Title: What do you think of the current status of Bitcoin?
Post by: pakhitheboss on December 10, 2019, 05:21:32 PM
Hi, all!

I just wanted to ask what you think we as a community achieved in 2019.

For me every year and every day has been amazing and awesome!!

Although, there are many issues with Bitcoin but considering what it was in 2016 what it is now? Bitcoin is known! Why?

If I only think about the Fiat value of Bitcoin now and what it was 4 years back there is a huge upward swing.
If I think about its adoption then and now there are so many websites accepting Bitcoin.
If I think about Is Bitcoin a Ponzi Scheme there are so many articles arguing Bitcoin legitimacy to those MLM schemes.
If I think about how difficult was to understand this concept, there are amazing articles on the Internet to help you.

I know there are so many reasons but, I cannot recall all of those.

Write it down below if I have missed something.

And hopefully there will be more counties like Ukraine in 2020. Anyways, even this question is too controversial.

I just wanted to ask what you think we as a community achieved in 2019.

It's been another year of constant uptime for the Bitcoin network -- compare that to any bank. That's a huge achievement in and of itself.

In terms of awareness, 89% of American adults have now heard of Bitcoin (https://medium.com/blockchain-capital-blog/bitcoin-is-a-demographic-mega-trend-data-analysis-160d2f7731e5), according to a survey by The Harris Poll. The survey also revealed that 9% of the population owns some bitcoin.

When you talk about the current status of Bitcoin you can see it from two different points of view:

The economic status: Bitcoin still high nowadays, and the current price brings big speculation, It is hard to predict if it will go up or down. But right now i would say it has a nice price.

The technology status: Right now Bitcoin is in version 0.19.0.1, se we have seen some nice steps in the bitcoin coding this year. So, this side is looking good too.

schnorr signatures are finally on the way! sipa published draft BIPs specifying how taproot and schnorr can be implemented in bitcoin:
https://lists.linuxfoundation.org/pipermail/bitcoin-dev/2019-May/016914.html

lightning network adoption is also chugging along nicely. as of right now, there are more than 10k nodes, 35k payment channels, and a total of 850 BTC capacity across the network. https://twitter.com/LNstats/status/1204193806758948869

Ukraine’s Ministry working to legalize bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies and also provide tax code which may be ready by the end of the year.
Most countries around the world divided into 4 conditions;
- cryptocurrencies are banned and forbidden to use it.
- cryptocurrencies are not banned in the country, have no official status but citizens still can trade it.
- cryptocurrencies are not banned in the country, have an official status and regulated as commodities or assets and people must pay taxes for every profit they earn.
- cryptocurrencies are legal to use as a form of money such as in Japan.

We can expect more people aware of and adopt bitcoin without govs regulation, but it's something that has to happen sooner or later, then taxes will follow behind it.

Also in terms of price, bitcoin has achieved something big already this 2019.

https://coinmarketcap.com/historical/20190106/

from $4k to the current price, that's almost 50% jump already. Of course we would love to see it getting to 5 digit mark, but we will have to wait.

The current status of Bitcoin is good as there are still believers and supports the development even though some investors of 2017 already left out the cause of big loss from their investment.
Bitcoin will achieve more in the next few years aside from being recognized and adopted in some countries. It may not be fully legal but the government is open and not strict in using crypto.

The current status is much better than last year. We see that even All time high reached many already believes in BTC since many still don't know it exist. Bitcoin still have lots of future ahead on it, for now let's just appreciate that it still able to pump or increase even some countries restricted the use of it.

We are about to see the continuous growth of the Bitcoin network globally. If this huge change and market adoption and therefore, we can expect that sooner or later this mode of payment will be more useful than of fiat.

We have already this kind of awareness, in fact, it continues to spread but the problem is some people think to be just a scam as what some news says. It affects the growth and stability of Bitcoin but somehow, it couldn't be a reason for the stoappage of its adoption. By little to little, the crypto market will dominate over fiat and may help to change negative thoughts turn into positive.

The unconfirmed transactions became lower this year compare to last few years. I remember looking at the numbers of those unconfirmed txs was disappointing but the network has upgraded a lot and lessened it.

2,506 at the moment.

Not only websites that are using bitcoin but also Merchants and some institutions who are already joined this kind of advanced technology.

On the other hand, while not everyone are convinced about bitcoin's capability, there are still more people who are in need of bitcoin now. The convenience and the investment category helps bitcoin enthusiast to grow that is why other people are also encourage to adopt bitcoin.

Over the past years and comparing to this current year. The world is slowly adopting it before it was even so hard to use your bitcoins for goods and services but now you can use your BTC to all sorts of things, before it was only used in darkwebs now crypto currency has pretty much access to anything including cashing out to fiat.

This is a big step forward that shows the progress of bitcoin with time. Though US is portrayed a grown country it too has got poor people and people who really suffer poverty. Among them 85% of the population knowing about bitcoin is really a big thing and this will happen with more other countries. 9% owning bitcoin is almost 33million people owning bitcoin. Big growth...  :o

Still a long way to go before coming into mainstream payment system.
Yep, but I have doubts as to whether that's actually going to happen.  Ever.  As it stands, people are very happy using their smartphones, debit cards, or cash to pay for things--and those payment methods have worked just fine for a very long time.  It would take a crisis of unimaginable magnitude for bitcoin to become the go-to currency for daily spending.  As for me, I'm not going to hold my breath and I'm fine with bitcoin being an investment.

