Title: Has this year Christmas favor your cryptocurrency portfolios?
Post by: Sebas.tian on December 18, 2019, 10:46:41 PM
I couldn't hold it back any longer; as I have sold off my major portfolio because of Christmas celebration. This hold started from last year July, 2018 and now, couldn't hold them again as I have sell off my assets because of the pressure from the family members. After the sale of this asset this evening, I was perplexed as how much I just dumped, all in the name of Christmas.

What are your experience: positive or negative.

This is what happens with a common person who little by little save for a bigger money out of the same. The reason for which we save and for what it gets used varies. This could have taken place unexpected, because of delay in the pay from office and on several circumstances. When we're running for something we need to have prior plans without which we can't successfully make an earning out of saving bitcoin.

Sold some but I remain intact to my plan of holding most of my bitcoin, Ethereum and other altcoins. Obviously, this Christmas or this year to be more specific became better than last year and earlier this year. I guess you know what I'm saying.
The price for bitcoin went up and so do it does for Ethereum. But in my own acceptance and goal, this ain't enough. I want more which I can peacefully sell to recover the losses I've and continue to hold too.

I have much better safe now since after all this year, I started to minimize my holdings altcoins, slowly I converting them to Bitcoin, I'm a little bit less worried now and enjoy this upcoming holidays for sure without thinking too much on my portfolio.

I am also preparing to get mine done, however, some of my investments are still intact, because I need to prepare for the future. If need be, perhaps if there won't be time for me to keep monitoring and following up the market, I might then save in stable coins. There is no need to sell in panic.

Far from it but I've come to expect market losses accompanying end of the year because as many people liquidate their assets to celebrate the year. Hopefully next year will have better things in store.

Fortunately, all my coin on my portfolio are still safe and intact, there was pressure to sell but I prefer to sell some my gadget than to sell some of my coins, I think many share your experiences because we have seen the market is dipping as the holiday season is fast approaching and there's none to blame as long as you did not sell them at a loss.

So far, it's all been negative in my portfolio (which isn't that large, thank goodness).  It's been much worse in the past few days since bitcoin started dropping, because it seems like it took the whole altcoin market down with it.

I've owned some Neo for most of this year, as an example, and it's held up *relatively* well, not dropping below $9-10 much, but I think it dipped under $8 recently and that's kind of a surprise.  It's one of the better coins out of the ones that I'm currently holding.

Next year should be better, at least I'm hoping that's the case.  It's getting discouraging to be an altcoin hodler, but I'm not losing faith in the market or hope.  And if I had some throwaway cash I'd be buying more Neo and a few other coins too.  Maybe I'll get some in my stocking this X-mas.

Yup, there's no need to panic sell.
There were holders in the past that just chosen that path and now, they're feeling sorry for committing a mistake. We're on the right time and on the right track if you know what you're doing and sees that we're actually doing fine.

Never invest the money that you will be needing in any occasions especially if you are planning to hold for a long term, it will be best if you will just invest little by little using your extra money or your money for savings.

So far, I have no problem right now as I only invest my extra money and I still have the money for the Christmas celebrations. I am planning for a long term hold even if it will take the market to recover in the year 2022 as I am pretty sure that the market will surely recover again.

you shouldn't have had a portfolio that has altcoins in it in first place since their only direction is dumping and at times like this where bitcoin price does some small drops and then jumps back up, the result is always altcoin dumps and more dumps.
the closer we get to Christmas the more people will start cashing out and as the number of traders dwindles it becomes even easier for prices to go down.

That's wrong mate. If youre wise you shouldn't done this. Why? First of all you should have a work that ca n sustain your needs during holiday, if youre an investor here in crypto there is a golden statement that " invest only which you can afford to lose" which means you shouldn't touch it for some holiday get away.  Learn to set aside money from investment and personal expenses.

