Title: Which is easier, stop when you are winning or stop when you are losing?
Post by: mirakal on February 10, 2020, 09:15:39 AM
I like to know your opinion about the question because I believe every gambler has a different way of managing himself.

My answer to the question is I can easily stop when I am winning because I am afraid I might end up with nothing since I know to myself that I am not yet consistent enough to win in gambling, however, based on my experience, I can't easily stop when I am losing despite the fact that I already set up a limit to gamble in a certain day or a certain session.

Do we have the same attitude or not?

Do we have the same attitude or not?

Probably the same because every time I lose in gambling, I don't feel like giving up easily, sometimes I tend to spend beyond the limit which most of time i regret the ending. I believe we will have no success in gambling if we don't know how to discipline ourselves, we have to think of long term rather short term for both situation (winning or losing) as that's the way we would not mess up our good plan, what is needed is the right execution.

This is my behavior when gambling:

1. When winning: I want more and more with a big smile on my face and I usually don't care about limits since I gamble with very small amounts.
2. When losing: I continue gambling until I lose my bankroll for the day. I don't focus on recovering my losses which is a fool's gambit majority of the time.

This mentality helps me enjoy the fun aspect of gambling without getting too serious about it and helped me win decent amounts sometimes.

when im loosing im raging and end up betting more until i came to the point that i bust  . when im winning i can limit myself more and ended up winning small amount only  .  i have tried pushing my limit or pushing out of my comfort zones but i always failed  .  i now then realized that maybe that is only my capacity  . im only a small time gambler so im tend to stick with this mentality because this is also for my own good because when i loose i cant easlly accept it   .

@mirakal all gamblers out here will have different answer, and there can be no generic answer to this question however it’s nice to know that you can stop yourself when you’re winning. In my case I can neither stop when I’m winning or when I’m loosing and the only way I can stop is when I run out of money, or my family members snatch my remaining money and I’m forced to leave the casino.

Well, I c0nsider myself different from you. Because at the time that I win, it gives me courage to play some more coz in my mind that I am lucky this time and I don't want to stop my winning streak. Losing is always in the way to happen and that is why I have to enjoy by then while I'm still winning for that it never happens all the time. Who knows, if we can make for at least a 3 straight wins if we keep playing.

I think the question cannot really cultivate a strong answer because, winning or losing it would always vary from the characteristic of a person. Even if he is winning or losing, if he could control himself/herself stopping from gambling would be possible.

It is mostly not about the result from gambling but, because of the person himself.

Took sometime to examine myself and I must say I can't come up with an answer because I hardly fine myself in any of the scenario above. I have a gambling budget for each day I intend gambling and immediately that budget is exhausted I don't refill. Supposedly I was losing, I'll keep betting until my budget is exhausted but it's likely I'll stop if I was losing than stop when I'm winning.

Some might consider it greed but I see it as seizing the moment (opportunity presented to me) meanwhile in the scenario of a lost, instead of acting foolishly by wanting to win back my money after I must have exhausted my budget and probably end up loosing more, it's best I just quit and call it a day.

I am more of gambling more when I lose, it's hard to control sometimes especially if you are in a situation where you started winning but you didn't stop because you want to achieve more and if are losing then you feel like you don't want to just stop easily.

For me it's clearly easier to stop when losing. At some point the funds are gone and the cooldown period until I'd transfer the money into the casino may help me think more clear and leave it. In my case I usually don't replenish at all.
If that doesn't work for other, there may be addiction and how big that is depends on how many times he tries to replenish.

I've almost never stopped directly at winning. Even in the good days, I had to lose once or twice after a big win streak to decide my luck has ended and I better stop.

I think for everyone else, it is very difficult to stop when winning because the vibes and excitements it brings makes you want to continue.

Likewise, it is equally had to stop when losing.

But for me, i have my limits when betting, so either i win excessively or lose distinctively. I am unshaked.

It is true, the reason behind it is because they are still hoping for more winnings.
As long as we won, we still feel that we are lucky and more winnings will come until we can't stop ourselves from playing.

Kinda tricky question but you are right that it depends on the gambler. If the amount that he's losing is already too much, it's best to stop. But we also have that mentality that as long as we're not winning, we won't stop.

Some mentality is to stop when we've won enough, I guess the verdict depends on your mood.

I have balls in gambling so I would not stop easily when I am losing, otherwise I can't sleep not getting my revenge even if I still have money to gamble.
When I am winning also, I like to seize the moment as gamblers like us does not have a lot of winning opportunity, "its now or never"... ;D ;D ;D

for me it is easier to stop when we are winning, because there are some reason can be consider, sometimes we celebrate with friends going in bars leaving the table,or either my family to treat for lunch or dinner.
o usually do this because from past i am irresponsible gambler that i can even play longer even when i'm winning until ended up losing all the money,so now i learned my lesson and when there are enough Money in my Hands?i stand in table and may return next time again.

It would be easier to stop gambling when you are winning. Commonly, if you lose, you tend to play more to get your money back. And that will lead you to play more and you won't stop until you are satisfied or win. If you win, you will consider that you should stop so you can prevent from losing in the end.

Stop when we realize that too much money has been spent on gambling and I think it will make us consistent to stop. Quitting after winning will not guarantee that we will not return to gambling, because I think the opportunity to return to gambling after winning is greater than stopping after we realize.

I am not a gambling addict, because I only gamble when there are big matches played by European clubs in EPL, La Liga and UCL, so I dont really think about when we should stop gambling because so far gambling is only to make the atmosphere better when watching competition.

It is subjective question, every gambler has their own opinion based on their own experience but mostly it is hard to stop no matter we are winning or losing but for me it is easier to stop when I'm losing because I will stop when I lose all my budget.
When I'm winning, most of the time I will continue playing but I wont use all my winning. At least I will withdraw some of my winning first before continue playing.

I gamble for the entertainment, so staying within my budget is quite simple. I have set aside a percentage of my income for entertainment and I work out how many times I can gamble and/or go to the movies and out for lunch in advance. If I go over my budget for one of these things, I do not have any money left over to enjoy the rest of the month, so I am forced to stay within my own budget.  ;)

I have to be honest too, if I am on a winning streak... it is sometimes very difficult to cash out and to stop, because you always feel that it is not your money that you are gambling with. I normally go on too long and I break even with what I started with, but it is always a lot of fun.

I promised myself, if I start chasing losses, I will stop gambling.  ;)

Ohh this is an interesting question!

Winning and losing actually puts a gambler in a pedestal on whether to gamble or to stop. Most gamblers that I know, whenever they win, they would continue to gambling but when they lost, they try to recover the value that they had just lost. It's actually funny and at the same time problematic on where to draw the line on stopping on your winnings or continue to recover your losses.

To be honest, it's not that easy to stop especially if you are on a winning streak. Not to mention, losing in gambling makes you want to gamble more in order to recover your losses. The key here is to bring only a limited amount of money and bring someone in order to tell you to stop.

Well, I can tell that you are a discipline gambler because not every gambler has the ability to stop when they are losing, some might affect their ego and they'll gamble up to the remaining centavo and this is what we called gambling with our emotion instead of gambling our mind, which is wrong.

When I'm winning, most of the time I will continue playing but I wont use all my winning. At least I will withdraw some of my winning first before continue playing.
That's playing though,... my style is different, I know when to stop but I only withdraw when I am done playing but I'll make sure I end up profitable when I feel I have a lucky day in gambling as even small winnings matters a lot for gamblers who does not win most of the time.

Others can stop when theyre winning but majority would just only stop when they dont have anymore money into their pockets. Why? they do ask for more and the fact or the reality
where greed sits in its already a hard thing to be stopped. You would really have that mindset that if you do play even more you might even to hit more bigger.
This is where most people do made some mistake which they cant stop while in midway or on winning situations. On my situation i cant really conclude that i would able to stop myself
yet there are time where greediness do really controls you hard.

Going by the experience and observing people who gamble, I think if people are little self-disciplined or have some control then it is little easier to stop during winning streaks because you know you have made money and there is high chances that more you play you might end up on a losing note. So, since you have made money one can stop it.

hard but true mate, that is what really made people to stop gambling when they run out of money, when they all spent and lose the money in pocket so they have no choice but to stop playing.

actually that is the Main reason why we are more loser than winner because we follow our greed than our main objective and that is just to win and not to seek more than what we can have.

When I was just starting with gambling, 5-6 years ago, I used to play dice mostly, and, like probably any beginner, I played with martingale. I found that it was easy to stop after playing(and chatting) for 20-30 minutes, but only in the case of winning. When you are losing, it's impossible to stop martingale(and I'm not talking about autobet, even, I mean manual betting).

