Title: [ANN][RNG] Ring: Widest ever initial distro | Proof of Play | CPU Mining | Hive
Post by: LitecoinCashOfficial on February 11, 2020, 06:38:00 PM

We taught safe forking to the LTC community.

We performed the first ever spacedrop (https://space.litecoinca.sh/).

We developed Hive mining (https://litecoinca.sh/guide).

Now, the Litecoin Cash (https://litecoinca.sh/) team brings you a new project. Introducing:

https://hive.litecoinca.sh/rngannimg/ring-logo.png (https://ringcoin.tech/)
The Ring (Ticker: RNG)

https://hive.litecoinca.sh/rngannimg/fork-coins-smol.png
Uniting 4 chains to forge a Ring on 18 Feb 2020
FULL MAINNET RELEASE: 21:00 UTC, SATURDAY 14 MARCH

World Record Initial Distribution

To ensure the widest ever distribution of a new coin, on 18 Feb 2020, chainstate snapshots of BTC, LCC, DASH and DOGE were taken. A proportional Ring balance will be paid to over 30 million addresses (representing over 30 years of compressed cumulative blockchain history).

Snapshot Blocks

These blocks all occured close to 12:00 UTC (midday) Tues 18 Feb 2020.

  • Bitcoin 617922
  • Litecoin Cash 1907989
  • Dash 1223510
  • Dogecoin 3110554

Claim Rates

  • Bitcoin 1 BTC : 1 RNG
  • Litecoin Cash 1 LCC : 0.00020000 RNG (5000 LCC : 1 RNG)
  • Dash Claim rate will be as per BTC price at snapshot point
  • Dogecoin Claim rate will be as per BTC price at snapshot point

Three Ways To Mine

Our unique symbiotic chainwork scaling algorithm is designed to allow additional security on hybrid chains by encouraging the different mining dimensions to work together (see our Hardening The Hive (https://litecoinca.sh/downloads/hive_whitepaper-enhancements_optimising_chainwork_scaling.pdf) paper for more info).

Proof-of-work using a new bespoke CPU minable hash algorithm, Minotaur (https://github.com/litecoincash-project/cpuminer-multi/). This algorithm is designed to level the playing field as much as possible; core count is far more important than core speed, with cores that have a 10x performance difference on paper showing only 2-3x performance difference while hashing Minotaur.

Hive mining: Create on-chain agents (dwarves) who mine for you during their lifespan (see the Hive mining guide (https://litecoinca.sh/guide) or whitepaper (https://hive.litecoinca.sh/whitepaper.pdf))

Proof-of-play: Play games inside the wallet to earn rewards. This is no gimmick; gameplay directly generates blocks and secures transactions.

Scaleable Gamification

Our proof-of-play protocol is designed for integration with additional games. Right from launch you'll be able to do proof-of-play mining from within the wallet; but in the future, third party game developers could have their players earn coins while securing the blockchain.

The Rialto

We know that like us, you don't trust any of the companies promising you "end to end encrypted chat". We also know that you do trust the cryptography that protects your coins every day.

Shakespeare's Rialto was a street in Venice where merchants would meet to discretely conduct their business. Our Rialto will be a wallet-integrated chat application offering true end to end encryption and fully integrated low-friction payments. Note that we're not talking about storing your chat on-chain! Rather, on-chain keypairs will be used to negotiate secure session keys for offchain p2p chat.

Economic Parameters

  • Block time: Approx 30 seconds across all block types (pow, hive, pop). Even distribution of each block type is expected.
  • Transaction bandwidth: >30K transactions / minute (assuming 250 byte transactions).
  • Total initial distribution: Approx 19 million RNG paid to approx 31 million addresses (exact figures to follow after snapshot point)
  • Development fund: 2% of initial distribution
  • Proof-of-work block reward: 0.2 RNG
  • Hive mining block reward: 1 RNG
  • Proof-of-play block reward: 0.05 - 0.2 RNG
  • Inflation: Less than 2% per annum, tending towards zero as chain approaches infinite length. Note that Hive mining is overall zero-sum and non-inflationary.
  • Hive mining parameters (see the Hive whitepaper (https://hive.litecoinca.sh/whitepaper.pdf)):
    • Dwarf maturation time: Approx 24 hours
    • Dwarf lifespan: Approx 10 days
    • Sustainable population at GI=100: 1 million dwarves.