Your Christmas is still lucky because there are still your crypto assets sold to meet your needs. I was personally stunned, because the assets that I guarded turned out to have fallen sharply, the loss if I sold but Christmas needed funds

It should be before the end of the year you have to sell assets to secure from the impact of excessive crashes. Like those years yesterday where every major celebration of investors certainly sells for their needs and when the crash was reasonable when Christmas celebrations were on start and will rise again in the next year.

I will not say this positive or negative. if it's about family, then do the best for the family, even if you have to sell your assets in crypto now. I personally have sold a lot of my crypto assets to my family. The latest is waves. I sell at waves prices at 0.000077btc, and today the price is very great. but i don't regret it. don't say negative because there's more to it than just holding crypto assets. which is to help the family get better.

You sold it for the sake of christmas so think it not as pessimistic. After all, you will give it to your family and will make them happy. As for me, I am still holding. I just make sure that I have enough amount to spend for Christmas and my coins will still be my investment. It all depends on the situation, your situation seems no choice if you don't have separate budget for christmas.

I am still holding this month and only selling some of my balance for my daily needs. I think we still see this situation because we almost see the end of this month and that means we will go to see the new year soon. If the market does not increase until the end of this year, then you need to wait for more, and you can hope that the situations will be changed after the new year.

If you decide to sell right now, then you should prepare to buy more amount if, in the next few days, the price can down because I think that will be a good time to buy the coin before the price starts to increase.

Christmas is a day that awaited many people, of course there are many celebrations and a very special time to gather with family. Even though the market is bearish, it still forces us to sell assets to meet Christmas needs. But if there is income or other loans, then I prefer that rather than selling our assets, sad.

Actually it is their right to do it their own way and although it is not the right time to use it or sell it, it has become an option because there is no other alternative.
but if they have other income or a real job and have a salary in my opinion they will not sell their assets, and it would be better if you make a sale as needed and not spend it all.

I am not against that you just want to give what makes your family happy but why would they pressure you just because it's Christmas? You should have told them the situation that it's not doing well so you can't give them much of what they are expecting. I'm sure they will understand. Christmas isn't just about giving material things... If you don't have other sources of income aside crypto, they should know that your budget is limited. But if you have a different job, you can use your income there to help you for your Christmas expenses. It's fine to sell some for special holidays but selling most of it because of family pressure, you will just end up thinking about it again and again.

Yes, since all crypto currency is affected with the sudden drop. All hodlers are not happy to see their portfolio for this time. We expected that this month the crypto prices will go up a little but our expectation is very far from what is happening right now.

I have the same experience. I have sold some of my holdings so I would have something to spend this Christmas season. I want to give my family a good celebration but I have no choice but to sell at a low price. We all know that it isn't profitable to sell now especially if we're talking about long term holding. I'm still holding some right now and hoping that the coming year would bring a great beginning for most holders.

Mass sales are inevitable during religious holidays, this is due to the need for additional funds that must be prepared to welcome Christmas and the new year.
I've also experienced things like this, because of financial demands ahead of the religious holiday, I was forced to sell a few coins in my portfolio.

I bought some altcoin since the end of 2018. And in mid-2019 I sold it all and put it into bitcoin. For Chrismas I am not so worried about the bitcoin that I have. It's okay if the price goes down. To be sure, I'm waiting for the moment that bitcoin will rise in 2020-2021. For now I don't think too much about falling prices. Better to relax and drink coffee on my favorite bench. Everything will change.

Look at every cryptocurrency these days. Is there any crypto that doesn't fall by this year-end? I don't think so. All cryptos are dumping hard this December. How can anyone's portfolio be positive lol.

Are you selling at a loss or profit? I mean this point is close to the opening price of the year. I think one of the worst time to sell given that we're coming close to Bitcoin halving, which looking at past halving is a good fuel for another crypto massive bull run.

You know whats best for you, if you sell already after more than a year of waiting then its your decision. However its just sad that you didnt wait until the market shows improvement.

