Title: What would make you stop gambling?
Post by: l3pox on February 08, 2020, 11:21:55 AM
are there any things in life that would make you stop gambling?

the two things that come to my mind are:
- making enough or a lot of money.
- finding a passion (even relationshiprelated or life/activity related) that changes your priorities.

but can you see other things than that?

I think, the reason you have been given is the reason why I like gambling not the reason why I would stop playing . Yes gambling makes people rich or having much money but at the same time it will be a source of fun when you know how to make friends with co-gamblers , enjoying the challenges in casinos , finding new strategies and waiting game in lottery, for me there will be no reason for me stop gambling , not unless I find myself that I fall into addiction in gambling, but as much as possible I control myself, my spending and my emotion so that I will not be addicted to it.

Losing that much to a point that you cannot afford playing a game, and once you are in huge debt, I think are other reasons that would make a gambler quit playing. Some people would say that the bigger the loss is, the higher the tendency for a gambler to crave for a 'win', but it depends on the case. Gambling is an enjoyable activity but is ofcourse expensive especially if you are addicted into it.

Having another activity to do would also make me quit gambling. Persobally, I do gamble to kill time and I bet many people also do so. If there would be an activity that would replace the hours I spend in gambling, which would make me not to think of playing slots and baccarat, perhaps a hobby, I won't be surprised that I would be able to quit gambling.

But there is a possibility that one would be bored of doing the same thing for years; same routine, same lifestyle in each day. Nothing is permanent as they would say. So maybe, this would be one other way.

I think this is the only possible way for someone to lose interest in gambling. Some people doesn't gamble because they simply do not have any interest in it. The amount of money someone has doesn't really matter when he/she already has a gambler's mindset or has been involved/addicted in gambling. Some might slow down due to lack of funds but the urge to gamble is still there.

Priorities,
This is the only thing that would make any of us stop from gambling,
Of course there are some who would turn back from their priorities just to have fun and continue their vices.
When we have our priorities we would focus on it and we would avoid any other things specially if we don't have extra funds.

This question is for those who are very much into  gambling or those who actually making money from gambling but of rus who are here for entertainment and don't care about their losses and winnings we can always stop anytime when we have our urgent priorities, on vacation and important jobs that we need to attend to.

Making enough or a lot of money? Theres no such thing for most gamblers yet most of the time they would play more to ask for more.Stopping wont be on their vocabulary.
When you already get addicted to gambling finding for another activity wont really be that easy or diverting yourself into other thing. As long you do have money on your pocket,
the urge of playing gambling would be always there and quitting will always vary on someones self control.

Most of the time when we do talk about complete stop towards gambling is on when you do already facing up some consequences.

That would be my family but that would count under finding a passion but still, I want to earn a lot of money for that.

Ever since I am a high school, all I ever think about is my family. I want to help them so much that I beg my parents to just let me find a job after my graduation but they got mad and still sent me to college. I understand them but I really wanted to help them so much after what they've done so much to help me. When I got my job, I gave them my first pay, they really deserved it.

I am still gambling even though they raised me not to gamble at all. It is just a way for me to entertain myself, I will stop if I find way to earn money where I would be really busy and still enjoy it. As long as I am helping them in a way, that would really make me happy and that would even stop my gambling activities.

For me, diverting to other activities or habits is the best thing to forget for a while if you are addicted to gambling. Yet, there are many things to do but think it over what are those suitable in your habit. Do something that will completely different that you might overcome to a gambling habit. Just makes your life busy and try to set yourself new goals and tasks each day. Probably, you will be better able to cope with gambling urges when the right time comes. But you can fully be stopped with in a short period of time.

It is really hard to stop a gambling addict if he/she wants to decide to stop for his/her own good. If a gambler can't really stop then that person should see a specialist in mental behavior. Since I am not a gambling addict so I can stop gambling anytime. It is best that you don't have 100% access to your money so you can't gamble if you don't have lots of money in you. Try do something else so that your attention will be diverted on other things except gambling.

This is true, and I also experience the same situation when I'm too busy to gamble, or too exhausted, even if I'm not at work. I think people who are addicted to gambling have too much free time in their life. If they want to stop, they should seek challenging activities to keep their mind busy.

Responsible gambling is fine though, I might do it again when I have the time.

I think both are going to be my reasons to stop gambling. But isn't it good to gamble if you are making enough money? you can enjoy as much as you can because you will not have to worry about the money and you'll just have fun anytime you want.

But once you don't have time for it anymore, it will gradually stop you in gambling. Being a family man will make you put the things what's more important than gambling but if you're life was already on it, I don't think there's something that can stop you even those mentioned factors.

Gambling is not my passion so I can stop anytime when I Find another passion that can excite me better than gambling, could be a sport or another interesting hobby but between trading. doing bounty and gambling, gambling is my second priority because I knew in gambling I can never always win in every game I played, I prefer bounty campaign than gambling.

Maybe realizing how it affects a person's health and financial status. Gambling is fun and entertaining, but it can also have a negative impact on someone's life who doesn't know his/her own limitation. I know few people who changed a lot when they got engaged in gambling, it changed their mindsets and perspective when it comes to money. They just keep risking their money without even thinking the outcomes of their actions. Well unlike them I know how to control myself and I am aware of the possible consequences of my actions if I allow myself to get addicted in gambling but if ever I think realizing my situation will slap the reality inside me. It will make me understand how gambling changed my life and realize my mistakes.

Do not gamble.  It is a fools occupation as it is always made for you to lose your hard earned money.  I made 3 different fortunes and I never gamble.  The key is to create, not compete.

Making a lot of money didn't do it for me, i was just playing with bigger amounts because i needed those daily dopamine kicks.

Finding a passion on the other hand works in every area of my life, it keeps the gambling in check in the levels where it's still fun (at least it works for me). But this goes further then just in gambling, you need to find meaning and something to fill your time with to have a life worth living. Otherwise gambling is not a fun hobby anymore but just an addiction to kill that time.

A big no no for me and one more, how much is "a lot" for these gamblers :D.

You know that people doesn't have contentment at all. One will make a target goal and once he reaches it, he will get another target goal again. People aren't contented with what they have so this "lot" that you are saying is infinite. They will always find for another way to make more money until the time will come that they will lost all of their money.

- finding a passion (even relationship-related or life/activity related) that changes your priorities.
Maybe this will help the gambler to stop gambling but it will take time and patience.

Aside from time and patience, his relatives will be needed in this because they will be a big help to how a gambler will stop. Travelling with his relatives or playing ball games or online games with them. It will help. Doing other things with other people will help too. Anything without connection to gambling will help him but it will take time.

Frankly speaking it will not stop me. I have experienced some big win in my gambling journey in the past but I still continue gambling till this day.

- finding a passion (even relationshiprelated or life/activity related) that changes your priorities.

It wont stop me as well. I'm married already and have a son but I still gambling. Simply because I love it but I'm doing it for entertainment only, means that I can stop it anytime then start it again as I want.
As long as I'm enjoying it then I wont stop gambling. Perhaps I can stop it once I hate it or I get bored with it.

yes, if you want to break a little and have some rest you need to stop for a little, then I think it will be good for you to have some new things to do or yes divert your attention so that you may stop for a awhile in playing gamble.

Gambling is not bad for health at all, not unless you will stop eating at the right time and start losing weight due to excessive playing and never stop thinking about that , that could make you stop playing it, play in moderation.

I know few people who changed a lot when they got engaged in gambling, it changed their mindsets and perspective when it comes to money.

Emotional control is essential and also the priority before engaging in gambling. Because as you gamble and reflect on the effect of the losses in the game, it should not affect how you live in a day. I know sometimes losses in gambling make us hard to move and be productive so that we tend to become lazy and think of that every time. Minimizing your losses in gambling starts with a practice of managing your money on how much you'll spend in a certain game. Also never ever try to gamble when you're happy, that will make you hyped and out of control.

Gamblers know that it is risky but still they continue to play with it because maybe they just want to relieve their stresses. That's their money so we don't have to do about it, we can just give them advice for them to realize things about gambling. Being addicted to gambling is a choice and not a mistake, so from the start, try to manage your money, your emotions, your time so that you'll never have a hard time gambling. Moderate gambling will help you to minimize your problems, in your home, work and family.

I think it would never stop. Even if I have a career, a passion or even if I have a lot of money, my gambling activity will never stop. It is not that I can't live without it, it is the one that shaped me to be me. I am addicted in the past, I think if that never happened I will not be the same person as myself today. Even if I grow old, I would surely be in my rocking chair using my laptop or mobile phone gambling online.

Oh well, I was thinking about quitting or when to stop gambling. Since I play for two purposes:
for fun and for gains.
If that two reasons I am holding has been deminished like it is not fun to gamble anymore and I am losing much that I think it isn't healthy anymore, then I think I should stop gambling by then. I know it's hard to say those things since we will go back and play but if we have determination to stop gambling, then we can.

I think for some of us, gambling is a part time effort, even if i win a million $, i would still continue to gamble.
I have to admit that the excitement i feel when my predictions comes to pass and the emotions that follows would make me not to stop gambling.

