Title: [ALERT] There is a Scam Happening Right Now on YouTube - Fake Exodus wallet Hack
Post by: phml on February 06, 2020, 04:21:21 PM
I follow a video editing channel on YouTube from a guy called Jack Cole. Recently his channel completely changed. The image and name were set to Exodus Wallet and they delisted all of his videos. He has more than 200k subscribers and now they are live streaming some fake promotional Exodus stuff where you click a link and go to a fake Exodus page where you are prompted to input your seeds.

Please help take this down immediately as some beginners might lose their money falling for the scam.

Here's the video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKcDKZHZP10

Here's the scam page: [DO NOT ENTER YOUR INFO HERE]  https://exodus.promo/

Here's a legit video from the original channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbnh8-T2wn4

If you Google "Jack Cole Video Editing YouTube" you will find the name of the channel is still Jack Cole but when you click it you see it's been hacked.

Probably sold accounts with a big offer. I noticed his old videos on playlist (https://www.youtube.com/user/ItsJuggHere/playlists) when checking them all are unlisted which is obvious that the new owner sold the youtube account for scamming purposes.

Exodus official twitter account from here https://twitter.com/exodus_io/ doesn't have a new post related about this video. Even their official youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/c/exodusmovement) is not connected to this fake video.

And the link from the live stream description possible a fake exodus website with a clone design of real exodus website.
If you check the website and click the connect it will ask for seed phrase backup which is not safe.

Already reported them directly on youtube and let's hope that this live stream will be removed.

I saw the previous hacked video not deleted but entered into the "Unlisted" list. And there have been many YouTube incidents with many subscribers getting hacked, I've read a number of articles, but I forgot the link, sorry :'( if it's like committing fraud like that, it will be very difficult to restore the channel and finally, it will be banned from YouTube.

These scammers are so damn sick, they keep on messing around. Almost every time I keep seeing news about new methods that scammers are using to scam people. I hope that no one falls for that their sick dumb move.

The last thing I’m ever going to do is enter my seeds on a random website. Even if I’m using Exodus, I still wouldn’t click on a link just to foolishly give out my seeds, because I know for sure that Exodus is a private wallet and they have nothing to do with my seeds, so they are never going to ask for it. Seriously hoping no one falls for this their foolish trick. I have even seen more foolish tricks laid on YouTube by scammers, sometimes they disable comment section so that people wouldn’t comment it’s a scam.

From a marketing perspective,it's pointless to promote a product to an audience that isn't interested in the product.Video editing has nothing to do with cryptocurrency wallets, like Exodus.
Un-listing his old videos means that he(or the new owner) loses a lot of organic traffic coming to his old videos.Maybe this guy's Google/Youtube account is hacked,or he really sold his account to some really dumb scammers.Dislike all the Exodus scam videos published by this channel, post in the video comments revealing this scam and report the videos to Youtube. There's nothing else we can do.

It just proves that scammers are capable on doing anything just to deceive and exploits peoples funds, they will continue on seeking for an opportunity to get the benefits they wanted. Scammers these days are clever and wiser, they can easily find a new approach whenever someone has busted their system and that is the reason why we should be more careful and mindful to avoid getting victimized. Let's just wait and see how they will fix the issue, I just hope that those scammers suffer the consequences of their actions.

Thanks for the warning. I try to be careful, but often the projects of scammers are similar to real projects.

Very often, the Google administration is accused of YouTube removing various channels, information and content without any explanation or justification for this.  I believe that this resource in various ways fights with scammers, at its discretion.  Indeed, YouTube is used by many scammers to deceive people, but anyway it is very difficult to identify them and prevent the leak of personal data and financial resources of many users.  I believe that all users should share their suspicions and allegations, with the provision of evidence, in order to eradicate fraud in the cryptocurrency user community.

These kind of scams are not new in YouTube. Such scams have been happening from 2018 and that was another reason why YouTube had suddenly closed all crypto based channel and after few hours reactivated them.

Basically scammers will approach a channel that has a subscriber base of more than 100k, they will offer the owner to join there revenue channel to increase their revenue using Google Adsense. They use the name of big AdSense revenue partner and create a fake website.

Now the owner of these channels are asked to input there registered email address and password used to login to their YouTube channel. Those who are intelligent will not enter it and those who do enter tend to lose their channels in couple of hours.

This how it is being done. Stay away from any crypto based offers on YouTube.

You get a warning site when you tried to go to the site in the description, of course, they turned off the comment section so people will not get warned this channel and video will soon be taken down I've reported it and I'm sure many do the same if you read and still online better report it as well.

Quite surprising that this "live" video actually appeared on my YouTube Subscription tab even though I wasn't even subscribed to whatever the channel the scammers used is.

Always remember to save the few seconds to report these "live" videos to hopefully lessen the damage.

The account is probably hacked as cyber criminals are moving to youtube now. You will see a lot of fake giveaways, using Vitalik's face of fake Binance giveaways, with video interview of CZ.

So just be careful with this new wave of attacks, we don't want to hear newbies here being victimised by this criminals.

Well going to the fake URL shows the following warning so that is a great start to minimise chances of users getting scammed: exodus.promo

Chrome also does the same  ;D

It's not just this one. Lot of fake giveaway video is available on YouTube. Scammers upload fake giveaway videos using  various well known companies. Editing and uploading video of company CEOs different AMA videos. I think scammers hacked channels with good subscribers, to promote this kind of scam giveaway. I've seen a lot of fake giveaway videos recently.