Many of us are tempted to sell due to holiday season, we know during this time we are badly in need of money for family gatherings and gifts but its best to have a savings meant for this so that we dont need to sell our assets.

In my case this year is not that bad since I had the chance to sell my bitcoin mid of this year after the price turns up. But for my alts, well the prices are still in downtrend so I have to wait until alts bull run occur.

You might not work so you have to sell your assets in crypto, just as I am unemployed and only work on the internet I get bitcoin, but I don't sell any of my assets, usually I separate investment funds for long-term assets in the portfolio and also funds for the term short for daily use, I do not celebrate Christmas, but if it is for your family it is a great decision, do not blame you, my assets in portofoilo there are some that go up namely TOMOchain so I can still sell my profits a little

If you plan ahead then there's no need to rush things out, it's sad to see letting go of your assets that you hold for almost a year. If there's no other way then you just need to let it go and forget about the market for a while. You'll be full of  regrets and disappoinment if the value rise high. After selling better to focus to other things and leave the industry be back when you are ready again to jump in.

What matter most is that did you sold your portfolio with profits? I believed you bought them at a very reasonable price which dated July 2018 at that period cryptos markets is not bad as it is now. I think you had made a good decision by succumbing to pressure by your family, your family comes first as Christmas approaches there are lots of gifts and hampers to be given out.

If before Christmas, the price for all coins can increase so high, I will sell some amount of my coins because I want to get the money for celebrating the new year. But if the price is not increasing too high, maybe I will still hold it until the price increase because I don't want to sell when the price does not increase. We need to wait for a while because the market seems to grow. Although the price is up and down this month, maybe there will be a time to see the pump will coming soon.

indeed, in July 2018, crypto was still showing its performance so that it did not make people disappointed at that time, but until now the performance was declining, even at Christmas last year many people began to get nervous because their assets began to decline until Christmas this year the price has not moved up . more patience is needed for that

Before Christmas, big sales, this year cryptocurrencies have to be sold at a low price, and I think most try to keep their assets until next year, it’s not necessary to buy expensive gifts for Christmas, you can create a festive mood in a different way.

I always put money that I can set aside for investment, I will not use it for any purpose.
On the other hand I have set aside some for daily needs, so when the price conditions like now I do not panic to sell it.
Your decision is positive if it is for daily needs for your family.

I always put money that I can set aside for investment, I will not use it for any purpose.
On the other hand I have set aside some for daily needs, so when the price conditions like now I do not panic to sell it.
Your decision is positive if it is for daily needs for your family.

if he sells it for reasons of family needs then I think it is positive, although certainly when selling at a price that is not appropriate then the loss but in this case he uses it for needs. and of course this can be used as a lesson because we will certainly have urgent needs, and we must really manage finances well

Many people are still in the same situation as you, they have been holding altcoins since 2018 and so far they have succumbed to losses and sold them all. I think you lost at least 10 times and I hope you won't cry and regret it in the future when you sell them all.

when many people sell like him, of course, it is a choice based on fear and panic about market conditions. whereas in my opinion, the situation like now is better than in 2018.
those who give up are those who dream of getting quick and short-term profits. and they are trapped in the market when the market is in decline.

I played good with my crypto this year. And this month is when I made the largest profit. I had converted half of my crypto holdings to stablecoin a few months ago and I was lucky enough to buy much more coin on the last dip. Though there might be much larger dip in coming weeks, I'm not going to sell them until the prices gets a bit higher.

Judging from the movement of the market it seems people are selling of some of their Bitcoin, it's a blessing for those waiting for Bitcoin to go down, it even went down to $6700 but now recovering with 11 days to go I'm not hoping for $8000 I will just contend on what Bitcoin price will be and just pin my hope in 2020 where so many great things are going to happen.