Months later, after losing an amount sufficient to start thinking on changing my betting strategy I finally decided to stop using martingale. From then on I've been more safely, and, with some rare exceptions, I never lose all my balance within a short period of time. I set a limit, and although I can exceed it sometimes by 30-40%, this manner of playing is still good enough for saving most of my balance. In short, I can easily stop after a win, but stopping when I am losing is not that easy. For that I need to exercise self-control, to set limits etc.

Stop when i'm on winning streak. If i lose, i can't stop because i will become greedy and deposit more and more until i recovered all of my losses before even though i need to make very risky bet to get my losses before

I can stop easily no matter what the result is because I don't use gambling to make money. I think when we feel difficult to stop gambling, especially if we win, we can be addicted to gambling. So we need to have a limit on gambling, and we also need to remember that gambling is not for making money. But if someone can stop when you are winning, that will be good because he can save the winning money for the next days or another thing.

It actually depends on how gamblers manage themselves while they gamble. Its fun and entertaining especially during leisure time but people have various of ways on dealing with themselves. Most of them knows their own limitation while others do not because of gambling addiction. Personally, Its not difficult for me to stop myself since I know how to control myself. Before I learned the purpose of self-discipline, losing my funds is the specific reason why I stop because it makes me realize that my time and money is wasted except that I had fun.

When I win a good amount, I try to control myself. I stopped playing for that day. And when I lose, then emotion works more and more, to recover lost funds, as a result I lose all the funds later. Since I gamble with less funds, it doesn't hurt to lose it. I am not addicted to gambling so I gamble as entertainment. I think it all depends on the gamblers how they can control themselves.

For me, it was always harder to stop when loosing, and it wasn't just matter of money, my bigger issue was the loss itself, as i generally hate loosing, be it in sports, gambling or trading. And I am sure I'm not the only one, whole gambling business works as it is because of people that can't control themselves, whether in wins or losses, that's how they make their profit. If you push your lusk you will eventually run out of it, and if it's not your day, you will get nervous and start making some bad and irrational decisions. Big part of being pro is ability to control that, bur rare are able to do it.

When i first started crypto trading (bare in mind I am not some pro trader, not even close, I just trade a bit, with small portion of portfolio), biggest issue for me was to accept the loss  sometimes, as i brought the same "style" from gambling/betting. I would wait for too long, and instead taking 5% loss, i would end up in 30-40% loss. But through some experience, and losses, I managed to learn that lesson.

As for my experience, it is much easier to stop when you are winning than you are losing. You can actually stop if you want to once you win since you already have enough money in your account, unlike if you lose, you will continue to play until you can't control yourself again.

If you are too conscious not to lose much then you opt to stop right after a winning but most gambler may overcomes such factor of fear as their greedy emotion will be stronger than the fear factor. I am also thinking about to wrap up for a day after winning but I go continuing as I do not want to miss out my lucky day without a big win.

Stopping after a loss is not an optional most of the times as I am enforced to quit as there will be no bankroll left after a big bust during my martingale attempts. Also, I never go back with new funds to try recovering my loses. I may start gambling again after a break only.

It's good that you are not eaten by your greed and wanting a big win in a day, sometimes I feel that it's better to profit less than lose bigtime. Playing day by day without the intention of winning a big profit will mostly help you to survive on winning than expecting to get a big win every time you play. I am contented on small winnings as long as I don't lose too much, I also limit the amount I can play every day (maximum amount to lose) to avoid the feeling of getting back the money I lose and making the situation much worst.

When you are not greedy then it will be possible and easier for you to stop right after a winning. But, I believe most gambler are stopping after their winning in their beginning days and when they slowly grooming with gambling they become greedy which makes them unable to stop even after losses and winning both.

Simply, only you and not your emotions are not into gambling then you may stop after a winning. If your greedy nature also into gambling then you may not find it is possible to stop even after you win a big amount. Emotions are real factor here in deciding how we will gamble.

Well, there are people that gamble because they are good at it, and they feel good when they win but if they lose the eagerness to win will put them to play again. That is why gambling is not so easy to stop when you tried and feeling good at it. Some people gamble because of entertainment, some are just wasting their money and some are using skill to earn. It actually depends on the decision of a person if he really wants to stop he can stop, he can say that to himself that he needs to stop because he is losing money.

I will says this based on my habit and my own experience that during gambling if i compare to those common things above which usually happen in gambling then i will easily to stop gambling while i'm won and so far i can able to control my desire while gambling with not too greedy and usually if i can won 50% or less from my initial amount of money then i will stop and leave the game and starting it again for another days
This person is one example of a good gambler because he allot a certain amount of money to gamble and it is good to a person if he really wants to gamble, because if they lose they can stop so that he cannot lose all of his money. Just consider the future because even if how much money you have when you are too much addicted to gambling, it can make you poor.

I amn't gamber and can't answer this question directly but would love to state my opinion.
Without doubt, everything depends on personality, self-control and etc. But on another hand a lot of people find it easy to stop when they win a lot of amount of money. For example when someone won high jackpot during playing slots, in this case a lot of users stop gambling and go away to withdraw funds.
But when someone just plays particular game and wins, then it's usually hard for them to stop because they think like this: Today I'm lucky and let's get the most out of it. Then after some loses they think: let's try one more time and get that high amount back and then you know OP what happens. But it's still individual cause some may thought in different way. For example when you just need 50$ and won this amount, you may not risk to gamble and increase or decrease your money.
But in overall, I can say that when someone wins it's much more easier to stop compared to when someone loses.

As a casual gambler, it is easier for me to stop when I lose since my strategy is simple, "go big or go home." I mean, I always play with a planned budget, let's say $25 at the weekend. This $25 is money that often goes to zero when I play lol.

When I won, I used the money to buy stupid stuff, then regret why I bought that stuff. Well, that's how I enjoy my simple life.

the phrase you said  "go big or go home." is kinda popular and i heard that alot on the gambling site that i play  . most people have that vision on there but i guess majority of gamblers are like that too except from me  hehe because my vision is just play for fun  but if i won i be glad and take it out  . i will only stop once i already got bored  . cant say the exact time but that will not be the same depending on my mood   .  on your case , you think that you better gambler for a posiblity to win big than to spend useless stuff which sounds like a good idea

^ Wonderful idea bud. That's like gambling, even you are wasting your money buying stupid stuff but in the end, you enjoyed it. Because you can afford it.
Back to the OP, it easy to stop when you have no enough balance to play. But you should always train your mind to stop when you are winning and stop when you are losing. It's a matter of emotions and greed. You have to make sure that you are in control so you can avoid greed starvation. Winning doesn't mean you need to win more. You have to forget the feeling that you might still win more when you already won. Sure win is the thing you have to focus on.

For me, it's easier to quit while I'm ahead, than while I'm down.

I think it's just my competitive mindset, I'll often try to recoup my losses by pouring more money in, which has worked out fine for me more often than not.

I know that one day I'll eventually get ruined this way, so I've begun setting strict limits that I won't exceed. It's always better to stop after a win, remember that guys.

I do not have any problem stopping myself in either case since I have very strict rules when it comes to that, if I am losing as soon as I lose the amount of money I had decided beforehand then I stop immediately and when I am winning as soon as the time I decided to use for my gambling activities is reached I stop immediately as well, however in my experience when I see other gamblers they have way more problems stopping themselves when they are losing than when they are winning.

Definitely stop when losing. Whenever I win it is very difficult to stop because I end up seeing my money going up and up and up so I can't stop, I could make a few bucks here and than a few bucks there and keep going. I guess most gambler here might have experienced that excitements for sure hence there will be no chance at all for stopping after winning.

However, when I am losing its very easy to stop because I see my coins diminishing and that means I will have less and less money the longer I play so its wise to stop. Plus when you try to recoup what you have lost, you end up losing even more so its quite dangerous to do something like that.

I like Soccer, this is not about money. it is about something I love. Before, I didn't go into the sports betting section, which is why I didn't use the betting site. But I've been playing video games for years (for over 15 years) and I always liked PES (Pro Evolution Soccer) for that reason even when I lose money I don't give up on sports betting. Is very frustrating when the person has a long losing streak. When that happens to me I reduce the value of my bets and try to remember the mistakes I made to correct

I can get your point but when I am loosing I feel like I will just recover my frequent loss and then just stop so it works as a catalyst for me during gambling to gamble even more. I am not addicted to gambling but it is just my perspective that whenever I deposited I am not feared to loose it all, though obviously I don't want to loose it. That freedom between I don't mind loosing what I have and I don't like losing what I have lost is what makes it harder for me to stop gambling when I am in loss. This is true for dice and other instant virtual games though.

