5. Dash (DASH)
Coming in at number 5, Dash makes it onto the list of the top cryptocurrencies accepted worldwide. Dash, originally known as Darkcoin and XCoin, is a privacy coin that keeps things totally private for its users. Evan Duffield, the creator of Dash, decided to found his own coin after seeing the shortfalls created by Bitcoin and Litecoin. It should be an old data but how much total merchants that accept crypto as payment has already changed. I rarely to see that people are using crypto like BCH or even litecoin to buy on the merchant. I have ever seen people use dash to buy the product from the merchants but it has already a long time ago.
I believe if there is a lot of differences on the how much merchants that is still accepting crypto as payment.

453 merchants is old data. coinmap tells about 15857 businesses (https://coinmap.org/view/#/world/66.01801816/74.00390625/2). And even that is almost nothing. The world is big. Very big.
When the list will contain all the chains like Auchan, Kaufland, Lidl, Carrefour, McDonald's, KFC (all around the world), booking.com, ... , when most payment processors will also accept Bitcoin.. then we can say Bitcoin is easy to spend. It will happen in the future, but let's not fool ourselves.

BitPay is not the best example for Bitcoin, lately it is oriented towards BCash and has bigger fees for Bitcoin (!).
However, the crypto cards are, in many people's opinion, not really Bitcoin spending. Hefty fees, KYC, the need to keep bitcoin in custodian wallet, the need to keep fiat on most of those cards make them not much loved.
It is pretty easy to use them indeed, but it involves more steps than "super simple".


So we are on the right track, but we should not be too happy too soon, there's still much to work to get to the point Bitcoin is easy to spend. We aim to get close to fiat/cards easiness after all, don't we?

I have never tried any crypto yet rather than any of what you have said in your list.

Although, I am using some of it just for a cheaper transaction but with gambling I would always prefer bitcoin as the method to deposit some funds.
I guess the problem also is the option.
Most merchants just input bitcoin as the accepted crypto currency.

Bitcoin cash? is that a joke? If merchants want their customers to pay for higher fees and suffer for slower confirmation, they'll choose this coin. So, it's already been said that this was an old data and I don't think there will be the same choice for most merchants for that altcoin. Bitcoin is still the best despite of other altcoins advertising that they're cheaper and faster than bitcoin, still they can't do a par with it. I think there's a new data that BNB is also one of the choices among the cryptos to be accepted by merchants.

True, I also don't know about this, so this information is very useful for me personally and for them in general, because in the future there will be more people who want to use crypto in various ways.

In some countries maybe, but in the rest of the world i think its not even close to reality, only the key cities has the capability to accept cryptocurrency as payments, still fiat is the most accessible the dominant currency where ever you are, but in fairness to cryptocurrency, i think its slowly moving forward and continue to find more innovative ways to spend cryptocurrency in real time without hassle. for me cryptocurrency still needs a lot of time to break the barrier and spend cryptocurrency in the form of simplicity just like the traditional fiat money and i hope that day will come sooner that we expected.  

Of course they will do that easily and like shopping at an online store will also use a payment system that uses stable crypto and that will be a reference for them because they immediately want to be simple in making transactions and using crypto.

For me, the payment of electronic money is still very limited, until now I only use electronic money to upgrade 1 account on an overseas website. Daily purchase payment options are not available in my country.

Some are still not knowledgeable that crypto exists. There were times I tried to send money from to other countries and I really intend to explain and send my money thru crypto other than bank and remittances, sometime they just need to be teach as there are really available now almost everywhere.

It all depends on state policy, honestly until now I have practically practically illegal transactions, because there has been no official statement about the status of cryptocurrency, as for merchants who can receive payments via cryptocurrency can be counted, even large retailers here have not received payment methods with cryptocurrency. But this is what I have to go through, in some places it is enough to be grateful rather than not being able to at all, from the list I only use bitcoin and ETH to make transactions, because their exchange rates are quite high. Yes is accessible but the main problem is that will take time that more merchants accept it and shops and restaurants, but maybe we will see this in 5 years but is possible to not see it on all countries.

I totally agree with what you said. basically using crypto as a real payment tool is a very fun and safe thing in my opinion, how about crypto we don't need to repit the hassle of carrying cash which can cause various kinds of impacts such as theft, robbery etc. But with crypto we can feel safe because the key is in our brain in the form of a password, with crypto we can get all access rights in full. In fact, since I use and own crypto, especially in my area, there are also many private crypto providers and sellers (non-exchangers) and it's fun, we can buy everything we need, especially things related to the internet.
BTC, ETH are the first choice for transactions, and of course the whole world has recognized it.

So far so good crypto have been accepted by many merchants for payments but will it be accepted in all parts of the world? And when will that be,  not withstanding I believe in the future of crypto but it will take time to make it acceptable by merchants around the world.

Although crypto usage and mass adoption is growing steadily and slowly everyday but in countries like where i live they are officially banned that means they are being traded only in the background and unless govt declares them legal to buy and sell i think the pace will remain slow.

This is because the opportunity of profit in crypto currency is also growing therefore many government and other entities also starting to accept and use crypto currencies for the sake of profit that they are after.

And because of their acceptance, the opportunity in using crypto as a means of payment became more accessible. And there is a very little chance that this acceptance will stop instead it will continue to grow and many coins/altcoins will surely compete as the most useful coins/altcoins in the future.

