I never tried using a Bitcoin ATM but it looks like scam to me because he should be the one paying the fees if your friend is sending yoj money and no mkre verification needed on your end.

Is he really your friend? You need to ask for proof and why he is ending you a large money using an ATM of Bitcoin does an app or software wallet can do it? Or he is converting the money to BTC and sending it to you?

Yes it's a scam, never trust a friend like this.

ATM doesn't have an address (likewise a donation address).... I am pretty sure this is an address that belong to your friend ;)

Plus... there is no reason to verify an user with an huge payment!

More than likely, this is scam in the making. Now, it's in crypto. I highly doubt that it is his true friend or he personally knows that person. With that amount of money that he wants to send, why would he ask $700 to cover the fees? Doesn't make sense at all. You will regret if you will send that amount of money because he never will send that huge amount of money.

First, EasyBTCit ATM is legit, https://easybitatm.com/.

Second, I don't think that you need $700 for a confirmation or transaction fees, that amount is too big.

Third, I don't think that is your friend, maybe someone you met online, and sweet talk you.

Fourth, definitely you have been scammed with your $700.

Sorry for your loss, next time be careful before sending your money to anyone, because transactions here are irreversible.

There are ALL hints that this is a big scam against you. There is no reason for send 700$ it's a totally non-sense. No of course no, save your money, and talk with your "uncle".

I've never used Bitcoin ATMs. However, ATMs are still under trial. It is risky to withdraw large amounts of money from Bitcoin ATMs. The system doesn't work that well yet. It is better to use Bitcoin directly. These problems will be solved in the near future.

I wonder, how can you call him a friend after all he's a scammer. And there's no atm that work like that not even in USA or anywhere in the world.

So don't waste your time and funds to someone like that, and you should start reading some articles on how bitcoin works.

And one thing for sure, once it's a too good to be true offer here in crypto-world it's obviously a scam.

Its a scam! Why do you need to send 700$ to your friend? Scammers usually deceive you of big amount. And in return they want you to pay the charges. In the first place, why do you need to pay charges? Why not him to pay for it? If he/she can afford to send that 30000$ why should he charge you for some fees? If he want to send you bitcoin then he must pay also the charges.

Doesn't matter how much money involved here. Scammers will be scammers whether $10 or $1 million. Even here in the community there are a lot of scammers, a good example, loan defaulter. So if I where in your shoes, and if you haven't send the money yet, don't fall for this trick.

That's a big money even in US you need to tell your uncle to don't deal to his friend who offering to give such a big amount of money and asking to deposit $700.

Do you know how Bitcoin ATM actually works?
If you want to withdraw that amount ($30000) you should receive it first in your bitcoin wallet without fees.
Read this just to be aware of how actually withdrawal in BTC ATM works Can I Withdraw Cash from A Bitcoin ATM? (https://coinsource.net/can-i-withdraw-cash-from-a-bitcoin-atm/)"

Tell your uncle to don't deal 100% it is scam.

Could there be a possibility someone hacked your Uncle's computer/phone and are pretending to be your uncle? There is absolutely no reason to send any amount of bitcoins to receive them. Might break your heart but your Uncle and his friend seem like scammers. Contact them for more information: https://easybitatm.com/

Then don't bite the cheese. It's a trap for your uncle. A friend of your uncle obviously doing a scam. There is no such a thing of sending again huge money like $700 to confirm transactions inside the ATM. Tell your uncle that his friend is just doing some fraud act against him.

Take note, the ATM Machine is legit. But the transactors or the person dealing with you and to your uncle seems not. Be careful, mate. We've warned you.

Total scam, i have read more than twice to really understand part of what you are saying, but when there is words like, 30,000$ for you and 700$ required to be paid by you, a deposit, SCAM presence and a BIG one for that.

its scam if he really want to send you money you dont need to send them also.  They are luring greedy people for the money they want to send but the truth is they do not have that balance and just want to stole your 700$ . I heard many times something likethis before but they use money transfer for sending , it is the first timw i heard they move already to crypto.

