Title: Thoughts on my portfolio please
Post by: Hairynipples on January 11, 2020, 10:25:57 AM
I bought most of my holdings in the last few months and while I'm down about 15% I think I made a sound long term investment, any suggestions on whether I made a good choice? :)

1. I appreciate that you've chosen Altcoin speculation for this thread. Really.
2. I don't know how good are all the coins from your list, but I will tell about what I know. Imho the % of Bitcoin from the total is too small (I'd keep BTC = 50% of the total). I am not convinced ETH is good enough to stay as bigger % of the investment than every other coin, but I've never trusted ETH too much. BNB looks good.

I'm fairly confident EOS and BNB will do well, just not sure about ETH.

NPXS and GAS are a gamble I'm hoping will pay off considering how much they've dropped since their ATH

I'm not shilling btw, just looking for input from seasoned traders! :)

Increase your percentage in BTC more, NPXS is not that great at this moment and would not suggest to hold. But if you want to hold then keep it in a wallet and stake them for FX (Another token of their own.). Increase the quantity of BNB rather than EOS or ADA.
ETH is good but keep BTC on top always.(Personal experience.)

I would sell out that ADA TRX NPXS and GAS for BTC. 60% for BTC then 20% for BNB then 20% for ETH but well it will depend on diversification yet each of us do have its own choice.

I would not do that if I were you, npxs and gas are not good looking right now. it still has a chance to do that but personally speaking, it is very unlikely to happen.
if you can, I advise you to liquidate both of it and then add your bitcoin holding. in the next few weeks or sooner than that, bitcoin will reach at least $10,000.

You really need to increase your position in BTC. Minimum 50% if possible. Also, I wouldn't recommend holding BNB long term. While I'm sure it can be a good idea, you just never know what's going to happen with Binance. It very well could shut down tomorrow and you would have nothing. Then again, nothing may happen with it and you may do very well. I just think it relies too much on nothing happening to Binance. Around what price did you buy most of your Bitcoin at? You very well could be in the positive if you had a little more Bitcoin. Depending on when you got in.

I am agree with you and maybe a lot of people in here too. Beside of that, maybe take less altcoins to hold will make us be more aware with coins that we already hold. Maybe if i am OP i will shrink it to be 3-5 coins and focus on it.

Just put more on bitcoin and I just remind you if NPXS is a dead coin right now even it's still traded on the exchange site doesn't mean if that was a good coin for sure. Remember GAS is also a crap coin right now. Rather than gas and as inflation coin and CRO is much better than GAS.
I think that it's better for you to remove both from your portfolios as it's not worth to keep both of coins.

You are missing the most important thing and the main investment in cryptocurrency. Sell those who have less movement and convert it to bitcoin or if you have some money left you can buy more bitcoin, i mean higher percentage than the highest altcoins you have invested.

All of these coins are good for long term investment. But why in your portfolio bitcoin percent is low? I think you should hold 50% of your money in btc not altcoins.I have less faith on Pundi X.though they are working on it but there price decreasing day by day. Others all coins are profitable. If you have no hurry hold them.who knows in bull run you can make huge amount of money from these coins.

There should be more investments in bitcoin than in other altcoins bitcoin these past few days have experienced a good increase so you will get a good profit.
Your percentage is too big on Ethereum because ETH is still not showing an increase unless you are in the long run.
As PundiX must be discarded and replaced with other coins that are more worthy of being in your portfolio.

I think that your portfolio is great, thanks for sharing it with us. I think that what is left now is too accumulate more of
these coins and maybe to add some new from time to time. This is a long-term investment, it's the same with me, and like
every long-term investment we need to add some more when ever we can in the meantime.
I can't say much about NPXS and GAS, I don't have them. Our portfolios are more than 75% similar, once I get in some investment
I don't sell. If I plan to have more Bitcoins I will add more money, that stands for all other coins I have.

+1

I should say that focus to increase this first before diversifying into different altcoins so whenever bitcoin's price pushes up, your portfolio will benefit from it. Because with this kind of portfolio, when bitcoin stumbles, you'll be the most affected one because that's how altcoins react to bitcoin's motion.