In sports betting I rather like to stop when I feel like it's just not my day and my picks aren't working.

Here you are wrong actually because you actually stop when you win big and and you loose then you don't mind loosing all of it, right?

I mean just re-think about what you are saying once, you loose all $25 and then you would stop or you would stop after you have lost say around $12 from 25 .. you will obviously say you stop at loosing it all so it's actually the fact that you can't stop when you are losing.

When I won, I used the money to buy stupid stuff, then regret why I bought that stuff. Well, that's how I enjoy my simple life.
Haha, I know that feeling I too make such purchases which I don't mean to actually buy when I have some extra funds from either gambling or anything else and I don't mind this habit 1 bit because I have so many more items now which i won't have if I acted miserly.

It's definitely easier for me at least to stop while I'm ahead.

I suggest that crypto gamblers have a setup whereby any BTC that they withdraw in winnings to a fiat bank account are kept their - and they only play with the profits that they make or whatnot. That way, you are sure that even if losses accumulates later down the road, there is too much effort in converting the fiat back to BTC to feasibly go and get more coins to chase your losses with.

But both these activities are just as equally destructive. Have a good mindset and you shouldn't ever have these issues.

For me too because when I have won some certain amount there is a fear that develops inside me that tell me I am about to loose and even as I lose little amount after that I feel like the bad streak is on its way any moment and much easier to stop for me.

Like if I deposited 0.01 BTC and I make it to 0.014 then I must say that it's hard to stop right there but suppose I make loss and come back to 0.013 then it's almost a certain stop from my side because I feel like I am about to loose all I won and this works for me.

But, there are times when I am loosing and it's hard to stop, so yes for me its easier to stop when I am winning rather than when losing.

I actually dont think that would do much to curb the issue.

What's to stop them just playing at a fiat casino? I actually think it might make the problem worse, since they'll then be forced to play at a casino that is even more accessible, thereby fueling the addiction.

I think there should be some sort of bank account option, where users can opt to block deposits to known casino sites. That might work to increase the barrier to entry.

I think it is easier to stop when I am winning. I always have budget limitations on my bettings so it won't be that hard to stop when i'm losing. Stopping to bet when winning is too difficult because it is already free money and as humans we are greedy by nature. This happened to me last late 2017 when I don't want to sell most of my bitcoins because I wanted to become a dollar millionaire by 2018 with my friends (we were bunch of crypto enthusiasts that time hoping to become dollar millionaires by 2018). We ended up losing hundreds of thousands of dollars. Toughest lesson learned on my financial management side.

I can stop easily no matter what the result is because I don't use gambling to make money.
That's really strong will power because myself as a fun gambler I find it hard to stop when I feel like I am in knack of gambling. And I can assure you I am very controlled gambler, but it's hard to stop for me so you must have a strong will power.

if someone can stop when you are winning, that will be good because he can save the winning money for the next days or another thing.
True but there is always a feeling like we could have make more money if we continued. I mean let's assume we find a gold mine and we know we can't dig too much else we will loose all, suppose of it as a game. Now no matter when you stop you will always feel like you could have got a few more :D.

1. Don't ever gamble with cash you can't afford to lose
2. Quit when you're up

works for me  :)

I beg to differ in this instance.

Fiat casinos generally are much less accessible than crypto ones, and the barrier of entry are way higher and betting is not real time all the time. They also have a much bigger house edge compared to crypto casinos on average, which are all factors that can deter gamblers.

Of course you could self-exclude from crypto dice sites, but what good is that when you have such a vast array of alternatives that you can choose from? Realistically it's not going to help much.

Well, In my case,
Gambling for a long time, I realized that in gambling, success can only be overcome by controlling greed, patience and anger.

When I repeatedly won, after a certain period I stopped playing, I control my excitement and greed and concentrate on other tasks
then I come back again with a normal fresh mind as if nothing had happened.

Likewise, When I lost repeatedly, I control my patience and anger, I give up playing and hold my rest bankroll safe.
Then when my anxiety subsided, I come back again.

From my experience I find it easier to stop while losing already rather than keep on playing after a win, and this is the case no matter what game I play, as it seems that as soon as I got a win I can happily go away for a while but when I lose constantly its frustrating to see how easily you lose everything. So, I suppose there's some sort of control when to stop.

you eventually improve if you keep learning, losing control is normal to people as we are just human, we have our emotion but keep doing the same mistake over and over, I would call that stupidity and we have no room for improvement in gambling, instead it will only destroy our lives.

We indeed could not stop gambling everytime we lose. It's like being on an endless discomfort and missatisfaction whenever we lose, ending up we bet and play more. It is a good practice to stop whenever you are winning. You already testedbyour luck and hitting it at once doesn't mean you would be lucky for the whole day. As they say, one is enough,  two is too much.

But some mindset differs from the others. Maybe you find losing as your limit and be satisfied that you aren't lucky whenever you lose. But surely, most of gamblers that won and had a lot of experience losing would find it hard resisting the chances of winning. That's why even you often win, becoming an addict would just make you lose uour time in life in the end.

In my experience, I can stop in either of the outlined cases. So whether I am winning or losing, I still have to spend. When I'm winning, I usually stop due to the fact that I don't want to get too excited and then my winnings turn to losses. On the other hand, I would stop playing when I'm on the losing end in other not to incur more losses. It's a two way thing for me because my plan with gambling has always been to earn rewards while having fun. If I'm not doing that then I just stop, get a chill pill and try at a latter time.

I think, both winning and losing in gambling is more related than separated. It is more of a pattern. Let's say you are losing too much in gambling, as you feed your greed, you won't stop playing because of the urge of winning. And once you achieve a win, it will give you a hopr that "I can win" because you have experienced it. Then your body will be loging of winning again not realizing how big the loss already.

Setting a goal would be a nice way in order for one to have a "self control" and if that goal is being accurate, such that everytime reaching a goal, the gambler stops, it would prevent gambling addiction. And that is self discipline.

For me, I can't easily stop when I am winning a gamble because I have this kind of mentality: "beginner's luck". When I still win the game, my mind automatically sets that "maybe another try I will win again and can make my money grow even more". As for losing, I can easily stop when I start losing because I have no money to put on. So it's easy for me to quit.

there is nothing to choose, because what is important?if we knew when to stop no matter when losing or when winning the problem is our capacity on how to implement such action.
there are many gamblers that made a promise when they win this amount,or losing this amount will make them stand from the table but if things comes?they refuse instead continue to either win more or chase the losses.

The signal to achieve more winning will bigger because we already won before. But as you say, we won't stop playing because the greediness factor in ourselves will bigger too, and that attracts us to keep playing gambling. If we follow that sign, we will not stop even if we win so much money because we will not realize that we cannot always win in gambling.

That will happen the same if we lose. If we lose in the games, we will curious about the game, and that can make us to playing more until we feel desperate. Perhaps, in this case, stop during a win and stop if we lose cannot make us easier to stop gambling.

So for me, it is easy to stop when I am losing as I always put a limit to my gamble expenses so I will not end up losing all my money. It's a matter of control only and you will not be addicted in gambling then you can control how much you are going to use to your gambling.

Basically all gamblers can stop anytime without waiting for winning or losing as they wish as long as they have good self control. If have to choose which one is easier then I have to choose that it is easier to stop while I'm on losing all my balance because I have no more money to play. Of course, it will be better if we can stop before losing too much and we can stop when we are winning (reaching the target).

I prefer stop when you are losing, this is hard to accomplish because gambler tends to believe that the next roll will be the next roll that they are waiting so they keep adding and deposit more funds in the hope that they can recover what they've already lost and win some more which is a dangerous thing to implement.

Control is very crucial once you are engaged to this activities. If you can manage to quit while you are  still in positive side that's much better, as you can enjoy your winnings. While in the otherside, it's frustrating when you keep losing and you are still trying to recover your money. Best to have balance mindset, both winning and losing should be well prepared.

This situation depends on the gambler on how he can manage to control himself. Even you win or lose its still tempting to continue because of our emotions.

In my case stop when I win is much easier because of the thought its not usual to win when I gamble plus the fact that I dont play to grow my money, so its like a bonus to win while enjoying the game.

For some gamblers I think its not easy to stop if you're losing because as much as possible you will try to recover back your losses unless you have set limit on how much to spend when you gamble.

That's hilarious! :) ... and also pretty much correct, at the same time.