However, bitcoin really is a good currency for people who want a measure of privacy when buying things online.  You can't do that with paper money.  And bitcoin has achieved some adoption with web merchants, so that's progress.

Also in terms of price, bitcoin has achieved something big already this 2019.
That's definitely true.  Bitcoin is certainly down from the 2019 high, but it's still much higher than it was at the beginning of the year.  I think people tend to forget that.

The price of bitcoin swing down again but it is okay as long as the price will not breakdown because there will be role reversal where support will become resistance and the price will gradually decline again. It is still consolidating but if the 200 MA strike down then we will see a good movement. If the 200 MA will become support then we will see how the bearish will be beaten by bullish.

although at the moment the price of bitcoin is decreasing I'm sure bitcoin can pump again we just need to wait and be patient.

Globally, the current status of bitcoin is very good, even very rapid development than in previous years.
More and more popular, yes, many people know what bitcoin is, many also use bitcoin, including several marketplaces.
My hope in 2020 at least bitcoin can be regulated and then legally used so that more impacts can be obtained, this is not just talking about prices but how we can implement bitcoin for the benefit of many people.

Bitcoin is getting stronger as the days passes by and the acceptance is getting bigger as more countries are legalizing the use of Bitcoin and other crypto currencies.

Though the demand this year is not that high compared to peak seasons but the Bitcoin dominance this year is very high compared to other currencies which is more than 50%. Bitcoin is getting famous also as more and more people are starting to know Bitcoin as the time passes by.

I think this 2019 year hasn't brought to us any special issue on the Bitcoin context, It's true that the whole world has been suffering a lot of on the monetary system, so Bitcoin is not out of this system, Here the international politics and policies are also involved for the further flourishing Bitcoin or other anything, but if you have looked for the technological aspect then you see the up-gradation of Bitcoin.   But the value of Bitcoin is not an eye-catcher during this year, Most of Bitcoin user has a strong expectation that the price of Bitcoin would get high but it's a disappointing matter year for me.

Integrating trading of cryptocurrencies on virtual currency exchanges

Buying and selling cryptocurrencies on a virtual currency exchange is a new wind, which is hard to resist for investors today. This is a new trend of financial investment with little capital and extremely attractive, so it attracts many ambitious investors.

In recent years, cryptocurrencies or cryptocurrencies have been the most searched term on google. Because the value of this currency continuously increases sharply and helps many investors get rich quickly in a short time. However, this is also a risky market, causing many people to fall into disarray. Therefore, when participating in buying and selling cryptocurrencies on the exchange, you need to find out carefully, always update the latest information to have the right investment direction.

It has definitely picked up the pace and built a solid foundation of trust, which correlates to its market value. However, even with the said achievements, Bitcoin has still a lot of room to grow and problems to go through. Problems with scalability and power consumption are just some of the weaknesses ot currently has. Also to mention problems in hacking and unidentifiable transactions of illegal activities.

the problem will always be in the crypto field, but so far the problems that are present can still be overcome, maybe fraud with instead of bitcoin will always be there but the level of popularity of bitcoin I'm sure will continue to grow. and current conditions may still not be good for the price but I'm sure bitcoin will continue to grow

For me, bitcoin's current situation is just a natural because in everytime I read articles or any news about bitcoin it's always negative and the percentage of positive is not that higher but the price is lifting or its not moving. so I think for this current status of bitcoin and market is not that bad. 2019 is about to end and another good news will appear so lets start thinking positive so it will spread and everyone had a good vibe to accumulate more.

Although the upcoming events will bring new positive changes, I guess that we need to wait for more because I am not sure that if before or after bitcoin halving, the price can surge to a higher rate. But yes, in the long term, bitcoin prices will increase so high, and we cannot predict how much the higher bitcoin price will increase. We can hope that in the next year, bitcoin will be more popular so bitcoin can reach more people from all countries no matter if the government does not yet approve crypto or bitcoin.

Which is one of the good things about bitcoin. Its usage is easy and it does not need the hassle of opening a bank account to receive a transaction.

There are problems in every field and bitcoin is no exception to it. But many of the problems like scams can be prevented if you are aware of how scams occur and know how to keep your money safe. Thats also true for a any fiat storage system.

MLM and ponzi scams that happen are often misleading people in thinking bitcoin is behind it. Thats wrong, because scammers use bitcoin as the mode of payment, not by using bitcoin are they scamming. The methods of MLM scams are also seen in fiat. One who is diligent enough there will be able to protect from scam with bitcoin as well.

The halving event will bring a positive change on the current bitcoin's status since the previous halving did it so or we are going to see different halving now due to market difference compared the halving that happened in the past. Great news towards bitcoin? I guess not, news are rooting for blockchain and not on bitcoin generally but that might be the gate for people to be open with cryptocurrencies especially bitcoin and with that we can expect a surge on the bitcoin's price.