That was a total SCAM.

There was a lot of that recently where you need to send money first before you can actually get the promised money from your so-called "friend". Never trust anyone you know over the internet especially when you had only known him or her for months now. Trust an online friend if you've already meet up for quite a while and is about over 5 years friendship, other than that it's a No-no.

Anyway back to the topic, there were a lot of victims lately because of this scam where you need to spend money first. Only newbies that lack awareness could be fooled by those scammers in my POV, good thing you asked on the right forum and the right people OP.  ;)

Bitcoin ATMs are meant to be used in person. I would check out Coin ATM Radar (https://coinatmradar.com/) to locate a Bitcoin ATM in your neighborhood.

I would not trust someone from another country to purchase Bitcoin from an ATM for you.

Greed is swallowing you.

I can offer you even larger than that but it could just be a lie.
Think about it!! It is too good to be true.
Friend of an Uncle? C'mon! I could tell you that I am your brother right now from another Father and I can make stories just about your basic information.

Sending money for what? What did you do for him that will make him pay that large amount?
There are not much people now who just gives money even with just a penny.

it's a scam. definitely.

i've used bitcoin ATM's in america. once, several weeks ago. the ATM did not require anything like what you are describing.

do not EVER send someone money expecting them to send you more money back. ever. as an example: did you mother call you from her death bed and ask you to send five dollars so she can send you 50? it's a scam. it's not your mother, they are lying.

SCAM. do NOT send money to this person or anyone associated with them, EVER.

He is not just a liar but a scammer, and a serial one most probably. Do not communicate with your friend ever again. If you do not send him that amount he might give you another option, a sort of a compromise to make things smoother, just so that you will be releasing a certain amount. To avoid all further moves from this scammer better cut your communication totally. There is no Bitcoin ATM that would collect as high as $700 simply to verify.

Maybe the reason for that is because of the huge price that you are trying to sell, imagine if you are sending 30,000 dollar worth of bitcoin, the transactions fee is quite too high as well. But to the point that the transaction fee goes for about 700 dollars is quite not normal. May be there are some errors on the codes that is used to program the percentage of the payment to confirm the transaction that you are about to create. I advise that you contact the support team of that particulat bitcoin atm.

Many members here say that they have never tried a Bitcoin ATM, I am among those who have never tried it and have never seen it. Scam or not I myself can not conclude because I have not tried it myself. Bitcoin ATMs are certainly still in the process of development and there are still many weaknesses. Rather than transacting at bitcoin ATMs, I trust more in exchanges such as Binance, Huobi, Okex and others. You can also buy bitcoin at people who offer trusted bitcoin buying and selling services, with fees which are certainly cheaper than ATM bitcoins.

it looks like a scam. because as far as I know in bitcoin the atm only deducts the cost from the amount of bitcoin that is sent, not we who send some money for verification. so it is definitely a scam and fraud

using bitcoin atm is probably one of the easiest ways to trade but it is also very possible for users to experience fraud honestly at this time I have never used bitcoin atm for transactions or other purposes.
But I am very sure what you say seems really a scam because so far I have never heard of such a thing if we want to send or receive bitcoin via atm, you should not send money to that friend so you won't suffer losses.

Yes it is definitely a scam, and OP should never trust his so-called friend anymore.

And also, there is no such thing where you will send money directly to a person, then after that, you will gain money. There is no other intention to this but a clear scam.

Title: Re: please help me about bitcoin atm! SCAM or No

I am very sure that such a method is clearly a scam, it's better not to follow his request. Because of the trap of sending money to
candidates victims but potential victims must pay first money for certain conditions is a characteristic of fraud that is often used
by scammers. Always be careful with that kind of thing, the logic is that if people want to give money they will not ask for conditions.
Moreover this is sending via ATM, there are no such rules in any type of ATM. Asking for $ 700 for verification requirements is a lie.