Availability

The Ring wallet will be made available in source form and as binaries for all platforms at 21:00 UTC on SATURDAY 14 MARCH.

Our Minotaur reference implementation is already available (https://github.com/litecoincash-project/cpuminer-multi/).

How to Participate

Simply hold LCC, BTC, DOGE or DASH for the duration of the snapshot day, 18 Feb 2020, on private keys that you control. See above for the specific snapshot blockheights for each chain.

You don't need to trust us in order to claim your coins. In common with an IFO, after the snapshot you should move all your funds to a fresh private key. Once the wallet is released, you can safely import the private key you used to hold your funds during the snapshot. Always practice safe forking!

@xxhll please see "availability" section. Keep an eye on our website and Discord!

@joe Welcome :) "Snapshot day" is the day on which we will take an instantaneous dump of all active addresses and balances across BTC, LCC, DASH and DOGE. Those addresses will get converted into Ring addresses, and our first 30k or so Ring blocks will pay all those converted addresses.

That's great to hear, looking forward on this project. To make clear I can mine RNG now with minotaur Algorithm right?

It looks really interesting.
So the release date (wallet, start mining, payments to holders) is February 18th?

Not yet! First the snapshot needs to happen; we'll release source and binaries as soon as possible afterwards; think hours or days, not weeks!

Binaries for all platforms will be released simultaneously, including Mac and Rasp Pi.

It looks really interesting.

Proof-of-play: Play games inside the wallet to earn rewards. This is no gimmick; gameplay directly generates blocks and secures transactions.

Can you explain a bit more how this works... How are the blocks generated through game play?

Sounds new to me I'm not a gamer but my children and some of my friends does and I can invite them to play this game if I will be rewarded with coins have book mark this thread and will wait for the next big announcement.

Proof-of-play: Play games inside the wallet to earn rewards. This is no gimmick; gameplay directly generates blocks and secures transactions.

Can you explain a bit more how this works... How are the blocks generated through game play?

Sure.

Any mining method represents a competition, the aim of which is to decide which network node has the right (or priority) to mint the next block.

When a Hive block is minted, a proof-of-play gameplay opportunity is created; the block hash of the Hive block is used as a game seed. In the case of the initial tile-placing game, the seed serves to shuffle the initial tile stack (which then gets subsequently shuffled every time the player places a tile, depending on the placed tile's position and rotation).

The output of all this is a vector which tracks the decisions made by the player, and allows the validation code to fully replay their game. So proof-of-play is a function of this seed hash, and the user's gameplay. Giving these as inputs to a heuristic scoring function, f(seed hash, gameplay) = score, we have a way of checking whether the player performed well enough to win the right to mint the block.

So, when a player completes the game, if the score meets a required target, and if nobody else has yet claimed the game opportunity created by the same specific Hive block, their wallet checks the mempool, assembles any waiting transactions into a block, and submits the block.

"Dash Claim rate will be as per BTC price at snapshot point"

Sure. At snapshot time, 1 held BTC will reward you with 1 RNG.

If, at snapshot time, the Dash market price (as per CMC) is 0.01 BTC, then 1 held Dash will reward you with 0.01 RNG.

Got it, thanks!

I was a bit confused because of LCC fixed rate, and Dash/Doge "as per BTC price at snapshot point".

No probs! The LCC fixed rate claim at above market rate is to reward the LCC community, who really stuck with the team through thick and thin. Hive mining in particular was definitely a development the whole community helped build together.

After creation, bees take 1,152 blocks to mature (approximately 24 hours of chain time). During this time, your wallet does not need to be online; the bees will mature regardless.

After the maturation period, bees live for 16,128 blocks (approximately 2 weeks). During this time, your wallet should remain online as much as possible; your bees can only work for you while your wallet is connected to the network.