For me it has grown me more experience and information at this wonderfull cryptocurrency world.

I have been gambling way more often and winning like never seen before.
Only time will tell how much profit i will take from price fluctuations from my investments as well.

What i have seen about bitcoin's price is that it become so stable around the 6k mark, 7k and so on.

We are not seeing it going under 5k (thank god) for now and that motivates more investors and more countries to adopt it.

Bitcoin today is undisputed king of crypto - in 2017 there was time when ETH came close to flipping it, and many people thought that shitcoins will actually replace Bitcoin, because of cheaper fees or more features, but time has proven that Bitcoin's fundamentals are much stronger than all shitcoins combined.

I am glad that I see further adoption of technologies like lightning. If we see more such attempts to build upon the trustlesness of BTC and its immutable POW decentralization while maintaining these advantages, I'm sure we'll be coming closer to a viable replacement for FIAT.

There is a payment system platform who decided to accept bitcoin which is mean in my country bitcoin will be widely known. This is just the matter of time, we will see some people who get interest to bitcoin has been popping up and learn how bitcoin and cryptocurrency is.

Digitalization will change everyone's mindset and I'm sure bitcoin will be easily be understood by people. And they will compel to their government in order to accept and recognize the utilzation of bitcoin. And I hope 2020 is the right year to achieve that.

Well, indirectly many argue that bitcoin has little resemblance to the Ponzi scheme. prices that increase dramatically in 2017 and then crashed in 2018 until now are very unnatural. I personally can not describe the details, but as if there was manipulation in every news about Bitcoin

Even there are no big changes in the price of Bitcoin still it acquired a something else that could be a big impact sooner. I am pertaining to the adoption of some countries and big businesses. This massive adoption could give potential growth to the value of Bitcoin in the future, we may not feel it yet but perhaps after the bearish market, we might feel the changes. Regarding the Bitcoin's value, I think it still eye-catcher but not the same as like it before. Frankly, we are getting used to for Bitcoin having a huge price that is why by making a little dip folks are making FUD.

Comparing the bitcoin in 2016 in today's bitcoin we could all agree that the bitcoin completely improved through the past years.
Surely the bitcoin community is not bigger in the past year the market of bitcoin is also so volatile which is a good thing for investment and investors to circular the investment.
A lot of company is considering bitcoin as a good asset for their company and we could see that bitcoin this day is not being used in a lot of transactions online.

Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies have seem to have stagnated as of late. Bitcoin is stuck around $7500 per coin. It's having a difficult time crossing the threshold of and staying above the $8000 price mark.
The best thing to do is to remain optimistic,  hoping for a successful and bright future.

Bitcoin is not a ponzi scheme but ponzi schemes uses it to scam people, and therefore people think that it is a ponzi scheme, but it is really not, i.e. fiat is also being use in illegal activities, corruption, fraud, and even scamming people, yet, they do still love it beyond those cruel things that is happening 'till now in the society, you might ask what is the reason why people still trust fiat, well it is because the Government says so.

We always listen to the Government having this mindset that they all know what's the best for us and they will not recommend something that will be bad for us, no, that is entirely wrong, fiat is worst than cryptocurrency, that is all to that.

It is still a baby so many things we could consider to happen in the next years to come.

Bitcoin.
Recently, I talked with a guy about it out of nowhere. First it was because of me asking if he have the other option to which I could pay since I didn't bring much cash and I see a lot of good items in his store.
Negative. Just cash. Then, the story started.
He bought bitcoin at 13k and then said to me that he forgot about it and asked how much bitcoin is by now.
I said 7k then more story came out.

These guy is a merchant and he believes in bitcoin but yet he could not afford to make it as one of the payment option.
He says it might become a disaster.
We should really wait for that.
Once this merchant see more clarity in what bitcoin could really do then it will be a blast.

If we take into account the price of Bitcoin price in 2015-2016 then Bitcoin has increased many folds but the the its trading much below from all time high in end of 2017. Bitcoin is not a ponzi scheme for sure, its price depends upon demand and supply as of any financial market but it is highly volatile. Bitcoin has given recolonization to blockchain technology, its reach is increasing day by day. I believe Bitcoin will be accepted by many big giants in future and its value shall increase.

If I only think about the Fiat value of Bitcoin now and what it was 4 years back there is a huge upward swing.
This kind of view changed a lot with me. I am not looking much to the value now. Just want to hoard more as long as I can afford it.

If I think about its adoption then and now there are so many websites accepting Bitcoin.
Not yet, bitcoin is not that much seen with web stores by now. They are still accepting the most known like Paypal and others which have the same services. As long as has the same value as fiat.

If I think about how difficult was to understand this concept, there are amazing articles on the Internet to help you.

Doesn't need an article. You are already here. Why go far?  ;D

I agree that we may never see retailers actually starting to accept Bitcoins as a means of payment because I saw how readily most retailers were when it came to them accepting Facebooks Libra but they don't give notice to Bitcoins because they fear they might lose money when the Price of Bitcoins falls but with Libra as the same value of the dollar they have no fears of that happening.

you just have to wait. Do some buying of alts I guess as well while waiting.