And note, when you are spending profits from gambling, its usually come with a sweet feeling.
NB: i like gambling, but i also gamble responsibly, please always do likewise, don't borrow to gamble.

Not everyone gambles for money. Some gamble just to have fun and enjoy different risks they are taking. They just accept their winnings as a form of reward. Even if someone earns a lot of money, you shouldn't be surprised if they gamble. If you go to a high stakes table in a casino, you will mostly find rich people playing over there who doesn't care much about the money they are about to lose.
Passion might help someone stop gambling (more like an gambling addict) if he manages to focus well on his passion during his leisure hours.

I guess the answer on this one is already been discussed and still been discussing in this thread How much money you need to win in gambling to stop gambling (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5200056.0), I hope this'll help :)

- finding a passion (even relationshiprelated or life/activity related) that changes your priorities.
but can you see other things than that?

This is the most wonderful reason that could save anyone from gambling addiction, but only few are taking the chance to find their true passion because they are addicted to much in gambling, thinking that backing out is too late if they are going to find another thing that could give them money. But lucky for those who never stop trying other things rather than forcing themselves to something which they are not.

I've gambled before, I got addicted for a while, but then lucky me I got bored of it, because it is tiring to lose your money every single day, and that is the exact opposite of what I wanted, which is to earn money. As of now, I am pursuing my career as a freelancer in every fields as long as I am making money out of it.

For time being i have no plan to stop gambling so this questions basically not for me but according to the people
in my country why they decide to stop gambling is not about how much money they earned because they says money won't satisfied them so although people have a lot of money but it won't stop them to gamble and i think this reason above could be the main factor that family or their relationship will became their main priorities above gambling

I am gambling as my past time only so what in mind if I were to ask what makes me stop gambling are these scenario.

* If I will decide to stop it, I can stop gambling anytime as I am not addicted to it or will be addicted to it in the future.
* If I will be bored to gambling especially if I am not winning anymore as I am very unlucky in terms of gambling and I already lost a big amount of money to it.
* If I will have no time for gambling anymore, like I will be busy with my work then in day off I will be busy with my family.

That two reasons above are the main reasons why a person stops gambling, but in my own opinion, the reasons why a person becomes addicted to gambling can be the reason too to stop them. For example, slot machine players may gamble to win money, for enjoyment and excitement, to socialize, and to escape negative feelings. As people progress from social to regular and finally to excessive gambling, there are often significant changes in their reasons for gambling. So one of the purposes of the person why they are gambling is to earn money and enjoyment, and once they don't feel that anymore, then they will going to stop gambling.
Before I was addicted to gambling, I am happy playing it because, most of the time, I win the game. But my excitement and enjoyment of gambling changes because of some priorities, I realized that I am already adult. I need to explore myself in other things, so I stopped it, and I focused on my studies, my part-time job, and my relationship. It feels good to expose yourself to other things than gambling.

Always put in your mind that gambling is not a kind of source of income, in that way, you will realize that gambling is for an only fun activity and not just for money. Quitting in gambling is not easy, just like to quit smoking you can't overcome quickly. You will not end up quitting if you know how to control your self from the start. Nevertheless, if that is too much worst addiction, seek support from someone you feel you can trust and ask advice.

Right, I agree with those two reasons. Another thing may be due to the responsibility for his own family, because day by day more and more costs will be needed for daily living needs and other bills, it will make you do not have enough money to gamble if you only gamble with money can be spent. The second reason is that when you are born into a religious family it is very possible that your thinking will change over time, because we know that someone who is religious will consider gambling to be a bad thing to do.

Whenever I gain profit from playing and I already regain my capital I will instantly stop. Although, it's hard to stop if you already earn profit still we need to control ourselves or our eagerness to earn more profit because it might end up losing entire funds. Yet, we should be more responsible for playing so we can control ourselves if we going to stop. Aside from that, once you already earn profit maybe try to stop or try to withdraw the profit that you have gain then play again, and if ever the funds that you left got lose maybe that time is the time to stop playing.

Not everyone gambles for money. Some gamble just to have fun and enjoy different risks they are taking. They just accept their winnings as a form of reward. My all intention when I play gambling is to enjoy my time when I'm bored and I just play for fun and nothing more. But now, I just focus on doing trading than gambling that's why I limit myself when spending money on it.  For me, it's better to risk my money in trading rather than risking it on temporary happiness which is gambling. Some people have a passion for playing gambling but still, you need to manage it because all your money is in high stakes.

I think this reason is why many people are keeping on playing gambling, why do we keep our heads the first place into betting, to begin with, and sometimes because of this people tend to become addicted to it.

- finding a passion (even relationshiprelated or life/activity related) that changes your priorities.

Well, many people look at gambling as their passion that is why some people are giving them the moniker of professional gamblers even though there is no professionalism in playing it, well maybe just a hustler in the game.

I think for me the thing might turn me away from gambling is

- if I am not winning anymore
- I am not getting any profit on what I am doing
- or a person gets broke because of it

I think a much negative reason we can add on and on that involves gambling into it.

Personally, I agree that our family was the most powerful thing that you can think of to shake of this gambling addiction. If you are the kind of person who loved his family then this is the perfect reason to get out of this industry. Gambling addiction harms everyone surrounds you and even for yourself and to leave this behaviour you could have either ask for some help or turn it over in other recreational activities. Honestly, gambling isn't bad especially if you are just using it as for fun but as a source of income, it would be different.

Or you could say that it as well as if your money wasn't enough anymore to gamble (meaning you're bankrupt or out of money). There are many things that can stop a person on gambling and that is when to the point you have to tradeoff and all of that was for good; it may because you have done to make enough money to live for or stop because addiction put you through and rehab and other priorities rather than just gambling to focus on. Not that I experienced these but as I've read a lot of same stories and even encounter real people with the same problems these are mostly the things they consider stopping it.

When i almost lost my family, when there comes a time that i become addicted and my wife almost lose me,the laat time she talk to me saying i better choose between my kids and her or my gambling addiction, that is the main reason i need to stop gambling

But now as i am a new person ?i can just play and bet with moderation and with my wifes consent ,sometimes we even play together.
In my own personal opinion, a love of family is not enough to stop a person from being addicted in gambling because there are some people who doesn't care any of their family members that they are being selfish, that is why rehabilitation services is some ofher ways to help a gambler to stop playing.

If you are addicted to gambling!!You can stay away from gambling when you don't have the money and You can return when you have the money!!! ;D And I think the only reason we steer clear of gambling is desire, If the desire is available it will be easy to get away and if there is no desire it can not move away. >:(

What would make me to stop gambling on temporary basis :
  • Power outage
  • I was busy with my daily activities
  • I was busy while trading alts
  • Terrible internet connection
  • Wife asked me to accompany her for shopping

For sure i will stop gambling.

The point : always makes your head and brain busy, it will stop you to hold a dice, cards and its kind.

are there any things in life that would make you stop gambling?

the two things that come to my mind are:
- making enough or a lot of money.
- finding a passion (even relationshiprelated or life/activity related) that changes your priorities.

but can you see other things than that?

Stopping from gambling has nothing to do with money even if you have all the money in the world if you are very much into gambling you will still gamble, it has something to do with priorities if you realized that there are immediate priorities that you need to address, then you can leave gambling but you need a strong will to do that.

Definitely there are other things.Important one going bankrupt will make you to stop doing gambling. ;D

I do agree with the point one but anyone in the world will be contented with what they making definitely no they still want more and more even the richest person in the wolrd has that mindset so people having intention of making money have less chances to stop gambling even if they won big amounts.

Seems like get a lot of lose would make me stop to play gambling if I'm a gambler because so far I'm not a gambling addict in my side, I just play gambling when I had money and I need some entertainments.

So, I will feel how gambling addict is and that is my way to go out from gambling environment. It can be made as a detterent effect to thinking a loud when I wanna play gambling again.

Well, why I will stop gambling since that is my habit. As long as I know how to limit my self from being addicted perhaps I am fine with gambling. If your passion was on gambling and you have enjoyed it, there's no problem if you will continuously gamble just for fun and for your self as well. There's nothing wrong with gambling, the big mistake is on us as a gambler and we manage with this.

It actually depends on a person because we can say that there are really some people who really don't stop gambling even if they need to, even if they are kept on losing money they are still playing the game because that is actually what they want, not to lose money but to play. Their passion for playing gambling is active. Being addicted to a particular activity is sometimes bad but the only thing you can do about them is to support because nothing can stop them from playing but their own self.

That is the common thing that can happen why people are stopping gambling because they are being bankrupt and they do not have enough money to play anymore. But I can say that the end is because they lose money, what if they gain again some money and try again to play some gambling to try making it big. Right? The mindset of a gambler cannot be changed. To play and to win.

When I get spare time, I play a few rounds of dice on my phone, or bet on my favorite sports using my favorite sportsbook.

It wouldn't take much for me to stop this, as soon as I can find a similarly fun activity to occupy my time, I'll just do that instead.

No biggie.