When I say that I enjoy gambling regardless of whether I'm winning or losing, people often ask, "How can you enjoy losing?". Well, because I often buy stupid stuff with the won money, the stuff I regret buying, and that feeling of regret is not what I want to experience in the nearest future. How about that? )

If I am happy with my winnings I just stop. I don't have the need to push my luck. Statistically it is unlikely that you will get into a big winning streak because the house edge will eat you up sooner or later.
I always play with money I am prepared to lose and that number doesn't change. If I lose it, that is it. It is time to walk away.

you eventually improve if you keep learning, losing control is normal to people as we are just human, we have our emotion but keep doing the same mistake over and over, I would call that stupidity and we have no room for improvement in gambling, instead it will only destroy our lives.
Losing cannot be avoided since it will be natural in gambling because sometimes the odds are very unpredictable since it will become so hard when there are so many probabilities, it is hard to speculate. all we can do is accept that not all the game that we are into , not all the time we will gonna win and get the jackpot or huge money, we can be lose sometimes, but losing too often is alarming, frequent losing needed a break.
I am one of the persons who never stops playing if I am winning because I think to myself I didn’t have this money before so why not reinvest it in the slots I am playing.I can stop playing when I am losing because I start to think and if I continue to play I risk to lose more and more.Even when I am winning I only continue to play up to the point where I start to lose my initial amount of money.
Sometimes, winning makes us to not to stop  game and continue to play it , even we already won a lot it drives us to continue and play until we are tired, but we need to control this one, do not stop , just pause for a little while.

To stop doesn't depend on winning or losing but when you are aware to stop is the best choice. Commonly, winning makes people be greedy and desire to achieve more prizes. While losing should encourage people to try more till winning the games. These two conditions don't lead to stop gambling but trigger people to play more. So, I assume people just stop when they can make themselves be aware of the disadvantage of playing more gambling.

Correct me if I am wrong, based on my observation, real gamblers are more eager to get back their loses when winning but those who are not really a gambler they are afraid to risk more and then they stop.

I believe not all who shared their opinion here are gamblers in real life because theory are actual practice are way too different if you know what I mean.

doing it multiple times is really stupidity not unless we are mastering that thing and we will be surely make more and more mistakes as materal needs perfect transitions.

and in the end?they are the true winners mate.

I do have the same attitude as yours. I do stop after winning but always came back tomorrow to gamble again  :).

Yes that is the problem. Almost all gamblers will agree to this but, will they stop gambling forever or just for that moment they won?. Gambling while you win and while you loose seem the same with me because, its all about luck. I don't stop while loosing because I believe in luck as I gamble for fun. I remembered few years ago when I  gambled my savings and went home with none, but later came back with my borrowed funds to gamble again, at the end I came back full-time with my savings and an additional winning. Am a type that don't easily give up.

Before Both of this I hard to stop like in winning because of greediness to win more I lose more money and also when Im losing I play more to so I can back my capital. But now look at me I can easily stop when Im winning and losing money.

Yeah, but I never withdrew more money with the hope of winning in the next round to recoup whatever losses I made.

Haha, I know that feeling I too make such purchases which I don't mean to actually buy when I have some extra funds from either gambling or anything else and I don't mind this habit 1 bit because I have so many more items now which i won't have if I acted miserly.

How about that? )
LOL, I still remember I have spent a lot to buy winemaking kits, with all the high-quality yeast to make the best wine ever. Only used twice.
Or when I bought quite expensive latex -allergen-free- pillow. The most expensive night ever! Only used once, and I never use it again since it hurts my neck.

Anyway, which one is easier, stop loss or take profits, depends on your playing style. However, in behavioral finance, traders tend not to cut short their losses, but hold their assets down with the market (or it is easier to stop when they win). Hence, I place a hard limit every time I play because it's a lot harder to stop when you lose. I hope that "science" makes sense.

I do have the same attitude like yours and it's much easier to stop than stopping when you are losing, when you are losing you are always tempted that you can get your losses back I guess  it's human nature to keep hoping, even though the odds is very small.

You are right. But many of us cannot follow our rule, and even we reach our target profit, we still want to get more profit. That can make them lose all of their winning money, and if they still not realize, they can lose everything they have without any left with them. Yes, we will feel hard to stop when we are winning, and that will need to have strong control over ourselves so we can stop it right away before we lose the winning money.

I think for everyone else, it is very difficult to stop when winning because the vibes and excitements it brings makes you want to continue.

Likewise, it is equally had to stop when losing.

But for me, i have my limits when betting, so either i win excessively or lose distinctively. I am unshaked.
What do you call "your limits"? You have limits on the total amounts you are betting or limits on the amounts you are losing/winning?
If you have limits on the amounts lost or won you can't win or lose excessively.

If I have a goal set and I am winning, I would prefer to stop once it is reached or if I start losing more while reaching near the target - depends on my mood. But for the losing part, I will not let my whole capital go bust and if I have lost some part of it already, I will stop immediately. I set some loss goals too so that if I reach near that goal, I stop playing and either withdraw or continue some other day as I don't feel my luck works for me that day.

when I win I withdraw part or 75% of my total money, then play the rest.
and if on the same day I do not get any victory I have to stop I know it is difficult but must to do, some people will continue to play and hope to restore their defeat in the next game but it will get worse. Because there is still tomorrow, remember good luck doesn't come just today, there are still other days so just relax, dont play too hard.

It's too easy to enjoy in gambling when you have that kind of discipline, if you keep doing that you'll never regret gambling but once you break that habit even for once, for sure you'll be at risk of losing your control and once you loss your control, that's the start where you ruin your life as a gambler.

Obviously, stop when you're losing 'cause you're tired and don't have enough money to bet.

When you're continuously winning the game, then you will continue also to bet and gamble. That's how the mentality of a desperate one to earn a lot of money. Betting a lot until you lose again all of your money.

We are quite the same If I already gain a decent amount I stop and withdraw my profit it is easier to stop when winning than losing. I am not a regular gambler I don't play every day. I play when I have nothing else to do just a luxury time. I also set a limit if a lose this certain amount I stop and call it a day maybe it is not my lucky day.

I actually find it easier to stop when I'm winning because I've become less greedy as a whole from trading and getting burned from greed very often such as when I sit on a position too long and price action starts going to other way. I can certainly see how it can be hard to stop when you're losing because you want to 'win back' losses, but from my own experience of losing significant sums of money through chasing losses, it's a terrible mindset to be in. If I end up winning more than I expect, I usually stop and buy something nice I otherwise would not purchase and go on with my day.

That is a good decision to stop and withdraw the profit while we can because we will difficult to see a chance of winning in gambling. You are so lucky not being a regular gambler, and you also not play gambling every day, so you can stop anytime you want. Limiting the money will help you to know how long you can playing gambling, so you don't drag too deeper into gambling games.

Perhaps, stop while we lose in gambling will be easy to do than to stop while we win because some gamblers will play gambling to try to get another winning.

On my own opinion, it is easier to stop when I am winning because I am not a greedy person, my friend knows about that, when I am gaining so much money I prefer to stop because I am afraid to lose it again, winning even a little in gambling is enough you don't need to devour all the fiat or currency of your opponent because you might end up losing. Gambling is a matter of being lucky, and luck is not always on your side, so if you know that you are already winning, then make it stop. But on the other side about losing, I am also that kind of person, and when I am missing, I want to stop because I am too afraid to lose all of my money. I don't prefer to bet my last money thinking that I would recover from losing. That two sides are equal, it all depends on your situation, but I am most prefer to stopping when I am winning because I am not a greedy person, as I have said above.

yeah it is contradicting considering that he has Limits on amounts to win or lose and that wont be appropriate to win that said excessively.

not unless he is Pointing about the "Time to be Spent"?at least playing in 3-5 hours when he is betting?no matter how much he spent or win what is important the time schedule?i know this is very rare but this is also my condition now, when i played at least 1-3 hours maximum and after that?i need to stand up either win or lose.

Well even though i lost, i dont get to emotional about it cause i know what i've gotten into is very risky and also entertaining

Yeah, I can feel you, mate, I used to buy a lot of unnecessary stuff too. And now I think if I'd just gamble that money away, I'd feel much better afterwards. In my case it's books, $20-$30 per copy, most of which I don't have time to read, but I can't make myself to throw them away either, so I'm doomed to be reminded of my stupidity, probably forever. )

For me its better to stop when you losing because there is possibility to save some of your money from losing. As long as you continue you might possible to lose it all, so its better to stop specially to those people who now become addictive to gambling. Stop as long as you can because when you do gambling there is a big possibilty you might regret it in the end. Stop when you feel that you started to lose everything, and you cannot control it.