It seems fun to use crypto as a payment tool besides being safe and comfortable to use without worry.
but the sad thing for me is that in the country where I live I have not found a shop or anything that uses crypto as a payment transaction.

I think the main problem is that. Maybe for digital product, a lot of people can access and buy it if they need. But for physical thing, not all country have shop that accept bitcoin, and people maybe think twice to buy something from other country because of cost of shipping or maybe tax in each country that maybe make we must pay more for it.

Interesting article. It only shows that crypto is becoming mainstream. I have seen one or two electronics machines in our country that already accepts transactions using BTC but I never knew that many altcoins are also accepted. The development of Blockchain and crypto is indeed running at a fast pace and many are supporting it.

Haven't experienced paying yet thru ETH unless its a personal transfer. In my merchants I only paid with Bitcoin as long as it supports the wallet application that im  using that is able to do bills payment. There is no known outlets yet that accept crypto in my area, it will be good if they will also plan to start this year.

That's so rampant these days, many of these people didn't really acquire the knowledge on cryptocurrency's usefulness on basic money spending. I guess sending money internationally was a basic services which every person used worldwide. Transferring money internationally provided a very comfortable ways in order to receive money without any hassle, and the safest and fastest ways in of getting your money through online was cryptocurrency transfer. Without any knowledge of that, of course it would be a huge problems as one mentioned here.

The problem here is that those asking never felt searching the Google for this information. at certain points, it still has to be adapted to the national system or it will get some legal problems. For example, the crypto payment clause that will be regulated by China this year. those who are accustomed to using, or crypto payment service providers, will be led to migrate using legally provided coins, they must release other crypto payment option attributes in accordance with applicable regulations.

We can say that merchants accepting crypto payments are definitely increasing since bitcoin is getting more attention but it's still not enough. It's indeed increasing but only in specific country and places. Here in my country, I still haven't encountered any merchant accepting crypto. Maybe there is but I haven't seen one yet.
In other countries it's not that accessible because either governments and lack of knowledge are the major factors affecting it.

I have seen many business in my country specially focused on foreigners have a bitcoin accepted here sign. Bitcoin payment through QR code is accepted in most of restaurants, jeweler shops, souvenir shops and hotels. Litecoin seems to be the second most popular here. Bitcoincash payments are much popular in China.

It could very well mean that there are more "verified merchants" this year than ever before and nothing else. However I too agree that bitcoin payments are definitely on the rise including all other altcoins as well but what do we consider a payment? What do we pay? BNB is the most used altcoin for payments if you look at trading fee as a payment for example, probably used even more than bitcoin, so is that a payment? Is it just shopping?

if the physical store in my place is also not available where we can buy coca cola or food using crypto, it is not yet available, but for me to buy some cellphone credit, exchange crypto for real money is available. Because people can't read or seem to use google to do their own research and rely on others asking silly things. There are so many places that accept crypto you will be amazed. You just have to look. Both of these project is limited in a country. Zeux fully operational on England and Kudi is in Africa. They may expand their operation globally in the future. But both are already working properly.

Mass adoption in general is increasing, every single industry has now players that are using blockchain and crypto currencies. But I believe that finance would be the one, that would finally bring crypto currencies into masses.

Pretty sure most of these businesses are outdated. At least in my city i already found some that don't offer crypto as a payment anymore. But i don't care, i am using wirex and can buy trough that. But i do love when the shop uses bitpay or something like that. I bougth my laptop that way.

Great points and well noted. You are absolutely correct, however there is no harm in celebrating the small victories. Merchants accepting crypto is undeniably on the rise, and while it may take some time to reach the fiat/cards easiness, we've taken great strides already.

I think that still you are able to pay only with BTC or LTC(ETH) on the internet, but forget about option to pay with DASH or Monero, who will accept it? Only stores that are connected to shady activities because legit stores have to prove the source of income.

It means that more people open their eyes about it and adopting it. The progress of cryptocurrency until today is really great but what I like these days are those crypto cards, there are few altcoins that partners with VISA and provides a convenient service like paying crypto in different merchant because Visa is more available currently in the establishment and businesses right now. Though, all the coins you listed widely used for transaction. Making it easier for merchants but I feel Monero should be included. The coins has lost of transaction especially in the dark web. Many people may frown at this considering the fact that it is used by criminals. But lots of legit people still use cause it anonymous transactions is assured.

Right now easier to find merchants that accept cryptocurrency payments. Because cryptocurrencies continue  to grow

yes, I am also happy to hear if there is a service that accepts payments via crypto. If I'm not mistaken pizza companies in America accept crypto payments. but majority use via BTC & ETH. I have never heard of accepting other crypto uses, if anyone knows, maybe you can enter the information here.

I am not really a big fan of these Bitcoin credit cards that have been getting so much hype lately. I think it is better for people to use Bitcoin directly for payments instead of using fiat intermediaries. We should be celebrating the few places that have embraced bitcoin for payments so that more companies will be encouraged to also accept it.

Useful isn't the right word, mate. Any cryptos were here for something( not you shitcoins). You would probably say "preferred" for paying because aside from popularity, you could also consider the scalability from the supply though network problem comes at place in here.
