Title: Favorite Bitcoin exchange?
Post by: smartbitcoininvestor on December 08, 2019, 12:29:48 AM
Today there are hundreds of Bitcoin exchanges in existence. Exchanges operate like a bank but for cryptocurrency. Before using one you will have to register for an account and upload identity documents to verify yourself.

Personally, I use Coinbase and Paxful as my main exchanges as they are both user-friendly and hold a large stash of cryptocurrency in their vaults for the safety of their users.

For those of you around the globe, what is your favorite Bitcoin exchange?

I am heavily using Binance, Kucoin and Bittrex. Yes, these exchanges are requiring users to do the KYC but for small transactions they are allowing you to do business even without first complying with the requirements. Understanding that centralized exchanges could possibly pose some problems, I am making sure that no big amount of digital assets stay in my exchange accounts. These days we should always be careful not to be one of the victim statistics of bad exchanges because we know what happened to Cryptopia, QuadrigaCX and many more.

Currently, there are many Bitcoin exchanges for every user, basically the ones used by many users must be safe, secure and have good liquidity. For me my favorite exchanges are Binance, Kucoin, Houbi are my choices and I feel satisfied about these exchanges.

I'm sure that Binance will be on top of the list here, as many users have been using this platform since they enter crypto sphere. But I'm sure that there are mid-tier exchanges that is also popular and also some DEX as well.

However, for those who wanted to see which exchange doesn't do fake volumes or wash trading, I would suggest you read this report, Top Exchanges by Real Volume. (https://www.bti.live/exchanges/)

I have accounts on several exchanges, for me all exchanges are about the same, I use almost all exchanges as needed, the important thing is that the exchange has a good reputation, the exchange that I often use is poloniex, but that doesn't mean I like poloniex exchange, it's just that most of my funds are there, and I'm lazy to move my funds.

I prefer Coinbase as well.

It is fast, secure, reliable, trustable and has alot of positive feedbacks anywhere you search for it.
Except for the support which is slow and they have tickets, reddit, email and phone from support team.

Also love their referral system which gives you a sweet bonus on your referral's first deposit.

The main Interface is preaty cool and easy to understand and use as well.

sure binance is the number 1, binance does a lot of development, they have many features. yes other than that their market has real trading volume, unlike 70 other markets that have indicated fictional trading volume.

@smartbitcoininvestor just because there’re hundreds of exchanges doesn’t mean all are legit, personally I have preferred only coinbase in the past. Now days even Binance is good, even though it was hacked I yet feel people haven’t lost their confidence in it. However I yet would advise people to avoid exchanges as they often get hacked and people end up loosing their money.

Personal opinion right, although it is not globally but my favorite bitcoin exchange is my local exchange. I think because i used it since a years ago maybe since i first start to know about bitcoin around 2014. At least until now i have no problem with it except when they start to make people KYC in their site. But as long i can do it, i do it because i need to use the site.

I prefer trading at Binance because he has good integrity after a problem last year. I don't think the KYC problem is too complicated either, because it's still within reasonable limits.
Market capitalization is also relatively high, which can trade comfortably. Withdrawal so far I also have not found a significant problem.

But very few of them have real volume (https://twitter.com/bitwiseinvest/status/1109114665240616962):

I'm partial to Coinbase as a fiat onramp -- mainly because I've already KYC'd there and don't want to do it anywhere else. I use Binance for general trading.

Have tried out Coinbase and Binance, but I'm mostly using Binance right now. Sad to say the KYC is a pain in the ass though. Most of the notable exchanges out there require KYC which makes it hard for huge transactions, and those that allow huge transactions without the KYC are unknown exchanges or have negative reviews, which make using them really scary in fear of being scammed.

I've already KYC'ed with Coinbase so I really doubt I'd risk using other exchanges that require no KYC. What's done is done anyway so might as well continue for it.

I am using an established bitcoin exchanges.
  • Binance
  • Local exchange (Coins.ph)

Using it for about two year now and still nothing seems to be problems using those two. I have tried tokenomy but there is only few coins/tokens availble there. When it comes to mobile-friendly, easy to use and trusted exchanges. IMO, those two I have been personally using is strongly suggested.

Thanks for your comments. However, I find that with Coinbase, the transaction costs when converting from Cash to BTC are huge. Compared to OTC trading platforms like Binance, OKEX, Huobi, ..., I think Coinbase should not be used when you trade multiple times per day, switching between cash and BTC. Note that I am not talking about security here.

My most preferred is Binance and Kucoin. I kind of trust Binance because it's one the biggest and secured exchange and I feel safe. The same goes for Kucoin as their supporting the regulation and they are trying to improve the crypto world.

binance for my global trade transactions and indodax (this is a local exchange) that I use to withdraw my funds, I have enough with both of these exchanges

I think the best bitcoin exchange site is Binance. It is popular with everyone and very popular. Here we can exchange very easily and our Bitcoin is very secure. Investing here is very straightforward and there are many benefits to investing. There are also many other exchange sites like Kucoin, Bittrex and many more but this is totally how you invest in yourself.

Are you mixing up Coinbase with Coinbase Pro? Coinbase Pro is their proper exchange. Fees are higher than some other exchanges but nowhere near as bad as their normal buying service.

The exchange I use most is Kraken. I'm not a fan of its design but they're solid and have been around for a long time.

A whole page of replies and no one has mentioned a single decentralized exchange? What a shame. BISQ is my exchange of choice, but there are a growing number of decentralized exchanges you can choose from.