It is just sad to let them go knowig that future market might be as good as what we expect it to be. But it is okay because you have certainly a big purpose of dumping it rather than wasting it. Either way, you can earn it back. May be with a greater amount man. By the way I have the same experience, I am not used to spending specially when I really don't need but because of Christmas season as well, I have to take even a bit in my portfolio, like the same situation as yours but not because of family's pressure but I have to packed myself with money because of side by side getaway.

If you need to sell something because you need to that's fine. You are even lucky to have something to sell unlike the rest who are just own tokens that they can't even sell because its not in any market. Their coins are not even in a decentralized exchange, they can't sell and they can't find buyers of it either. That's worse than dumping at loss.

Merry Xmas.

I have some losses too, but in totality still I am in profit and I have saved money more than what I am expecting, and of course I learned a lot from bear market and that is not to take advantage too much with what you are earning, always save money as much as possible and not just wasting my money to every new gadget in the market.

In order for you to keep on holding, you must stand upon the pressure given by your relatives because if you keep on listening and following to sell your assets because of pressure, the long wait you have endure all throughout will become useless and once the assets you have sold get back into having a great price, you will just regret selling them at lower price value. This year, my portfolio is also not favorable for the upcoming holiday season which is Christmas so in order for me to have money to be used this holiday until New year celebration, I have worked too hard into my office work to be able to earn an income apart from those that I can attain from my cryptocurrency holdings so that I can still have my money even I am not selling my assets and keeping them in tacked on holding because I do still believe and trust that time will still come that those assets I have held for a long period of time will all be worth it once the market have rise up once again. So I will just be patiently waiting while working and wait for that time to happen.

There were and are speculations about bitcoin for setting new targets by 2020 and it is highly expected to repeat 2017 when it reached the heights of profits. It is a great decision on your part not to sell bitcoin as it is not easy to grab this coin again and again. If you need to enjoy your profits, try them out with ethereum and keep holding onto bitcoin for massive returns.

Yes, everyone seem to be expecting the same thing like 2017. But it could also go wrong and we might fail our expectations by that year so be it and be prepared for the best and for the worse next year. But I think 2 years of bear market or 1 and a half year of it was already enough to see a reversal and I think everyone deserve to see it.

Your Christmas is still lucky because there are still your crypto assets sold to meet your needs. I was personally stunned, because the assets that I guarded turned out to have fallen sharply, the loss if I sold but Christmas needed funds

You are a true fellow; haven acknowledged that Christmas needed funds to make it fun and one with family must make some reasonable sacrifice to put smile on the faces of others. Although, I was still lucky to have  some good profits after I sold because, I bought at a low price back in 2018. For those with no responsibilities may have different view about my post but still appreciate all that gave advice. Believe me, my Christmas will be NOTICE by all around me.

You shouldn't sell off just for Christmas time. Then you are involved in crypto for the wrong reasons. You should sell when the price is good for you and leave all external factors out of the equation. I won't be selling much. I've sold some since the price was right but not because of its Christmas time.

Firstly, I guess you do what makes sense, because sales will increase and the price will fall due to the coming New Year. When we look at the past years, we can see this easily. But, according to another assumption, crypto is uncertain. Maybe this year, buy orders will surpass sales. However, the second one is a option that can come up in every selection, and it may prevent us from making the right choice every time we consider. So I think the result can be positive.

What OPs did is not a good advice to do during Holiday. It seems like youre relying alone on crypto for youre holiday expenses. That's not a good practice when investing on something like crypto. Set aside youre money for this, and the investment is also not part of youre expenditure for youre celebration. If you dont have job, find one to support youre needs not when you already lose you will be forced to sell due cause you need money.

Christmas is fast approaching and there's so much tension in the society. Several people are struggling to meet up with the demands of family and this is evident in the rate at which expenses are incurred. I personally have been waiting for the prices to turn around, but the market has been unfavourable. Selling my tokens now would be very challenging as I would be selling at a massive loss considering the bearish trend of the market. I only do hope that the market would have a turn around.

need to recalculate if you want to get involved again after Christmas, or management will never end positively, I'm also quite worried because the market can be very severe at this time. If you have an obligation to sell at the end of each year, you must be sure how the assets can grow effectively throughout the year, and allocate a portion of the profits prepared in USDT as your next Christmas savings.

