You can't predict event that will and when affect the price and how much it could affect it. I mean even halvening you can't clearly say when and how and thats most known 99% sure knowledge about price/value of bitcoin increase. Post by: YuginKadoya on January 14, 2020, 03:23:00 PM Indeed it is spiking off the charts and all I have to do is to enjoy this kind of ride and never really think about how this may happen, but on thinking about this I can only think of the event of the halving as many investors, whales and even normal people that want a taste of the halving can sure think of a pump that may happen when the halving occurs, although in some cases if the halving would not become successful there still be a risk that may occur.

Not enough sellers and a multitude of buyers trying to get a position results in big, voluminous candlesticks.

As to the reasons? hard to say, maybe investors are really preparing for the block halving or whales trying to set up a bull trap. In my personal experience, when you do things on the fly in this market, more often than not you end up regreting doing it, in this case, selling at current prices when maybe at the end of the week we'll be at 10k (just an example). That's why you have an stratetgy and set your price targets in advance...you know, basic stuff for those looking to profit in the short-term/long-term.As to why the price is going up...who knows? Maybe something's brewing behind the scenes and those with access to insider information are filling their bags, it could be whales manipulating the price (bull trap), could be FOMO kicking in...There are so many variables in play in the cryptosphere, but more specifically in the btc market, that it's really hard to pinpoint exactly what's causing this massive spike in the price. The only good thing about the current market movements is that, the more the price continues to stay above 8k, the greater the chances of the bear market not returning (for a very long time). In my opinion, it is only natural for bitcoin's to pump and dump from time to time because of its volatility, and I know that things are getting interesting because of this sudden price hike.

In a few days it can go down again, or maybe it will even continue to rise. In my opinion people are exited for Bitcoin it just became 2020 and these 2 years are going to be great for us, to spectate what the price is going to do. The only news that makes bitcoin so exciting is halving, and it will take place in a few months. The current price increase is due to its influence and I believe that the price will continue to go up in the next few months. For the actual reasons causing the spike of bitcoin, no one can specifically pinpoint what is causing it. You just have to take advantage of this spike and make some profits out of it. If you want to focus on finding the actual cause of this spike, you might just be wasting your time.

Even in the stock market, which I've been into for years, I never paid much attention to explanations as to why prices were moving the way they did. I suppose it matters more if you're a day trader and trade stocks (or crypto) quite often, but that's never the way I invested. So whatever is really causing bitcoin to shoot upward right now doesn't interest me all that much--and if I were to try to explain it myself I'd be pulling theories out of my ass, and what's the point of that? There will be some normal corrections but the goal is that. But if you just looked at the charts BTC just broke a major downtrend line at 8,200$ and on top of it BTC is now above its 200 EMA moving average which it hasn't passed for a long time, now if we continue on an up trend and break the 200 MA line at around 9,120$ there is a good chance we go straight right up at 11,000$.

Though seems unreal for such circumstances to trigger but those significant changes doesn't always imply by particular events. Because I don't see anything either, halvening is yet to come. I do not consider the news in terms of the price movement of the bitcoin. The recent breakout only means that the buyers are now in control. We should not expect too much to the price because there it is very exaggerated for me and it seems not realistic if we will still expect that it can achieve its previous ath in just weeks.

Then it slowly doubled a couple times before it spiked to $20,000, burst, and settled into high $3,000's. It’s rallying again. You are right, why would we try to explain this sudden spike, what would be the purpose of finding a reason for this spike? People would like to find a specific signal that triggered this, so they can try to be on alert for that signal next time. I think it is impossible, the price is rising due many factors, I think it's never just one reason behind the price spike. Or the positive came from halving in May and many investors were expecting a year of price increases for bitcoin so they started buying it now. I don't care too much about the reasons, just bitcoin and the market going up it will make a lot of investors profit if they bought bitcoin at the previous stage.

My assumption was that there were too many long futures and leveraged longs and that means some whales wanted the bitcoin price to go up, that could draw a connection between bitcoin price and its increase.
If whales wants something they usually get it, not all the time but most of the time. Plus there was a try for going down that failed, maybe some people realized we hit the bottom and decided it is not worth trying any further and gave up, maybe we were always bull but the bears kept the selling pressure high but just gave up, when they gave up we started to go up? I think price moved alot as we 'broke' the 50 day, it had tried and failed to do as much 3 times previously so that was a running break through that wall that continued past it and upwards I guess.
Its not really spiking just a combination of buyers bullish on that push past but also the stop orders on short sellers, these turn into buyers as well hence when a line fails to hold its creating a rush and rapid movement from the reversal. Traders watch and try to capture these areas where price changes so fast that its profitable justifiable to accelerate risks and deploy leverage. I wouldn't be so assured to call the current price stable. If you look closely, Bitcoin has only been in the $8000 range for a week now and even during that time it has fallen below the 1 week is really too short to define a stable period. Just look today, half of the market is decreasing, if it continues we could go again below the $8k line at the end of the week. Events happen as always in the financial industry but that doesn't mean it will affect bitcoin as always. Before, price increase are just regular things that happens in the bitcoin community specially here. Why else should there be any reason behind now? There is none! It is just a normal fluctuation. I wouldn't be shocked if we get to learn that there was absolutely nothing related for the spike and it was just a due time increase that people started to buy at the same time triggering even more and more and more people buying, that sounds as reasonable as all the other theories put forward. Of course, there has to be some sort of logical explanation why people said "enough" in the past 10 days instead of any time previously or in the future, but what happened has happened and questioning why will not change the price in the end.