No one can actually predict on it but we can always see the positive side, as the price is becoming stable and I think that we will have at least good price before the end of the year, but of course if our expectation did not met, let's not lose our hope as this is not yet the end of the year, and yet we can still establish more earnings in the future not only in Bitcoin.

It seems to buy something in a market that is so unclear, so risky, at least waiting is far better than losing money bro, so it doesn't hurt if someone waits for moments to come at all altcoin / bitcoin prices later on ... .

Rather than talking about the price, as an overall insight about bitcoin, Bitcoin community is continuously growing every year. A lot issues and problems Bitcoin had faces through the years but it still remains the same– even stronger actually... We are slowly by slowly moving forward to mass adoption. It will take quite a lot of time, but as long as we keep on believing in Bitcoin, they can't stop its growth.

Well, indirectly many argue that bitcoin has little resemblance to the Ponzi scheme. prices that increase dramatically in 2017 and then crashed in 2018 until now are very unnatural. I personally can not describe the details, but as if there was manipulation in every news about Bitcoin
Cause people think that Bitcoin is out from reality and makes them think that this is another form of scamming activity.
Believe that the current market trend isn't a big drama between whales, and also I don't think that there is a huge market manipulation bringing to a long bearish season of crypto. Even though if the market will continue to show like this till next year, but my trust in the system is still there. I don't want to blame the whales cause they do things that they think are right.

You can't blame the other people for not trusting bitcoin now because I think they have their own reasons why they have to be that way. Some people may think it is another scam due to the misinformation they got from someone somewhere. Whales are already in the market nothing we could do to avoid it let's just follow their lead there's nothing wrong with that.

For me, at this moment the best growth of bitcoin is been accepted in different payment method and many companies is now recognized as money. Besides, many people already know what bitcoin is but still, they are not capable to invest because they are afraid and some of them does not have knowledge about it. In terms of the price of bitcoin it still not in a good condition but somehow we could say that after halving we can full recovery on it's price. As of now, more countries started to legalized bitcoin and it is a good start on spread the word bitcoin.

The increasing of value, how much acceptance has grown and the coin has risen in price because of trust in it. This is very important, because it is trust that is the most valuable what Bitcoin has

Apparently, bitcoin is not in bad shape right now, it is holding a hefty price tag, which is what other Altocoins are doing. More and more companies are returning to use or introducing bitcoin, which is great for our users.
But I think the period that follows is not easy for bitcoin, according to recent analyzes, there are fewer people holding Bitcoin.

Aside the price of bitcoin which many keep on ranting about as they can't hold their balls any longer everything is going on fine with me. Rightly as you said, the exposure of bitcoin is getting larger and larger hence many people are getting to know about it more than they did a decade ago. What is really stifling the growth of bitcoin is the bad breath from governments and strict rules and regulations concerning it. On general i think we are doing good and 2020 will definitely be a good year for all bitcoin holders.

You are correct in saying that from 2016 till date, bitcoin has made so much advancement in every aspect. Still a long way to go before coming into mainstream payment system.
If we go back and compare where Bitcoin is standing from the start of its journey in 2008 to present date its more amazing, in term of price, adoption and use cases.

the problem is that many more people joined in 2017 so majority probably so far lost on bitcoin

the problem is, why people join in 2017, not in the years before? people just believe when that thing go up first, than follow without thinking the next problem. and it cant be say that you lost bitcoin if you still have bitcoin

It is remarkable that the growth of bitcoin from being created until now has achieved some success, starting from the price increasingly
expensive. Then mass adoption is growing rapidly, as evidenced by the many bitcoin ATMs that have been spread across various countries
and also many merchants that accept payments with bitcoin. In my opinion the current status of bitcoin is not yet received official recognition
from most countries in the world, but most countries in the world also did not banned against bitcoin. Indeed there are some countries that
have legalized bitcoin officially, such as Japan and Ukraine, but the amount is still small. I hope that in the next few years the status of bitcoin
will change for the better, if possible, the status will become legal all over the world.

now bitcoin has become the main currency in cryptocurrency and bitcoin also dominates the crypto market.

There re several countries to be the first who legalize BTC. For examples, Ukraine  ;)

And hopefully there will be more counties like Ukraine in 2020. Anyways, even this question is too controversial.

I hope that when most of the country legalized bitcoin, it came or go beyond its price in the future. In reality, bitcoin price drops so that factor makes other countries to not legalized this cryptocurrency. When they see that this bitcoin is less certain than fiat, i'm pretty sure that they will choose fiat over bitcoin.

Maybe more countries will adopt bitcoin when it become the star in all cryptocurrency again. But for now, let other countries invest and trust bitcoin.

I feel no excitement every day as we aren't able to see any huge price change. Bitcoin isn't really in the bad shape, it is actually in good trend but some people never think it was good for some instances especially when you are buying Bitcoin at $10k, and you didn't get any profit since you've bought it.
I know myself, even I bought some BTC's at $8k and even it drops more but I could still resist my worries and stay calm.