Prevent 51%?

- The overall intent of Hive Mining is to both increase security against 51% attacks (esp against small-cap chains) and massively democratise the mining process in a better way than via proof-of-stake. Note that those are the LCC Hive config figures.

We can't even see a corresponding GitHub repo for now...

Hive mining: Create on-chain agents (dwarves) who mine for you during their lifespan (see the Hive mining guide (https://litecoinca.sh/guide) or whitepaper (https://hive.litecoinca.sh/whitepaper.pdf))

Hive mining? Never. I lost about 140 LCC on your Hive mining, there is a post in your LCC thread. Never will do the same mistake again.

Hive mining is not a guaranteed investment though, especially if you are solo-hive mining and doing it with smaller quantities.

Nope when u start mining any VPS provider will close your account. They dont normally countenance this shit. Wanna mine then purchase a rig. I dont know why u would wanna mine this one tho. This is a no-coin and I dont see it listed, not even on shit exchanges. However there is an inherent risk to CPU mining which u do not wanna take unless u wanna kill your CPU in the first place.

This all depends on the Virtualisation that is provided. If you are guaranteed to have full virtualisation and 100% of the resources you can do what you want with the machine.
You can mine with hive mining no problems, as that doesnt load the CPU as PoW mining does.

Quick update folks; also crossposted to Ring and LCC Discords. The team's been crunching for hours to get our Ring chainstate snapshots so that they are absolutely correct; due to some chainstate database format strangeness in Dogecoin, we're not quite there yet, though very close to having that resolved. The chainstate snapshots are the first items on an extensive pre-flight checklist. We want to be sure that when we release, not only the wallets but the supporting infrastructure are as solid as can be.

I'm not going to give any release time estimate other than to say that a release within the next 24 hours is, at this point, pretty unlikely.

Once we do have a final release, we will hold for at least a couple of hours and announce the release time across all mediums.

However, when it comes time to finally drop the links, while we'll try to drop them on all mediums as simultaneously as we can, Ring Discord #general chan will be the first on the paste list.

Proof-of-play blocks will not be available until there are Hive-mined blocks (which will take at least 2880 blocks, since the first dwarves need to mature), and Minotaur pow blocks begin on a slow-start, ramping up from zero to their final block reward of 0.2 RNG over 2000 blocks. This is to prevent early miners having an unfair advantage before everyone's had a chance to get synced, as well as to allow mining difficulty a chance to adjust to the network's collective hashrate. So, don't worry if you're not there from minute zero, you won't necessarily get left behind.

Furthermore, as with the LCC launch, it will be provable that no mining has occurred between the Initial Distribution blocks and publicly mined blocks.

So I cannot send the coins yet? But I am expected to send my BTC to another address. Then use my private key to see if I got the coins, that I can do nothing with? I would have thought that at the moment of the snapshot. Mining would start. And miners would start verifying each transaction? What is the ETA? It seems to me you should have waited longer! Got your ducks more in a row! I have now way of knowing if I even got coins, and the only information I got is the wallet/miner with be ready in a "FEW" days?

- Yes, "a few" days. As ever, watch our Discord for latest news -- including at least several hours of advance notice when we are able to release.

We're launching two entirely new mining methods at once (and custom difficulty adjustments for them), and doing the widest ever initial distro. Trust us, you don't want us to rush this.

It's taken us a few days to both validate our chainstate snapshots, and to address some protocol and wallet issues identified on our private testnet. We're now happy with where we are at, but there is one last thing preventing us launching.

As the max sustainable population of Hive agents varies between the two chains (20 million bees on LCC, 1 million dwarves on RNG), we need to calibrate the chainwork scaling algorithm which works to enable the different types of mining to work together symbiotically (see Hive 1.1 WP for more info).

This means we must wait for the testnet hive difficulty to start to float correctly, which could take another couple of days.

While it's frustrating for us all to wait, getting this correct now will help to ensure a positive experience for users, minimise reorgs, and save the coin from an early UASF to repair the calibration.

