Why does a retired man in his 60s who does not appear to be well-off and is the carer for his 90+ year old mother want to convince People of the Internet that he does not have 600 million dollars worth of a thing he doesn't actually understand?

I agree, it is a vexing question.

I have to admit that if I were him, I would be milking it for all it is worth. Did you know that a lot of big magazines will pay for interviews? Not to mention the speech circuit, book deals, endorsements... Jesus

Hey, guys I AM SATOSHI NAKAMOTO. I wrote the paper and all those forum posts and I can prove it because I have pictures that I will post soon. Important announcements in a few days after I get my sh1t together. Be back soon with important announcement.

Your idea sound like fun, but...
Dorian is (probably) not the one we call Satoshi.

The shorter 'Satoshi' might be a decent name for a dog.
Hey everyone, some guy named seriouscoin is going to name his dog Satoshi Nakamoto, and he thinks we are idiots.....lol?   :D
Is he a really smart dog?

Satoshi is not in denial.  He genuinely does not remember bitcoin. It's age related amnesia.  Sadly, his mom
sold his computer two years ago when he was really sick and all his bitcoin went with it.

Now that he is recovering a bit he has resumed working on his kickass train set.

Why on earth does he want to cut his ties with Bitcoin? I don't get the problem...

Satoshi abandoned bitcoin the very same day Gavin Andresen informed him of his plans to visit the feds in Washington to discuss the project.

By examining the last posts (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2228.msg29479#msg29479) of Nakamoto, you can clearly see he had no plans to give up on the project until then. I don't think had he planned on leaving, that he would have left everyone holding the "there are still more ways to attack than I can count" bag.

Fortunately a young Canadian programmer became interested in the unfinished work of Satoshi and began piecing together the parts that Nakamoto had yet to finish. He completed the 51% attack defense and integrated it into his own coin (http://gldcoin.com/).

He continues to work until this day - in secret - continually improving his predecessor's code. The last public statement from this mysterious developer was that he planned to release the world's first multi-threaded modular java client in spring.

Not everybody is looking for fame or glory as "the founder" of XYZ... It turns out some people are down to earth and pretty happy living a humble life far from the media spotlight... Some of the biggest geniuses of the history of mankind lived unnoticed by their contemporaries...

There is some interesting theories, one being that the last thing Shatoshi told Gavin, was said at Gavin's meeting with the CIA.

lol that's exactly it, plus Satoshi's account posted he's not Dorian, I do think he probably cut ties with Bitcoin precisely because of this kind of thing happening.