My ultimate reason for selling my eth is because of the holidays and its coming that's why everyone in the christian world was need a money for the celebration. that's why selling some of our altcoin holdings is just normal during this time i think its a reasonable choice.

my experience when at the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, selling all assets because of urgent needs (like you experienced at Christmas), actually regretted having to do all of that but because everything was for the family so I was sincere. but after all that, I can get some more bitcoin even though not much so I feel everything is a positive thing as long as we are sincere.
for the price of bitcoin at that time was in an upward condition, unlike now that is down, you could say I'm not too disadvantaged. so, overall, it was a positive decision.

I understand man, the pressure is always too much. There are times you would want to save your coins for a long time but due to the pressure you're getting and the problems you want to solve with it, you just end up selling your coins. I have had such an experience and it was in 2018, lucky it wasn't in 2017 because I would have missed out a lot.

I wish there was a way to lock up my funds in cryptocurrency and not be able to touch them till the set time. That way no matter the kind of pressure you get there wouldn't be a way to get it out, though you might be disappointed if the price should crash. Unlike last year, I believe my portfolio is in positive as bitcoin was doing below $4000 by this time last year and now we are above $4000 levels which is a simple indication of my portfolio is at positive side.

Yes, panic selling and selling based on emotions is very bad. Christmas is emotional and you want to make people happy ao you buy things and spend time with them. You need money to do these things and so people sell based on emotions they have about Christmas and the gifts they buy. Never dip into your savings or investment. Only dip into investments if its doing well.

I do not think you did right by selling all. Prices are likely to decrease in the new year, but you should also consider the possibility of an increase. Keep some of the funds in your wallet for a possible increase, thus you will not lose more in drop and also benefit from the increase.

So we need to wait for more, and we can hope that everything will change after the next year. Soon, we will see a new year, and I think in the next year, many good moments can help cryptocurrency to increase higher, and we can come back to make a profit.
indeed for Bitcoin the increase is not too high, some days only 1-3% only Bitcoin has increased,
it looks like trading on Altcoin can add to your Christmas gift

I couldn't hold it back any longer; as I have sold off my major portfolio because of Christmas celebration. This hold started from last year July, 2018 and now, couldn't hold them again as I have sell off my assets because of the pressure from the family members. After the sale of this asset this evening, I was perplexed as how much I just dumped, all in the name of Christmas.

What are your experience: positive or negative.

Price of bitcoin in Jul 2019 revolve in between 6500 - 8000$. You have a great chance to sell off this year when price crossed 10,000$. just keeping the coins so long is of no use, if you are getting good profit. I am not selling my coins for this christmas as this is good price to buy not sell.

I do not agree with your that statement which I highlighted in the quote because I am holding from a longer time and the more time passes the more I get the profit from my holdings, only in 2018 the price dropped which gave nothing but holding even in that year gave me a chance to be the part of this year bull market and to be the part of the coming year bull run which will happen because of halving.

when BTC fell since last September without further increases, it was increasingly difficult to return to $ 10,000.

the bitcoin price difference between July 2018 and now is not much different, now it is only slightly higher but does not make a more interesting change. Unfortunately he sold it under pressure. the bitcoin purchase zone will last a long time because it has surpassed deathcross..

By the looks of it you really don't have any choice left but to sell majority of your portfolio because of the family pressure you are having and maybe because you also need to money when you liquidate your crypto assets. You may have lose a good opportunity to take more profits when its time for a bull run but you really don't have any choice but to sell them and that is understandable and you can't really do anything about it. The thing is if you have the money now to join the crypto market you are always welcome by the market to return and just make sure at this point you have some extra cash lying around in your savings for you to use in these types of situation where your family needs some extra cash.

