it down and lose a bunch of money. What is utter stupidity are those that " Believe " that Bitcoin price is going to the moon, and refuse to consider any evidence that to not support their beliefs. Post by: Youghoor on December 10, 2019, 02:15:59 AM First and foremost, you need to understand that cryptocurrency or bitcoin investment to be precise is really not for everyone and also not for people who don't really understand and knowledge the basic necessities for investing in any crypto coin. The price of Bitcoin shouldn't the reason why anyone will stop investing into Bitcoin. People should be more concern about the trading and market volume of Bitcoin within 24hrs or a week. The trading volume and market volume of Bitcoin gives you the investor knowledge on the progress of the entire bitcoin ecosystem and market. The price represents the value of the crypto coin rather than the progress of the entire market of that particular crypto coin.

I am not talking about small investments that you do not care about losing, but stop investing significant amounts of your financial assets that you can not afford to lose. OK we understand that 😁 BUT, any rational, intelligent investor will have a price point at which they would stop putting significant additional amounts of money into a particular investment. Think it over carefully and give us your best, most honest answer. Some use the DCA (Dollar Cost Averaging) strategy whereby buying bitcoin or other assets with the same nominal in a certain period (for example every month) without regard to the price for that month. If the price goes down, it means that you can buy more BTC, if the price goes up it will get less BTC. This method can be used to reduce market risk without relying on price movement trends. It's also effective to save time predicting and monitoring prices over time. Title: Re: Survey: At What Price would you stop investing more money into Bitcoin ??? Post by: adaseb on December 10, 2019, 03:56:52 AM I would say I would stop maybe if it broke the low of 2018 which is around $3100 or so. If it went to $2500 and a few weeks or months after it stayed above $3100 then I would be fine but if the $3000 area doesn't hold and $2500 area doesn't hold then many people will just bail and it might hit triple digits again and there will be very little confidence then because going from $20000 to $500 is over a 97% loss and many would just consider it too "penny stock-ish" to invest again.
However I don't expect $3xxx anytime, ever. I think the 200 WMA will hold which is currently around $4950 or so, and this WMA always provided good support and always bounced. I think down there is when you should be buying as much as you can because it has the best scenario of working out. With alts like ETH, I think if it goes back to the $10 area then they will be in trouble because of the 51% hashrate attack risk and leaving many investors frustrated since it would be a 99% loss which would really hurt the coin. Post by: Eugenar on December 10, 2019, 02:31:04 PM This is not really the best way to say this, but for me, investors will not stop putting money to an asset where they could get the most out of it. I doubt there are people who control their investment at a certain amount. But for me, what you can control is the amount of investment you could invest not the amount of your total investment already been invested.

But if the price will go high more than $100k dollars, feel not to be easy with that and for sure people will afraid and hold back cause what will happen if it drops and turn back to (even to say) $10k, so much money to lose. And I don't think it is a preferred price to buy with. Title: Re: Survey: At What Price would you stop investing more money into Bitcoin ??? Post by: HardFacts on December 11, 2019, 11:14:01 PM This topic for me should be taken negatively. How could that be, because the questions is what price would we stop investing and the option is a range of price that is decreasing. For me, to make the most out of the market, what I will do is to invest more when the price is getting cheaper and cheaper. Build trust more and to attract people to buy bitcoin because of the price it has knowing its potential and capability to increase to much in the future. A lot of people have lost EVERYTHING investing that way. What if you had invested in Enron, or WorldCom and kept buying every time the price went down ? The problem is the price can go to ZERO and stay there 😭😭😭 A REALLY BAD AND STUPID ASSUMPTION: To think that getting cheaper will build trust and attract more people is just delusional. At some point, prices collapsing scares people and drives them away. That is the problem when you have a Cult Like " beleif " in bitcoin, and are blinded so much by greed that you have no ability for rational thought 🙈🙈🙈🙈 Hard Facts Title: Re: Survey: At What Price would you stop investing more money into Bitcoin ??? It would probably be better if it comes down really low and spikes up once again in the next few years.