Not a big thing for those people who doesnt care too much about gambling activity but there were lots who do have this kind of problem where they cant throw out easily their gambling activities into other more important thing. We do have on the same foot when it comes to gambling where i can stop completely if there were things that can caught my attention which i wont need to gamble again.
I wont let myself come to the situation where i do stop because i dont already have some money to play. Things should be on moderation and in control if we dont like to mess things up.
As long you do know to control and sensible to your actions then it doesnt matter if you do play yet its our money and time to be spent.Stopping should really be done easily according
to your likes yet this do signify that you arent that hooked too much on gambling which is a better thing among all.

Having not enough money to play with is another option I think? If you don't have anything that you can bet I think it would make you to stop playing isn't? well it's an addiction if you can't stop something and it would really difficult for a person to take it out from his/her system.

But I think the best way to stop gambling is what you've said finding a passion or focus into something that would take you away from gambling in my case instead of playing real gambling i prefer playing a gambling games (with a fake money of course) or some online games.

- making enough or a lot of money.
I doubt if this can make someone stop gambling. You know people always greedy, it is the fact, so don't deny it. When they can gain money from gambling, they will focus on it as it is worth to do. Moreover, if they can gain big money, I am pretty sure that they will gamble more often.

In my opinion, someone can stop gambling when they are aware that it is not all things to do in their life. They have another thing to do as a priority. For example:
- Someone prefers to focus on their career in real life.
- Someone needs more time to socialize and gather with family.
- Someone feels that he is going to be addicted more if he doesn't stop it.

You'll stop gambling if you think about the future of your family, and making enough money won't be established in gambling because you're prone of losing such money. Priorities will always be associated with gambling, and if you prefer not to stop it will eventually destroy the relationship between you and your family. Most cases I heard, that if there's no enough time to take care of the family, respect and love will be gone entirely.

That would be the key for every gamblers to stop but the sad reality is there still gamblers who got broke and family separated due to this addiction and maybe if we see people can't stop this even if they say they want to stop then best to bring them on psychiatrist or any professional help so that they will be helped for their addiction and they can regain back their  healthy lifestyle.

This is a tough one, and for me it wold be several things such as extermination of the internet, homelessness or health related illness which would debilitate me in such a way that I couldn't gamble. These are all things that one hopes will never have to come to, so in that respect gambling can be regarded as an addictive commodity rather than an absolute necessity :-[

The key point is the addiction case. If someone is getting addicted to gambling, his family or the closest person to him should remind/wake him up. Usually, an addicted gambler isn't aware that he is already addicted to gambling. So, he needs another person to realize him about the fact. And if it is needed, go to a psychiatrist or any professional help as you said above.

People changes over time in many ways, their interests and hobbies, the things they are practicing everyday and such. And, I thought of other thing that could stop someone in their gambling hobbit or addiction, it could be about their career or their goal in life. Once in a while a person would think about what he would do in the future, what would be his life when things changes. A good person would do that, and would come up of something to make up for it. People cannot live by gambling for all their life, they would surely think about settling in life, be happy and contented.

With deep emotional reason can help you to stop gambling, there should be a strong reason about why you want to stop gambling but it is not easy to achieve specially if you stuck in addiction. Proper counseling can help you to stop gambling but commitment is still rewuured because you will never quit without it. I became addicted also in gambling but I overcome that challenge in my life because I have commitment to stop that kind of addiction.

I just play because I wanted to, maybe the pressure in the past to myself because I want to help my family and my wife at that time that is why I entered myself into gambling. I also reflected on this and I think if I have enough money for my wife, if I see them so happy, not looking at money as a problem, I think I could consider myself stopping. Right now, I can't do that, everything has their own process and time.

Perhaps, we stop gambling because we are tired of seeing the loss that we always get in gambling. We want to break out from gambling to see if we have a chance to make money from other ways. But that is not happening to many gamblers since they still gamble even if they lose.

The other thing that might help us to stop is because of family. When we care with our family, we will try to do anything to see our family can feel better without thinking about our problem in addicted to gambling. We will work hard to solve the addiction because we want to be a better person for our family.

Those two are not the only things you should consider for you to stop gambling. If ever the time came wherein the loss is higher than the gain, you should see it already as a sign to end your involvement in gambling. If you are fortunate enough, on the other hand, gaining sufficient rewards from gambling which can secure your future should also be seen as a sign to quit gambling and start settling your life in motion. You can try pulling out a business with the money you made to secure your future more.

I don't think so, because when you come to the point that you have so much money that it will not valuable to you if you lose them, you'll don't care about it. But in some points, instead of losing your spare money to gambling, you must donate it into a charity because they really need some financial assistant. Help our society and stop gambling, it will surely help yourself to not get addicted and minimize wasting your money. Money isn't easy to earn so let other people benefit it in a good way.

Minimize the time you spend in gambling and prioritize some other things that will really make you enjoy life and your money. Spend your money on your family, friends, business so that your money will not become useless. Gambling is not a source of income but it can relieve your stress, and there are more things that can be an alternative for you to become stress-free.

Minimizing the time you spend on playing gambling is one of the steps on stopping and reducing the addictiveness on gambling, I was once a gambling addict and decided to reduce my activity on the gambling scene, Redirecting your focus to other things greatly help you, It works fine on me. The result is I don't find a way to play gambling games now and I will only play when there is nothing to the, It obviously came down from my priority things to do every day to my last thing that I will do for a day.

I've experienced having a good life and realizing the time I lose on playing gambling, The stress I got before from playing gambling were also reduced, Playing sometimes can is for me entertaining, It's a lot entertaining if you play it for a while than playing it everyday.

Maybe even I gain more money in gambling I did not stop because I know how to handle my money and my limitation . Even I find my passion it is not the reason to stop. But for the people who are very addict playing better to lessen or mandatory to srop before everything gones like in other gamblers who spent all their money they have.

I know stopping gambling is one of the crazy and hardest to stop but minizing playing is the alternative solution if you cannot stop because of your desire to win and to enjoy. I know that because I also like that but now I play only few time a week not everyday.

Non of those things you mentioned are even in the picture when I consider things that could take my mind off gambling. Making enough or more money might just increase my addiction level since I will now have more time to spend doing nothing and obviously it might result to be engaging in some gambling activities be it for monetary gain or for pleasure.

Putting my family first is all that matters to me, currently I'm not yet married and non of my direct relations like parents and siblings are aware of my gambling activities. Assuming they find out and I'm supposed to choose between them and gambling, it simply means I'll have to quit, same fate applies to my wife (when I do get one).

Curing addiction is not an overnight process as it requires tremendous effort on both your family and to yourself as well. Everything stems from the mind of a person who is willing and determined to change his habits and get past the phase of your toxic environment.

I know some of my friends who were hardcore gamblers but they soon stopped once they realized that they had obligations to meet. Most of them were fathers who their family rely on and some were just normal individuals like us. What I am saying is that, if we are really determined to meet our goals, then we need to work hard for it.

The second point of finding a passion would be most effective. Majority of us who gamble do it only many a times to escape reality, to escape that boring shitty same life. I mean, if I was Elon Musk, I wouldn't need to resort to gambling to escape my reality because my reality would be too good :P so yeah, that's what I think of it.

Yes, but at some point, it is not effective to everybody. Gambling addiction is like having a cancerous disease in my analogy or explanation, because it has different levels, let's say the max level would be at level 4. Let's give a scenario for some explanations about this, let's say that there is a guy who is so addicted in gambling (level 4) and he tried to minimize his gambling habit for a week, what would be the result, well, the more addicted you are, then you minimizes it, the more thirsty you will become to gamble even more, so it is not helpful at all.

Maybe it will work to those people who are not yet on the peak of the addiction in gambling, let's say level 1-2, 3-4 needs rehabilitation to be saved and some proper medication.

I think the latter will make me stop gambling money will not stop you from gambling in fact it will encourage you the more, but if you have a much-needed priority that you need to address asap then it will make you stop gambling but only from definite period of time and not permanently unless you resolve strongly that you will not gamble again.

Exactly! Maybe the gambler will be lacking of money but still if they are interested on it he will find ways to be engage on it again. Sad part is that if he become a gambling addict to the point that he can hurt others to play. As gamblers, we should be resonsible and we should keep in mind that we are doing it for fun and not to the extreme that we intend to do illegal things or harm someone.

I stopped playing gambling but I realize I don't need that because all I need is to play gambling twice or thrice a week not all the day of  the whole week.

If Im lucky enough to win a big money in gambling I'm happy for that but for stopping me I think it's very far from now because I want to play and to win and no exact money to satisfy me the important is that I enjoying playing and earning money just like the other gamblers . About in passion I have a lot of things to do or activity but gambling sometimes gives me relaxation.

But you still uncotrolled playing gambling better to find a way to force you to stop gambling because it can destroy your life if you addict gambler.

