Title: [RESOLVED 21 AUG] Scammed and refunded by seller YOYA (Hero member) for $65
Post by: sandy-is-fine on December 19, 2019, 03:48:52 AM

It's been about 8 months and the original seller contacted me yesterday and sent me a refund of the amount in question in this thread.  He sent the refund without any demands or requests to remove this complaint.  After doing a lot of checking with various sources I have to take his explanation as being legitimate.  Unfortunately the only way he will be able to remove the 2 flags on his account would be by contacting all of those who have supported it.  Being it has been about 8 months that would be difficult.  So consider this update a commutation of his sentence ....

"Today" became tomorrow here but gave him some extra time as a courtesy and due to possible time differences. Never heard from the guy again and his last login was 18:32 yesterday 12/17/19.    All above are in PM's and other messages are in self-moderated thread listed above.  ARCHIVE listed above in case messages are deleted.  All PM's available but it was easier just to list what went on.

If by some chance the seller reappears and refunds my money I obviously will update this thread.

"TYPE 1"  FLAG added:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;flag=1094

Will be posting a "type 3 flag" tomorrow just to give him the courtesy of a bit more time.

Edit:  12/20/19 Please support this "type 3" flag:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;flag=1095

I hope the scammer is really using the $65 for a good cause. To throw away his hero account reputation just like that is a joke  ;D

I thought only new accounts are scamming but now I see that I should use escrow no matter on profile rank
Wow... I'm suprised

This is very unlikely a hero member with some positive feedback has scammed $65 worth of BTC. I guess he is in trouble & will be back and refund you if he can't give you the gift card as promised. Moreover, his way of conversation wasn't like a scammer.
I will support the flag after some more hours.

Why did you put the word " Hero Member " in the title?

You did not notice the following:

look at the post interval he has, you will realize that this hero account was a little active account (I can risk saying it was a disposable account)

This is very unlikely a hero member with some positive feedback...

are very old feedbacks

See first post in this thread for an update as of 21 AUG 2020

@Slow Death .... yea.  I noticed that even before I purchased but figured I'd take a shot .... after being scammed I looked it over more carefully and figured it was likely a hacked or bought account.  Win some, lose some I guess. Usually I carefully examine previous posts but this time I got sucked in because spouse wanted new Airpods  for birthday yesterday and figured I could save a couple bucks.  LOL!  From now on I will check even "trusted" members more carefully.  I could have saved 20% (15% LESS than from this scum) from Podgor who I usually buy from but I became greedy.

Bottom line ^^^^^^   :)

Lesson learned.

Hopefully, Yea.  But it's been a few days so I doubt it. If he does he'll probably come back and tell me his dog had to have open heart surgery and he fell on the ice on the way to the doggy doctor and left his phone in the ambulance when they took him to the hospital after he fell and broke his ankle and the hospital didn't take his insurance so he had to pay in Amazon Cards.  [/s]

It is unfortunate to see a scam like this, an old user with some positive feedback.
I checked his account on bpip ----> https://bpip.org/profile.aspx?p=YoYa, there is no case for changing the email, password, or even waking up from a long time.
There is no change in the writing style as the user has made some transfers using Paypal/Neteller/skrill and a lot of activities that scammers do not usually do.
I hope he returns with a good story explaining what happened.

I just have received a PM from the user YOYA that this case has been resolved and I was asked to remove the negative tag from his profile. Can OP make sure if YOYA is saying truth? I can see the flag and neg tag on his profile till now.

Its better to wait for OP and only he can confirm it. I don't know why YOYA is ignoring this thread from the beginning and still we haven’t got any explanation from his side. You can suggest him to give a reply here rather than discussinh with you privately.

The thread is already marked as resolved and the original post is changed with explaination from op. I dont see the need to add anything here other then it was ofcourse never a scam attempt from my side.

Removing the support from the flag due to this statement from the OP about YoYa, which show's that the amount in question was refunded.

Thanks for the confirmation. He can send PM to them who have already submitted their support on both flag and maybe after having this thread link flag supporters will lift their support.

After 8 month later you got the refund from him. Really surprising! Anyway, good news is that your case has been solved.

This thread was created on December 19, 2019 but this is your first reply here. Do you still think you have followed the right way?

Sometimes shit happens.  I THINK this was one of them.  NO, I can never be 100% sure.  Hey, I could be proven wrong, wouldn't be the first time as I voted for Trump :D so this may be the second.  But I don't think so.

I had checked BPIP and before I refreshed it the last time he logged in was the date this originally happened.  My first though was that the account was sold.  Anything is possible.  For now I am giving him the benefit of the doubt. I can always (I think) reinstate the flags.

I kept a list of all those who supported the flags and if I turn out to be wrong I will PM you and donate his refund to charity.

Given that YoYa has now repaid the debt, and sandy-is-fine considers that this situation is "resolved", I have removed my support from the Type-3 flag, as these flag conditions are no longer valid:
...
YoYa did not make the victims of this act roughly whole, AND it is not the case that all of the victims forgave the act.
...

I have instead put a neutral tag on the account for now, referenced back to this thread.

NOTE: Currently, the flag is still "Active" with a "score" of 3-0. If the other users do not remove their support within a reasonable amount of time, I might consider "opposing" the flag so that the flag would have "insufficient support" and no longer be marked as active.

@YoYa, feel free to PM me again in a week if owlcatz, eddie13 and/or MiLkz have not responded and the flag is still active.

If he was "in some shit" I'd hate to be living with him because he'd probably stink!!   Coma maybe.   :D

OK, time to LOCK THIS TOPIC.  If my trust in him goes south you-all will be the first to find out and I will donate my "refund" to The Wounded Warriors organization.
