1. Stay away from ads clicks or links
2. Do not use a single password for all websites you have accounts on
3. Only click on links that you are expecting inside your email accounts to avoid phishing scams

I experienced it in 2012 if I'm not mistaken. Suddenly a notification appeared on my laptop and said that my files were encrypted by the hacker. And he asked for a ransom to remove the encryption along with his email address. I tried to contact him through the e-mail and he asked for a fee of around $ 50. I think that's an absurd action. In short, I did not pay any money to the hacker. The step that I took was to backup all my data to an external hard drive and reinstall my laptop. Finally, the notification popup disappeared.

I have known these tips for quite a long time and it really helps the curious people. I was infected by a virus because I believed in a nice money-making program and they sent it directly to my email address. This made me feel safe and clicked on the link, the virus stole my information quickly. So when you work in this crypto market and have a lot of information that needs to be kept confidential, you should buy yourself a laptop and it is only used for work and in addition to not use for any other purpose. That's the best way to protect your assets.

The most important thing about this is personal consciousness. It's not just about social media. There is a great degree of information pollution on the Internet. You can find the right information on many topics, but there is wrong information that can make you mistake.

Of course, this does not mean that we will not use the Internet and social media. But I always have to be skeptical. If we need to know about the subject we have no knowledge of 2-3 different sources should reach the conclusion.

Thanks for this great share Ive been aware of this a long time ago and from there I see to it that I will not be overwhelm by these kind of viruses. Especially the one that telling you that there is a huge reward for signing up. Beware of that since most people often fall with this kind of trick, some of them saying you won in a lottery and needed to send some cash to claim it. If you never joined any contest how come you win? Think twice. Tech is so high tech now and they are wise enough to crack a fool out of a newbie who doesn't really care.

haha, you are so true my man. To prevent all malicious viruses, we are not allowed to click on any strange links, especially those who actively send messages and send information to us. If you are a stranger then you should ignore and should not communicate anymore. Besides, you should not download any crack of any game. I know that people often want to play free games but free is often insecure and it has a lot of risks.
That's what I can really recommend because I've had such a problem myself and have to reinstall windows many times.

Indeed particularly in this world in which everything is speculative, one single mistake and your funds will be gone. Sometimes we are the problem because we keep on doing some actions and decisions without even thinking about the result of it and that is the reason why some of us ended up getting hacked or scammed. I have experienced it multiple times and I don't want to do the same mistakes that is why i'm being more attentive and cautious because I know that they will always find a way to get the benefits they wanted from us. Don't trust anyone's message with links because you don't know their true intentions and it's better if you do some researching before clicking it to make sure that the site is legit and safe.

The real key of protecting yourself from social engineering is always keep your awareness and never unreasonable answering people more importantly showing important information without real reason. These social engineering is so common in the internet that some of companies that have business in internet already informing it to many employees of the danger this social engineering carries. Heck, even I've seen some people plays some customer service into giving important information like a fiddle and that's really dangerous.

Avoid those very unfamiliar and if by chance you happen to click a link by accident, close it immediately. Stop being someone that keeps on downloading everything you like if they are unnecessary.

hacking like this usually happens because we are not careful when accessing the site. maybe the thing that happened was wrong click on the link, I personally the worst thing when making a link access error was a virus and I've never been hit by a hack like that. but it can be used as a lesson for you and also many people here

Check the links whether it is secured connection, or as much as possible don't click sites that not familiar or you didn't intend to visit really. Don't put information when asked to put in websites that are suspicious,Use 2FA in your accounts, research always.

Trapped in phising site, there are a lot of way people can trapped into it. Mostly because reckless, or maybe not carefully to check it is the real domain of the site or not. And the rest, maybe clicking on something intentionally because they're interested in something. On social media, this is usually wrapped in adult content which will make people curious to click on links from that content. And it happens a lot, so who trapped maybe can learn their mistake after get hacked.