This extra delay also has given us extra time to make sure that when we launch, we have all the infrastructure in place to make rollout, initial sync and user on-boarding as smooth as possible.

mining already started?

Snap shot will be the first to come, later they will make an announcement and they will update the announcement thread if they launch their wallet, I'm also curious on their mining and if it is compatible with my machine and will it be profitable in my location if I will mine this coin.
When the announcement will come for the launch of their wallet.

There's a lot of speculation this early about the price, but we will not see that actual demand unless we get it into the market  and I don't see any issue getting it listed in big exchange I hope to see this coin on Kucoin, but I highly recommend
https://qtrade.io/listing_guidelines they could list this for free.

No ETA has been set.  While a lot of people are anxiously waiting for the wallet, I think it’s better not to give an ETA.  If the team set an ETA, then a problem crept up and ETA wasn’t met, the coin would get slammed as a sham.

I can tell you the pre-release wallet is being THOROUGHLY tested before being posted.  One of the holdups is with Hive mining.  Every time a new version of the test wallet comes out, we have to wait for dwarves to mature and make sure the Hive difficulty is scaling correctly.

Ideally, the wallet would have been released within a day or two of snapshot, but that didn’t happen.  Please be patient.  For up to date information, please join Discord server.  Invite link is in post #1.

Miner and wallet is on the testnet, testnet is very important so we have to patient and let us let the dev work on it so it will come out perfect with no issues at all when it launch once it launch pretty sure it will become the next big thing in Crypto, right time to launch this just when halving is coming in.

I'm not into mining but reading all it's features will make a non miner to mine this coin, it's a CPU mineable coin and asic resistance so it is very attractive to both full time miners and non miners, I'm on both their channels on Discord and Telegram and they are now in a testnet and making sure no bug when they release it, I think it's going to worth the wait.

they are working hard to make good wallet for us, just wait for the future announcement from thier media socials announcement & they already state on the threads that they are launching at 18 march which you can download wallet from thier officials github.

question for project owner, which exchange do you planned to list for RING ( RNG ) ?

Wallet will be released on 14th March 21:00 UTC, not 18 March.
Download links will be available at https://ringcoin.tech/

Two trading sites are confirmed where we can trade Ring
http://coxi.io is the first exchange that confirmed support for RNG.
They will reward RNG to the holders of BTC, DASH, LCC and DOGE at the time of snapshot and RNG will be traded on their exchange with:

ETH, BTC - Crypto pairs
PLN, EUR, USD - Fiat pairs

2nd exchange is https://www.nlexch.com

The snapshot occurred on 2/18, so you don’t need to deposit anything to claim.  If you owned any of the 4 coins above on 2/18, you can claim in Ring wallet using your private keys from those coins.

I'm not saying to deposit those coins at coxi. If you are registered at coxi and you were holding any of those cons at that sites on the snapshot date then you will automatically receive Ring.

And I always say, never store your coins in any site, always store your coins in your personal wallet.

This is the kind of project worth working in, the project or the platform is not yet launch but there are already two exchanges that are willing to trade it there, much better than crowdfunding some crowdfunding based cannot even take their coin in even a small exchange but project like this can easily get in.

I don’t think you can get private keys from a hardware wallet, but you may want to check with the manufacturer.  You need the private key to use in Ring wallet.  It does not support recovery phrases.

Hi, is it even possible to obtain private keys from hardware wallet? wallet? Will the Ring wallet support importing from using the recovery phrase to get the seed?

Yes, it is possible to recover the keys, but you can't directly import the keyphrase into the Ring wallet.

Instead you can use https://iancoleman.io/bip39/ with your keyphrase to generate the same sequence of keypairs your hardware wallet will have generated each time it was asked for a new address. Note that you should save that tool locally and run it offline for safety.

Help getting the right derivation paths etc depends on the coin you are claiming from. Help with this *may* be available on our Discord, but the team's priorities immediately after launch will likely be elsewhere.

