Title: How Do I Delete Comments In Self-Moderated Threads?
Post by: Decracy on December 17, 2019, 11:03:57 PM
Hello BitcoinTalk,

The question is how to delete a comment on a self-moderated thread. No options are shown in my self-moderated thread for this.

Our team is experiencing issues of baseless comments being made on publications that detail our upcoming deployment of an un-released global ecosystem.

Going to the user's profile and clicking 'delete' does not function. After researching this, this was an intentional environment created by Theymos.

Thank you.

Well, if you are the creator of the thread, there should be a Delete button straight on every post (right next to the Quote button). Keep in mind that you need to manually set the thread to self-moderated when creating it. If it is not self moderated, you need to create one and set it so.

None of topics you started is self-moderated.
Going to the user's profile and clicking 'delete' does not function.
I assume you are referring to this user: Increcy (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2719523)
you can not delete his posts directly, however, you can report them and mods will take care of it.

Apparently, your thread really isn’t self-moderated.

If you are too worried about this, lock your current thread, move it to archival and create a new one - this time self-moderated (pay attention to the checkboxes near the submit button).

Hello Last of the V8s,

This is such a nice and wholesome comment.

Thank you to you and all the other members, TryNinja, and khaled0111, who are giving their attention to assist.

Regarding the topic, when it was created I made sure to click 'Self-moderated', are either of you aware if BitcoinTalk has a special user-rule that only allows for users who hold certain rank or merit to make use of the 'self-moderated' function?

Thank you.

I don’t think so. I recall Newbies (or at least Jr’s?) creating these type of threads. Try again. When you’re in a self-moderated thread, you can see a warning for this on the top of the thread, explaining what it is. If you’re don’t see that, your thread isn’t self-moderated.

If your thread is a self moderated, you will see some lines at the top:
Quote
This is a self-moderated topic. If you do not want to be moderated by the person who started this topic, create a new topic. (X posts by Y users with Z merit deleted.)
If your thread does not show it, it means yours is non-self-moderated one.

Self-moderation must be identified when you initially create your threads, you can modify and add that option after creating your threads.

Maybe you created your thread as a self-moderated, but if you move it to boards that do not allow self-moderated threads; yours will become non-self-moderated one. Nevertheless, I don't see it is your situation.

There is no such rule, anyone is allowed to create a self-moderated thread as long as the board allows it, it was possibly a slight oversight from your end. As suggested that you can lock and archive that topic and create a new one paying extra attention to it.