For me, it is easier to stop if you are losing.

Tendencies that may happen if you are losing is that, you will not borrow money anymore from other people because you know already that you lose your money unless you are an addicted gambler and you will always find a way to find money. Stopping when losing is easier because you are lacking of funds already.

If you are winning, chances are you will not stop because the more winnings you have the more you become greedy and you will not stop until you lose all of your money.

We all know that gambling is one of the ways to earn a lot of profit as a gambler we want to seek some fun but most of us want to play gambling games because we want to earn more extra money. To win all of your games it is better if you choose the right platform so it is easier for you to win. As a gambler, we always expecting the loss of money and having a profit and one of the problems is when is the right time to stop. Sometimes being greed can make us to make more earning because with the use of momentum on earning money we can get a lot more. But sometimes being greed can cause too much loss of money because the use of gut feels we did not expect the scenario of having too much wage and risk. As a player too I would like to recommend that if you got already a profit it is better to stop for a while than risking all of your money.

We don't have to spend all of the money to get fun because if we can have a calculation on how much money we use in gambling, we can limit the money that we will use. Maybe we can set how long we gamble, so if the time is run out, we can stop gambling, and take the rest of the money with us. We can come back again tomorrow.

It is neither IMO. Having good streaks sometimes give you that feeling that you will not lose, urging you to play more and more even though the threat of losing is imminent. Whereas on the losing side of things, your mind urges you to chase your losses resulting into an even more loss, which is unfortunately harder to bear than the former. Depending on a person’s self-control, he could win big or lose small—or lose it all. It’s a case by case basis, but I know for sure that for me, it’s easier to quit when I lost than to quit when I have lots of money left to blow.

In the past, I don't have that but today, win or lose, I can stop myself whenever I wanted too. At that time, I am addicted to gambling, I can't really stop unless my wife told me to. That is why I spend a lot of time with her asking her to stop myself from gambling. That is not enough since there are also a lot of people that talk to me so I can refrain from gambling. It is not an easy process and it really took time, and take note, even though my addiction to it stopped, I still gamble but now I can control myself it is just that I can't stop completely.

Indeed, in most cases, I feel that gamblers only stop when they lose, instead of stopping when they are winning because as you say, psychology and victory will push our pace and rhythm very high, we will think we are the champions at that time and nothing can stop us from harvesting in casino but obviously, this inconsistent speed makes us lose our temper and cannot control the game, things will get worse from that moment. While in the case of losing, we will have more thought to stop when we know our money is exhausted, more accurately, we are forced to stop when the fuel runs out.

Theoretically it is easier for people to stop on gambling when they lose. Because there's goig to be 2 factors that will be affecting their decision as compared to winning which is only one. They can be forcibly stopped to gamble when all their monies have dried up. This is one of the biggest reality checks there is after all. Another is through self-realization. Once they notice the aftermath and the monster they have become. They are sure to be convinced to stop on betting or gambling. As per winning however, humans have this mindset that if they have done it once, they can do it again. So most probably people winning will still comeback to gambling once they tasted huge racks.

Definitely we have the same attitude because taking stopping with profit is easier than stopping to avoid further loss. The reason is that although greediness triggers on both situation, when we are losing we are more likely to get anger thus it makes our emotion arise rapidly without knowing to ourselves that it occure as we're busy recovering that losses. On the other hand when we stop with profit, what our problem is that we aren't contented but it's more acceptable and your emotion at that situation is less aggressive.

Greediness will stop us from thinking which of which is better. It's evident from many experiences that people lose more due to being greedy. Not stopping when already won same with keep pushing and not stopping when already loss a lot. We need to know what our goal is even the temptation is too high, know your goal so focus and set the goal amount that will stop when won and amount already spend for you to stop.
A wise gambler always set it's limitations, if you wanted to take advantage you should create a system that will allow you to control the situations. When you already lose such amount from your set goals best to stop, same with when you are winning. Don't allow greed to control you, it's always nice to quit when you are in winning status, enjoying the luxuries of your winning money.

I cannot stop in both cases. When I am winning I feel I should win more and keep playing. This way sometimes i win more but at other times i lose my winnings too. When i lose a game i get frustrated , i am tempted to play another game  thinking that i will win another time and will cover my previous lose. Sometimes this works for me but at other times, i lose more money.

I am on phase when win or lose i can stop gambling. Beside only play with small amount of money,  i have something else to do beside gambling so my time is not only to play gambling especially i am sportsbetting fan. I think make sure we not use a lot of time to play gambling is simple way that can help us avoid an addiction.

It'll be easier for me to stop when I'm winning compared to when I'm losing.
It's true that the human tendency will make me keep playing more if there are frequent wins but controlling myself and stopping after making good gains is going to a positive for me.
Losing, on the other hand, will make it a bit difficult to control as I would be constantly trying to just get my losses back by winning a bit until I am at a point where I don't want to lose anymore or take any chances.

Well that would be the craziest thing we do but that's the reality I also experience that for quite sometime since greed actually hit when we are in luck nor in bad shape but litlle by little I manage to stop to control my emotion and not get addicted for certain games here. Maybe you should start to discipline yourself starting these days to avoid wasting money for not intended betting habits.

How do you behave if the game brings +/- zero profit/loss? Maybe you really like the game process and not the result, and therefore it is difficult for you to stop on time?

Uncertain, when I get lost but on the other hand I still have money that can be spent, then at least I will continue betting but sometimes I will immediately end the game even though I still have money to spend. Likewise when I get a win but on the other hand I feel I still have a chance to get a good result, then I will continue betting and sometimes I will immediately leave the game for a reason about the mood that might change, things like this are very uncertain for I am because what can make me stop betting is not from the results of winning and losing.

Not about winning, nor losing. It will be easier to stop when you experience bad things in gambling. For example: you become addicted to gambling, while you are trapped in debt. This must be a strong reason for you to stop since you know that gambling brings nothing for you, unless a big debt. With this condition, if you still care about the future of your family and yourself, you must directly try hard to stop suddenly.

I am not sure if that is true to others but based on my experience, when I am addicted in gambling I find it easier to stop compared now that I am already in control and more discipline.

It is hard to decide which is easier to stop because I also experienced the two but for me it is gard to stop when I losing. There is a psychological factor that pushes me to play more even my losses is now huge. It is the greed that forcing me to gamble my money in order to regain my losses. But I have now good risk and management where I have specific cut loss in order to lessen the risks. I can now also fully control my emotions and specially my greed.

For me it is easier to stop when you are losing because of you are losing and you are running out of funds to supply your gambling then you’ll be forced to stop gambling unlike when you are winning when you tend to feel greedy and wanted some more and considering you have money to do it then you will not worry to much wether you lose or win. Winning can make you feel overwhelmed and sometimes you think of playing some more to increase your earnings and with that it made it very difficult to stop.

Some even may say neither. When you're winning, you're driven by greed to win more and feel confident that you're lucky. On the other hand, losing just makes you feel the urge to bet more in hopesof recivering your losses.

But for me, I'd say winning is a much easier time to quit than losing. You can easily flip your emotion from greed to contentment, but it's difficult to change a revenge mindset.

That is right. But when you are losing, and don't have any money, perhaps you will feel comfortable to stop than if you win some money. If you don't have money, how can you play gambling again? While if you have money, you will easy to continue playing gambling, and that can make you lose all the money you win before. I think many of us will stop playing gambling if we lose money, especially if that person is not addicted to gambling games, and they will feel that their time to play gambling ends.

In my case, stop when I am losing.

In short, I can just stop since I don't have money to gamble with. When I decide to gamble, I just bring money that I can lose. I don't want to bring a lot of money since even though I can stop, there are those times where you get so desperate to win. When that happens, that is fine since I already avoided bring big amount of money with me.

I don't know what attitude I fall, what's important with me when gambling is that when I win with huge amount I'd probably stop for several days until such time I felt bored again. Stopping gambling can't be promised, because if you knew how to minimize it as a professional one much better to control it with determinations. The decisions is dependent on how you do it all by yourself.

You are easily satisfied in your winning if that is the case and you are not really focus on gambling, well I believe you have a good attitude towards gambling but I don't expect that you'll have a long term success in gambling as one needs to be serious if he wants to be successful in gambling.

There are people who just play for fun while there are also people who took it as a career, so you should know where you belong .

Took it as a career? Maybe those poker experts can be considered with this but still its a risky job if I were to ask. I'm maybe on the side where entertainment and small gains can both coexisted. Gambling is naturally addictive but OPs question is about control, winning or losing the funds should be set for a halt or continue. I am more into stopping than continuing even though Im winning. I'm a nervous kid anyway. Low to middle risk taker.