Actually in my case I have been there before in which I have been stop my gambling addiction just because I entered on a serious relationship and this is kind of serious topic in which my girlfriend tend me to stop gambling so even it is so hard to stop on playing and gambling I need to stop it in any matter although it is so hard for me because it is already my passion and just because I love this girl I have been able to stop it no matter what happens. That would probably one of my biggest decision on how I have been able to stop and overcome my gambling addiction.

are there any things in life that would make you stop gambling?

the two things that come to my mind are:
- making enough or a lot of money.
I don't think that this gonna work. There will come a time that such money in your hands wouldn't be enough, imo. May be our time allotment in some activities would increase up since, gaining income in gambling isn't a top priority anymore. Well, may be in some cases though but I don't think that this gonna work to everybody.

Quote
- finding a passion (even relationshiprelated or life/activity related) that changes your priorities.
but can you see other things than that?
IMO, we cannot change what we are, but we can change how we do things. So we can do some shift of activities in our leisure time to divert our attention out rather than spending much time in gambling. Hence, finding passion is a solid foundation we could offer to ourselves that would quite cover up our desires to go back into gambling space.

Yes gambling makes people rich or having much money but at the same time it will be a source of fun when you know how to make friends with co-gamblers
Doesn't make sense to be honest because gambling never makes people rich first of all unless you are talking about casino owners because I cannot imagine anyone apart from casino stake holders earning from that casino/gambling website. Secondly you said we make friends in gambling, look let me tell you facts - Gamblers have the least number of friends in my honest view and those whom we call friends online in gambling are none but somehow we relate them with our profits.

not unless I find myself that I fall into addiction in gambling
I really hope you are not addicted but most of the people who are into addiction for gambling never realize that and only feel it once they have lost too much to be realistic.

Well, I can't see what will make me stop or quit gambling because, gambling for me is just for fun, not for financial gains. I started with poker game from my elder brother, back in those days, I got yo know how to gamble with financial priorities exclusive. Although, am not addicted to gambling but just love gamble.
Its really hard for you to stop gambling because it is running in your blood already.

Your family is gambling and you got what they are doing too but its just good that you can control yourself. You know that gambling is just for fun for you. Just don't spend too much on it. If you are having fun in gambling then as long as you have enough money then go and gamble with moderation :).

Today one of the best things to do when you have a leisure or free time is to play gambling today many people went into a gambling house or casino just to satisfy their desires to play and also the developer make a website and application that the people do not need to go outside their houses just to play games and most of them are now playing everywhere just if they have free time. Many people have a lot of reasons why do they make gambling some of them are just looking for fun, but most of the time there are people who want to play because they want to earn extra money with the help of the gambling. In playing gambling it tests the luck and skills of the person because sometimes there is a chance you will win a game or lose it, still even they lose a lot of money they still want to play. After all, there is an unexplained reason behind it that can't stop to play. Playing gambling can make you happy and earn a lot of money but it does not help to your self, money, and family better to stop for a while and think first which is more important to you right now

The thing that will make me stop gambling is if i'm losing straight and the amount I allotted for gambling is zero. Gambling can be a dangerous game thus I made sure I only spend the amount I can afford to lose and as much as possible I'll control myself to not go beyond it to avoid addiction.

Well, that doesn't stop most people gambling at all. Most people simply refill their balance and continue, so I doubt you would be any different in that case.

So realistically, that's not going to stop anybody once they're bored and want to continue playing.

I think only a dramatic loss would do that, but that doesn't happen to that many people—only idiots that wager large amounts with low win odds.

If you see gambling as entertainment and progress in this way, I am sure you will not need to stop gambling. One should not see this place as having to win in order to live. If we do this, we can stay in a very healthy gambling.

Only one thing, zero balance without money for re-buy, to be completely broke! But I hope that will never happen to me! Only some big, terrible tragedy can ruin me financially, other than that I fell myself pretty safe, I don't spend too much, I know my limits, I have regular income and some saving, so for now I am fine, I don't plan to stop gamble!

One cannot make enough money to stop making more,  it is about personal decision and discipline, crazy gamblers will make money outside gambling and still gamble with it.
Relationship can actually change one,as in bring one out of the gambling by influence, so also passion can drift one out of it.thats if the passion is not what one gamble around. I don't actually gamble so I don't think of stopping.

Greediness if being controlled will allow you to stop after winning huge amount of money, while having good alternatives such as healthy relationship of activities that can divert your attentions also is a good way to stop. Most of the time it's your own will that will let you go and quit away from this business, gambling is entertaining but if you lose control it will harm you so best to think of other sources of entertainment to move you in stopping your gambling interest.

I also believe that the person to stop doing something, and do not even think about it - be sure to devote himself to other activities.
Find something else you're interested in other than gambling and try to succeed in this, take all your energy in that direction. And over time, you will notice that it is not only a good way to escape, but maybe this can make money, unite your family and make it stronger.

And most importantly, do not procrastinate. Do it right now.

Even those like you who love gambling must have that one thing that could stop them from gambling. For some it would be a spouse, for others sickness, for some other people lack of money that would make them count every penny.

I'd stop gambling if I ever felt addicted or after losing a big sum of money.

Family. This is the reason I think I should stop from gambling when I already have my own family because I should spend more time with them and I should not waste any money because I will become a provider now. There’s a lot of thins to consider and if you are a desperate gambler, you can do it but if not then at least limit yourself from playing too much and focus on the things that are more important than money.

There is no need to find ways stopping gambling if you are not a addicted or irresponsible gambler because i believe that what gambling can give is more than enough happiness and satisfaction if you are a self controlled person.
Those people that needs to be stopped are those whos on the edge of losing their family and life because of not good treatment in Gambling habit.
For me?just play enough money and time, enjoy your world with friends while trying luck to win.

If you did a huge mistake then there's a possibility for you to quit gambling. My purpose of gambling is just an entertainment, you shouldn't gambling for profit only because if you have many loses, that will keep you to play the game to get back all of your money.

Just be responsible enough and you will not get to the point that will you will stop gambling due to many hard problems.

Other than those two, getting limited hard by the casino, supports closing my account, increasing the minimum bets and eventually having KYC are some of the possibilities that could stop me from gambling. I've already experienced the first two on different sites it stopped me temporarily (for a few months) then came back after they fixed the issue.

Of course, but will people quit from gambling just after did huge mistake? For example, lose your family/real-life job because of a huge debt. I think people don't quit for these reasons, they should be aware of the risks and know the limit.

Whatever the purpose is okay as long as you know the risk and limit. Most people seem to gamble for money, so we don't deny that gambling is for profits. If you just gamble to entertain yourself, it is no problem. But I doubt many people do as you did.

It depends mate, if that people do realize the things he should prioritize after that incident whether he lose his job or someone who's part of his family, maybe that would be the reason for someone to stop from playing.

Not most, everyone is playing for the same main reason. Even if most people tend to say that their are just playing for fun, I don't believe that they actually just playing without eagerness to win. I don't think that people will just throw their money in a gambling house while having fun.

People who earn a lot of money in gambling crave more. No one who even had hit a jackpot stopped from gambling, but instead they want to play more, either to tust their luck again or to satisfy their lust in gambling.

The second one also would not help, I know a lot of gamblers who had a good career, a great family and this doesn't keep them away from gambling.

The only one who can stop you from gambling is your self. Your determination and your persistence to stop gambling. No hobbies, accomplishment in gambling, or even money can make you stop. It is all up to you.

Yes, those two you mentioned would be on my list. If I win a lot of money, I'm stopping straight away and then find a good opportunity and invest the profits. That said, here are other reasons that might prompt me to stop gambling :

3. If i exhaust my funds set aside for gambling, I would stop. or if I incur too much losses, I might just decide to stop it altogether.
4. If I get another endeavor that can help with my bills – A job or business. I see gambling as a hobby/side hustle and shouldn't be placed as a priority earning endeavor.

Agree. That's the fact and all people must admit it. People who win something must be interested to win again and again. It is also the same in gambling, when a gambler can get some money from gambling, it motivates him to play more. I don't deny it since I also do the same way, but never gamble blindly and forget what I can afford.  :D

The only one who can stop you from gambling is your self.
Exactly. But to find the reason to stop in gambling is not an easy thing. Sometimes it comes suddenly or just happens once you think to have more time gathering with your family and others. Or when you commit to leaving it because of someone's advice.

That is right. The family will be the most reason for gamblers to stop gambling. If they always remember with their family, they will have control over their mind, and they will not spend too much money if they gamble. They will have the power to stop themselves from playing gambling games so that they can help them to leave gambling places.

But some gamblers will not remember their family, and they even think that if they still play and they can win the games, they can help their family to get a better life. That will not be a good decision to continue gambling because they should know that they cannot always get the win in the gambling games, but they will lose their money.

I also have a couple of things in mind for me to possibly stop gambling. One is when I become dirt poor -- although God forbid -- that I could not even afford to spend a loose change for it. Two is when I grow very busy over so many things that I could not afford to spend time with gambling. However, both are apparently not going to happen. Right at this very moment, I am not a regular gambler but I don't think I will ever quit from it altogether. My country is a gambling country and it is very hard to avoid it if you find fun in it. Hell, we even gamble over spider fighting.

