Title: Need help with mycelium.
Post by: jk_rsn on January 12, 2020, 04:10:43 PM
Hello there!

I have mycelium installed on an android device and it has 0.00019654 BTC. Below that there is a price being shown how much a BTC is worth according to the certain exchange company. Now according to "BitcoinVenezuela.com" 1 BTC is worth 253,188,000 USD so if this is true I have around 50,000 USD with me. Can anyone tell me how to cash out with this exchange company ? As in have the funds transferred to my Ethereum account.

Thank you.

Mate, the amount of bitcoin you have in the mycelium wallet is not worth what you are seeing. I advise that you check the market value of bitcoin at coinmarketcap.com. You should also set the price value of 1 bitcoin on the wallet to that of coinmarketcap and stop believing in this nonsense 😊😊

Use preev to check the price of bitcoin for USD value.

http://preev.com/

1BTC = $8098

so 0.00019654BTC = $1.59

I see this in that site-

Well, sometimes price may vary in different countries. For instance, even though the price of bitcoin was around $8000, it was $24000 almost in Iran some days ago because of the high demand. In case, the price of BTC is high in any specific country, you have to get the exchange where it's being traded at that price. If you can trade at that exchange, you can also sell at that high price. I guess you have the basic knowledge of trading; at least how price increases or decreases.
However, it may not possible to sell high in such case for people outside the country because the price fluctuation happens in Local exchanges which other citizen may not have the permission to exchange or they may not have the access of their local currency.

OP you probably over reacted due to excitement. I just the checked the website you talked about and there is anything like the price you mentioned. It's pretty much with in the current range. Even if BTC to go to even just 20K in Venezuela, the price would get balance out quickly by arbitrage traders looking to make some quick profits.

Mycelium is not an exchange company it's a mobile BTC wallet you can't exchange directly from the Mycelium wallet. And it's not worth it to transfer this small amount of BTC to any exchanges because you will still need to pay the fee when sending it from mycelium to another wallet or exchanges.

Also, Mycelium still has a server issue(So it won't sync if you send BTC from the app) if you still want to take your BTC out from mycelium wallet you will need to make an offline transaction from mycelium using 3rd party tool like https://coinb.in/

I've been using Mycelium for many, many years now. It has never had that issue in my experience. It does occasionally require reloading the account to show a new receive but that's it.

That's on Android. Mycelium on Ios has been abandoned and no one should be using it.

As for OP, set the price in Mycelium to Bitstamp which for most is the reference Bitcoin market price.

I thought they are both have syncing issues Android and IOS Mycelium.

That's good news for Android users if it's still working but for me, I decided to remove it last year because the last time that I use it I made a transaction offline because of syncing issues last year for almost a month.

Maybe my problem just because of the very long transaction history that is why it keeps syncing or loading. I'm going to test it again on the Android version and I hope this time my wallet will sync properly.

I also try to send my btc into an exchange yesterday and it only displays syncing looks like mycelium has a display issue until now @OP if you cant sync the current price of your btc within mycelium wallet you can use electrum instead those prices you see on BitcoinVenezuela.com is not realistic and its not true either.

The value of your Bitcoin holding is unfortunately nowhere need that estimate you posted. I am not sure why or how you saw that information but it is wrong.

Feel free to enter your full Bitcoin amount in https://currencio.co/btc/usd/ or https://coinmarketcap.com/converter/ and you will notice that the sites are currently showing a value between $1.59 - $1.60.

No idea how you got to conclude the value of the BTC you state using the referenced website. It does not even match the VES conversion, so it’s extremely odd. The counter value is 1,68$ today using that same site.

You may also resort to using your Spanish local board (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=27.0) (I assume it’s this one, based on the site you mention) if you feel more comfortable.