Title: Re: please help me about bitcoin atm! SCAM or No

The ATM is not a scam, but I have my doubts about the friend saying that the ATM is asking for a $700 verification fee. It might be that the $700

is just the lower limit when you want to send bitcoins without some verification and that it requires more verification before you can send such a

large amount. I would rather open a online wallet for your uncle and send the bitcoins in small amounts via the wallet to a Bitcoin wallet to avoid

these limits. I also think the friend is the scammer here, ask him to take a photo of that message with his phone and then paste it here, so that we

can give you better advice.  ;)

A normal transaction takes a penny as fee so how come that would be even 700x greater?
Think about it, you already mentioned being a scam.

I would rather get myself a new bank account just for that and exchange at some online exchanger such as Coinbase.

I think this is a scam because you don't need to send some Bitcoin to make the transaction confirmed, only the miner fee is necessary. You should ask your friend to send Bitcoin with a regular wallet like Blockchain.

Indeed, that person you consider as friend is only trying to deceive you and take advantage of you because you don't have enough understanding about bitcoin ATM's. If I were you, I'm going to have some research to find out if he's telling the truth or not, it seems like he's just getting the benefits he wanted from you so you should be cautious particularly these days because you can't easily say people's true intention.

LOL, that's very clear of fraud. I prefer not to use a bitcoin ATM at all if the system is like that. Well, even for bitcoin trading, people are still considering fees even though it's 0.001 bitcoin. if it's your best friend, he lied to his advantage. LOL, $ 700 for 1 transaction, I suggest not doing it.

@omidkhs let me guess this is an online friend of yours, and you’re getting a good deal trading with him but I would like to break your heart by telling you that this is a big scam and advise you to stay away from him. Also remember that whenever you’re dealing with bitcoins the person sending bitcoins has to pay the fees, and the recipient never has to pay any kind of fees. I’m glad you used your mind and decided to take a second opinion otherwise you could have been scammed, and would have lost your $700.

Not even it is your friend such amount is huge and there's no way you can send transactions to bitcoin atm more likely it's your friend btc address and
he will benefits once you send the bitcoin. Be very careful and good thing that OP ask first, never to send anything without any knowledge regarding to
the transactions that you will going to deal with. That amount of money can be scammed out of your hands.

<...>
A couple of considerations:

- I presume that your realive needs to purchase the BTC, since he is holding 30K$ to send over to you. Purchasing BTC on an ATM machine is normally pretty steep in terms of purchasing fees (look at https://coinatmradar.com/bitcoin-atm-near-me and filter by California). The fees seem to be between 6,7% and nearly 20%, a massive amount that he would probably need to pay out of the 30K being converted.

- Being the above the case, I figure he wants to use a BTC ATM for anonymity reasons. If so, someone is going to have to show some ID there due to the amount being sent (unless it’s been done in smaller batches). That may go against the objective on the sender's side.

The 700$ is certainly not going to go towards confirming the TX, and is way lower that the purchase fee that will be applied as per those announced on ATMs in California, so it doesn’t really add up (less of all sending it to an address "tied" to the ATM).

wow .. amateur scam way, I guess. I personally have never used a bitcoin ATM even though it's already in my country too. But for any reason as a form of transaction, there is no requirement to send 700 USD in any form just to confirm the transaction or verification.

The question, Do you really talk to your friend? or a friend you just met last week ??

Because even though I have never experienced a transaction using a bitcoin ATM I know that you do not need to send a fee to your friend's wallet to continue the transaction, this is clearly a scam.

This is a cheap scam. How can you send him money to confirm transaction before sending you $30k? Do you have any business deal with him or what? You had better be careful of cheap tricks, I get many persons on telegram asking me to send them money before sending me bitcoin that their bitcoin is stuck. Even though I have never use a bitcoin ATM but this is a clear scam scenario.

