Title: ⚡️LightningVoucher—A banknote base on BTC LightningNetwork⚡️
Post by: BC.GAME on December 10, 2019, 10:51:55 AM
I have a crazy idea about "Lightning Voucher" (I'd rather call it Lightning Cash)
Thats a paper money build in Lightning Network via LNURL
Its elegant synthesis formula is as follows:
Banknote+LN = LightningVoucher

You could scan the QR code from the LightningVoucher to recieve the Sats!
So i could buy a beer with LightningVoucher if the bar accpet bitcoin lightning network!
It will help more muggles(no offense) to know and use the real bitcoin and i'm willing to sponsor a campaign about giving away LightningVouchers!
What do you think about that?
:p

It's a fancy prepaid card in a nutshell. Already has been done countless times... Except I believe something based on Lightning network, I haven't seen one of those.

I was at an event in NYC and someone was already selling BTC on paper with scratch-off QR codes for private/public keys.

There is a similar service that is called FastBitcoins which basically serve the same purpose, except that you don't need to print anything there, and it's more of a gift card code.

Personally, I don't think these services being used by a large amount of people. Especially if you're going to centralize it and make these vouchers only redeemable on your website.

BTC is not instant
But BTC LightningNetwork could transfer the satoshis to your own wallet within 1s

These vouchers are redeemable on every lightning wallet via LNURL—Lightning Network UX protocol

I think in the next 5 years, LNURL will become one of the mainstream methods of BTC payment

Sounds interesting. Have you started anything yet or just brainstorming?

When you talk about banknotes, does this mean that the value of that voucher is fixed and that no more money can be added to it? It is like using paper money? Exchanges are made to currencies after checking that they have a balance.
Either it will work as an idea to print a public/private key on paper but using LN?

I think working on the first idea would be best since the private key can only be known by tearing parts of the paper.

What features may be offered to merchants?

Sounds like a good idea. Implement it in bc.

Or you could simply use your smart phone.
I don't get the reason why something physical (printed) is necessary for that.

What would be the benefit compared to a LN transaction?

Just FYI - if you are even planning on thinking about this idea, you should edit the thread title ASAP - you don't want to draw any unwanted attention by hinting you are a "bank".  Probably just a bad choice of a word, but don't give them any ammo to come after you with.  :)

Problem with this paper money based on Lightning Network is that it can be easily counterfeited.
Even dollars for example, can be printed and fake, but for LN we have nobody to control paper bills.
