Social media on a blockchain is pretty unnecessary in my opinion. Not everything needs to be on a blockchain, and better yet, not everything needs to have it's own cryptocurrency.

I think most of the users doesn't want to get on new projects like that because it's not essential anymore if we have a working one and there's already a community that's been built. Also you need to promote your own content to get get paid for it. Its like a circlejerk and almost begs you to buy steemdollars to feature your content for more SBD. Welp, disclaimer disclaimer: it didn't disrupt crap. I gave it a chance more than a year ago, and for some reason crappy memes that I've seen a hundred times on the internet are getting upvoted to the top, while actual good content doesn't get that much feedback unless the poster is a famous YouTube "iNfLuEnCeR" or something. Publish0x Are two platforms but rather than being alternative to reddit they are medium clones where you post articles. Havent seen any true blockchain based reddit alternatives so far, any clones that might come up in future will just have their own token for upvote or to credit creators rather than publishing content on true blockchain because it will be very expensive to run and space consuming.