They say bitcoin has greatly lost confidence. But let's face it, is it better to have bankers who print dollars that are not backed up by anything? Bitcoin even has a mathematical formula, but the issue of fiat funds cannot be called completely satisfying the needs of society. Everyone was interested in the game - they give us paper money so that we spend more, create debts and print money again. Maybe it's time to become wiser and invest in technology? Finally, I see that cryptocurrencies are valued positively in Europe
Now, bankers will say no, we do not support bitcoins, and they themselves will actively try to understand the technology for issuing cryptocurrency. They have no other chance to become part of the community and offer alternative coins to stay afloat. Look for the motives of people, they are hidden, but you should think in a category that is beneficial for the economy. And digital currencies, which also coexist with new technologies, are needed by every country.

Yes, for sure they won't support Bitcoin for now and we respect that since they are just telling what their boss told them, but banks are too greedy, for sure that once they have seen the number of transactions encountering everyday by people thru crypto for sure that they will find ways for them to adapt this and will add this to their transactions.

Banks will have to adapt to cryptocurrency, because people often start asking questions about who controls inflation, and there are doubts about how beneficial it is to keep fiat in a bank account. And when institutional investors enter the cryptocurrency, confidence in digital currencies will quickly increase.

Banks are just trying to stay in the game for as long as they can since they know crypto is superior to fiat in every way. I will keep half fiat half crypto and that way I have both and it is diverse and I can spend in all sorts of places. Online with crypto offline with fiat. They just need to find a good wat to introduce it to the general public.

Thats a risky move. Putting half of your trust in crypto can be risky as its future is still not clear. I think its better to make it 30/70, 30 for crypto and 70 for fiat related investment ( that can be commodity, gold, oil, equity, forex etc). I have allocated a fixed amount that goes into my crypto invetment portfolio.
We are underestimating the power of banks and think that it will very easily surrender in front of crypto. Lets see.

yeah... when it comes to negative thinkers- they were, they are and they will be, that's an inseparable part of any community. But I see your point, it's pretty easy to spread false information about that, it's a topic many people have no idea about. The worst thing is there are more and more scams and crimes connected to crypto, so the 'reputation' of digital currencies is being destroyed all the time.

indeed in a country's licensing we cannot expect much, because they have their own rules. and for the problem of current price conditions, in my opinion it is also quite good, and now it is better to prepare for the years to come.

Yep, you're right with every reason you have stated here, Bitcoin has grown a lot and there are still a lot of people that are joining the community everyday. Lots of websites are now accepting Bitcoin and I believe that there are still lots of them that will accept it. And right now there are a lot of things you can do with Bitcoin, even if you can pay direct to those services by using Bitcoin, you can make use of wallets like Bitpay to buy gift cards of those sites if they are available, like Amazon, Delta, Uber, Xbox and a lot of them.

There are also Bitcoin ATM and the number of them that are being opened keeps growing. This year has been a good year for Bitcoin and not just Bitcoin, but cryptocurrency as a whole, though the price has been low.

Looking at the positive side, bitcoin is currently growing that some countries are now starting to recognize and studying about blockchain technology and cryptocurrency. Sooner or later, they might start working on adopting it. Though on the contrary, along side with its continuous grow, hacking and scamming is also increasing. They're creating more ways on scamming people. If more people adopts and move into crypto, bad people will also do the same.

Your points are really amazing, the introduction of blockchain which gave birth to cryptocurrencies with Bitcoin been the first and leading coin in the crypto industry has not only yield early adopters profit but makes online transaction simple, secured and very fast compared to the centralized system where transactions takes days before delivery. Bitcoin has serve as source of employment for many youths which has greatly lead to the reduction of crimes round the globe. This year 2019 I have gain a lot from Bitcoin trading which I believed it as well gets to every trader.  So I believed its only those who comes in, in 2017 and get it at high rate before it drops and those that fall into wrong hand that will speak bad of this great evolving technoloy.

We always said that we need more implementation of the blockchain and the market dump made more people understand that bitcoin and blockchain are here to stay no matter what. The current status of the bitcoin needs to get into bullish and people will automatically start pouring in again.

Then that is not the current status of bitcoin I guess? Because for me knowing the fact that bitcoin today isn't profitable, I barely see that there is still a good potential to the big market uptrend in the near future. But what is more important to this discuss is what we are today in cryptocurrency space which I consider in a huge market correct phase where we can expect a sudden decline of the market anytime. But there's nothing to worry because as per the market analysis of most of the crypto enthusiasts, bitcoin halving will have a great effect to the future of bitcoin.

I don't think that bitcoin is not profitable for now, because as what I can see there are still some people who are making and earning money through the use of bitcoin although the market is suddenly at the bad moment right now,  there are still a few people who are keep on earning but I cannot say that those person are still earning huge but they are still earning little by little. And it's right that there are so many predictions and speculations what would probably happen after the bitcoin halving was done and we still don't know yet what it is and maybe that would be the current state of bitcoin right now.