Title: Re: Survey: At What Price would you stop investing more money into Bitcoin ??? Post by: theskillzdatklls on January 05, 2020, 05:15:30 AM I think a better question for me personally is which higher price I'd stop investing into Bitcoin. I think for me, that would be around $250,000/BTC. I think it's still profitable at that price, but the yields are much lower than they are presently.
I think a lot of the prices posted in this survey are unrealistic. I think certain price points are virtually impossible presently. I don't know what kind of hell on earth it would take to drop BTC below $100/coin presently. The amount of buy pressure would be insanity at those points unless there was a massive reason against which I can't easily come up with. Title: Re: Survey: At What Price would you stop investing more money into Bitcoin ??? Post by: senin on January 05, 2020, 06:41:23 AM In my opinion, it is not so much the low threshold of the bitcoin price that is important here as the high. To what price Bitcoin did not fall now, it did not lose its investment attractiveness. On the contrary, the lower the price of bitcoin, the more profitable it is to invest in it.
But if Bitcoin begins to rise sharply in price, you already need to think about it, since you can buy Bitcoin at the peak of its price. This lesson is probably already well learned by those who bought bitcoin for about $ 20,000 in December 2017. Title: Re: Survey: At What Price would you stop investing more money into Bitcoin ??? I think it would contradict our idea there and we could come into the point to choose whether to think of the scenario to buy or to sell everything we had. Because for me, as long as the network and the nodes are still working fine, the low market price will always serves as an opportunity to buy disregarding the thinking of bitcoin being not profitable any more. My first and last investment (fiat) into crypto got lost because the price continues to decline at that time (2018). All of the funds I got from crypto, I got it from different campaigns I'm either reinvesting or holding what I'm getting into it. Post by: Betwrong on January 06, 2020, 03:25:34 PM It's really hard to say. On one hand, it seems like if Bitcoin went below $1k it would be something like a catastrophe. Yet, on the other hand, I think people who invested money in BTC in the mid of 2015, when it went below $200, were more than happy later. I personally believe that Bitcoin is here to stay for a long time, and, considering its scarcity, we can hope that the price will rise to $150k-$200k in the future. So, if the price were $0.01 I would buy 500 BTC at least, just in case, you know. :) But, because of the above mentioned scarcity, this will hardly ever happen. Dozens of millions of people are now ready to start accumulating when the price is "low enough", and the level they consider "low" is much higher than $0.01. And I don't mean Bitcoin enthusiasts, I mean regular folks, who remember the $20k. These people alone will not allow BTC to go down too much.

Title: Re: Survey: At What Price would you stop investing more money into Bitcoin ??? Post by: buwaytress on January 06, 2020, 04:39:58 PM At what price would you guys stop putting SIGNIFICANT amounts of additional money into purchasing Bitcoin ??? I am not talking about small investments that you do not care about losing, but stop investing significant amounts of your financial assets that you can not afford to lose. I am NOT asking if you believe Bitcoin will go down to these prices !!! I know you guys will say the prices will never get that low, and that you would never sell your bitcoin.. . OK we understand that 😁 BUT, any rational, intelligent investor will have a price point at which they would stop putting significant additional amounts of money into a particular investment. Think it over carefully and give us your best, most honest answer. OK, $3k is way too "high" for most people. And I believe I'm most people because I'm really into cost averaging. We don't have time to speculate, don't have time to time the market (OK I admit it, I do try and time, but it's more a hastening or delay of a week or a few weeks at best), and really we need a day job and have predictable, frequent, regular bills and expenses to pay. So we really are just setting aside savings in Bitcoin. Some go all in, others like me choose to still keep some in fiat (insured by the bank and state, for what those are worth). But if I HAD significant amounts of additional money like say, if I won a huge lottery? You bet I'm investing significantly into BTC, at whatever the price. OK, maybe NOT if BTC were in the midst of an ATH... But 100% for sure if it were $3k or $100. I voted for $1 though. Title: Re: Survey: At What Price would you stop investing more money into Bitcoin ??? Post by: carlzec on January 06, 2020, 11:17:00 PM The movement of the Bitcoin price poses enormous risks. Good for you! That's a great approach. If I had 25% of my monthly payment as spare money, I'd probably do the same. Looking at current charts I assume you'll be selling soon. :) ~ But if I HAD significant amounts of additional money like say, if I won a huge lottery? You bet I'm investing significantly into BTC, at whatever the price. OK, maybe NOT if BTC were in the midst of an ATH... But 100% for sure if it were $3k or $100. I voted for $1 though. Most of us here don't have significant amounts for buying BTC and then, possibly, waiting years for profits. But, like you said, in case of winning a jackpot we find ourselves in a different situation. I'd invest 50% of my winnings in BTC at any price, but, of course not during another ATH, meaning that I wouldn't invest if BTC was above $50k this year. But who knows, maybe in 2 years we'll be looking at $50k as we are looking at $3k today. Title: Re: Survey: At What Price would you stop investing more money into Bitcoin ??? Title: Re: Survey: At What Price would you stop investing more money into Bitcoin ??? Post by: Wintersoldier on January 12, 2020, 10:18:37 AM Thinking about the price when to stop spending money to invest in bitcoin is somehow not supported by any strong foundation to consider. What I mean is that, investing in bitcoin is beyond the mindset of a person whether to buy more or less. If we buy allot, we will earn depending if we sell it the right way, on the other hand, if we buy less, less profit we could get no matter how right we sell it. Thus, leading us to conclusion that buying bitcoin is better if we accumulate a large volume of it, and probably to have no limit to stop investing because it creates demand that makes people's market price higher.
