Do you guys have experience of these blockchain courses?

MIT and Oxford (cost tons) offered one but I am not sure which one is better. Or the ones on edX are much cheaper.

There's lot of free ways to learn more about blockchain, however, we need to know what you're aiming to learn.

Are you trying to learn about how cryptocurrencies work in general?
How blockchains are being used?
How to code within a blockchain?

Etc


We need to know the area you are looking to explore.

I think I'm always receiving that email from edX. I reckon Tim that there's so much free learnings on the web about blockchain but with these courses, you have a pattern of what to learn.

IMO what matters is your choice, there can be a course that cost hundreds of dollars but you'll absorb nothing because you're not focused. As long as the website you're getting the course is legitimate, you already have the idea of the syllabus they have. AFAIK, they are showing the lessons that you shall learn within that course.

You can also check Udemy there are courses available on Blockchain that you can purchase at a reasonable price.

It also depends on what kind of courses in Blockchain you are looking for as advanced level are not available there.

I'd prefer edX. I've learned so many things from there and the courses are high quality but if you have the money taking courses from either MIT or oxford won't do wrong and more preferable to be honest. It's just depend on what yo need and how much money you want to spend to learn blockchain.

Isn't it really necessary to spend money to take these courses?

I mean we are already in an era where information can be found already on the web.

Unless we have a goal of becoming a bitcoin technical person in the future, I think paying for just basic information about how blockchain works or any related things shouldn't be necessary.

By the way, not familiar with those blockchain course providers mentioned by the OP and I'm curious now what are they. Bookmarking this topic for other feedbacks.

If you buy course, believe me they will be teach you to learn about how to build smart contract through Ethereum  nothing else.

So my suggestion, you dont buy a course for a while, just waiting for more services who have more than learn smart contract.

I wish I had taken a program in IT, today I would have been better off in blockchain world. What I need to do now is get myself together and take up a course in blockchain. It will be bad that all I know is buy and sell and run some marketing. I need to be involved in the process, counting my cost.

It depends on which field you want to explore in this market. If you just want to learn about bitcoin and cryptocurrencies you can find out right here on this forum. At this point we can search everything on the internet and not necessarily take any courses.

There have many courses for blockchain, If you have  minium knowledge about that then you can select online learning site or youtube tutorials. Nevertheless the professional course is more better than virtual traing.

agree with you. a lot of free ways to learn blockchain. many information in internet and i think this forum very complete. you should to explore this forum and will get more information about blockchain. if there is a free ways why should to pay for courses? but its their respective ways

Coursera offers online uni courses, usually for free, from very credible sources.

A quick scan of their blockchain course list (link above) reveals courses from University at Buffal, INSEAD (!!), University of Pennsylvania, University of California - Irvine.

Anyone here taken a course from Coursera that can add comment on the experience?

MIT seem to be one of the most reputable institute for technology which I guess makes it more credible for teaching technological advantages of blockchain.


Coursera is new to the online video tutorials but there lots of students there. Its udemy that were the first I learned some video tutorials. But I just saw there were 44k students taking this course https://www.coursera.org/specializations/blockchain

coursera is not new, it is a very well reputed site and they used to give certificate which is recognized by several top-class universities. In some of the courses, they offer free tutorial without any certificate or certificate with fees.

I never joined since there are no blockchain courses in my country. I think it is still optional for now, we still can learn about blockchain, crypto, or Bitcoin from various sources. However, if you really want to join the blockchain course, it is surely a good idea. You may get knowledge and experience from experts directly there. Anyway, can I know what is your main purpose to join it? If you just want to learn about blockchain, crypto, or Bitcoin in general, you are better to learn yourself firstly.

actually you don't need a course to understand the blockchain, just self-taught, you don't need to be too complicated for the course. especially if your brain is weak, it's better to just take an important course.

I don't really have any experience with the blockchain courses provided by these institution but I think you as the person interested in learning blockchain should know that obtaining knowledge is not about the institution offering the knowledge. Its all about how you are willing to go the extra miles to gain the necessary knowledge from any other source of the knowledge.