Thank you everyone for your input, I'll swap the NPXS and GAS for BTC for now :)
Good decision and increase it again soon.

your choice good it's just that situation of applying funds is partially inverted ,you need to re-evaluate the funds included my suggestion might be the same as NeuroticFish regarding% ,well again my advice anyway you should add at least 10 products in your portfolio to reduce risk later on fend off some losses by playing it safe

I'm really curious as to why you have GAS but no Neo, as the two go together. You need GAS to send Neo, so the more active Neo is in terms of transaction, the more GAS is needed.

Your list is good, just there is a little shortage about the amount you have diversified. The amount you have allocated to BTC is less than ETH. Perhaps you have calculated this in accordance with the potential for increase and thought it should be, but you should allocate to BTC at least as much as the amount you allocate to others. While BTC is most likely to increase, how do you trust others so much? At least look at the market situation in recent months, was not BTC the best?

I had 15 Neo but sold them recently for a reasonable profit, I hung onto the GAS as I bought it at a higher price and was hoping it would go up again.

I would personally cut it down to 3 or 4 coins. ETH BNB ADA seem like a fine choice, but the rest I would keep in BTC. You never know when the next good trade will show itself to you and you must be ready to invest then. Investing too much of their portfolio and speculating all of it at once is one of the biggest beginners mistakes as then they sit on piles of shitcoins that are bleeding off when this next whateverum shows up and goes 30x in first 2 weeks. its better to be prepared for this and have some stash of cash on the side.

BTC nada has to use most of your money. It's better to cross out some altcoins if you want to invest in BTC. but if not you can enter the assets you said. if you divide too much, the profit you get from investment will also be less. just focus on the few that have the best graphics.

you have already a good set of currency but i think you should sell that NPXS and replace by good altcoins like Litecoin(LTC) or even RIpple(XRP)
because i don't see good future on that project and may end up becoming a shitcoin in future so replacing with good and reputed coins will be much better than to expect on that one.

You will get definite chances to "escape" only due to the reason of "you're planning for long-term". Yes, including bitcoin all the reported altcoins are only good when you are planning for long-term holding; in short-term anything may happen but when investors not hurrying to see profits then they can do better with this type of crypto portfolio.

I am also holding most of the coin you are holding. NPXS and BNB are not yet in my consideration; few months back I was in plan to invest with BNB then I had changed my mindset. Gas is something I have not analyzed yet. All the very best with your long term holding plans. Please update here about your progress time to time.

Well, long term investment is good. but if you can afford it. a few months ago you bought crypto. and today it has fallen 15%. I think not to open a portfolio is a good thing. because if you see an asset that has fallen, it will only create panic. leave for some time. do other work and open when crypto has improved.

I contradict. Investing and dividing your portfolio in several potential coins can maximize the profits as the amount of profits we would have from each of the coins would directly lead for the growth of your profits, but on the other hand if you invest in few certain coins then you need to wait for only those coins to make a pump so that you can sell off.

Profits would be good in that situation too but if you are a professional trader with immense knowledge about how trading works and how to understand the graphs then you can basically find a number of good coins and can diversify your investments accordingly. You would surely find yourselves landed in profits if you spend most of the time in making an immense research before you could buy that coin.

You're suggestions could provide our friend a break from his stressful times taking lots of monitoring on his blockfolio. However, on times that he tend to panic that's making him more difficult to undergo self control because of pressures behind him. It shouldn't be like that, and there are times we've been struggling but having patience while watching our asset is the best strategy to have.

I'm not overly concerned with a 15% loss, I watched (with horror tbh) when every coin tanked around August last year so I'm aware that it's all a volatile market, the money I've invested is from work related bonuses so it's income I wasn't guaranteed to earn so effectively play money.

The way I see it is I'll either make a substantial profit or lose most of it :)

Good choice when it comes to altcoins as you have chosen worthy altcoins but you need to balance the percentage of coins you are holding, I would suggest  you to go with at least 50% - 60% bitcoin and remaining 40 to 50% need to be altcoins because whenever the value increases it's bitcoin go get large share of increase.