For me, people makes easier decision on stopping gambling for the day if they are winning, why is that, it is because at least they are in the good mood to mesmerized the moment with their profits, unlike to those people who are not winning at all, their urge would be much stronger because they really wanted to win to feed their hunger towards the profits that they could get if they would be lucky.

Nonetheless, it is still depends on a person, it could be the other way around in both situations. I mean it depends if they have strong mentality and strong realization.

when I win I withdraw part or 75% of my total money, then play the rest.
and if on the same day I do not get any victory I have to stop I know it is difficult but must to do, some people will continue to play and hope to restore their defeat in the next game but it will get worse. Because there is still tomorrow, remember good luck doesn't come just today, there are still other days so just relax, dont play too hard.
It's too easy to enjoy in gambling when you have that kind of discipline, if you keep doing that you'll never regret gambling but once you break that habit even for once, for sure you'll be at risk of losing your control and once you loss your control, that's the start where you ruin your life as a gambler.

that i say you need to control yourself, its not hard but after you get used to it, it will easy to do.
for example, when im playing poker and get very strong card like AA or KK then i lose when all in, its very sick and i got mad  usually i punch my table when i lose that game.
but for know my reaction just ordinary, and think maybe im just not luck in that turn.

I'm not against you but people nowadays are lacking of contentment already ;).

Gamblers tend to become greedy when they are gambling and they will become more greedy when they know that they are winning. Gamblers doesn't have contentment and even not gamblers, there are some people who lacks this. People wants to have this thing and if they will have it, chances are they will ask for a better one.

Either way, changing mindset in an instant is very hard for me so stopping when winning is hard because of changing mindsets. It is easier for a gambler to stop if they are losing because they don't have money to spend with.

Obviously it is easier to stop when you are losing than when you are winning. As long as you are being fortunate with your game, you should just keep on going but still be mindful of the money that you have already won so that even if you'll lose later on, you will have some extra money hidden from them. In the end, you will still be winning amidst losing. If you are already losing for too many consecutive times, take a break and strategize then come back again to play and try your fortune once again and see if it is your time already.

That is a strategy that you need to use also when you are trading, it is very common for a trader to lose many trades in a row and the right strategy is to reduce the size of your positions to save capital and make more profits in the future when your system is making money again, and while I do not know if you have a system that allows you to be profitable when you are making sports bets it is important to reduce how much capital you are using when you have a losing streak that way you will be able to gamble for longer and obtain more fun as a result of this.

Agree, I think winning is one of the motivations to continue in gambling, in my opinion, ;D Most of the time this winning is going to drive you to continue gambling and continue winning or trying your luck in gambling.

I think losing consecutively is the one that is going to make you stop in gambling just temporarily and then you could try again in some other times.

A gambler that's for-profit will not stop even if he's losing that much.

He will continue regardless of how much he has already lost because he's looking for a profit. And once, he has managed to reach that certain amount of profit, that will be the time for him/her to stop.

It's easier for them to stop when winning.

It's all about setting a Target and try to meet it . Gambling is not am everyday thing. So punters needs to know when to take a break and come back stronger. If you lose three times in a row, that's a sign to stay away for a while. This also depends on your strategy. If your profit target is met, then you can stop and continue later.

Yeah, you may lose or win in gambling but it does not mean we will lose our hopes and will not play next time. In poker, many people lose some part of their money when they began to play but gradually they get trained and get poker experience which is the only important thing in gambling so I feel excited and keep gambling if I  am winning and stop to take a break for some time to get fresh.

Usually it's easier to stop when you're losing because you have some money on your account or in your pocket and if that runs out you will stop whether you like it or not.

When you're winning and have more and more money on your account you'll keep betting until you get a losing streak and run out of money which will stop you from betting more. In the end math wins :D

But now I can easily do both. I set a limit for my profit and loss and it helps me a lot to have discipline when gambling.

The other players once they lost money they did not control their self playing more because they have goal and that is to turn their losses.
Others too who are greedy once they win a money they want more so they still playing and not stop until they lose money.

I have that two attitude before but after I realize this is not good to me because I only suffer to what I'm doing I change it and I know now my limitations and how to be contented of what I get  or what I win.

Stopping when winning is much easier than stopping when you are losing, you have this attitude and thinking that your next roll could be your turn to win, it's actually a false hope, but it happens to me several times i end up adding more funds and hoping luck will be on my side on the next roll.

It would take some time before I could go back to gambling because of the thought of losing more money.

I have never looked into that aspect, although I generally stop after winning upto a certain amount. Sometimes I also do it when I am loosing continuously. I think it depends on the situation. You cannot guarantee how much you can win niether how much will you lose. I have set a target for both the situation and I bet according to that.

For me it's also stopping when you're winning I find it easy to stop because I don't make several bets on sports  but sometimes I get carried away in the moment and continue making 2 to 3 more bets that would put me back to even. Losing is much harder for me because it feels like a snowball effect and  it's slightly hard to not take the chance when you've done several recoveries after being down by at least half of your starting bankroll. This is just my mindset when i'm losing my bankroll and not losing overall.

Every gamblers have his or her own strategy in every game, Winning is always tempting for more gambling if you're addicted to gamble. And whenever you are loosing, some always have the thought of recovering from their loss. So at this point some will find it difficult to quit when losing or winning. I think it would be good to set up your plans and apply wisdom in every decision making.
I suggest any time you win, take out your capital and use your profits for further games.

Not about winning, nor losing. It will be easier to stop when you experience bad things in gambling. For example: you become addicted to gambling, while you are trapped in debt.
There are actually rare cases (not sure) that a gambler actually has a harder time stopping when he's in a pretty bad spot with regards to other matters in his life, whether it be a problem concerning money or not. In those cases, those people could rightfully be called addicts, and would usually stop at nothing to earn money to gamble. They'd probably mortgage their own organs or even life if they could, all so that they could gamble it out.

Imo though, its a lot easier to stop if you know what you're doing. In a sense, after winning a few times or losing a few times, you'd come to consider that you're gambling no? You'd come to realize that, okay I'm losing too much got to stop or okay I'm pretty lucky today, but I shouldn't really push it. Its the mindset that counts, not the situation I suppose.

Self-discipline is a kind of "must have" for every gambler.  For me it's extremely hard to stop, when you are losing. I continue gambling and focus on recovering my losses until I spend all money.

It is difficult to recovering your losses because you will need to spend more money, which you cannot expect to win in the next round. In gambling itself, you will need the luck to recover your losses and win some money, and you need to realize that luck will not always come to you even if you add more money to place the bets. So yes, self-discipline is a must have for every gambler, and I think if we have that thing, we can stop gambling anytime, and we will not feel difficult to stop gambling.

The Op post probably suggest he is betting for the prize and not to enjoy or have fun with gambling. I think you should be able to quite If your money/time spent on betting is too much, and you were/are not really attracted by the fun or pleasure & use it to suppress a problem in your life.
In my opinion, spending too much time/money on betting without minding your loses could be considered an addiction.

One of the ways where people who just can’t resist gambling and not able to quit too should consider keeping aside a certain money be very month for gambling . Now you have to manage for whole month in that money only . If you win you decide what needs to be done or if you loose entire quickly then you do not gamble till rest of the month . This will be starting point for you also to take control of your decisions regarding gambling .

Usually it's easier to stop when you're losing because you have some money on your account or in your pocket and if that runs out you will stop whether you like it or not.
~

I disagree with this. Losing their balance on a gambling site don't stop people from gambling more and more. They simply deposit another amount, which is usually bigger than the previous one, because they want to recover their losses. And if they don't have money of their own, they borrow it. It is called "chasing losses", and it's a real hell, if you ask me.

On the other hand, for those gamblers who only play with money they can afford to lose, indeed losing their balance means stop for the day. And although it's the majority of gamblers, I don't think we are talking about them in this topic, because for them it's not hard to stop at any time, regardless of whether they are losing or winning.

Do we have the same attitude or not?

I think we have the same attitude on the winning part but we are opposite on the losing part.  Whenever I play gambling games, I always have this plan sort out.  Set a maximum amount to lose and set a minimum amount to win before quitting the session.

Honestly, it is quite easy, just try it and stick to the plan.  You will find it amazing how easily we can control our gambling activities.

You can stick to the plan as long as you wish, but when you get a fever it's will be a trouble to stop. On other side when you lose the money you can't gamble even if you want to. Quitting while you have advantage is always a good thing, but it's not always possible due our human nature, our greediness. When we lose everything we have no options than to quit, from that side I would say it's easier to quit when you lose, just because lack of options.

