Title: CRYPTOECON 2020 | 28 February - 3 March | Hanoi, Vietnam
Post by: layer1gfx on February 01, 2020, 07:36:13 AM
This thread has been created to announce the upcoming CRYPTOECON 2020 (http://www.cryptoecon.org/) event in Hanoi, Vietnam.

I quote Tomo's post on the partner website https://bitcoinsaigon.org/cryptoecon-2020-hanoi/

CryptoEcon 2020 in Hanoi - The Bitcoin-centric event of the year in Vietnam!

After several months of preparation, this week saw finally the official announcement of CryptoEcon 2020 (http://www.cryptoecon.org/) in Hanoi, which by all measures will likely be the unmatched Bitcoin-centric event of the year for Vietnam, which has been flooded by low-quality, scammy “Blockchain” events but starved for real, valuable content for far too long.

CryptoEcon 2020 is designed to be a match in terms of speaker selection and quality to other Bitcoin-focused events like e.g. the Baltic Honeybadger conference; however, it will put a specific focus on the economic aspects of Bitcoin and the incentives with which all participants in the network act which results in the volatile, but so far resilient equilibrium in which the Bitcoin network operates in order to withstand any system-threatening attack vectors.

CryptoEcon 2020 is a project by the non-profit Libbitcoin Institute (https://libbitcoininstitute.org/) and a brainchild of its Lead Developer Eric Voskuil (https://twitter.com/evoskuil), who has in the past already been speaking at the local meetups in Saigon (https://www.meetup.com/Bitcoin-Saigon-Meetup/events/259622127/) and Hanoi.

If you are into Bitcoin and live in or around Vietnam - this conference is certainly a “must-do” on your calendar!

Tickets for CryptoEcon2020 can be ordered here (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/cryptoecon-2020-tickets-84241838607).

New interview with Eric Voskuil is up on BitcoinSaigon (https://bitcoinsaigon.org/eric-voskuil-interview/):

I’ve always loved Baltic Honeybadger. It’s a fun and intimate conference, with a solid focus on Bitcoin. The chance to interact with speakers and attendees in a social setting is of primary importance to attendance. Otherwise just stay home and watch the videos. I wanted to combine the rigor of Scaling Bitcoin, which I experienced as a member of its program committee, with the intimacy of Honeybadger, while focusing on rational economics pertaining to Bitcoin.

Also otherwise a great read!

What issues will be considered?

you can find more information on the website:

The conference is a two day course in cryptoeconomics. Unique aspects of Bitcoin are evaluated in the context of rational economic theory, with principles derived from the axioms of human action and time preference. Attendees should be familiar with the operation of Bitcoin, but no knowledge of economics is expected.

Content is based on Cryptoeconomics by Eric Voskuil, and organized in a logical progression across four sections. Eric will present theory, with market experts intervening to provide context. A moderated panel will explore multiple perspectives at the end of each day.

CryptoEcon avoids supposition, price speculation, cheerleading, demonization, and product or project pitches. The objective is for attendees to learn how Bitcoin works, not to be comforted about its potential.

topics are:

* Points of Failure
* Merchants and Miners
* Survivable Ecosystem
* Out of Control
* Operation at Scale
* Economics of Health Care