EDIT: Who'd have expected it -- our [ANN] is remarkably free of FUD! Thanks all for the kind words. Please do come and join our community on Discord (invite in OP and on website). The dev team does a live DJ show / exclusive news drop / AMA most Saturdays, called "Saturday Night Hive". You can watch on Twitch or listen via a Discord audio repeater.

The stream starts at 20:00 UTC. Tomorrow, the mainnet release at 21:00 UTC will of course be the highlight of our show  :)

Go to the coin website https://ringcoin.tech and download need version.

The mining pool's excess computing power exceeds 99%, which seems to be worse?
This is the "disease" of all new coins.

I wonder is it still worth mining through wallet because with new pools coming up, it's more preferable to mine on pool than alone, I'm not mining for four years so is it a good option to mine on the wallet, their POP is not yet configured no games to play yet running my walllet to mine and no luck for 5 hours now, hash rate is way to low.

I mining through a wallet. If I don't find the block in 2-3 days, I will probably disable it.

Please note the required update to 0.18.2.1, available from our website.

This is an essential release for everyone.

It fixes an issue with certain transactions staying in the mempool. With this fix in place, at block 35550, these transactions will successfully complete.

Please upgrade as soon as possible. To ensure uninterrupted service, you must upgrade before block 35550.

After block 35550, non-upgraded wallets will not be able to accept blocks, and will need to upgrade to continue working.

We expect to see the first Hive mined blocks appear around 08:00 UTC in the morning. Proof-of-play blocks will be available shortly afterwards.

Was the site's domain used priory as a marketplace or shop? I can sense a whiff of chinese scam coming from it. They buy domains just like yours in droves from google for scam shops to sell inventory,  cheap consumables, shoes. Rarely Im taken to such sites by misleading links when shopping snickers by photos with google Image Search. You come across like you forgot to fully rename your chinese lipstick selling site.

Mining on a pool is still the best option mining alone is like a lottery, on pool at least you can have a share of rewards on mining alone you are left on luck to mine one, so far there is only one pool but I'm pretty sure they are going to add more, or a pool with add Ring to their platform.

We can't decide Ring price from the sell orders of this exchange. Total sell orders are less than 0.30 RNG (with both pairs).
So, I think we should wait and see, when RNG will be listed on some other exchanges having reasonable trading volume,
then we can pick Ring price from those exchanges.

Connect as many rooms together as you can to light the candles.  Each candle is 10 points.  Beat the target score and you win.  Hint: tiles also rotate...

Total dwarves in your wallet works together. So, it doesn't matter if you buy 10 dwarves in 10 count or in one count.
Please read this post to know more about HiveMining.
https://www.reddit.com/r/RingCoin/comments/fjmgph/hive_mining_basics_how_dwarves_work/

Starting game....
Moving one or two blocks....
GAME EXPIRED
THANK YOU

Yes, the same thing is happening with me. First day, there were many PoP games available, I played a lot of games and I won too.
But, after that many people are playing PoP games. Most of times there is no game, when they come, they come only one or two. And when I start playing it expires in 20-30 seconds.

The reason is many people are playing at the same time, the tiles don't come in the same order for all players. You may noticed that sometime tiles come in a easy way and you can solve the game in a minute. So, when you and me start playing games, we are playing with hundreds of people, the tiles come in different sequence, one of us get the tiles in a easy order and he solve it before others.

There is another thing.
If you have dwarves, when your dwarves find any block and the block got mature (after 101 confirmations), a PoP game will appear in PoP Mining tab. You can only see that game, it will be private only for you and you will have chance for 50 blocks time to solve that game, if you don't solve that game then the game will be public for 200 blocks time. When the game will be public then you can still play and win that game by competing with other people.

So, if you start playing that game when it has 10 blocks time left to get public and the target is let suppose 85. In 10 blocks time you made 70 point, you need only two tiles (20 points) to connect with other tiles. The game becomes public, now I and other players start playing that game, when we made let suppose 40 points on a hurry, but you solve that game (while you were playing calmly). And now I and other players see "Game Expired".
I hope it clarify why these games are expiring so fast.

