Title: [NEWS] YouTube Is Censoring Crypto Content, Channel Owners Say
Post by: bbc.reporter on December 26, 2019, 04:02:30 AM
I reckon that 2020 might be the beginning of the bear market for cryptoshills hehehe. Youtube might be correct in banning some of those videos because many of them show lack of intelligence. Those scammers do not give a good representation of the cryptospace.

It might be the season to shill the decentralized uncensorable video platforms hehehehe.

YouTube has not publicly stated that crypto videos are against its rules, meaning that users must read between the lines to deduce what is being targeted. Chris Dunn has noted that his own videos were removed on the grounds that they were responsible for the “sale of regulated goods” and contained “harmful and dangerous content.”

The wording of these notices has led some commentators to argue that YouTube is deliberately cracking down ICOs, referral links, and other marketing activity that is related to cryptocurrency. Others believe that the crackdown is simply the result of an overactive algorithm, and that YouTube might reverse its decisions in the future

Many YouTube hosts are considering moving to decentralized and uncensorable video platforms, such as PeerTube, LBRY, BitChute, and DTube. Incidentally, Twitter is also planning to create a decentralized media platform. Though it is not explicitly aimed at video hosting, it is an attempt to challenge heavy-handed content policies.

Scammers have been very active on youtube lately with their fake giveaways and most, if not all, of them have been massively reported (some channels were listed here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5198456.0) They could be one of the reason why some "influencers" videos related to crypto were taken down.

I heard this news several days ago when Chico Crypto got banned for a week ;D

https://twitter.com/ChicoCrypto/status/1209156308005343237

It looks like it's because of the "sale of regulated goods." ICOs/IEOs are illegal in many countries, so perhaps Youtube doesn't want to get involved in this mess. I personally enjoy many of the crypto channels (for the lols), even if it's a paid shill.

Youtube is a centralized platform, and they (crypto publishers) should move to another platform that offers more freedom of speech.

Yes, a very sensitive and famous social site as youtube has been used for ICO/IEO in some campaign and that is thr trend ever since. Some users are illegally promoting some ICO or IEO to gain some benefited out of YouTube. Anyway if this is the case then some will be possibly disappointed especially those inside paid famous vlogger who creating some marketing.

Medium, Twitter, Facebook, and now Youtube is starting a war with the crypto community. But if you look closely, most of the videos published on YouTube are video content from members of bounty companies and do not carry almost any useful information, except for advertising the project. I watch videos on YouTube about cryptocurrency only analytical channels. And the rest I consider useless slag.

The actions that YouTube doing are an indication of what centralized spaces can lead to. why can anyone ban people to make any kind of video? users of Youtube must decide what to watch by themselves and what is bad information for them. if people complain about the video - then it’s fair to block it or block the channel, but to do it just on their own or just because of the subject of the video is not fair

However, to everyone who is reading, will this massive censorship on cryptonews and cryptoshills on youtube not have a negative impact on bitcoin after the halving?

If youtube blocks content related to cryptocurrencies and does it for the sake of the law, then this platform should pay attention to the amount of advertising of pyramids, drugs and other fraudulent schemes.

Since it's been a topic for days, I've looked at the terms and conditions of YouTube. One reason for them to remove a video is if it includes scam. Though there are various ways to scam people. And I don't think some videos that got deleted was trying to scam people. But it also says that if YouTube removed a video, they'll be sending them a message through email. I think with that, they can clarify why their videos got deleted.
If ever video creators will move to other sites, I don't think it'll receive much attention like YouTube since YouTube is such a famous site.

I heard that some videos have been removed from the list. I got this news from Nugget, they stated that the video on their Youtube account can be seen now. Hopefully this is just a misunderstanding.

This just happened as a mistake and now all those removed videos were back again so no need to worry for now because google doesn't have any stance related to crypto influencer as far now.

Kevin does look like Ryan Gosling.

Moving to Decentralize tube sites are wise thing to do, the consequences though is that there isn't much traffic from them and monetizing will be much difficult compare to those with youtube and adsense account. Maybe this time they can just upload their content on youtube and at the decentralie exchange as well but consider introducing these PeerTube, LBRY, BitChute, and DTube to their youtube subscribers.

I do not think it is going to make a big difference and im quite sure that they must have removed paid, sponsored or bounty backed content which they would have classified as spam because viewers are encouraged to invest in a specific coin which may put users money at risk, so i think decent content is still there and youtube cannot remove it because it is the peoperty of the content creator.

Have you read this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5212947.0 ?

Privously, I could agree with their decision to ban crypto's video especially the airdrop content. There are a lot of video which could make the viewer fall to the scammer.
