1. Do people ever chat privately  in this forum? I dout because everyone is scared of being ban, I have seen alot of ban on this forum seems they're even more than the active ones, please can the admin introduce temporary ban (warning)  before the permanent  ban?  Anybody can fall victim because ban appeal don't work I've seen so many complaints concerning it.

2. Forum should allow the use of profile pictures we're not ghost workers I don't even believe female exist on this forum.

3. Private chat should remain private.

Note: that's just my opinion and suggestions the forum has been using same rules from the creation day.

Temporary ban exists! If you do something very wrong it's unlikely you would change... so some cases temporary, others permanent


Once you get Full Member status you can have an avatar. Untill then you are a GHOST WORKER !


PM's are strings in a database. Only theymos has access. If you don't trust him go somewhere else. Be sure FB and Google are NOT reading your messages :)

Yes you can chat privately here. Try to familiarize the Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0) so that you'll never fear about a possible ban and AFAIK that if you get more temporary ban you'll get a permanent ban. LOL ban appeal works it's just that some are too long but mostly that depends on the case of the ban.


You can get your profile avatar once you reach Full Member rank, you can get some information here: Forum ranks/positions/badges (What do those shiny coins under my name mean? (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178608.0). I disagree, even on our local I know a few people that have an account here, I guess they just prefer not to disclose it.


I can't comment out if it's really private but I guess it's not.

there is a temporary ban that ranges from 7 days, 14 days, 30 days and the fourth is a permanent ban(I think that is enough warning before the permanent ban). I agree that a private chat should
remain private but if that chat is a piece of critical evidence to an accusation it should be shown to prove the accusation.

My guess is ban evading, but without proof it's just that... a guess

For point #2, previously it was abused to the point of compromising the forum's security, hence theymos restricted it to Full Members and above.

Okay, but you have to read again the forum rules, yes, account can be ban for sending unsolicited messages but the ban should be temporary only and that can be called as a warning, AFAIK and based on what I witnessed, most of the perma ban are only due to  plagiarism.

The forbidden account is you, this drama is played by yourself.

Want to know why you are banned, this is the reason you are banned, "plagiarism".

What can I say, it doesn't even look like you're scared of a ban you might get for something you did/are going to do..  ::)

I don't like harsh punishes, but I don't like this forum being mocked either so I'm oscillating between whether a temp-ban before a perma-ban is a good idea or not. Most threads about ban appeals are started by people acting innocent when, in fact, they know they did not respect the rules of the forum.

The only reason I'd prefer having a temp-ban before a perma one on this forum is due to the fact that there might really be a few users being banned for something they did not intend to do. A change is possible, but it rarely happens. However, when I see ban evasions, I wish these users had an IP ban of the forum just so they could learn their lesson. Seeing users avoiding bans is disgusting and shall be punished as deserved.

I don't see the connection between bans and private chats (PMs). You don't think the admins are sitting around reading our PMs all day do you?

Male, Female or Autobot, nobody cares. The interest here is Bitcoin and Crypto and your real identity and pictures should be kept private.

Well of course it is.  I would have to be living in a bizarro world if one of my friends showed up at my place crying that they'd been banned from bitcointalk--and I fully realize that in some countries there are whole families (apparently) who participate in bounties and/or work on bounty farms, but I didn't believe OP's claim from the get-go.  Sounded way too far fetched.

That's all true, and I suspect there are probably more females here than we realize.  People just like to keep their information private, and there's nothing wrong with that.