Obviously, it is. I may not using a bitcoin ATM but this is not the way you have to send money. ATM is already have some cash inside (i'm refering to fiat) at least. There has to be some kind of a store or banks that own the ATM. We can't send money through ATM though unless it has an address to confirm the transaction and that address his friend giving is probably his and not the ATM.

is there anything like this in usa ?
also he says i send money to atm and it is pending for your 700$ verification from your distance wallet

This is a scam for sure, you will only lise those $700 and you will never see the $30k. Thos service to ask you for money to make a withdrawal always ends with the service running out with your Money.

If he wants $700 to send you $30k why he doesn't take the $700 from the $30k?

And one last question, if he wants to send you $30k, why he wants to use an ATM? he can send that in BTC to your addy and let you exchange the money in your country.

This is a trap my friend, be careful.

Is he really your friend? That's definitely a scam. No transaction would ask you for a fee which is high as that. If that person is willing to send you something, he wouldn't ask you for a certain amount of BTC. Be careful with this kind of scamming strategy. Be wiser than scammers.

This could be trapped in you if you dont have to send it yet but if you already send it to your friend, that is your loss. A friend will give you on that much amount of bitcoin? $30K in bitcoin worth and then you need to spend $700 for the confirmation in the transaction. Come on! That is a big scam and don't trust random people that come from the internet. Stay away on that kind of people they are not a true friend.

The ATM is not a scam. It's your "friend". You're just confusing... Others might think ATMs are scams. Though I haven't tried one but it's the person who's obviously a scam. Maybe he's just taking advantage because he knew that you don't know much about this kind of things. So don't fall for it!! Why would you send bigger money for you to receive a smaller amount of money? even if he sends you $30, and you sent him $700, you obviously lost $670.

What kind of friend would try to scam you? I think that he is not your friend, just a stranger that told you he can send you money over bitcoin ATM.
If the case asks you to send money to an address in order to get money back then it is 101% scam.

Add one more:
https://coinatmradar.com/bitcoin_atm/1909/bitcoin-atm-general-bytes-fontana-smokers-1st-choice/

I picked that at random, all the ATMs listed have a message like this at the bottom of the page:

Quote
WARNING! Have you been suggested a job opportunity and then asked to send bitcoins using ATM? Or found a great deal, e.g. car on craiglist, and was asked to pay in bitcoins using ATM? You are highly likely a victim of a scam. Read FAQ for details!

But the whole story is a bit fishy, I think the author is leaving a few details that might change the whole thing 180 degrees.
Anyhow, if that's what he wants, his choice, he has received enough red flags so he won't get scammed....I hope!

Why don't you tell "your friend" to send the $30000 via peer-to-peer exchange like localbitcoin or something?  We don't even pay that much ($700) for normal Bitcoin fee no matter the amount we want to transfer. Besides, I don't know of any crypto payment service that transfers fund that way without charging fees immediately

Anything which asks for unrealistic money is a scam and in this case 700$ to confirm the transaction is only a scam. Secondly if you friend what to send any amount of bitcoin to you, why don't he send it directly to his wallet and there is no need for bitcoin ATM to be used for this purpose.

Many people commit fraud like this, but this certainly looks quite strange. however $ 30k is very much so seeing $ 700 is very small. Don't be fooled by something like that, friend. blockchain does not need another shipment to confirm the transaction unless there is a long delivery. however, you can ask your friend to help use the money first, when $ 30k is in your wallet, you can replace the money you borrowed from your friend.

I think it is very risky in your part because it is like you need to invest or put money first in the atm bitcoin before you get the $30,000 which is your friend gives to you, because so many cases in the exchangers that you need first to deposit money in order to get your earnings in some exchangers and bitcoin atm. And it is very risky because you need a very large amount of money in order to get your money and you don't know if it would be a scam or not because maybe after you deposit money the atm will suddenly shutdown and your money will loss. Verification for around $700 is very risky so think about it first.

