Title: A tip on buying cheaper mining ASICs from Bitmain (January 2020)
Post by: mikeywith on January 12, 2020, 06:00:45 PM
As most of you already know, you can buy Bitmain coupons and use them to purchase miners,  what you might be missing is the fact that the majority of circulating coupons which If i had to guess I would say well over 95% of them expire on 31/1/2020, the current list of which I am were of is:

Code:
140$
153$
163$
173$
175$
183$
192$
201$
293$
306$
689$

The current average price for these coupons is about 15% of their value, and every couple of days their value drops a bit more, so my estimation is that starting from 25th of this month you will be able to buy them for close to 5%.

The supply is a lot, I am almost certain that they won't run out, therefore, if you are planning to buy more gears as I am planing to do, it would be best to wait until 25th to buy cheap coupons and get extra savings on your orders.

You should also take note that these coupons have a 10% rule, more details can be found in the quoted post below.

Also there is a problem with these large value coupons, they only make sense for large orders due to the 10% rule, for example see below

Here is an attempt to buy 1*Antminer T17e - 53TH/s

1-Using a 140$ coupon

https://i.ibb.co/JQghtVH/140.jpg

2-Using a 175$ coupon

https://i.ibb.co/YLqPPdw/175.jpg

Basically the same discount regardless of the coupon value, so a 689$ coupon is only worth it for an order that is above $3060, because for anything less than that, buying a 306$ coupon for 45-60$ would give you the same discount.

Where are these coupons usually traded?

make sure it is a good seller

Or just use escrow services provided by a few members on forum, transfering the coupon is fairly easy and can't be refunded or faked, so it takes a very small effort to actually escrow a coupon deal.

You just need an escrow agent who has a Bitmain account, phill does, and he is well trusted i can vouch for him.

From the web site:
1. Purchase coupon, post-sales coupon and order coupon cannot be used in the same order.
2. More than one purchase coupon/post-sales coupon cannot be used for the purchase of one item.
3. Multiple units of order coupon can be used in the same order as long as the total coupon value is less than the required maximum percentage of the order amount.

You can't use two different types of coupon on the same order, e.g. one with no expire date and one with a limit

You can test this yourself, by putting some miners in the cart, going to checkout and seeing what coupon combination you can use.

There are also individual limits on the coupons with regards to what % discount can be applied. This also is specified during the checkout process.

So say you had $2000 worth of miners in your cart, and you had 2 x $147 10% coupons that expire Jan 31, you wouldn't be able to get more than $200 of the $294 face value of the combined coupons off the order.

No

it is very simple math.

the s9k is $97.00 dollars  the most you can discount it is $9.70   if you have 10% coupons.

so  for instance I have 2x 41 dollar coupon total of 82 in coupons.

if I buy 1 s9 use 41 coupon I get 9.70 off and it will reject that second coupon.
if I buy 2 s9 use 41 coupon I get 19.40 off and it will reject that second coupon
if I buy 3 s9 use 41 coupon I get 29.10 off and it will reject that second coupon
if I buy 4 s9 use 41 coupon I get 38.80 off and it will reject that second coupon

if I buy 5 s9 use both 41 coupons I get 48.50 off  it will use all of one 41 and part of the second 41 coupon.

you max would be  buying 8 units  8 x 97 = 776   and you use 77.60 of the 2x 41=82 coupons.

YOU HAVE A CREDIT BALANCE!!  this is good.

read through here. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5201488.0

Then tell me how much is the balance.

It is complicated  and you will need to email bitmain often but you get the credit fully.

Ie   a 600 usd credit  you get it all just do an order for like 700

use a 10% coupon  drops the price to 640.  don't pay  email and ask them to apply that credit.

Do you want to buy Antminer S9k? please don't, you will lose your money, I have just finished writing a topic  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5218440.msg53633991#msg53633991) about this a while ago, read through it, but long story short, DO NOT BUY THEM, THEY ARE SHIT.

if you don't have stable voltage and you have to get S9, at least get the S9e version, or find used S9i/S9j in your country.