Money cannot stop me from gambling in fact more of it is a temptation to gamble more, relationship and commitment are the two things that can commit you to stop gambling, it will change your priority but you cannot drop gambling right away there is a slow process for this, it's like a habit you can get over it by slowly.

Only few people can do this and they can survive because being creative and innovative, money not always become their purposes. Most people will stop gambling when loss all money and could be involve with financial criminal, but as long they have fund and dream, gambling still become their priority. For me I see many people lost in gambling more easy than trading, they get stress and always talking about winning that they never get. I just don't want in that position, realistic still become my basic thinking.

i support that mate that relationship and commitment may help us stop gambling but why need to stop then?when those reason can also help us control or manage our gambling activities more safer and enjoyable?
we can play with our love ones and just become happy limiting your amount of money to risk/also can become our bonding moment?like my cousin that they both playing husband and wife in casino because that's the way they bond when having time.until now that's how gambling treated by them.

There’s a lot of thins to consider and if you are a desperate gambler, you can do it but if not then at least limit yourself from playing too much and focus on the things that are more important than money.

The problem is that not all of the people who gamble are family oriented, that is also the reason why most of them are having a hard time making good decisions in their lives. Especially if you are living alone, trying to support yourself, you're going to find sometimes you, looking at the emptiness, wondering a lot of things, and if you are a gambler, this is the moment where overthinking will make it even more hard.

So as your solution to that problem, you will start playing gambling to kill some of your free time to entertain yourself, to have a distraction for a while, it's just keep on repeating.

I would strongly disagree with this point. There is never a amount of money that one would be satisfied with because if ever there was such a amount that would satisfy people enough to not think about earning then surely the likes of Warren Buffet and Bill Gates would be sitting idle in their house.

I agree that when we gamble we always feel like if we win some certain amount, we would stop gambling once for all. But trust me being a gambler I have often reached such targets and the greed only increases.

The only way I personally see is - Find some hobbies, which you suggested as your 2nd option.

This one is somehow a valid reason for a gambler to stop playing. Example you gamble because you dont have responsibilities yet or having your own family, you're free to gamble because of not having someone to prioritize. But if you become a family man, most likely you will change your routine so instead of spending your money in gambling you tend to keep it for the welfare of your family. Well in most cases this is supposed happening but there are also gamblers who stay a gambler even having their own family to prioritize.

Of course there are some who would turn back from their priorities just to have fun and continue their vices.
When we have our priorities we would focus on it and we would avoid any other things specially if we don't have extra funds.
While you have a valid point but it'snot that easy. Money for all of us has always been the highest priority no matter what we say or do, that's the fact and gambling is directly related to making money even if it's actually ending on losing side most of the time.

Setting priorities can be helpful though as you mentioned, like a student should always give higher priority and preference to studies but that's actually not working for most of us, as the bitcoin community consist a huge number of youth members we do know that its the youth that gets addicted much quicker than the aged ones.

Your second reason will not make people to stop but it will push for less frequency than previously how they were doing. I believe people will gamble for entertainment reasons also will never stop regardless of your two reasons. But, I agree they may low-prioritize gambling which means they do gamble once in a while as they do have other passionate thing to engage themselves with.

I guess for an online gambler, moving to a remote place where only slow/no access internet and free electricity shout down kind of things may enforce stopping gambling as they cannot continue gambling like how they are enjoying in a city life.  For a physical casino visitor too, moving to some other place where no casino available kind of thing might work toward stopping gambling as long travel for the reason of gambling may not work in long term.

Setting priorities can be helpful though as you mentioned, like a student should always give higher priority and preference to studies but that's actually not working for most of us, as the bitcoin community consist a huge number of youth members we do know that its the youth that gets addicted much quicker than the aged ones.
I agree on your point regarding how easy to set aside priorities are when the call for fulfillment comes. Most people can just throw away whatever they have in their hands be it something more important than gambling. But that being said, I don't think it's a bad alternative either. As compared to conventional ways of withdrawal from gambling, keeping yourself busy is the most efficient. When you forget that you want to gamble, you don't gamble. And being busy does it best. So it's not just secluded into setting priorities, you can keep yourself from gambling through hobbies, work, greater plans in life, even business.

That's my take on this concern, along with a bit of an alternative if I do say so myself.

so many good resposnses to this topic
thanks for sharing your opinions here.

This is true, and I also experience the same situation when I'm too busy to gamble, or too exhausted, even if I'm not at work. I think people who are addicted to gambling have too much free time in their life. If they want to stop, they should seek challenging activities to keep their mind busy.

Responsible gambling is fine though, I might do it again when I have the time.

definitely, if tired or working too much makes no sense to gamble and this can develop into bad habits afterwards.

Yes we need to keep everything in order, to the lowest priority up to the highest priority if ever, we cannot say that all of us will make gambling to the lowest priority but we need not to give all our time to that, if we are not a full time gambler or professional gambler I must say that we need to arrange our time, we will not stop gambling all of you know that thing because we all want to earn money, but we need to stop when we are tired and continue losing many money.

If you earn a lot of money, then that could make you more greedy and getting a hunger to win. It won't make you stop instead will make you play further.
Greediness will lead to addiction or I must say that they are similar, and needed to prevent in order for you to have a good game , and if order for you to continue playing. Like what I have said, control everthing you can if you still want to play.

are there any things in life that would make you stop gambling?

the two things that come to my mind are:
- making enough or a lot of money.
- finding a passion (even relationshiprelated or life/activity related) that changes your priorities.

but can you see other things than that?
The problem with the first reason that you are giving is that you are making the assumption that those that are gambling are doing it because they want to earn a lot of money, if that was the case there will not be rich people gambling and we know that is not true, there are many people with a lot of money gambling and there are many that are gambling just because they like the activity and they are not looking to earn money.

But your second example is correct, if I changed my priorities then I could probably stop gambling, but since I only gamble once in a while I do not see the point of stop doing something I like.

I have personally seen people who make a lot of money from gambling but are increasingly becoming gambling addicts (not stopping gambling), and those who are already married and have many children but still gamble even though the intensity of gambling decreases.  so I think for those who have already gambled, the two things above will not be able to stop them from gambling (this is my personal experience too) :D

Even the gambling is addictive still its depend to the person if they become a gambling addict. For me there is no reason to stop gambling maybe i'll take a rest for a while then continue until I see my goal. Once i meet my goal then i think i should quit gambling, for me having purpose is make you lessen from being addictive in gambling.

Losing all your money is one compelling reason to stop. Gambling on debt would only make your problems worse. Having zeroed out would push you to rethink your decisions and might set you to another hobby as you say, and just change yourself, or accept your fate. Nonetheless, you should avoid going to that point and always self-control your gambling habits as you possibky could.

If the gambler involved is a moderate gambler, losing all money is indeed a compelling reason to stop. But I have to say this is easier said than done. Sometimes, when you are at the height of fun and thrill and you lose all your money, you might actually end up looking for ways to continue gambling.

I had personal experiences of betting even when I am already running out of funds. When lost, someone has to run quickly and make a withdrawal at the nearest ATM. Where I come from, gamblers would even end up betting their watches or even cars when their wallets are already drained.

That's too much of an addiction, it would already run ones life, I was once lose control in gambling but I never ended up doing that,... well, I don't have a car nor wear watch but the action to sell your valuable things just to gamble and try to win back your loses is already beyond unacceptable.

That's a disease that would result to living a disastrous life, it would be more serious of a problem if you have a family as it could affect them financially, you might have a job but you cannot concentrate due to gambling addiction and soon, you might also loss that job.

no there is not why?

because i have no plan stopping gambling ,there is no harm bringing me my gambling habit so there is no point of planning or looking on ways to stop doing this.

this questions applied to the people who is treating gambling as part of their life and the worst is using this to Make a living but what brings them is total destruction yet doing nothing.

if i were to become addicted?for sure i will seek for professional advice and help before things getting worst.

betting with items is only possible offline  but online you cant bet them directly but you can sell them first online if you want to or  if you know someone that can accept your items and asking for equivalent cash   . you said you gamble with zero balances only , that is good so that you dont come into your mind that you need to redepo to make a comeback  but others are doing a redepo not once , twice but i see someone doing 4th straight re deposits just to recover what he lost  .

I would stop gambling if I have other important things to do and if I find something that would take out my mind on gambling.
But right now I don't think that there would be something that would really keep me out of gambling.
I would also stop if I think that it is already affecting my personality if I am being violent or something because of it.

I know my priorities already and my passion right now and even I know that I still have a time to play gambling and Im still playing because Im happy to do that. The reasons why I stopped before playing gambling because Im addicted playing and I need to do that and Im happy because when I turn back I already know how to control playing and that's what Im doing right now.

No need to stop gambling if you are happy doing this but knowing your limitation is the key to prevent a big lost and high chance of winning is going to get .

Most people definitely stop on gambling after a very devastating loss. But the point of this topic is to find ways that would help you avoid that point of no return. We want to pull the weeds out before it grows. That being said, I think the best alternative is to keep yourself active. Do other things besides gambling like business. If you let gambling take your lifestyle, it's going to eat up on you in the process. Leaving you like an empty husk once everything is already done.

