Title: Any place for Lost/Missing collectables? <issue solved>
Post by: TheBeardedBaby on December 18, 2019, 01:53:16 PM
Unfortunately my first experience as a collector was quite negative. My first Cas physical coin never arrived...I was so happy when I order it. Yes, I used trusted escrow, the seller was a trusted member, I had a tracking number and I had no issues with them at all, everything was fine with until the package entered my country. Then just vanished.
It's been more than 2 soon maybe 3 months so I lost hope that I would ever get the coin. What I can do is to start searching around if someone found and it's trying to sell it. Probably it won't help to get it back but at least to settle my consciousness that I'm doing something on the case.
Is there anything else I could do?

Thanks to MJ and Krogo.

Don’t loose hope, here is an example of some of the example of incompetence of customs of various countries. If u see tracking - LH069909467US

This was originally mailed on June 28th reached customs in Italy on about 1st week of July and was sitting there for about 5 months.

Not sure which country you are in but I have recently started seeing that a lot in Germany, the packages are held in customs and never get delivered.

So sorry to hear anyone going thru this. I do hope all get what they paid for.

Anytime a certain item goes over x value...I prefer to pick up in person.

These stories keep me up at night and also remind me that an in person exchange is the safest way to go.

It's pretty sad to hear when a collectible doesn't reach the destination. And at the same time, I am little afraid as well while shipping some expensive items. Until the package reaches my destination, it would be a kind of nightmare for me and the same would be for  anyone who is experiencing a situation like me. My experience as a collector (less than 10 trades) was good to be honest but nowadays I am kind of afraid to buy little expensive items from far off countries. I am very much sure my country is bad in handling international goods, it can go wrong anytime and well that's one major problem associated with shipping items to my country.

All I can suggest you is to wait for the package to arrive for a little more time as I had a silver bitcoin collectible item stuck in customs for over 1 month when it was shipped from USA. Another negative aspect is that my country imposes around 50% of customs duty which is damn high. If they don't return up for a month, start enquiring about the package in nearest post office? I think it might be of some help, but not really sure about this!  :(

To prevent such bizarre nightmares and problematic situations in future, you could try to follow 2 things in your future buys.

1. Shifting most of your future buys to a fellow country collector. Shipping within the same territory is always much safer as you don't need to undergo any customs charges and other problematic stuffs. If you are worried you can travel to the destination and get that hand-delivered.

2. If you don't have a fellow country physical bitcoin collector, talk to any of your friend who is living in USA or the country where the collectible is located. Ask them to receive it on behalf of you and you can very well get that from him when you guys have a friendly meet-up.

P.S I have already followed both the above mentioned ideas and now my coins is in the home safely!  8)

Thanks guys,

I still have a little hope that it will come one day. Hope to be delayed because of the Christmas and maybe Customs. Most of the other things I buy from china come without problem, some delays but in general 30-40 days delay is normal.
The Norwegian post services are not the best for sure..

Something to think about for any future purchases...instead of using regular post...have you considered FEDEX or UPS overnight?

I have used fedex overnight anytime I wanted to have an item arrive safe and secure. Never had any negative experience. Its costlier but I think its worth it.

I can only speak from my experience.

I don't know how the Universe and all the magic forces are working, but I somehow got the package almost a year later.
So this thread is not relevant anymore.

Just a tip to anyone missing a package, never give up hope. Great Early Christmas "Gift", Thanks Santa Postman :D

Stay safe ppl.
Locking this one.