Title: Re: Thoughts on my portfolio please

I think that it is extremely well balanced. Perhaps a bit too much so.

You should perhaps include some smaller cap coins for quick gains in case one of them gets pumped, because when the bullish sentiment is back in the market is very likely that sooner or later a small cap will experience a significant surge in bullishness due to various factors, including the fear of missing out.

However, make sure that you are only buying liquid small cap coins. XVG is a good example.

I can't correct your choice whether it's good or not, as far as I see there are only a few coin sections in the top 100 in your portfolio, if I were you maybe I wouldn't think of taking long-term investment risks for projects like NPXS and GAS because they are not part of the top 100 CMA, so I think in the long run it will be difficult too, but if you believe you still hold it, just hope that the crypto market really recovers soon, hopefully your portfolio develops to rise, I prefer ETH, TRX, EOS and BNB from your portfolio because these 4 types have different blockchain

if you see a potential market increase it's better to exchange dollars for other assets such as buying more BTC or ETH. because if you save the dollar also the value will not develop in the crypto market. it's just that saving dollars will have a value that is not much reduced or increased. it's safer.

You have chosen most of the best altcoins in this market, but there is one altcoin that I do not believe is PundiX. This altcoin is not really too good for me and its price is very hard to recover. For more than 2 years of operation, PundiX did not do anything and if in 2020 this situation still exists, I believe it will quickly die. It is better to replace this altcoin with some other altcoins, such as NEO ...

Not a bad portfolio.

I'd go 50% BTC, and the rest in alts.

If you want to chase some high risk, high reward kind of gains, you should consider getting some BLOCK as well ;).

Why? Because Blocknet is first movers on the DEX developments, and frankly, I believe the ever increasing amounts of exchange hacks, will move people to decentralized exchanges eventually. It's true that most DEX's today doesn't have a lot of volume, but Mt.GOX didn't have a "ton" of volume either back in the days.
Decentralization is the next big thing we need to adopt, and if it truly takes off like I predict, a project such as Blocknet could easily 100x, let alone 500x in value over the next coming years.

Sounds crazy, but the demand for nodes on their network will be insane, since service nodes will earn DEX trading fees, kind of like being your "own exchange", which I'm sure will make some investors filthy rich some day.

It's all just speculation though, good luck with your portfolio  ;D

Actually, your choice of coins is good enough because the majority have the potential for long-term investment, so at this time you only need to focus on holding patiently with market conditions. and you need to look for other income if you want to still feel safe when doing hold

You've really got a wise selection. I must say each of these coins you are holding in your portfolio would give you benefits but you need to be patient. None of those coins would give you loss if you are tending to invest for long terms.

Try to HODL them until your expected price reaches so that you can see them off. The price keeps on changing rapidly due to the high volatile nature of the cryptocurrencies which makes it common to make your portfolio land up in loss temporarily but eventually it would grow up and would fill your pockets. Investing the amount you afforded over here is surely going to give you some good profits for the long term.

You have to take into account charts of trades and requests before you sell them. not because the price has gone up and you're lucky you sold it. remember you will not feel satisfied when you sell and after that, the price goes up even 2x of your selling price. pay attention and analyze correctly do not let you regret it.

if the assets you hold are what you have marked in the picture, I think that is very good. the only disadvantage of investing you have right now is that you have so many altcoins. I suggest minimizing the assets that you hold, maybe 5 or 3 coins. it can be a very good profit when prices have gone up.

At the first, sorry to say that you have made mistake by buying coin without clear plan. you look like dont have plan by asking like that
all you need before investing is having plan. the plan include:

1 buy price
2 sell price target
3 stop loss
4 how many buy

Those are what at least you have. if not, youll be always like this, asking help for your portofolio

Your list is good, but I think you should hold more BTC because BTC is the biggest cryptocurrency in this market and its price will greatly impact the altcoin. It is best to use 40-50% of your investment to buy bitcoin, then use the rest to buy the altcoins on your list. In the long run you will definitely get a profit, because the altcoins you choose are the best altcoins in the market and as long as the bull market starts, everything will go to the moon.