Bitcoin has been through a lot for the pass 10 years of its existence in the financial world and the entire world in general. The current status of Bitcoin is that  a lot of people in the entire crypto space do not really understand and know what Bitcoin is and the real purpose of Bitcoin, they only see bitcoin as a digital asset.  The entire crypto space regards Bitcoin as a digital asset than a digital currency just like fiat currencies used for exchange of goods and services.  This has affected the rate at which Bitcoin is been adapted into the main stream financial ecosystem.  The idea of Bitcoin being a digital asset is affecting the way people see Bitcoin.

bitcoin growth is quite a lot in this world and also has positive impacts and also some negative impacts. but its technology is still very minimal in the know, I myself only learned of the great technology that exists after reading the bitcoin whitepaper in 2018, and before that I only saw bitcoin in terms of investment only

2019 was another stepping stone for Bitcoin to move forward and to reach more achievements and success. This year was a long journey for Bitcoin but there were lots of improvements and adoptions which we should consider as an advantage for the better situation of crypto in the coming years.

This is a year also of realization to many crypto users and understand better what's going in the market. Adoption is growing every day and that means the demand of crypto is also growing. This year is really a long journey for bitcoin attaining a more stabilized value as compared to previous years of its existence.

atleast btc achieved that right ? to become less volatile  .  that is also my wish before and now this year was a succesor  .

btc did seem to stabilize for a long time but the only problem is that its value dropped too much  . my happiness were cut off tbh but what i can do ? the year is almost over so i can only expect for a better price increase next year  .  now for this moment . i think i wont acumulate more btc but id only wait to see if btc recover next year   .  that would be my go signal to start the year

not much different from 2016, only the value is different, but Bitcoin has increased more, everyone has begun to believe, including the government, 2019 is the starting point for Bitcoin to go to the moon.

I think volatility is still a major issue for everyone involved in bitcoin trading. Perhaps more liquidity to crypto market may solve this issue.

Quote
Bitcoin's price volatility has been a source of doubt about its narrative both as digital cash and as digital gold.
The path out of this stasis is murky. Bitcoin's volatility has increased, while the percentage of bitcoin engaged in the market has remained flat. If stability and liquidity are part of bitcoin's road to becoming a more mature asset, the year 2019 has been a period of arrested development.

I think 2018 and 2019 become bad moment with bitcoin and altcoin have lower price, faced moment where bitcoin can growing up with higher price and keep stable with lower price always, now we will on new year 2020 and hope bitcoin can give new moment where bitcoin and altcoin have higher price again and give much profit for us and keep stay for investing with bitcoin again.

I just wanted to ask what you think we as a community achieved in 2019.

Despite some progress we are still having problems like this:

Study: Chinas btc Miners Control 66% of Global Hash Rate (https://cointelegraph.com/news/study-chinas-btc-miners-control-66-of-global-hash-rate)

As recently reported by Cointelegraph, Bitmain and Canaan Creative are the top mining chip suppliers in China. Meanwhile, Bitmain appears on track to monopolize China’s crypto mining market as some reports claim that the company accounts for 75% market share of the crypto hardware market worldwide.

and these are the latest news about Bitmain:

Wu Jihan resurfaces as Bitmain Ceo after Co-Founder is Forced Out (https://cointelegraph.com/news/wu-jihan-resurfaces-as-bitmain-ceo-after-co-founder-is-forced-out)

the price may rise a lot, more people may enter the crypto world, but for a long time china's nightmare will haunt us

For me, it is just staying at this price as of now, because it has not adjusted in terms of price and stays the same, maybe this last month of the year it may be pump up in terms of value, we all wish that it will happen. If that happens, the projects that are being developed last 2017 or the time it started to fall down may go recover also and can give what is being given to them, the only thing we are waiting as a bounty hunter and an investor is that the token will be listed if the market goes very well.

I think that Bitcoin at the moment, it is primarily an investment tool. Yes, it can be called a currency, but such a currency with an extremely unstable rate, few people will want to pay on a daily basis. Therefore, while the Bitcoin exchange rate is unstable, this asset is similar to a stock. Perhaps in the future this will change. Technology and the idea that Satoshi Nakamoto gave to the world can fundamentally change the economy. Many unnecessary intermediaries will disappear, money transfers will become cheaper, faster. Therefore, for me, Bitcoin is primarily a flagship payment project that shows humanity the way to free settlements.

Current status? Well, Bitcoin have achieved a lot this year, 2019. No one was expecting Bitcoin to go this far, I wasn't expecting the increase. I thought there was going to be an increase in 2018, and unfortunately there wasn't.

I thought this year was going to be the same thing due to experts were predicting there is going to be another fall for the market, then I was surprised, in April the price started to go up again and from $3000 to $13000 before settling for the current $7000 price. And it wasn't just for Bitcoin alone, some other cryptocurrencies did really well, like Chainlink. A lot of good things happened this year, plus ripple that has been able to secure a lot of partnerships.

The year started with the market being very low, and all of the sudden from April onwards there is good growth. Users who bought or invested during the starting months of the year have already taken their profits out of the investment. The year is pretty good more things happening positive with the cryptocurrencies. Though there isn't big growth with altcoins it is true that there is growth in all form. This means the progress in terms of adoption and real life usage is happening in large scale which assure growth in price and marketcap.

I don't think that bitcoin is in a bad situation at all like we've seen it in 2018, this year we saw a good potential in bitcoin when the price goes up till 13k$ again, even this current status of bitcoin is normal, I think that the actual price of bitcoin right now is the lowest for this period and we're expecting a huge increase in the next few weeks or months. I bet that bitcoin's situation will be much better in 2020.