It could be for two possible reason, one is that the experience of the user is real and he really needs the advise of the forum members here to solve his problem, and second, he is just exaggerating things on his mind and his issue is just a mere product of thinking for possibilities that for me is still okay. Because in this case, we could brain storm and think of possible scenarios that might happen in bitcoin and cryptocurrency space that we could already provide solution in other words, to prepare us when OP's problem arrives in reality.

That looks like a scam to be honest, I mean, if he's your friend and wants to give you 30k$ which it's a huge amount of money, he wouldn't ask for 700$ for you to pay? I mean it's not logic because it can be like one transaction with that amount and he shouldn't pay like 700$ for fees, it's gonna be just a few dollars for that. Just be careful do deal with that guy, because it seems fishy and he just wants to get your 700$ and scam you.

You noticed it yourself that there's something wrong, it's because that is really wrong. Your friend is just trying to trick you. Why would you pay that amount of money to verify the transaction? If you send him money, he might not send you the money he was talking about so better be careful. But first, do you know the reason why he wants to give you money? If there's no any appropriate reason why he wants to give you money, then ask him first.

LOL.

I would not use any centralized product to transfer Bitcoin (and other crypto currency) with that huge amount. Usually, they ask for more and more verification before you can send lot amount of crypto currency.

In your case, it doesn't make sense. It is either you are scammed by your friend or the ATM need more money.

It turns out that such cases or fraud can occur in the crypto world as well, because such cases often occur in the real world with the reason of having to pay taxes or as verification or whatever reason must be handled for immediate processing.
and although I have never done transactions using bitcoin atm, but such an event is clearly a fraud.

hi guys
one of my friends want to send me 30000$ bitcoin from america california with easybit bitcoin atm
but he  says you should send 700$ to atm bitcoin wallet to confirm transaction!
is there anything like this in usa ?
also he says i send money to atm and it is pending for your 700$ verification from your distance wallet
he says just in usa atm machins needs this verification
is he lier or not ?

At first, people will think this is truly a type of scam on Bitcoin. However, few people know that BTC transaction or transfer have fees with it. How? This is due to the increasing data on BTC transfer. Earlier, few transcations are happening on Bitcoin. However, due to more people using it, transaction fees have gone off the chart. This is because of the space Bitcoin block occupies and there is no room for transaction with low fees. Another thing, is that transaction usually takes 21-30 days depending on the block you will pay with the transaction fee. The more you pay, the less days your transaction will take.

However, there are also certain counter measurements to lessen your transaction fee. You can use address wallets that can reduce 50-70% of the total transaction fee, fee recommendation websites, or sites that allow you to decide your own transaction fee instead of a forced recommended fee structure.

But your instincts to ask for help here is also good because you get to know important facts aboout BTC transactions. Hope this helps.

In normal transactions, it doesn't need money for verification, it's very unusual and risky to put your money there.
I recommend you to not use and centralized platform when making a transaction in bitcoin.

The whole purpose of bitcoin will be disregarded and I think it's better to use local money transfer than this BTC atm, it's probably a scam.
700$ is huge money, I can live for a few months with that money, isn't it obvious? 700$ for a verification? really.  ???

Be careful about what you're trying to do in your money.

I have never used a Bitcoin ATM before, but I also don't need anyone to tell me that this is a scam. Like seriously, are you sure that this is your friend or someone you just met online and all of a sudden you think they are your friend?

I wonder what kind of business you're doing with such a person that will require him to tell you to send $700 for verification, lol, that's a big scam and you don't even need anyone to tell you. Maybe you should try telling them to make use of other payment methods like TransferWise or PayPal, and you will see how they will try to divert the topic.

Whoever that person is, he or she is a full time scammer lol. Don't send the $700 to tell them, and I know for sure that they are not your friend.

He is your trusted friend or not as you first to sent $700 before sent back to you $30,000, how come you look so stupid with not really trusted transaction and not logic with our mind, just sending $700 and then your friend sent back more than $30,000. You are really scam by your friend, there are no way possible will sent to you if you want sent $700 to your friend.