Either win or lose I think I don't have a problem but I do agree that it is easier to quit when you are losing. The thing about is that if you are aware that you are losing continuously, you better start or take a safe decision rather than recklessly betting all of the money you had. Those streaks of losses will tell how unlucky you are that day, you should be aware of that as always.

Hmm, I can't stop when am loosing and can't stop when am winning: what determine my stop is my limit set. As a.long-term gambler I am, I gamble based on my set limit and not winning  nor lose determine when am to stop gambling. For those who believe in stop while winning in gambling will definitely get it wrong. Neither be at lose will stop while gambling, the only thing that should determine when we should stop; should be limit. With this, addiction will never come into a gambler or close the said person.

I find it much easier to stop then when I am winning a game, I am the kind of gambler that wants to enjoy my winnings by having a drinks or celebration, although I also have control when I am losing but stopping when winning is the hardest thing for me.

We are the same, I will go to the safest place. When I win in gambling and hit  my certain standard, I will now stop for a while and I can invest it on bitcoin. Maybe this is a wise management of funds because if we dont limit ourselves, we will ended up as gambling addict and this might affect our relationship with other people or worse hurt other people.

here is why

When you bet and you win , you get excited you want to win more, because your thinking is this is my lucky day i should not waste it
on the the other hand, When you continue loosing, you wan't to get the money back no matter what, so you go on betting, although
the result is different , when you are winning you get profit , when your loosing you lost your money,

The major and hard thing for you is easy which is to stop in losses beacuse human are such that always want money back or play to recover those lost money and only if you have self control can stop it . While when you are winning at the max you lose that winning amount if you continue gambling and then you may stop once you lose all your winning so effectively you lost nothing from your capital side .

Don't be greedy and handle your funds wisely and you don't have to make such decisions hard. We all know that gambling couldn't guarantee us an assurance of gaining a good profit all the time so we should accept the fact that there will always be losses along the way so we have to know our limits.
If we know how to handle our funds, we will know when to stop and when to take the risks. It all goes with self-discipline.

There is one small error in your strategy. You exit the game when you reach a certain result. However, when you win gambling it can be
due to your luck or because you are really good at the moment, your concentration is on top and you make the right decisions.

If you play well, your concentration is at its peak, it is in your interests to spend as much time as possible in the game in this state in order to maximize your profits and to some extent minimize the risks associated with a bad game in less concentrated emotional states.

Leaving the game ahead of time you lose some advantage in the framework of your game over a long distance.

Yep.

Winning new money and losing your money are not just opposites.

Losing is more bad than winning is good, which few people seem to understand.

The sadness that comes from losing easily tips the scales against the happiness that comes with winning.

I guess many gamblers will feel hard to stopping when they win gambling because they will feel to get to play more rounds and try to get more winnings. But unfortunately, as we don't know what will happen in the next round, the chances for us to get a win will not have a big opportunity because we also don't know if the luck still beside us or not. But if we can stop right away after we win the game, that will help us to save the win money so we can withdraw the money (if the money is big) and we can celebrate the winning moment with our friends or family.

I assumed that we all have the same attitude when it comes to gambling. It is really much easier to stop when you are winning than losing in the game because we are afraid to lose all of our money when we are already winning. The reason why it is hard to stop when we are losing because it is hard to accept that we are losing, so we keep trying to win back all of our losses.

I don't think that it works like that,

It is much harder to stop when you win because you have the feeling of being lucky enough to win more. So, as long as you win, you continue to play until you end up losing.
Compared to losing, you can immediately stop since you end up losing your money, you have this feeling of being unlucky and will stop right away.

I think it depends to a person if he can control himself from staying away from gambling whether he wins or lose. I think you are really irresponsible when you can't control yourself when you've already won and lost many times because you should always watch your actions and you should know your limits to avoid huge losses.

Than a continuous losing in which you will be able to stop on gambling because you are in a bad luck and you doesn't have more money to play with.

I have the same attitude as yours bro because I am also easy to stop on gambling especially when I feel that I am winning because the fact that I may lose on the following rounds and go home as a loser, I will just stop on gambling once I feel that I am already winning so that I will go home with the money and I will go home happy because I've won than going home with nothing and losing money. So I just prefer stop gambling whenever you are winning already.

For the fairness' sake, I must say that it is currently unknown, for how long one should play so that the house edge would certainly overweigh any possible luck. With millions of bets made, house edge would definitely show itself, but we can't say the same about, say, 400-500 bets.

"Chasing losses" is a bad practice overall, because it nudges you on the path of an addicted gambler, but I wouldn't say that winning with that is against math.

Borrowing may work for some people but who's going to offer a credit like to a broke addict? This may work once but then you're on the blacklist and it's all over.

Misinterpretations as instead of moving away and enjoy those amount of money that you already have from winning your previous bets, you'll continue
thinking that you still have the lucky momentum and it will increase the money that you've got. It can't be denied that most of the time gamblers able to

I'm not contradicting you here but it depends on the gambler because there are 2 situations that can happen when they lose:
1. Either they will stop totally like you said.
2. They will find a way to have some money again that will be use for gambling. Like they always said "If there's a will there's a way".

Borrowing for the first time with your relatives is possible but once they know that you are using for gambling then they will not let you borrow for the second time again. Loaning on banks is possible too but this way is being used by the gamblers who are heavily addicted into gambling. I saw some loaning applications too that they will offer loans. That might work for them too.

I agree that most of the gamblers would stop after losing a certain amount, I just want to point out that it's not easy to do. Accepting your loss is always a hard job. All of us want to be winning all the time, and that's understandable, it's in our genes. So accepting your loss and moving on is not easy, it's hard. Even though most gamblers can cope with that, it's not easy.

You need to be fully discipline to be able to do that, and that is the attitude of the professional gamblers, they don't easily well affected by their emotion as emotion would only lead to wrong decision making and instead of minimizing the risk when losing, we are exposing ourselves to higher risk without control.

Having discipline is not easy, and not all gamblers can do. But I don't think that discipline will be on the professional gamblers because new people who are trying to playing gambling can also have discipline. But every people have a chance to lose discipline, especially if they are in winning. When we are winning, we can forget about discipline, and we can break our rule so that we can get more losses. That can lead us to get broke in a short time if we still playing gambling a few more times.

You are talking about the law of large numbers and you are right but it is not rare at all to find gamblers that have made hundreds of thousands of bets on dice games and as such to desire to see anything different but the expected probabilities is a mistake, anomalies happen from time to time but when you gamble so much those anomalies will even out, still chasing losses is not a desired behaviour at all because even if you were to recover your money in that instance the next time it happens the gambler will have a tendency to do the same and next time his results may not be as positive.

I absolutely agree with you on this one. To me, chasing losses, or borrowing money for gambling, or gambling in order to pay out a debt, are almost the same things, and they are unacceptable, because in most cases they lead to misery. But math is an exact science, and when we say that there's a mathematical certainty of something happening, we must specify, during what period of time, or within how many tries.

It's easier for me to stop when I'm losing and seeing my money came to loss easily. But sometimes I just depend on the situation when I know I can manage the game and my mindset is to bring back what I've loss. Sometimes I've manage to win even in the start I loss a little amount of money. I know it's my day.
Sometimes I invited my friends so that if I lose my track, they are there to advise me to stop if I loss a lot. Losing a lot my lead us to being greedy in gambling and resulting for being addicted.

Well if you lose you dont have any other option than to stop unless you still have capital to play again.
If  i am the players and in the winning side it will hard for me to stop i will just secured profit and will continue playing until  im satisfied playing.

It is better to stop if we don't have any money and don't even try to borrow the money because that will give you another problem. I think you should try to control yourself so when you win, you can stop it right away, and you can save the winning money for another thing. It is better to take the profit and withdraw it while you can because you will have not a chance in the future if you continue playing gambling.

In my experience, I find it hard to stop when you are winning. I feel very lucky so I can't stop from playing, I continue until I am satisfied but that is also when I realize that I have no more funds to bet.
Some may find it easy to stop when you win, but most of the time, being greedy is the one that make you continue from playing.

You said quite controversial things. You continue to play while luck favors you, but at some point you find that you no longer have funds to bet.
Thus, we can assume that at some point you start to lose and therefore try to win back, which ultimately leads to the loss of all money.

In other words, specifically in your case, it is more difficult for you to stop both during a successful outcome of events and during your loss.

I can't easily stop when I am losing despite the fact that I already set up a limit to gamble in a certain day or a certain session.