Many also bashes and speculations came crazy like the goggle having new technicalities so as to hamper bitcoin processes. Speculations that bitcoin will be gone. However, in terms of market value bitcoin is somehow steady on the 3rd and 4th quarters. Despite of everything, bitcoin still exist and will continue to exist.

I feel its quite not appropriate to expect too much from bitcoin at the moment, in the first place, we could see the market is too volatile and we couldn't blame the market price because we are the one that influence its change and rate. We have the chance and power to trade, buy and sell bitcoin, and it is upon us to think of possible ways we could help bitcoin for adoption.

If we think bitcoin is undervalued, then we should consider buying bitcoin and hodling it rather than just try to earn bitcoin without really contributing to the market price of it.

bitcoin is now starting to appear in tv ads, football club jerseys, and even trains, even though the government is still half-hearted, but the wave of adoption from the millennium continues to move nonstop. As long as there is no role for special security from the government, the level of crypto crime will continue to vary. But whatever it is, in general many users are still comfortable with their assets without seeing anything negative.

if we believe in this technology then don't worry about the current decline in the price of bitcoin, bitcoin still has a great opportunity to be able to increase its value in the future, sometimes the current market price decline is the only way for bitcoin to become more valuable in the future, because many people say a big fluctuation will occur when the market price reaches the lowest point first

This year bitcoin has become open to the world.
Can you give some examples as to how?

Quote
There are countries legalizing it this year.
I have been following the news and no such news came in front of the table. There would have been a huge pump in the market if that would happen. Care to share some light into this?

Quote
Many also bashes and speculations came crazy like the goggle having new technicalities so as to hamper bitcoin processes.
Those are some FUD statements which had been debunked long time back. Just that people like to repeat things over and over again.

Quote
Speculations that bitcoin will be gone.
Funny thing is that the same people disappear when bitcoin price rises and become "dead" and comes back to "life" when prices drop again. Much like zombies. :D

Quote
However, in terms of market value bitcoin is somehow steady on the 3rd and 4th quarters.
Steady is good but traders dont like a sideways trading or a steady market. They want movement and lack of movement makes them desperate for more risky trades.

Quote
Despite of everything, bitcoin still exist and will continue to exist.
Of course it will. It is decentralized and censorship resistant.

I have seen communities rising up against the banning of bitcoins , people actually are now more informed and they are getting the hang of it , bitcoins is very important now and even government is realizing that , it's creating jobs for people and aiding the government , it's not against them , it's with them and I think the biggest achievement is getting really accepted by the governments all around the world .
It's getting legal and attaining more heights than ever , hopefully the price will shoot up soon.

Yes you are right now the price of bitcoin is stable and I think as compare the current price of bitcoin to the last year is very good because in the previous year the price of bitcoin was very low but now its price is very high and to see the current situation of bitcoin I think the future of bitcoin will be very good that's why it is the time to buy bitcoin.

the comparison between current bitcoin and last year can indeed be said that the current status is quite good because this year there are some people who get it from price movements. and for the future, let's look together with the growth of bitcoin, I hope that bitcoin can provide a lot of help to people in the world

I don't think that bitcoin price is stable because bitcoin had already decreased it's price below $7000. Good thing that bitcoin is starting to have an improvement to it's price today because a lot of people are saying that bitcoin halving is starting, so i hope that bitcoin will increased it's price again just like last year of 2017.

Crypto doesn't need the acceptance of any power or any government that is why it is so great. It is above these things. Crypto is not against the government but it sure isn't for it. We don't need the goverment to use and appreciate crypto. Why do you feel we need government acceptance? Cr3ypto is free from all governments and no one will ever control it. That is its beauty. I want the government to have nothing to do with crypto. Let them play with their monopoly money (fiat).

Bitcoin price is not stable. However, there is a very bad performance. Bitcoin cannot be interpreted solely by its price. Bitcoin symbolizes the emergence of a new philosophy. Centralized and working with many intermediaries will change your trade.

Bitcoin price began to jam. The price of $ 7000 was both a resistance and support. I think the price is stable. It gives the opportunity to prove themselves for the new subcoins. Bitcoin price may go up again after halving.
Well, it hopes to be like that but nothing to have assurance in a volatile market. In fact, we think that 2019 is a bullish year for crypto after a tragic dump last 2018 but it wasn't like that and some of us get hopeless.

For me, I'd never expected to see another bullish year cause I know that it can't be easy and it needs strong support which is something missing in the line nowaday. It might be great if we are able to reach back to $15k next year after halving is done.

bitcoin status is now the most popular and most expensive coin in cryptocurrency. and currently bitcoin has dominated the crypto market by 68%. and now more and more companies and countries are willing to accept bitcoin as a means of payment. developing countries and third countries have also begun to legalize bitcoin. from here we can see bitcoin has grown rapidly. and a statement saying that the bitcoin ponzi scheme is also undisputed. bitcoin has proven that bitcoin is not a ponzi scheme. and I am sure in the future the price of bitcoin will be more expensive.