Gambling is a risky game wherein your money is involved. The probability of winning or losing with this is 50/50 but it actually depends on how you play the particular game, it depends if you are good at it. It actually depends on a person if he will learn for that particular loss or he will still play even if he is losing money. Because there are still people who are eager to win and to earn money. If you have self control maybe you can do that easily.
I would stop gambling if I have other important things to do and if I find something that would take out my mind on gambling.

This is one of the ways you can do when you already want to stop gambling but you can help it. Try to convert your interest into a different one so that your time and money spends for a good.

Doing other activities and not focusing your mindset into gambling alone will give you a good chance to stop this habit. Gambling for entertainment purposes and nothing else, knowing you limitations and find yourself other interesting activities such as sports or any group activities can melt any
bad effects of gambling around your brain-cells.

Actually, I think there are more moving into the debt zone when suffering from a devastating loss than quitters. I've got enough friends who have borrowed tons of money trying to get out of the hole they've buried themselves into, but unfortunately they lost that money too so now they're in deep debt.

Gambling is like a disease same as drug addiction. Once addicted it is quite hard to get out of the same until the person himself realise his situation and take necessary action. From my personal gambling experience I've lost much in a short term missing winning opportunities. By the time I tried possible ways to get back what I lost, but later on understanding the reality of having self control and the truth about gambling myself made my mind and limited my spending. This is how it is possible to get out of gambling.

Though, with personal choice, I have drastically reduced the amount of time I gamble, and so far, I am enjoying it.
However, in answering your question, if I where to be in that situation, then it will be my family. Family are everything, and seeing them in misery because of one's gambling life can bring so much sad experience. And I have seen so many people who quit gambling because it was hurting their family. I think it's the best.

Nothing can stop me from gambling 100%, at least reducing gambling from emotional to being relaxed and in control.

There are some things that encourage me to reduce gambling.
In my daily life.

1. Positive family drive.
2. Encouragement of closest friends.
3. From the mistakes I made, money ran out on the gambling table, without counting where it came from, so it was a disaster for me.

I sometimes think, if I can spend $ 1,000 a month on the gambling table, why don't I just invest or open a business for my family.

Maybe now I can at least reduce gambling, as I mentioned above.
All of that goes back to me, where I am going to live my life and my family, to the straight road or to the grim road.

Priorities is the biggest factor that can make people to stop in gambling. When people reaches their age in adulthood, their priorities will be changed and will depends on what they need for themselves. When they are in adolescence or maybe teenager stage, they have a lot of time and looking for fun so they start in gambling. I think there is no other things that will make other to stop gambling, well, maybe realization when they lose.

If you are within the limits then it is fine and if you gamble just for entertainment that is also fine, but if you develop the habit of gambling just to keep on making money then that would hurt you because you may get addicted sooner or later to this and may find it difficult to quit . But if you are in control and can quit if required then that is the good sign .

Lack of money.

If I lose all of my money, I will stop gambling. I'm not like the other gamblers out there who will find a way in order for them to have money that will be use for gambling. I stopped gambling already because I can't save any penny at the times where I gambled everyday. Now I can save more money because I stopped gambling.

Lack of money and at the same time, usage of money.

I agree lack of money is the reason why I stop gambling because its not easy to gamble when you dont have enough money to play. Also having lack of time is one of my reason to stop gambling because not all the time I can gamble because I have work to do, even gambling can give me profit still not good to depend on it because not all ths fime i'll win. I think its better to have time management to still continue gambling even if you have work to do.

Indeed, some gamblers still have good control not to make loans or maybe other crimes to have money to gamble. I personally never stop because of lack of money, because when I want to gamble, whereas I do not have money, then I will borrow money just to gamble but what happens, gambling with the money I borrow always gives good results and at least it is an experience that I experienced in the past. For now I have stopped gambling or rather reduced the time to gamble because indeed having other activities is one way for me to be able to stop gambling.

Family. Money. Reputation.
3 things that I can't leave.
I do not worry about a thing but if its my family I simply choose them. Someone could have a better reason but I do not make an exemptions when it comes to them.

Money. Its an obvious thing for all, no money, no bet, no play.

Reputation. I might get what I want here, be famous for winning or losing but still if losing I don't want to cause any trouble with my own reputation that I've invested and cared for a long time. If gambling will destroy it then I guess its not for me.

Simply winning big is not enough, there are some reason that I've said on the past the winning a money that I can live my whole life on a better way but know I've come to realize that it wasn't enough. Someone should think more. Not just for his/herself but the betterment of all in his environment.

If it already affects my family and my child. This is a serious matter like you need to put them first as your priority before anything else even it will cost your passion or hobby. Saying about having a lot of money, this will urge you to become confident and gamble more, you can play unstoppable because money is not a problem. So if those factors are affecting you personally, emotionally and your family is also the most affected one you need to man up and push yourself to stop or reduce it a bit.

1. Winning a big amount of money(temporary)
2.Losing a big amount of money (temporary)
3.Environment (temporary)

5.Discipline/own decision

The only thing that may stop me from gambling if all gambling sites vanishes but since it was impossible to happen, it is really hard to make it.
Though our family, friends, and relatives would like to stop us and yet, this is all just temporary. Being a gambler will certainly find a way to gamble especially when you are deeply addicted to it and especially when you know that you have luck in gambling.

That is why the number of gambling sites (online or offline) is growing. This simply means that many people are becoming a gambler rather than a badly quitters. And I don't think that many gamblers are supposed to end their life in gambling but rather to continue, maybe we could say as it's minimal spend time but not really that they stopping it now.

Sounds like you might have a problem if that is the case bro.

You shouldn't be so eager to play, to such a degree that it would stay the complete extinction of all gambling sites for you to stop. Doesn't that sound like a worrying mindset to you?

Maybe speak to a counsellor about that.

I doubt it, because having enough is not the reason why we want to stop gambling, sometimes gambling becomes our hobby, so even when we have that target money already obtained still , we play gambling and we will not stop it, but everything must be in control, and it cannot be abuse, so that it would be good for our emotional health as well, we can prevent to be addicted in gambling and can manage our wealth as well.

Many factors can say but not have money because people can loan it. People can stop gambling after get profit for retired or arrested by the law. Gambling is funny game involve money with high risk, when addict come nothing you can do and crime is the only solutions. You can gambling but not using daily need or saving money, be wise with your money and your future.
But, how long people will keep on getting loan? I believe running out of money must be the biggest thing for most gamblers to stop at some point. Getting arrested by the law must be an unique case hence we cannot consider that as a common one. Getting retired after making considerable profits will be possible for many gamblers hence might be one of the reason for few gamblers to stop.

But, to stop after big profit, you must be having very good emotion control because only if you are too discipline, it will be possible to stop gambling with profits. If we need to consider only common thing, most gamblers will be stopping because of lack of funds to continue. Getting busted is a common thing in gambling which could end some gamblers' gambling life.

Gambling is not everything to me. I can quit gambling anytime if I find some other good entertainment medium. But not everyone is like me. There are many who have become addicted to gambling. They simply cannot quit gambling. I have seen many people gamble on taking loans, when his money runs out. I gamble for entertainment. If you get any kind of big win then I will quit gambling.

the two things that come to my mind are:
- making enough or a lot of money.
- finding a passion (even relationshiprelated or life/activity related) that changes your priorities.

but can you see other things than that?
I do not really see any need to stop gambling, I have my gambling under control and I can stop whenever I want, after all I am not looking to earn a fortune with my gambling activities or anything like that, however if I earned a lot of money I will be very careful to not raise the size of my bets since as we know people have a tendency to bet more if they have more money and this can be dangerous if you do not really have a money management strategy that helps you deal with those issues.

Having kids would certainly stop me from gambling, that's why I don't have plans on having one. The financial bursen it will have on my shoulders would be extremely high that it will not leave any room for me to gamble anymore. Moreover, the time required to tend my business and take care of the kids would be pretty high, and it would be physically demanding as well so yeah. I guess I'm not for that kind of stuff and I'm just better off being a degenerate by myself ;)

You could also see children as an investment for your old days, they will help you to have a home and food while not working anymore. I don't know where you're living but in many third countries the only retirement plan of people is their children. So if it's just a question of money you should take that into account.

i respect your prerogatives mate and i can feel you, because having another obligation doesn't mean that we will be save our self from being a gambler so best way is to stay who you are and just let things happen in future.

and also i am just confuse why there is a need for stopping gambling?does this brings Virus that cannot be cured?or can kill us why there is a call for stop?i don't think there is such way because we can deal with gambling in our own discretion and if this will be to addiction then its our choice .

That is good if you can quit gambling anytime because we see that many people feel it is hard to quit gambling. They even getting deeper into gambling, and that makes some of them addicted to gambling. But many of us can stop gambling because of many reasons, and family will be one of many reasons. Some of them realize that playing gambling doesn't allow them to make money, and even their money is running out in the gambling table. I have already seen that some of my friends quit gambling because their family, their money, reduces a lot in gambling, and they have a dream to reach their goals.