There are multiple benefits to using a DEX. You do not have to deposit your coins in to their wallets, and so you maintain complete control over your own coins. If the exchange was hacked, your coins are completely safe. The exchange also can't freeze or lock your account or confiscate your coins since they have no control over them. There are no KYC requirements, which is great for privacy, but also means your KYC documents can't be hacked, stolen, or sold, and your risk of identity theft is zero. The exchange can't pass on your details to your local government or police. They are censorship resistant. Wash trading is very rare, if happening at all. You never have to pay deposit, trading, or withdrawal fees, since you are trading directly with another user. You can trade any coin or fiat pair you can find a buyer/seller for.

Better security, better privacy, better transparency. What's not to love? Volume is the main stumbling block at the moment, but that will come with time as more and more centralized exchanges are hacked or are caught selling their customers' details or ratting their customers out to the government, like all the big exchanges that have already been mentioned in this thread. I don't trust any of them.

Before using one you will have to register for an account and upload identity documents to verify yourself.

I kind of disagree with this statement as CoinSwitch (http://coinswitch.co) does not require any Signup or KYC. I have used it without signup.

In case of Binance I had anaccount without KYC and was happily trading. Last time when Binance was hacked they asked me for a KYC and I did it, before it did not ask for one. I like binance as well.

Bitmex (https://www.bitmex.com/) one more sample for no KYC platform with long and short feature and perpatual contract trading. Even I have used it.

Exodus one high rated wallet+ exchange does not ask for KYC. and many more does not ask for upload of documents and verification

Coinbase number 1!! Once you get past the KYC thing, its actually kinda nice. Well, any exchange is but in my stand, coinbase is a lot better than most exchanges. Binance is there and Kraken is there sure but I guess i just got used to using coinbase too much that I stand quite biased with it?
I'm mostly trading small amounts so Im fine in general with KYC and well, I guess I just like it? Clicked more to me, plus I enjoy the UI itself so yep.

For exchanging crypto to fiat, I mainly use Indodax and Triv. I don't trade crypto to crypto that often, but if I must I probably would choose Binance because of its varieties of coins and solid reputation. Most of the time, I margin trade in Bitmex. Hands down, the best margin trading platform.

Binance has a lot of cryptocurrency pairs so I use it too for some of the lesser-known coins. The platform also has excellent security and enforces KYC measures.

Based on some of the responses here I think I will try out Huobi exchange soon.

I can recommend you CoinDeal (https://coindeal.com/). This cryptocurrency exchange is well-known in EU, recently they have also entered the US market. Probably one of the most user-friendly exchange, idea for beginners imo. Moreover, fees are pretty okay, deposits in some currencies are free of charge.

Once you get past the KYC thing
"Get past" KYC? You know Coinbase hand over their customers' details and account activity to the government and also sell this information to third parties without your consent? There is no "getting past" it. Once you've completed KYC on Coinbase, they will exploit you to the max.

The platform also has excellent security and enforces KYC measures.
Binance was hacked recently and thousands of customers' KYC details were stolen. They have been hacked for coins several times in the past. I wouldn't call that "excellent security". You also seem to be talking about KYC like it's a good thing. It's not.

My favorite Bitcoin exchanges are those who have fewer transaction fees when trading BTC and most of them are unknown exchanges or below top exchanges out there. If you only trading a small amount of BTC, those kinds of exchanges are the great choices. But If you are trading some big amount of BTC, my advice is, don't sacrifice it for just a little amount of BTC that you can save form these unknown exchanges rather choose Binance or maybe Kraken to be safe. because some of the unknown exchanges are known to their brutal behavior. do you wanna know what it is? it is their sudden shutdown. most of you know this one, but it's worth saying it here.

I've stopped trading Bitcoin but in terms of simplicity and convenience, Remitano.

The 1% taker fee is pretty steep though.

Maybe CoinDeal or Kraken? These two are reliable to me. I've been using Coindeal for a long time and everything works fine. Deposits and withdrawals are done quickly. It has a feature called the Galaxy Score which helps you to decide when is the right time to buy or sell and which coin and this could be helpful for you if you are a beginner.

Yeah right, but it seems traders choice as of now is still on Binance exchange even though the recent hacked incidents have happened.
I know it's too hard to trust exchange sites as of now, but if I going to choose one of them I still prefer on Binance because they had a good market volume and the liquidity as well. Good advice is don't leave a huge fund in any exchanges platform after trading, we can't trust how their system work and probably one day they will get hacked.

If you looking for an exchange platform list and their perspective comparisons, just refer to this thread, it was created by Raja_MBZ, Crypto exchanges comparison (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5079048).

I don't care which exchanges are your most favorite ones. Because exchanges come and go, massively grow to the top, then collapse to the bottom of exchange ranking list.

What you have to care about when using exchanges are:
- Choosing the one that should be on the top (they have good volume, liquidity, promotions, and good reputation), temporarily.
But:
- Don't storing all your money on one or two exchanges. Even they are your most favorites, or even they are the biggest ones among crypto exchanges, temporarily.
- Don't storing all your money on exchanges.
- Don't storing your money (all of part of it) on exchanges for too long, especially if your trading plans finished. Withdraw it instantly when you finish your trading plans to your wallets.

Hello! Take a sentence here to introduce myself to the forum. So hi.

As for any exchange, I do like Kraken pro for mobile. It makes my life easier but alternatively I enjoy how cash app has offered a way to buy coins and give a custodial service to the people less adamant about security and getting started.

Coinbase was a starter for me but I gave up there as the learn feature never worked for me

My favorite bitcoin exchange is binance,  kucoin, okex, coinbene,  and latoken. Due kucoin was the first crypto exchange I was familiar with back then in 2017 before the launch of binance exchange.  What makes me likes Kucoin then was the user interface it was very easy for to use and I really enjoyed using the exchange...