Edit: And you get 0.05 RNG as block reward, instead of 0.20. Because, when you started the game it was private, if you solve the game before becoming public you would get 0.20 RNG, but when you finished the game, it became public, so you will get 0.05 RNG.

How much RNG do we get for a hive mined block?

Block reward (pow): 0.2 RNG
Block reward (hive): 1.0 RNG
Block reward (private pop): 0.2 RNG
Block reward (public pop): 0.05 RNG

Its a scam . dont waste your time. Block chain is very big right after launch. Some features in the wallet didnt work. The block reward is set to 0.1 which is clearly made to artifically make it hard to mine. Meanwhile you can claim free rings from other coins , especially other coin of the same group who made LCC... So somenoe is trying to get rich quick here...

While you are entitled to your opinion, you should do some research before you start spreading FUD.

1.  The blockchain is large at launch because it contains all the snapshot data for the 4 different claim coins.  In fact, the first 34,000 blocks or so contain all the payout addresses.
2. Yes, there were some transaction issues with wallet at launch, but the dev team released updated wallet within 12 hours to correct.  While a group of a dozen or so people ran testnet wallet for a month, there’s no way they could create the stress of having thousands of people run it simultaneously.
3. The block reward has absolutely nothing to do with mining difficulty.  It’s hard to PoW mine because so many people are mining it.  Nethash shot to 1ghs within hours of launch and as high as 5.6ghs, which for a cpu only coin is ridiculous.  You can still hive mine and play the game to earn Ring.
4. Ring is from the same team that created LCC, which just had its 2 year anniversary.  So if you think they are going to put their reputation on the line for a “get rich quick” scheme, then yes, you should probably focus your efforts elsewhere.

When u use the rplant miner my hashrate (in miner and on pool stats) decrease a lot, so i dont think this is the 4.5.5L-Ryzen :D

Where can i get this? And have people already tested the Hive Mining part? How many rings do u guys use before starting with Hive Mining?

The rplant miner link is on the rplant pool homepage.  The miner contains several different versions depending on what cpu you have and the instruction set it uses.  I.E. the Ryzen miner works best with Ryzen CPUs.  The L simply means Linux version.

Hive mining ha, only good for the special ones on the richlist you will probably never get anything unless you have enough weight. The game hacked obviously every game lasts about 2 - 5 seconds literally. This is a good coin but room for much improvement also some of these problems could have been prevented from the beginning.

Ring is not listed on any exchange yet. Devs are fixing some issues in wallet. I think Ring will be listed on exchanges after new wallet release.

Is this still active?
Any games available or in planning?

Also looks like WildRig has Nvidia GPU mining support.

Hello @all...
I created the Ring Core Wallet portable in PortablApps.com format a few days ago.
In addition, the complete blockchain was made available from 28.10.2020.

Download via https://portableapps.com/node/62992

Have fun with it  ;)

I see how the games work now, quite a unique and fair way of mining, I don't see how it could be gamed or scripted as it's so random.
I like the POW portion as well.  A nice blend of the two.

Even those without a fast computer could become good at the games and mine that way.
Also could invest in some coins then use Dwarves to mine.
I like this concept a lot.
I think maybe the GPU mining should be addressed in the title.
The software is available publicly which is nice and watt wise, CPU mining seems to be much better anyway similar to RandomX

Hope the devs pick this back up, so many generic coins out there with basic features so this one could stand out.

Any part of the dev or community around?
Also are all blocks hive mine-able or just certain ones?
Seems like it hits a dry period every now and then, but then floods in.

If anyone would like some coins to try things out let me know as I have some to spare.

Has anyone been able to complete a PoP Mining block?
I am not the greatest at puzzles and have gotten close, but have yet to get a high enough score.
Though I am sure if I practiced enough or did one with a low enough required score I could do it.

Is there a timeline for The Rialto ?

Seems like I get about 70-100Kh per thread, up till about as many cores, then it starts to go down.  Doing max, aka all virtual cores too, still results in a higher amount but only by a few Kh.
Optimal for me is number of physical cores + half of that number = total mining threads for best results.
I haven't seen it affect Hive Mining, which still seems to come in waves for me and not 100% random.