Why are you comparing July 2018 with the present time. The two milestones are so different and can't say anything, You need to compare December 2018 with the present. And we see that the current BTC price is 2 times higher than last year and this is a positive sign for the market after a year of downtrend.

It's your choice mate, I guess you couldn't wait for the next bull run. I wouldn't blame you though, as your main reason is that you need money for Christmas holiday. But I guess majority of us here thinks it's better to HODL and let this worsening condition pass by.

I am not selling anything for this Christmas. I have few savings in fiat that I will use this Christmas. If you are holding cryptocurrency for long term then this is not the right to get profit from your crypto investment.
Best gift you can give to yourself is buy crypto at current dip price.

I think selling off wouldn't be the best for me, this is because I am very sure you sold off at a greater percentage of loss. Well for me, each time I get any token I sell off to bitcoin, so bitcoin is my major holding and as such I don't really panic.

You shouldn't sell off just for Christmas time. Then you are involved in crypto for the wrong reasons. You should sell when the price is good for you and leave all external factors out of the equation. I won't be selling much. I've sold some since the price was right but not because of its Christmas time.

Remember that: we are talking about family here and not just for self alone. At the moment that's what I had to sustain the family because some individuals are owning me and effort to get the money back prove aborted, so, fall back to cryptocurrency was the last option.
These coins were bought July 2018 and where not appreciating, so, I decided to sell some portfolios to get the pressing needs out of the way. Believe me, many will take the same action I took but because it happened to they criticized my actions.

Do we have another choice? Maybe we don't have and somewhat we are sacrificing some for the sake that we can help our family. Not a usual thing to happen but it could be, and I will be one of those. But I'd never have had regrets cause it to have its purpose and we helping someone important to us.
Though it looks embarrassing but somehow we think that it be gonna be happen and losing is a part of the investment journey.

A few projects I invested in turn out well including the bold step I took buying btc $6900. It's been great so far.

I am buying now, buying EUREKA COIN because when they buyback and burn tons of it over the next few years, I will own a  nice stack then every day will be Xmas for me, not just once a year. I am having a frugal Xmas this year because I want to make back what I lost in the last bear market, so not going to be doing any frivolous shopping in the name of Xmas then be left holding empty bags. I will fill up my bags this holiday season with good coins so that next Xmas I can celebrate and enjoy with all my family if I am alive and in good health. It's silly to dump at low prices, just because a ton of others are doing it. I prefer to sell at each Ath and buy back on the lows to grow bigger bags and also take profits as well. I am a little wiser than last time and they often say do the opposite of what the herd is doing, so I am buying up all the cheap coins and selling on the highs, rebuying the lows, don't care what season it is or what holiday.

I think if you sell assets in the form of bitcoin at cheap prices like now it will make you regret because usually when halving day, the price of bitcoin can potentially be very expensive, so more you can take advantage of cheap moments to buy as much bitcoin as you can and sell it when it's already back to expensive prices.

You don't have to dump your investment because you have to put  your budget for your Christmas Expenses. We need to celebrate and share some gifts but it doesn't mean that you need to liquidate your asset as your budget. Make sense, think like a businessman. You can share your blessings even it is not a Christmas day so I think you made a wrong decision.

then so that this does not happen again next year you should set aside some money every month for funds to celebrate Christmas. so you don't need to sell bitcoin to celebrate Christmas.

@barabarian1 I hope you sold your coins because you were getting profits too, but if you sold them at a loss then it’s a bad decision. In my case I’m holding lots of money in bitcoins and I did sell a small amount because I wanted to gift someone a Christmas gift, but overall I didn’t completely liquidate my portfolio like you did. Hence my overall experience was positive because I was able to make someone happy, and the fact that I didn’t sell my coins at a loss was a bonus for me.