This is why leave gambling so hard and they chose to stay for more winning. Every gambler will break his rules and limit if can't control his emotion, revenge first loan later. Stop is about mindset and family ( society ), you need both to stop. If you choose stop after win/ loss I'm sure you'll come again, stop is stop and leave forever.

Same here. Stopping with a prize or profit is a lot easier than stopping with a loss. The feeling to get back, to try recovering the lost money, is far stronger than the feeling of wanting to continue playing for more prizes because there is always the anxiety that what was already won might be lost as far as the latter is concerned.

But the easiest is stopping when finally losing after a long winning streak. That, to me, is a very easy decision to make.

Therefore, professional gambling players simply need plans and strategies full of restrictions and limits.
Thus, the player eliminates the role of emotions during the game session due to the fact that follows a strict, simple, and understandable plan.
The vast majority of players use such strategies, therefore the level of gamblers is so high.

I also believe the same and even experienced it that when you have money you can quit as you are going with a Happy mood rather than sad of losing money and more for people who’s are addicted to it and cannot stay without it or only gamble to make money from it . When on losing mode you always play to win to recover that lost money so not an easy to stop gambling at that point .

Professional gamblers know when to gamble and implement their strategies he does not carelessly play and see the gaps and how to play, so gamblers always do the most important thing before gambling.
But it seems we are difficult to become a professional gambler because we have to capital big money and can back up when losing in gambling.

It might because of the eagerness to recover what you have lost. Even we set a limit on how much to spend for the duration we're going play sometimes we dont follow it. Losing the money is depressing thats why its hard to stop and in the end you have this regrets why you gamble the money instead of spending it to buy food or other important things. But we have different way how to handle such situation and it depends on the mindset of a gambler. Its much easier to stop if you win rather than if you lose.

Agree, the odds of stopping when we win will probably be higher because at least in this situation, our eagerness can still be controlled when we start losing again, happy mood and profit are always a good point for us to handle situations and make the best decisions. While in the opposite context, the loss is only brought with a feeling full of wrath, the chance of stopping is too difficult when we are extremely bad, the only thought is to try to find what was lost but continue to lose what is possessed is the next fate, can not stop in the loss

It would be better for you to have a target and a limit when betting, because by having these limits and targets at least we will only bet with a limit of money that can be spent and if you get losing streak then you will easily stop. Likewise with a target for example for a profit achievement that is indeed a target or maybe you have a plan like just going to roll a few times and then stop, no matter what the results are because having a mature plan at the beginning will be better.

You are going to get a lot of mixed answers. Truth is, it depends from person to person. A person might find it easy to stop when he is winning but really hard to stop when he is losing. Similarly, one might get tires/exhausted from have a losing streak and might stop for the day. Unfortunately, for a gambling addict, none of the ways are easy for them. They want to gamble and win more when they are winning, they will want to gamble and win back what they lost when they are losing.
Though I guess, it would be easier for a person to stop when they are winning once they realize that in the long run the house always win.

But does not this means that you have problems to stop gambling regardless of the circumstances? If you cannot stop yourself to keep gambling if you are winning and then you realize you have no more funds then that means that you could not stop your behaviour when you were losing either, I think it is time to take control of your gambling activities before this could develop into a problem, set yourself a goal in terms of the money you will spend or the time you want to use to gamble and then stick to it no matter if you are winning or losing.

They still have money to gamble but when you are losing it is easier to stop because you don't have enough money to bet.

Because of the perception that you could still win despite the profit you are having. Instead of wrapping up, you continue gambling still wanting to earn more and never realize that they are still risking that profit they already got. I think I could stop when I won since I know how it feels when you lose and it is more disappointing to lose the money you already won.

It's true that for some people it's harder to stop when they are winning, but let's not forget about common gambler's fallacy, namely, to think that after a long losing streak a win or two must definitely appear soon. Thinking this way, and thus "chasing their losses", as they say, people lose a lot of money.

I think most gamblers would agree that it's much harder to accept your loss, and stop, than to stop after a good win.

For me, I stops when I am winning because when I already know that the I won the money my mind setting is "Yes I already have money time to go and tomorrow is another day". On the other hand if I am losing, sometimes my mind setting is to "OK try another one until you win". In that case I may continue losing.

As Jocko said, discipline equals freedoom.

it may be easier to stop when losing if you lose it all or have a critical point (total capital) where you decide to stop or a number of loses in a row that makes you take a break.

simmilar to winning, to be fair.

That's what I could never understand, tbh. How can it be hard to stop when you won something already? Is it so hard to shut down your computer, or get out of the casino, or whatever, when you've got some extra funds to celebrate your lucky day? I mean, if you won, you can make it your lucky day, if you stop immediately; but you have big chances of making it your bad day if you continue playing.

Disciplining  your self is one of the key to not getting big lose money in gambling because most of the player right now are greedy in profit when they are winning money they want to get more so they play until the money decreasing also when they lose money they add more money to recover but instead of that they lose more money .

Sometimes we can relate this since we pass that situation that we want more winnings on our pockets  that's why we tend to gamble for more. And compare to losing it's easy to stop this especially if our balance got dried and we don't have any money left to spend.

Exactly, due to our eagerness we tend to play more and bet on our luck

That is also the reason why it is hard to stop since we are expecting more winnigs than we currently have. The more winnings we received, the more deeper we attached ourselves into playing until we can't stop or lose all our funds.

That is why it is really easy to stop gambling when you lose

But there is a catch, it might fuel yourself from gambling again and will look forward to it to win the losses you have the last game. I ask some of my friends about this and they told me that they are aware of the money they are gambling and if they are winning, they would be putting aside the capital and just use the money they won, if they lose that, they go home, if that profit doubled up, they're done for the day.

Yes! It becomes tough to shut down computer when you have won some good money and have chances of winning more. Greed plays an active role in this and even your mind starts calculating the money you can win from another bet. This is why it is suggested to leave gambling when you won a good money.

The attitude towards the gambling depends on the person's self-interest and the risk management. Knowing when to stop is the instinct of gambler for preventing to lose the total bankroll. I can extend this list but the human beings don't only act with logic in risky life activities including gambling. I prefer to take the whining and leave the table or room after reaching the certain win percentage of bankroll.

I think you were right that a if a person has a certain goal upon entering the casino then no matter what happens he/she knows when to stop even if they were winning or losing. And that is the risk management that a gambler need before going to any casino.

For me, it all depends upon the situation because I am just playing to enjoy myself and I always bring the money that I may able to lose. And also, I have my own way of making myself to enjoy more when gambling.

Stopping when you are winning is easy for those who are not into gambling that much but for those who are a gambling addict that is different and for me stopping when I am winning would be not that hard especially if I win huge amount so that the amount that I won won't be lose again. Also, stopping when I am losing wouldn't be much of a choice that if you already lose all your capital then it is much better to stop rather than losing more money and the worst scenario is getting broke.

As my own perspective and experience, it is easier to stop gambling when I get loss. Some gamblers when they repeatedly lose in gambling, because they have an higher urge to play gambling more as long as they have an assets in their digital wallets. But there are some point that, if loss are so often it is much better to stop gambling before it is too late to recover my assets, because if I fight for my assets to came back again it would be dangerous for me as a gambler because every time I played gambling my debt will also increases on the failed that I experiencing in gambling and my life shall be in danger because of a big debt.

Exactly correct it is always easy to stop when you are losing. It is very hard to stop when you are winning because of the eagerness  and the belive that you might win more. Most of the time it sadly converts to a loss. But. It is very had to control your greed at that time.

Yes! It becomes tough to shut down computer when you have won some good money and have chances of winning more. Greed plays an active role in this and even your mind starts calculating the money you can win from another bet. This is why it is suggested to leave gambling when you won a good money.

But the chances are always the same, aren't they? And the chances of winning big are always at low. So, what makes one think that if they just won big they must continue betting? Is it some sort of "my lucky day" kind of thing?

It is true that these are independent processes, and thus it's wrong to assume that after one big win you can't win big any time soon. But it is also wrong to think that your initial big win can magically attract another one during the same session.

Professional gamblers know when to gamble and implement their strategies he does not carelessly play and see the gaps and how to play, so gamblers always do the most important thing before gambling.
But it seems we are difficult to become a professional gambler because we have to capital big money and can back up when losing in gambling.

To become a professional player does not need a lot of money. The main difficulty is not in money but in psychological aspects. Discipline is what distinguishes an ordinary reactionary player from a pro.
A professional will never make emotional mistakes because he initially built a strategy in such a way as to exclude any emotional interference. It is also necessary to carry out a lot of work and calculations between sessions than most players neglect.