In most cases, people will only stop gambling when they are addicted and they lose everything, or they are afraid of taking risk anymore.
however, there are people who really enjoy gambling, like me of course and being responsible in gambling is what you just need to enjoy, and maybe win.

The problem with some people is that they viewed gambling as a negative thing, so anyone who gambles are not in their sound mind,.. they should learn and be educated that gambling is not a problem here, it's being irresponsible in gambling will bring problem to gamblers.

thats possible for me  . i remember that time when i feel im addicted to gambling , i then stop playing gambling for some time and i back again but not addicted anymore  but there are some that i believe that cant stop anymore once they are on the addictive state . they only look for more ways to spice up thier addiction if they cant feel happiness on a normal addiction state  . they can only stop once they got caught in jailed for theft or if they died  but lets pray they dont end up here  .

Have enough money to stops gambling because the main reason why people are involved in gambling are they need money, gambling is the best way to get money once you gonna win. So many people are gambling in that situation. So they're have enough money I think they stop in gambling.

I don't think so.

It is true though that a lot of people are gambling for the money that they can get out of gambling, it is a high risk, high return situation. But if a gambler have a lot of money, there is no doubt that it will stop him from gambling. I think that could be the worse scenario especially if that gambler is addicted to gambling.

I agree with you when you believe in luck then you will play gambling then it is better because it is not addictive but really want to play gambling because of luck and I think it's fine there are no problems at all.
Playing gambling like that won't cause a big loss because you don't play every day because you only believe in luck one day.

Its good if early but we know that establishing or sustaining a good life in your young age isnt still stabilize which means there would be lots of things to be arranged first before
you do decide to go with marriage. We know that marriage life wont really be that easy if you dont able to arrange or plan it well.

If you do have goals on having that financial stability in life then it would be better if you do avoid gambling as much as possible.Dont spend too much on things
which arent really that needed.

I hope that after he can achieve the goals, he can stop gambling for a while to enjoy the win money. But I don't think that he can win in a short time because he needs to realize that luck will be the important thing in gambling. Yes, gambling can make money for us, but we need to be realistic that it is hard to win the games. We need to have luck, and if we get the chance to win, don't forget to stop because the tempting to continue the gambling will be big than before.

Priorities,
This is the only thing that would make any of us stop from gambling,
Of course there are some who would turn back from their priorities just to have fun and continue their vices.
When we have our priorities we would focus on it and we would avoid any other things specially if we don't have extra funds.

This is the same thing that could stop me from gambling. I might also stop gambling if I already have a priority and if I wouldn't have enough funds to gamble. I have set goals in gambling but having priorities and responsibilities might push me away from playing especially when gambling is already affecting my life negatively. However, if we'll know how to handle things well, we don't have to quit gambling right away.

To keep your words, you must not have got addicted to gambling because an addicted gambler will not bother about their responsibilities and any other prioritized works, they treat gambling as the high prioritized one. I am sure that every gambler to keep on gambling for considerable period of time, definitely get addicted but not severely from the beginning but in slow progress. So, staying away from gambling might help you to focus on your priorities and responsibilities. Just a friendly advice from my own experiences.

People who get into gambling as the beginners keep do priorities and responsibilities regularly but they slowly change their order of priority which will end up gambling as the first one. I feel that is the severe state of gambling addiction.

Some gamblers that want to secure profit will not allow those profits to be recovered by the house. So the tendency, they stop and spending the profit for something better and keeping the capital that they've used.

But there's also the spirit of being confident that you either continue to win more which makes every gambler to have that intense feeling. And it results to gamble more and it's a 50/50 on our ends and it will definitely make you stop only if you have nothing anymore.

Realistically, it wouldn't take much to stop me gambling.

Give me $10,000 and I'll never touch another casino game again. Give me $100,000 and I won't even make casual bets with my friends!

Give me $1 million and I'll start looking both ways and stop gambling with my life.

I think people who addicted to gambling actually can stop gambling, but they need to do with hard because the addicting to gambling will try to keep them from playing gambling more and more. I realize that it will not easy because they need to have self-discipline, and they need to struggle by themselves to stop gambling. Once they can stop gambling, they will realize that they can do that, with or without other people helped. So yes, self-discipline and controlling ourselves will be needed to stop gambling.

but only if you are a responsible person because nothing will change if the attitude is just like for what will please you and not to pleases others.

I have a similar situation, with the only difference being that after my balance drops to zero I make several deposits,
and only after the balance of these new deposits also drops to zero I stop playing.
Of course, this does not happen so often, however, I noticed certain patterns.
In particular, it all depends on in what emotional state I sit down to play, and on how successful the first hour of the game session is.

Priorities over gambling but if gambling is your priority then there is something wrong with the you as a gambler.

There are some gamblers there who have a lot of money but they are spending most if not all of it in gambling. There are some gamblers who doesn't have self discipline and if they are winning, they choose to play until they lost all of their money. Gambler will not stop gambling until they don't have money. That is for me best way for a gambler to stop from gambling.

Priorities is one too yes if you don't prioritize gambling and you prioritize your family, other things etc. and another one is a gambler will stop if they don't have money anymore.

It's not also my attitude to ask money so that I can gamble. I'm more than happy to gamble with my own money because I know how I got it and I can do whatever I can with it.
I'll stop also if I don't have budget to gamble anymore. It is a sign that there's no need to continue and stop for the moment when there's nothing left anymore.

Yeah if someone wants to keep gaming then nothing can stop the gambler but if you are not happily gambling then a miner loss can make you stop gambling. A gambler will always find a way to keep gambling. Most gamblers lose hope after losing once. A gambler is gambling for fun then the fun can be taken in any way no matter how much you have to pay.

There are so many reasons for me to stop gambling, and for sure, to all of you too. I just want to share my main reason why I stopped gambling is because of my girlfriend; she always mad at me when I come home from the casino. We still fight because of that thing, to the point that she left me alone, we broke up, and that is the time when I realized how I love here, so I changed my lifestyle, I stopped gambling, and I court her again. Happily, we became in a relationship, lesson learned, so if you really love your friends and your partner, distance yourself from gambling.

Priorities,

Well, that is true. If we know how to prioritize things, then we might stop being addicted to gambling, there are so many productive things that you may do aside from betting. If you feel like you are being addicted to gambling, then you may go back and think about your priority in life. Consider all the people around you that may affect when you turn into addiction in gambling.

If that were accurate then all of those that are rich will not gamble, having money is not a protection against your gambling tendencies, if anything a person that has a lot of money has a lot of risk of becoming addicted to it as at the beginning they will not feel the losses they are incurring as they have so much money, but when they begin to feel them they will have even greater of feelings of regret and will try to chase their losses with devastating effects for themselves and their capital.

Quite contradictory views  :)
It seems to me that most casino visitors are rational and play primarily for the sake of adrenaline and entertainment, and not for the sake of earning. We think that there are many "sick" on theme of gambling only because their terrible examples are very vivid and cause a strong emotional reaction.

Money is the main reason why people gamble. If it wasn't for gambling, casinos won't be a booming business in our time.
People see it as a way to change their life where they won't be able to achieve just by working hard.
Even people that have a lot of money still gamble for the purpose of enjoyment so I don't think even I will stop gambling if I have a lot of money.
Yeah so basically what thing could stop a gambler is losing the money, all of his money. First thing first, we all gamble because we want and expect for a profit while enjoying and entertaining ourselves, don't be hypocrite and say it was all for fun. But for me, aside from making money with gambling the reason why I gamble because of so much spare time I have, If i could have just an outdoor activity or recreational activity then I most probably I won't be sitting here in fron of the computer in long hours everyday. I've tried playing sport to avoid gambling once but I realize sport is not really for me due to some personal issue.

What is best solution for gambling addiction or a way to stop gambling is to spend timw with your family gathering in some places and just enjoy the moment you are together. Nothing can outweigh the family even the eagerness of becoming rich or being a casino jackpot winner.

It seems to me that most casino visitors are rational and play primarily for the sake of adrenaline and entertainment, and not for the sake of earning. We think that there are many "sick" on theme of gambling only because their terrible examples are very vivid and cause a strong emotional reaction.
This happens because their stories are what everyone remembers, no one notices the person that gambles responsibly and losses an amount of money they can afford to lose, but you cannot help but notice the person that has lost everything to gambling because they are very vocal about it and they begin to blame everyone except themselves, this is why in many countries there are very strict regulations to the gambling industry even if the majority of the people can gamble responsibly.

Maybe I will stop for a while if I dont have money to play. This is called discipline. If we dont have enough budget for gambling dont play, we should limit ourselves with this to avoid debt because a lot of gamblers are having this kind of behavior and it was not good and healthy for you. It is okay to have fun but still be reaponsible as we play.

I think you have a chance to stop gambling before you lose all of your money. That will better for you to leave gambling at that time so you still have money that can be used in the next day. If you can change that, I think you can save more money on another thing, and you can know how much money you should use to playing gambling. When you can get a job and get the payment, you don't have to use that money to gamble, but you can save the money for your future.