Hey
I have seen communities rising up against the banning of bitcoins , people actually are now more informed and they are getting the hang of it , bitcoins is very important now and even government is realizing that , it's creating jobs for people and aiding the government , it's not against them , it's with them and I think the biggest achievement is getting really accepted by the governments all around the world .
It's getting legal and attaining more heights than ever , hopefully the price will shoot up soon.
Actually there is always a antagonist in every issue. We have to admit that there are people or country that against this revolution. They banned bitcoin because they think that it might be a spy. However, because of the continuous development of cryptocurrency in any part of the world. Many countries want to join. Bitcoin banning will be stopped once it will be regulated by any government all aroud the world. And if bitcoin users will be safe when they buy bitcoin, more countries will adapt such this changes.

Most expensive because bitcoin have been old than other coin but if there are have new coin maybe never possible to get bitcoin keep with higher price, but when looking with investor are interested with Libra coin I worried will libra coin become competitor for bitcoin and have price above bitcoin or not.

I think Libra will not be able to compete with Bitcoin, Libra will be a stablecoin and its price will not fluctuate, will be like USDT. So you don't need to worry about Bitcoin in the future. Also we have to hope that the American and European governments will accept Libra because there is so much bad news that it has delayed launch.

As of now, I see a slow development of the value of bitcoin, I hope it will continue to increase its price and not all of us will make panic selling again because of slowly dropping of the value but as of the moment there is an improvement of the price of the bitcoin.

Lets hope it gets stable at some price. there is too much volatility in price of bitcoin and if it keeps on moving like that it my benefit day traders but not the long term investors. this price volatility is also not good for mainstream adoption of bitcoin.

I cannot be stable when everyone else is losing. Fiat currencies all intentionally lose value, in various degrees, because thats what the school of Chicago dictates and all the politicians follow it like dogma. Sometimes even here you see people who can't grasp the concept of deflationary money or how an economy could work with it, because they have yet to read the Austrians (https://www.mises.org).

Overtime price fluctuations are shrinking, and this is probably how it will be. Gold price fluctuates, but much less than in the past. It should still go up, very slowly, because of the aforementioned inflation all fiats (and some altcoins) with limitless production do.

Remember that, the less it fluctuates, the safer. But when it does fluctuate, all you have to do is wait it out. Unless you are a trader and not a holder, but that is another matter.

After that spike in 2017, price movement has slowed down much. That is good. If it moves too quickly correction will occur. Zoom out and you can recognize its historical pattern, which is a logarithmic curve that starts gaining value very rapidly but slows down overtime.

In short: Slow is good. Panic *anything* is bad. If it goes down just wait it out until it recovers, no matter how long. You have a deflationary coin here, its not government backed money that may never recover...

Bitcoin is not a scam and it can never be, just that a lot of people misunderstood the concept. I have seen a lot of people call Bitcoin a scam and I once saw a post on Vox.com saying that Bitcoin is another Ponzi scheme.

I won’t really blame them, there are lots of people who are only interested in using Bitcoin for the wrong purpose, especially the rich people. Their greediness wouldn’t let them see the main purpose why Bitcoin was created, they just see it as another means to add extra bucks to what they have and nothing else. For that all they do is pump and dump and that makes the world to see Bitcoin as a Ponzi scheme. But anyway, I believe that we will soon grow bigger than we currently are. It’s only going to take time, and that time is coming.

Personally, am well pleased on the achievement of Bitcoin during the last few years and now. Although, many changes have been made to the growth of Bitcoin, its adoption was a major boost to the community last year 2019, also, many online businesses have adopted and integrated their payment method to Bitcoin network.

Here in my country, we have strongly embraced the technology, the young have choose to broadening their knowledge about the technology and about Bitcoin itself. Bitcoin has already made some good move from where we know it to be before now.

I'm very glad that the Bitcoin is still growing and there are many users adapting to its capabilities on the market. There are many people call bitcoin as a scam asset and waste of time but now it's proven that we can really earn a profit on Bitcoin.

As the year passed by, we can see the growth of the bitcoin community and more positive feedbacks are being stated. So I'm lucky that I trusted Bitcoin and learned it early, because of it I gain profit for my financial problems.

As of now the current status seems pretty well and we are in the way of reaching the 10,000$ which most of the predictions that after hitting this price we might seen a new bull market. Even we can see clear improvement on status of bitcoin there's still few chances that it will fall down again. But, I don't want to happen it that's why I remain on believing on bitcoin.

We are all glad here that the situation of bitcoin are now slowly increasing and I'm so lucky too that I have bitcoin and I still intend to buy more because I know this cryptocurrency will bring more profits to me.

~snip~

I think that 2019 opened the doors to the adoption of Bitcoin, since the Blockchain fever began, starting with China, causing confrontations between Stablecoins to occur in 2020, the benefit of this is that bitcoin will have more adoption. Nor can we leave behind the fact that now Ransomware attacks and robberies, computer security is increasing in people and companies, and adoption is taking place, later fashion will be the one with the best security.

The halving of Bitcoin will undoubtedly be one of the most anticipated events, many speak of new highs, others that will remain, everything is a matter of waiting, but thanks to this it motivates investors to continue buying Bitcoin.