This really impacts allot of us, from giving gifts, receiving gifts as well, christmas bonuses, christmas sales and more other aspect of finance that could change the way how we spend our money in a short time yearly season. But when it comes to cryptocurrency, I don't think we should consider selling our hodlings just for the sake of giving gifts and pressure. We should have extra money (fiats to consider) for us to have something to give to others. But when we don't have, we don't need to urge and sacrifice funds that are alloted for our needs.

Before Christmas or the end of the year should you throw the coin that you hold because most will crash because many holders and investors sell it at Christmas because of the need and it has become a habit of the previous years. So I was not confused if the pair that I sold yesterday was quite high than when Christmas arrived or the new year.

And it is quite really hard for some cases that people would come into your house in Christmas and you have nothing to offer them so you are urged to use and convert your cryptocurrencies to gifts and foods. Though, the main advantage of this is that, in this kind of season, the price of cryptocurrency often increases so you can convert the profits you have and still hodl your cryptocurrencies in your own wallet. But make sure you've still have enough because over spending your cryptocurrency is hard especially if you are a trader and wants to regain your profits.

if the necessity of life is urgent we cannot hold a coin we must sell it to be able to make ends meet. the important thing is you already get a profit when you decide to sell. if you sell but don't make a profit then in my opinion it is the wrong decision. You should look for valuable items that you can sell to celebrate Christmas. Don't sell crypto when you don't make a profit. therefore I always suggest having a real job besides crypto whose salary we can use to make ends meet.

That is great, and I hope you can wait for a while until the bitcoin price can increase so you can make a big profit from bitcoin. When you can see the bitcoin price increase like today, you can sell some amount, but you can also hold it for more because, in the next year, we will see a halving time for bitcoin. Many people are predicting that in the next year, bitcoin prices will increase so high, and if it's not happening after the bitcoin halving, the price will start to grow in the middle of the next year.

In 2013 and 2017, the ATH was reached in mid-December and the dumping started by the third week. By the time of X'mas, the exchange rates were down at least 20-30% from the ATH levels. Now I am not sure whether this pattern will repeat this time or not, but there is a strong chance as a lot of the users will be selling their coins to fund their year-end vacations.

There is a common notion in the crypto space, that the most common thing is the cash out phenomenon. Where so many people try to sell all that they have, in order to have the money they can spend for the Yuletide season, but that is not the case with everyone or every project, because some might be waiting for a big or bigger event early next year.

This year is a difficult year for many cryptocurrency investors, especially Hodlers. With a drastic reduction in prices, psychological influence on investors, who initially believed that crypto would be an alternative investment turned out to decrease the portfolio value.

My portfolio right now is not so much, but it did gain some compared to last year which is super disastrous. I had invested my time since the start of this year where Bitcoin is still at $3,500, since then I've gain some profit by buying and snowballing over the time. Good thing Bitcoin pump $7,500 the other day this month.

You should have foreseen this before it happens, Christmas and New Year sales are very tempting to resists I'm just lucky to have a small saving for these occasions, plus weekly payout through Bitcoin and so I can buy things on these sales and at the same time keep all my coins in my portfolio safe and intact.

until now I still hold my bitcoin. I am sure and believe bitcoin will pump again and I will be patient waiting. I will not sell my bitcoin when prices go down like now. I think actually you also don't want to sell your coins but because of the urgency of your end needs you sell them. next year you should manage your finances well so that when Christmas comes you don't sell coins for Christmas.

Even though I did not withdraw the cryptocurrency assets, I still got a loss and threw away in vain because I traded and the price of the altcoin that I hold went down very far until now.

Believe me, my Christmas will be NOTICE by all around me.

yes my hope this time Christmas the price of crypto can rise again so that it has more funds to celebrate Christmas and the end of the year

It is better to invest using idle funds so that if we have a plan for long-term investment, it will not disrupt our financial flows. Crypto prices always fluctuate and we cannot predict when prices will rise or when they will fall, but if we use idle money, we will be calmer even though the market is not good.