It was right to correct it first before it has beaten up our good mindset and turns into worse. Many cases have been like this and most of them suffer big losses before they realize their wrongdoings. It actually isn't bad to be in gambling and to gambled our hard-earned money but it should be of some limitation and we should have to stick on it. The only thing that a person would love to gamble is because of being attracted to the price and as well as the convincing talks of their friends. In which a thing that we can't ignore and that also brought us it somewhat be a hell.

Yes, of course. Religion would be a one them. There are 1.8 billion Muslims in the world, and Islam forbids gambling. Other religions may tolerate gambling nowadays, but it is still frowned upon by some priests. So, a religious person can stop gambling after consulting with his/her spiritual advisor.

Another thing that comes to mind is the loss of interest to everything, which happens frequently among the people of today's world. Such people are definitely not greedy, which can be considered a good thing, but it seems to me that one should be greedy, at least a little bit, to continue to evolve, to have a motivation for improving their skills.

On point number one, you will even be motivated to gamble because you are making a lot of money and there is no such thing as enough money in gambling, point number two is much better because you are changing the thinking process of the individual by adopting new habits, emotions and new activity this last point can help the gambler to stop gambling.

Those things that you've already said above is not quite sure if it happens. Just like making enough of money will make you stop in gambling? It is a big bluff, when it comes in gambling we all want to earned and earned more profit by just playing our favorites gambling platform and if we are lucky to play in that platform it is a low chances to stop you from gambling because it is a CHANCE for us to earned more profit. As my own opinion, I will stop gambling when I experiencing more losses and my assets will also damage because of many times of being loss and I will also stop my gambling when I'd already have my own priorities in life that will make more focus to achieved it instead of playing gambling again and again.

Things you've mentioned are internal/personal reasons why one must/do stop their gambling life. But how about the external reasons?

External reasons often include:
  • Had been scammed.
  • Had a serious sickness/disease (in which is a huge possibility due to the COVID outbreak)
  • Low resources/affected by his/her country's decreasing economy
  • And lastly, addiction, in which most would require a further and long rehabilitation.

Those were just my list of what I think fits the matter.

I think this does not only apply to you but to other gamblers as well most especially those who are addicted to it. I heard people say some already asked professional help or do a rehab tp fight addicted and to stop gambling but not all are successful. Some were able to stop but some still go back to what they used to thus, for me death would be the very best way to stop gambling.

It's interesting that in reality people who can say something like that are not addicted to gambling. Addicts can't realize their problem. They think they can stop any time, but they keep gambling because ... and here we go with millions of excuses.

I'm sure you'll find something creative to replace gambling with, eventually, as long as you keep trying. And it doesn't mean that your words, "only death can stop me from gambling" aren't true currently. They are. But the thing is that we keep changing all the time, the old us die, and the new us are born. It will be new you who will find doing something creative as entertaining as you find gambling today.

But in reality someone who has become a gambling addict will not be easy to stop, even though they have experienced more losses because usually they will continue to pursue defeat. At least the incident proves about gambling addicts who will not easily stop just because they get more profits and even losses, because one thing that is possible to make them stop is about changing habits to have other priorities which of course with the new priorities they have will make them can leave gambling even slowly.

Perhaps this really can be called an extreme.
Often people do just that - they stop gambling at the moment when fate pushes them against the wall because they have played too much, lost too much, fell into the eyes of the society around them.
I think first of all, in order to partially reduce this problem, it is necessary to completely eliminate alcohol during gambling.

The thing you do, exactly as I do. Because with no money that's what makes me stop playing gambling and can not force anymore. Although sometimes only play occasionally when you have money again. But it's not like the first time I was addicted to playing and playing. And now I can control everything.

There's a lot of reasons to stop gambling if you have a good jod and have own business that is main priority than gambling. Because gambling is not good in our life its give us so much pressure and problem. So if you have good jod earn money and do make a good business so that you can avoid gambling.

Even how good these reason was still there is another point why people should stop or not to gamble.
look at the first reason you give

-Making Enough or Lot of Money = If people has this?then there is more reason for them to gamble because they have capabilities to Bet more.

-Finding a passion that will change Priorities = still even how good we find diversion still we will at least at some point will play gambling .

so the answer?NO there is no reason why we need to stop totally, what we need is to control our self and thats all.

Actually the things that comes to my mind so that I stop on gambling is the losses that I have been acquired since I have been played or gamble. This probably will help you to realize the reality of being a gambler and to realize that there are more things important than spending my money to play or gambling, and also the thing is that my family has been convinced me to stop gambling.

In my opinion, it's not that simple. It's true that most gamblers in the world don't need to stop, because they are enjoying the process never spending too much time or money on it. But there are some people who must stop because gambling is just not for them. Being a good entertainment for most of the people, gambling is a killer to them, it ruins their lives and the lives of people around them. And such people should rather concentrate on finding another passion than on "making enough" money in order to stop gambling.

You can say that, but sooner or later, you can get addicted to gambling without you realize if that is happening to you or not. You will only see that you already spent much money on playing gambling games, and you will get lost more than you can think. So the best thing that you should do is limiting the money that you used to gamble and leave the gambling place if you get losing many times, so you still have money to be used to playing gambling the next day.

I once attended a training where we volunteers were taught what causes are usually addicted. Nearly 80% of gamblers who are successful stop saying that they can stop because they change focus or find priorities.

so, finding new desires / new hobbies / new focus is the best way to stop gambling.

Priorities.

This is for me the reason why I stopped gambling. I have more priorities than gambling that is why I choose to stop it and I saw already that I'm not getting anything on it but I am losing so much money and I felt regret too because of the money I spent there and asking myself "What if I used my money on other things like buying food or anything I want etc."

Aside from my priorities, I spend most of my time playing online games and it helped me too in stopping gambling. I don't have time for gambling that time because my time is heavily spent on online games and it benefited me. There are many ways for a gambler to stop gambling. Its just depend on the gambler.

All people are equal in regards to luck, the key is good money management. If someone can afford to lose $20 per month to gambling, he shouldn't risk more than $0.5 at once (and better to risk much less than that). And if such a person places a $20 bet and loses it at once, that's not bad luck, that's bad money management.

Most gamblers come into gambling for a certain reason which is mostly because they want to win the jackpot prize. If you will know already your standpoint why you are in gambling, definitely, there is no reason that you can't escape from addiction and as well as from stopping it. It is just our mindset setting up us to think that we can make money in gambling but there is nothing like that in reality if you don't have any luck in here.

so, finding new desires / new hobbies / new focus is the best way to stop gambling.

It can be a solution for people who have addicted to gambling, and they want to stop gambling. Maybe they will have difficulties to find a new desires/hobbies/focus because they never think before, and I think they will need help from the other people to choose or give an idea to them. It is normal if they still think about gambling because that will not be easy to distract their mind from gambling in the beginning. But if they can do that new thing, they will prevent from thinking about gambling because they already build a new habit.

If ever gambling makes us rich in the future, I don't think stopping our passion for gambling is a good thing to do. But what I mean is to still consider playing but betting less is more advisable. The reason is because, we should be grateful for what gambling help us to achieve something. And it is to show gratitude to help and advertise the gambling platform where we became rich.

IMO, the reason for me to stop gambling is when it affects me even if it impacts me not that hard, in times of being responsible in managing my budget for necessities and my education.

unless you really have a lot of money that it won't affect anything at all and you are still single, you might not stop gambling. its easy to gamble away all the money you have if you don't have any mouths to feed. but responsibilities and knowing priorities are just going to help good decisions. for someone who has kids and a nagging wife who will keep bugging because you are not putting food on the table, it should be time to stop your addiction. its already destroying the lives of your kids and wife.

Greed is something which will make people do anything in spite of knowing what is good and bad. Only people with good will power and self discipline can contain themselves from falling under such situations where it will not be difficult for the people to put stop when the need be unlike those who get addicted and find it difficult to stop or just cannot stop and lose out a lot of things including money, health , relationship etc.

Those who taught that gambling is a way for making money are those who are addicted already to it. Although there are some who are really making money with it, most of them are still losing their money because of gambling.

Family and health are far more important than gambling for many reasons. Stopping gambling because of them is the best decision that you can made because gambling can just give you fun but you will be experiencing more enjoyment with the family on your side :).

The two things you've mentioned is also the as mine. If I won big amount, i'll probably stop for real or if I have a job with decent salary then I don't need to rely on gambling about having good income. Second, relationship, if I have my own family, i'll definitely stop for the better. Whichever comes first. As long as I don't have any of those one, more probably, I keep going back until I have any from those two or both.

In gambling if you don't have a self control when playing it will lead you to being addicted and losses money. In my view, the first reason that makes me stop gambling is out of funds and if I won already a big of amount. Others wouldn't make stop playing if winning at hand because of being greedy. Also when we do gambling we should always think of the consequences that may bring to our love ones if we don't think appropriately.

People can only give advises on paper on which conditions they will stop the gambling. In reality, the gamblers will never quit gambling because they get enjoyed from it and at the same time they have chance & hope to win a lot of money through win in gambling.

It is not very easy to get away with gambling addiction because most of the people even don't admit that they are addicted to it.