I have never used Bitcoin ATM, so I have never seen how it works. But if he asks you to deposit $ 700 to verify the wallet address and verify the transaction then I think you need to think carefully because it is most likely a scam.
On the blockchain, we do not need to send anything to verify, if he is an unfamiliar friend, it is best to stay away from him.

maybe not many people have ever used a bitcoin ATM because of regional limitations. and in some countries there is also no bitcoin ATM, so it's quite natural if you never use it, including me. And to make transfers we must always be careful in doing so

Using Bitcoin ATMs doesn't make much sense. Because it is still a developing technology. It is risky to try a new technology for the first time. In addition, Bitcoin ATMs charge too much. I would try, though, near me: d I would like to exchange a small amount of Bitcoin at the ATM.

In many cases, if someone is promised to receive a gift with a quite fantastic, making people unable to think healthy again. if the gift is followed by something we must do with payment in order to receive what has been promised, it should immediately suspect. if you really want to give a great value why not all of the costs will be borne? why make it difficult that you have to accept? need to be wise to see a situation like this.

why not reduce 700$ from your friend? so he just send about 29300$? im not sure if you want to make transaction, the receiver must send bitcoin first to verif that transaction. its scam, and many problem in real life like that.

Need to pay attention to brokerage fees. It would make more sense to consult a person who used the same method. And it's getting harder. I think it would make sense to withdraw the money by sending it directly to a place. These problems may not exist in the future. Only Bitcoin will be used for payments and we will not need the dollar. (They guess)

$ 700 is only used to confirm Bitcoin transactions.
I think this is too much and will only waste your money. Better to transfer using other platforms than having to use a Bitcoin ATM. I myself do not know what a bitcoin ATM is and where I am also not available. Fee is usually only charged by the sender of bitcoin, we as bitcoin recipients will not be charged.
If you don't pay the $ 700 fee will the money be held and can't be taken?

You need to ask yourself, is your friend really want to give sincerely or is there just something hidden to do? if friend sincerely give, but why do you have to pay even though what friend want to give is large enough and can be partly to pay. but why don't your friends do it? I hope you can think clearly about this.

It does not matter whether it is cryptocurrency or ordinary money, the fact that you first need to transfer a certain amount of money is already alarming. That's bullshit. Do not mess with this. There are many other options for transferring cryptocurrencies.

SCAM! ALERT !

See I would be honest with you , I never used the atm and I have no intentions of using it soon enough but whenever someone asks to pay upfront and that too 700$ , you have to say NO!

Even if you wanna buy and sell Bitcoins , do it on a exchange platform, do not go ahead and do this , just calm down and ask him that you are not interested anymore.

It does not matter if it is a scam or not you cannot take risks .

from your story it looks like it's a scam
as usual the characteristics of the type of people who want to scam they are targeting people who are new to the world of crypto, with the lure of sending large amounts of bitcoin but on condition we have to send bitcoin or money first to him with a variety of other classic reasons

It is a scam.
He is just telling lies to you just to get easy money, $700 is a huge amount and I don't think that you need to pay someone just to confirm your transaction. Always remember that if someone asks you to send him money, and it is from someone you didn't know, it is a scam.

Old scam.
They will send you a check, you're going to a bank, cash in and then you're going to have to deposit 90% of the sum as a "test" to their bitcoin address.
The problem is that the check will bounce and you're going to be liable for the entire sum.

They have hundreds of so-called consulting or evaluation websites set up:
Bitcoin ATM evaluation Officer (https://forums.redflagdeals.com/bitcoin-atm-evaluation-officer-2300573/)
Is This A Bitcoin Scam!? Help!? (https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/fwt4rv/is_this_a_bitcoin_scam_help/)

People will fall for the trick of getting the money first and doing the job later, greed will take over and they are not realizing they will be liable for the entire sum.