That's a rather silly idea just to dump them just for that reason because you'll probably find the market won't stay stagnant for too long as we pass this festive season so make sure you don't sell too cheaply if you don't have to as you may find some benefits later if so

I made few $$ from a long waited bounty reward that started trading, i used the $$ to buy bitcoin straight up and keep in waiting for 2020, i expect btc halving to affect the price drastically

I also sold many coins from my portfolio as its now hard to hold because I have to meet out my expenditures. This year I was expecting some good move but in the end, all my hopes are gone but I am disappointed that I could not hold.

Just passive. I don't know literally why but I haven't anything much to do, just doing the same thing even when Christmas season has come. May be because I am not a typical person who got a lot of stuff out there. Well, I just feel pressure when I have a thing much needed to buy, that I always got dilemma between is it I need to sell or just keep my coins and don't buy that much needed stuff.

Certainly, there are many coin holders who have gone through similar situations like yours. But, the crypto market is correcting itself on the occasion of Christmas with bitcoin increasing in price. So, I want to request coin holders not to clear off their holdings just for festivals like Christmas. They can sell a portion of them to manage money for Christmas.

I think this was debunked last year, there is no Christmas increase. In fact, if you really want to correlate, Christmas is when people are spending money, not investing in it. So they would be liquidating bitcoin and crypto for fiat, not buying more BTC with fiat! There is no seasonal period in crypto I'm sure. Not everyone who has Bitcoin thinks of Christmas as a big deal anyway.

well you are too pushy if you do not have money for your needs you might be able to take out a loan, especially if you sell in large quantities, I also know July 2018 the market is still in bad condition I do not know the exact date when you buy.
I still hold a few coins that are still losing, I will not sell it now because the value is still down.

Comparing with Christmas in 2017, crypto holders will have much cheaper Christmas, right?  :D
But the real crypto believers will buy a big amount of cryptocurrencies for cheap and they will have a nice present for Christmas .  8)

Many of the little known altcoins have gone down by more than 90% so far in 2019. I was a bit luckier, as I sold most of my coins in 2018, by converting them to either ETH or BTC. Had I held on to them, then I would have incurred very heavy losses. I strongly suspect that we are witnessing a phase of market consolidation. Useless alts are getting nuked and their market caps are getting concentrated on a select bunch of established coins.

We must distinguish money to be used in investing in cryptocurrency and also the money we use for our daily needs so as not to interfere with our financial situation because sometimes we invest into cryptocurrency without thinking about our current financial condition and will easily put money or invest money into cryptocurrency without thinking about it.

In terms of market value there is no big difference from present market to 2018 crypto market, the only difference is bitcoin value, many altcoins keeps losing value even the good ones, this year is not encouraging for altcoin fans like myself, all i have to keep doing is waiting for changes

If you are not yet invested in the market of the altcoins then this is a great opportunity for you to invest because the prices are so cheap and it is a one time big time opportunity in our entire life. You should invest a small portion of your cash and hold them long term and you will see the beauty of cryptocurrency investments.

investing in altcoin is indeed quite difficult but if we have free funds then just try investing with small funds. the most important thing is we can understand the price circulation and also ways to invest in altcoin, maybe it can be profitable if investing in altcoin that has a good volume.

First of all, you should not trade at the wrong time and after that, before spending your money on a coin you must make research and invest in good coin only just like bitcoin so there will be no loss. Buy some bitcoin as it's Christmas and price is good to buy later on the price will increase so spend your money and buy some Bitcoin to hold or trade for the long term.

Christmas has come and gone, the goodies that came with it will still stay with men. Although, on my part as posted has been tough and rough. Hoping for a better 2020 where investors like me will smile and laugh away their shame. Will officially applause those who encouraged me and those who chip into me wisdom from cryptocurrency. Will officially lock this thread, have a wonderful New Year to all.