Actually social engineering is about luring people through social contact and not this kind of ransom that's trying to threaten you. in SE they will impersonate or trying to fake their identity into making you believe that they are trustable or trying to let you make mistake and giving them a weak spot to penetrate. Ransom is sort of robbery and doesn't net social contact, that's what I know and that's why it's called Social Enginering.

Maybe this article not related to cryptos but still useful for someone to keep their device safe.

But the reality is its not possible to have complete privacy when we have smartphones so be selective while installing apps only choose trusted ones.

Also, be wary of those calls pretending to be affiliated with banks or credit cards that offer to increase your limit or something. Some of them are scams that will pry you of your identification details like birthdays, SSS number, credit card CVV numbers and the likes. Never give important information.

Experiences that someone texted you with promo or offering promo unknowingly where did they get our contact numbers. We really need to secured our details in any way possible as many uses this in their own interest. Make sure to do transaction with the legit affiliate especially in crypto which been eyed by many hackers.

I think to protect ourselves from this, we must be careful about the problem and usually they spread the link via sms, email and sometimes if we make the wrong access to the site and things that can make us trapped in the fraud. therefore when accessing the link we must be very careful

not only in this forum but all social media. because at this time a lot of people who send links and the end there will be indications of scam or fraud. telegrams, for example, many will send fake links. but so far I have never found it because I will definitely pass it by, and don't try it. it's just to find it safe.

Ignore the strangers who suddenly give you a message and say that he will give you half of his money if you help him get out his bitcoin he won because it was an obvious scam.

You also should not immediately believe on social media pages that you have won altcoins (like Stellar Lumens) and that you need to click on a link where you enter your private key. These are obvious social engineering tricks but if you are a beginner and have no idea then you can easily fall victim to exploiters.

Protecting yourself from social engineering hacks is no longer a new thing, and one of the things you have to do to make sure that you're safe from social engineering hackers is by not clicking random links or ads that you see online, whether on Facebook, forums or anywhere at all.

Another thing you will have to do is to stop making use of one password for all your accounts, because if you make use of one password, hackers will be able to have access to all your social accounts after they have break-in one of them. You should also mind the kind of information you're sharing online, and always generate random answers to security questions. Next is to avoid quizzes you will see on Facebook or other social media that request your info. And...I'm not clicking on that link you posted, I don't know which site is that, I'm sorry.

Well of course many people are victims, therefore the security of the devices we use must have very good security to protect our personal data. Of course we must have a backup or at least we always provide a lot of security to reduce the risk of losing our important data, and the most important thing is how you play on the internet.

Social engineering is used not only by hackers but also advertisers and PR specialists. You just need to be at least a little in the subject of the latest engineering trends and of course you need to be more careful and not click anywhere. I was deceived once in my life when only one letter was replaced in the address bar and on that I lost 500$.

Simple social engineering has been successfully done by cambridge analytica only with Facebook, they do not require very sensitive data but can change things that are very vital. only use survey options that are interestingly packaged. and finally get all the data needed. Can be dangerous if this method is further developed, the user has unconsciously given full trust ranging from the ordinary to the fatal, such as things that are needed in account recovery, which is packaged very interesting in the form of surveys. We just need to make sure to remain vigilant, because everything can trap unconsciously.

Yes right. Many of viruses and malwares are from the uneccesary applications that we can found in the internet. We should be aware that some of them are having a secret content that might affect your devices. Avoid clicking links too, i have seen so many posts and articles that someone stole their money all of it and they dont know how, it is simply because they click links that is phishing link.

My rules when dealing with whole this internet-money-making sphere:
1) Don't follow suspicious links. At least not from your main computer.
2) Don't use similar or easy passwords.
3) Don't keep your private keys, seeds or passwords somewhere on your desktop or any place like that, where they are too easy to be found.

The only and best way is not to use a computer at all. Because while you figure out how to protect yourself from hacker attacks, hackers come up with a new way to hack your computer.