It's good to diversify as long as we were able to monitor and be updated on the news of each coin. Some of my alt from bounty already loss their value I'm not sure whether they exit scam or just don't have value due to bear market. That's why now I assure those with higher quantity on my portfolio I make sure to monitor them now. Having portfolio is knowing how to managed them, so select only those you can handle.

I would say your porfolio looks good because I am bias here, I also have the coins you hold for long term and I also intend to hold it longer.

I am just waiting for the right timing for altcoins to pump then drop them, but I know we have different target so it's okay as long as we both sell for a profit.

I also have a few coins in my hand. but I will not be satisfied for a long time if there are pumps on the market and show improvement that I feel has benefited me. do not need huge profits, the most important thing now is the advantage of every altcoin that we hold. when trading increases then, of course, the altcoin market will also have the possibility to pump and that is the right time to get immediate profits.

The coins in general look good, but I would echo the sentiment expressed by others that you need more BTC.
The biggest mistake I made in crypto was to go all-in on alts when I started. For a long time I thought ETH would become #1 and overtake BTC. This is because I hadn't understood how pivotal BTC is to the fortunes of all of crypto.

I bought most of my holdings in the last few months and while I'm down about 15% I think I made a sound long term investment, any suggestions on whether I made a good choice? :)

You have chosen the right coins, the coins that you hold are all coins that have big names and even if you hold it for the long term it will definitely be profitable.

You have to take into account charts of trades and requests before you sell them. not because the price has gone up and you're lucky you sold it. remember you will not feel satisfied when you sell and after that, the price goes up even 2x of your selling price. pay attention and analyze correctly do not let you regret it.

Not really. You take trading charts into account if you're an active speculator, but otherwise long-termers only need to set the entry and exit waaaay before any of that.

You should have a target, and feel satisfied both ways. If you meet your exit, great. Then you reconsider and then enter again if you want. You can't regret in trading otherwise you'll never prove your strategies right or wrong.

Seems like you have invested larger amount of your money into Ethereum compared to Bitcoin. Well, that was just fine because it seems that you primarily entrust your money to Ethereum than Bitcoin. But for me, on my stand, I would rather go for a higher investment on Bitcoin than Ethereum specially as for now that the price of Bitcoin is continuously step by step rising at each moment of time which is really good and more profitable to your account. Well, the other assets into your portfolio seems to be nice because you would not put such into your portfolio if you did not see any potential on those coins. Well, the prices into your account will still change in which you can liquidate those you will observe to be unworthy and change into other sort of Altcoins in the market because still there are lots of potential coins in the market. But as of the moment, your portfolio looks good and it would be better on my opinion if you will put larger investment always into the part of Bitcoin rather than Altcoins although both have potential, but being practical specially with the current situation that Bitcoin's price is rising, it will be more beneficial having larger investment into Bitcoin.

I have a great deal of admiration to the coins that you listed in your portfolio. These are great coins I would buy myself. But I don't share your two choices in NPXS and GAS. You may of course have reasons I may not know or share. But I would rather replace them with XMR and LTC. But still the overall basket is really nice.

basically a nice combination.
From the point of view of the allocation I would try to rearrange so that BTC comes in position 1.
would hold 30-40% in BTC and divide the rest proportionally. this as a first approach to the whole.
a portfolio that is currently only 15% in the red is a good portfolio. there are other examples. :D

in conditions like now, it is indeed the greatest profitable investment potential is to have more BTC and some altcoin. I also try like that but with the existing calculations, I will not get a big profit from BTC if I only have capital that is not so large. I'm more interested in altcoins like BNB and ETH.

yesterday morning I traded a few coins and while BTC is currently only 15% of my portfolio, the Alts I hold have done very well :)

Up 13% overall, $250 AUD profit in 24 hours :)