Yes, for best result always use half of your total threads.

I solved lot of PoP blocks when bots were not playing PoP games. I didn't check for while that bots are still playing or not.

I don't think they are as they are available for a long time, and the target doesn't seem impossible but still too hard for me haha.

Seems like for me no bots play as I get tons of time to play.  However I have about 1% the skill you do on those games so I never win haha, not due to timing, but brain power.

I've gotten a bit better now haha.
What are the Private ones versus Public? Can only I play the Private game?
They are also worth a good bit more than Public.

Also this month Hive Mining with Dwarfs has been very nice, some parts getting 2x back what was invested.
Hashrate has been quite high at times, wonder who or what from or just general interest.

Congrats.

If you're hive mining, then whenever your wallet will find a Hive block and the block gets matured (after 101 confirmations), a private PoP game will appear in PoP Mining tab.

When you get a private PoP game you get 50 blocks time to solve and get 0.20 Ring as block reward, if you don't solve this private game within this time then it goes to public for 200 blocks time with block reward 0.05 Ring, if no one solve this game within this time then it expires.
(Note: when it goes public you can still solve this block competing with other PoP players.)

Suppose, your wallet find a Hive block of height 2201, you will get a private PoP block at height 2302, if you don't solve this block then it will go public at height 2352 and it will expire at height 2552.

If you want to do Hive mining then please first read this post, it will help you to understand how Hive mining works.
https://www.reddit.com/r/RingCoin/comments/fjmgph/hive_mining_basics_how_dwarves_work/

I think 100 dwarves are okay to find a block. But, I heard that atm all members are not getting profit with Hive mining. So, if you want to do hive mining you need to start with small amount e.g. 1k - 5k dwarves. If you make profit then you can increase gradually. But, before going for hive mining make sure you have some incoming connection along with a good number of outgoing connections.

If you want to know more about hive mining then please come to Discord and drop your question in ring-hive channel.
https://discord.gg/3AnFpvy

Note:
At the moment there are some other factors that are affecting Hive mining which were not expected. Devs are trying to fix those factors/issues.

I started off buying 10 dwarves and it worked out for me, I feel there is no minimum.
Solve a few games to save CPU time, and then use that to buy dwarves any Global Index is under 100.  The lower it is, the much better return probability you have.
I bought a 100 dwarves recently for 1RNG , 3 times, and all of them turned green before the 10 days was up.  I know have enough to buy 5 sets of 100 (5 RNG), so almost double what I put in.
That was at a global index ranging from 49 to 81.
I feel this is a great balance of investment, puzzle solving, and CPU mining.

Perhaps, CPU mining is one of the good things to do for now. Do I need to download the wallet first? This is really something to me
to make profit in the future.

Yes, you need to download wallet if you want to do solo mining, and if you want to do pool mining then you don't need wallet running and synchronized. But, you will need an address for pool mining. If you want to do solo mining then you can use builtin miner of wallet or you can use external CPU miner (links are below). Always use legacy address for solo mining if you're using cpu miner and for pool mining you can use anyone from legacy and SegWit.

https://github.com/JayDDee/cpuminer-opt/releases
https://github.com/doktor83/SRBMiner-Multi/releases

Note: SRB miner works only for pool mining while JayDDee's miner works for both, solo and pool.

It doesn't matter if you have several hives of small amount or a single hive with a big amount, only total amount counts.
Cause when the wallet try to find a hive block, your swarm of all hives works as a single unit.

But, during hive mining I experienced that too small hives don't give good result. Try to make your hive size of at least 100 dwarves.

Looks like difficulty is starting to go up, but still easy to solo mine a block with even a 4 core processor compared to pretty much any other CPU coin I have tried.
I miss being able to do that with Cryptonight and Monero lol

Based on mining difficulty and dwarf creation, it's very spicy.  Wonder where people are chatting about it.
I feel "newer" coins use Discord, Telegram and such more often than forums, but I like forums more personally.

Thanks in advance.
